- A video tutorial on how to add and program a remote key fob to 2021 - 2022 Chevy Tahoe.
*This programming procedure requires that you already have two working remote fob keys for your 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. If you have less than two working remote key fobs then your Chevrolet Tahoe will require a Dealership or Automotive Locksmith to program additional keys.
The 2021 Chevy Tahoe owner's manual contains the following information on adding remote fob keys.
Programming with Recognized Remote Keys
A new key can be programmed to the vehicle when there are two recognized keys. To program, the vehicle must be in run and all remote keys, both currently recognized and new, must be with you.
1. Place the two recognized remote keys on the passenger seat.
2. Scroll to the DIC menu to "Remote Key Learn" menu and select. The DIC displays READY FOR REMOTE #3, 4, 5, ETC.
3. Place the new remote key into the backup pocket in the left cupholder.
4. Press ENGINE START/STOP. When the remote key is learned, the DIC display will show that it is ready to program the next remote key.
5. Remove the remote key from the backup location and press UNLOCK or LOCK on the remote key. To program additional remote keys, repeat Steps 3-5. When all additional remote keys are programmed, press and hold ENGINE START/ STOP for approximately 12 seconds to exit programming mode.

Procedure does not work on a 2022 Suburban Premier. In settings, program key feature is not available.

What if I want reprogram a key for seating
I lost the key and programmed a new key but I only have 2 keys now. How can I delete a key setting that is no longer in the vehicle.
Will a key that was previously programmed be able to be re- programmed in a new vehicle? Also would a key fob with a remote start button that is programmed to a Tahoe that did not come with that feature make that feature work? Thanks.
No - the key fob will need to be unlocked by someone with the correct equipment before it can be programmed to a different vehicle a the key fob needs to match the vehicles options.
I tried to program a new key as you showed, everything went as your demonstration, but when I got to the step of "ready for key 3" and I pushed the start button once, it said something like " Key not found" or something similar. Any recommendations? I tried it several time and had the new key in the left side cup holder but still no luck. Thanks
I have not personally experienced that issue but there is a comment on this video where someone said they had to actually press the ignition button with the fob in order for it to register. I can't confirm that works but it may be worth trying.
I hope someone reads this mine doesn’t have the relearn and why? I’m in the Middle East do they region locked cars?
I had to press the ignition button with the key fob in order for it to register. It wouldn't pick up the fob when I placed it on the center console area.

How do I renumber my key fobs? I bought a used 2021. It came with 1 fob, #1. I added two more fobs, but now they are #3 and #4. I want to make one of them #2. How to do this?
I don't believe you can manually do that on these years - I think the existing fobs would first need to be erased using a scan tool computer

Unfortunately GM took away the onboard programming for 2022 - you will need a locksmith or dealership. You can find a locksmith in your area at www.LocateALocksmith.com
