RGB30 was my first retro handheld. It's decent - I like it - but after seeing mods to directional and face buttons on right - I recommend getting new face buttons - and - opening it - putting a bit of tape under directional cross or modding it for better quality one. Battery survives for Me - around 2-3 days. Playing few h here and there. While playing hour or 2 - nearly a week. I also recommend buying better sd card at least for system and/or game card. Just to save Your time -> clicking in fast manner L3+R3 - sticks - mutes device ;) If I'll come with something else - I'll edit for more. EDIT 1 : DO NOT - turn device off by holding power button - it works like sudden close for system - can crash Your sd card - happen to me 2 times - got to format -> install system anew So save Yourself time and press START+SELECT once -> Twice -> Go QUIT -> yes
It's a great system! I just traveled with it for the holidays and had a blast while I was just hanging out with family after the kids were in bed. Glad you enjoyed the video! Hope to see you around!
I know I'm really late to this video, so I don't know if you'll see this, but I wanted to say a massive thank you! I ordered one of these because so many games today feel so full of darkness, so I wanted to go back to some of the wonderful classic games I grew up with. This review told me it would give me everything I would want at an affordable price 😄I am curious though, how would you compare the comfort level to the Anbernic RG Cube? I like D-Pad more than analogue sticks for retro games, so I was concerned that the RG Cube would be harder to use the D-Pad.
Thank you so much. I’m glad it helped! The RG Cube is more ergonomic for sure. I have not tested it yet personally though, so I’m not sure how much more comfortable it is or what the D-Pad is like. Thanks for watching!
arkos is the best os. it has a bit more of a learning curve but overall better than the others. loved the apple recommendation. i wish more channels encouraged healthy eating lifestyles.
Hi there! Nintendo ds games are playable, you can use the right analog stick to emulate the pen, good video but you could also focus on the performance of the games you test.
I absolutely LOVE playing DS games on this thing. It's so much fun. I know you can use the right stick for the pen, but there are still games that are near impossible to play. Metroid Prime Hunters would be one example. All of the aiming had to be done with the stylus. Thanks for the feedback! Happy gaming, friend!
Do you have to update it like ambernic? I really want to get ine without having to update it all the time! Which console would you suggest getting? Please let me know
You don't have to update it, but it can help performance if you do. However, unlike Anbernic's devices, this one actually has over-the-air updates. So you just connect to WiFi, and hit "Start Update" in the settings. It does the rest for you. Pretty simple. 🙂
THIS! I've watched at least a dozen videos on this product, and this one answered the questions I needed answered (the game list quality and over the air updates). Awesome video! Can I add the Pico 8 software from the device itself or do I need to plug into a computer? Thank you! *subscribed*
Wow. That's so encouraging to hear. Thank you! I haven't tried adding Pico-8 to it because mine came with a ton of Pico-8 games on it already. PLUS it already had Splore on it too. I've used it a few times and it seems to work well. Thanks for watching and I hope to see you around!
Good solid review sir, I am just wanting a retro handheld device that I dont have to "update" all the time or "load" whatever I want to play, just turn on and go.
Thanks! I have one on the RG353V as well if you’re interested. ua-cam.com/video/8u5CmvApfUg/v-deo.htmlsi=dn_-x61Y3hBfn6Xs If I had to choose between the two, I’d probably go with the RGB30 because of its great curation of ROMs and its bigger screen. Thanks for watching! 🙂
@BoKnowsGaming Love the video, has made me decide to buy one of these. I gotta ask, what's the game you're playing at the 2 minutes 12 seconds? The one with the guy climbing the building, it looks rad!
If you go to game collection settings, there are some premade folders that you can turn on that will sort all your games into collections. Like there’s a “Racing” collection you can turn on and so forth. That’s one way to find the genre you want a little quicker. You can also hide systems in the settings menu that you don’t want displayed on the Home Screen. And if you take out the TF2/Games card and put it in your computer, you can backup the ROMs folder to your hard drive, then delete any currently unwanted games/ROMs from your microSD card. And finally, you can “favorite” games by selecting the game, hitting Y (or maybe X, can’t remember) and scrolling down to “Add to Favoites”. Those are just a few suggestions off the top of my head. Hope that helps! Happy gaming! 🙂
I just bought the retroid pocket 3+ based on your review from two months ago, honestly is there anyway I can make it look and function like Jelos? I don’t mind getting the roms and setting it up myself
The RP3+ is a great choice if you can afford it and don’t mind finding the ROMs. It’s more powerful than the RGB30. I don’t think there’s anything that looks like JelOS on it. But if I were you I’d try installing Daijisho from the Play Store. It’s a front end that organizes your ROMs and gives you theme choices. It looks REALLY good. Hope that helps! 🙂
@@BoKnowsGaming thank you so much for your reply. I really like the screensaver function that you were showing your video where a screensaver can be turned on and even played from is that a feature that exist an android that you know of? I’m prepping my sd card and can’t wait for the rg3 to arrive
@@StevenT-f8j I don't know if that feature exists on Android yet, but these things are constantly being improved and it's hard to keep up with it all. I agree, the screensaver feature is really cool. I like it a lot, and it's helped me discover some new games. 👍

@BoKnowsGaming another rgb30 issue is when it's off and plug in to power it does not come on . I have to unplug it from power then power it on then I can plug it back in to power . It also is the slowest charging retro handheld I've ever used
I’m glad you got it working! I’ve had minor sound issues, but it’s always been solved by rebooting. I’ve heard other people talk about the charging being weird too. I would choose this because it has joysticks and a bigger screen. If it was this or the RG35XX H… then I’m not sure. The H has sticks and saves you some money. Performance wise they’re similar. You’re getting a W product either way.
Yes. Thank you for pointing that out! 🙂 It works ok if you just need to tap on something every once in a while. If the gameplay is heavy on touch mechanics it makes it difficult to play though.
Could you please check if it has pokemon games such as Pokémon emerald or just any Pokémon at all. If you could also check for a game named froggo and if it has super mario bros 3 and the original. Thank you!😊
There are a LOT of Pokémon games, including Emerald. There are a bunch of Mario games including those two as well. At least in the 128gb version, which is what I have. I’ve never heard of Froggo. There are a few Frogger games if that’s what you meant. 🤷♂️ Hope that helps!
I got the 128gb one on Amazon. Came with a screen protector and a case. I got it on sale for $95. It’s back to its normal price of $120 now, but my affiliate link in the description takes you to an Amazon listing (as of December 8th, 2023) that has a $15 off coupon making it $105!
What a lousy argument that no one is going to play more than 4h at one time anyway, point is that if you need to be charging the portable all the time it becomes a nuisance and sometimes you even cant charge it before next playsession when you want to continue where you left of. Im not saying this device has poor battery life my experience comes from miyoo mini plus and that 3h+ gametime sucks 😅
It wasn’t really an argument. I was just trying to put a positive spin on a negative point of the device and remind all of us that there’s more to life than gaming. Thanks for watching. Have a great day! 🙂
I'm a fan of the intent of this handheld, but common issues seem to be backlight bleed, buttons that just fail (my start button was DOA), and false diagonals. My current unit has all three of these.
