As a previous owner of an '81 and '73 Ford Courier, I am SHOCKED how easily you're finding Couriers! Although both of my trucks have found new homes, I am happy to see all the Couriers you've found are finding life again in your Box Truck Mafia! Still.... I'm waiting to see what you do with that Mazda Sundowner! The diamond of your Japanese minitruck collection! It always made me laugh that all the Ford Couriers from the 70's to 80's were made by Mazda and then all the later models of Mazda trucks were made by Ford. The Mazda versions of the trucks always had the better stylings! Anyhow, THANK YOU for the videos and I hope you keep having fun! Happy to see your style thriving in the mini-trucking community! I'm envious of that seemingly never ending back yard that Puddin has at his place... I'd put up a really tall privacy fence around the whole thing and build a nice shop building back there. Even with that you'd still have all kinds of outside storage for every Datsun and mini box truck you come across.
He might be limited to how much shop space he can have compared to living space he has due to local code. Like the whole thing Taylor Ray went through with his shop and house combo.

@@contraband1543 Taylor Rays property is in a rather well to do gated community looking area of Florida, where there is bound to be an entire dictionary worth of HOA rules and bylaws telling him what he can and can't do... I based my comment on the assumption that ole Pott county Oklahoma was likely similar to 99% of the rest of the Midwest where a guy a free to do as he pleases with his land. I live in Iowa, I have a 30x45 ft steel building on top of a concrete pad in my backyard. There was absolutely no rules or laws telling me what I could or couldn't do, or how big i could go.

That continued “run-on” is likely the anti dieseling solenoid on the carb.
Had a similar issue with my 79 Datsun 620.
On one occasion, it kept running fuel through the carb during shut down and I had the cat explode, enough to where it shot material out the exhaust!

Just got mine running. Sat 1982 - 2022 = 40 years. Inspired by the PCL Pott County Legend...
Did you, by chance, check the timing belt? The fact it puffed out the carb, it may have jumped a tooth. One way or other, you might want to change the timing belt since it has been sitting a long time and the belt is probably pretty crunchy by now. No sense in getting it running just to have the valves and pistons doing the tango.

Are those factory installed YeHawl mud flaps? that is a great sounding engine for having sit for over 20 years. I like how you dont even mess with the old carbs and vacuum lines. they are always gummed up and leaking. Puddin saving all the mini box trucks one at a time #boxtruckmafia Another great video. I wish I knew what happened to that big block (428 or 429 I don't remember) Courier we built back in the 70s. We got tired of fighting with the cross member and put a straight axle from the speed shop under it. The engine trans(C-6) and rear axle came from a late 60s Mercury wagon. We started trimming the firewall for clearance and ended up using the pan off of a child's wheelbarrow for the bump in the floor. The brake was where the clutch used to be and the gas on the brake pedal. Good thing it was an automatic. We had a shop in Memphis narrow the rear axle and put some better gears in it. We trimmed and tubbed the bed and got some crazy N-50-15s on it or such.
It was a blast to drive. They wouldn't let us on the track because it had no roll cage but that was the next item on the list when it headed with my buddy Arthur to....... Oklahoma.
Keep an eye out for a Courier that sits a little taller than stock in the crannies and crevices. It was built well with no cost spared.
It sure would look good with a box bed on the back. You wouldn't have any trouble with wind resistance.

When I was an Airmen Basic at Wright Patterson back in '78, I bought a brand new '79 Pinto that had a 2.3 engine. I drove it hard and it was a good little engine.
My dad's Ford Courier has been sitting for a long time he said the battery went dead and he wasn't able to start it anymore he is 83 so i figured out he had left the marker lights on we put two cars with jumper cables on it and it fired right up a red cloud of rust shot out the tailpipe and the 2.3 with a Webber carb went straight to idling like a new car it actually runs better than my F150 you can't kill a Courier !

I did this vinegar flush once. It worked too well, dissolved so much stuff the radiator started to leak... then the heater core and heater valve joined. In return, everything reeked like vinegar for weeks. So I highly recommend this method.
Please use the Christmas tree to replace the one you cut off of the flatbed. That tree was the icing on the cake.
