i think i would like this if i ever have more personal notes to add to books, but i tend to do this with a physical journal! do you also have a physical journal for book thoughts?
the arc of the red polo had me very invested! how happy i was to see him waiting for you! "oh hello, you came back" i sometimes wish storygraph were more interactive but i think it's a blessing for me that basically it's just a long list of titles with dates. do i need YET ANOTHER social media platform to engage with? probably not. on that note, i've had the slight urge to join letterboxd recently 🧐
WE NEED SOPHIE ON ANOTHER SOCIAL APP! i think about this often, which ones i actually use to communicate and if i actually need it! helps me clear off useless stuff on my phone and i always feel less heavy when i delete an app !
Hearing you chat to the camera (14:16) about influencing vs being influenced reminds me of this brilliant rant by the character Blandine in Tess Gunty's The Rabbit Hutch. I just finished reading the book. If you've not read it, I highly recommend it.
Switch to Storygraph, it’s soooo much nicer and better for the world 🌍 Speaking of the world, I love how I feel so much more well travelled because of your videos. You didn’t give us feet but you did give knees for days. I want that Calvin Klein shirt. Can’t believe you didn’t get it for me, what have all these buddy reads been for? Hahahaha 😅 Glad you got that red polo. And found another toilet of amazement.
i think that’s why i love vlogs so much! i stay so informed about other places and i always LOVE adding new places to my google maps! LOL here’s to hoping the CK shirt is still there for you whenever i end up going back 😭 and can’t WAIT for our Mishima buddy read! should be a fruitful one!
Nathan, I’m obsessed with the song playing during the fiorucci interlude …the male singing. I’ve tried using Shazam. It won’t pick it up. Do you happen to know it? I think it’s a version of Juna…! Btw I’m now finally checking out ur Spotify. I love curated lists 🥰🥰🥰
my own bedroom is my favorite place but I don't wear pajamas anymore. As for brautigan it's true he was a very funny and a kind of whimsical writer who was identified with what was called the hippie or counterculture movement back then. His book revenge of the lawn is my favorite. The suicide note after he shot himself read: "Messy, isn't it?" A joker till the end!⚛
love creating sanctuaries for our bedrooms! the pajamas are just the uniform for it all! i think i was initially drawn to Brautigan because he was a writer from the movement so i was curious about what the literature looked like then (loved the Merry Pranksters!). it was either too transgressive or light and fun like Brautigan.
I've never been so early to a video before! I've also rarely been so inspired by a youtuber! (and I very rarely comment, hence the absolutely useless comment lol)
I have been trying to find the right booktuber to recommend my favorite book series to and somehow, I think that person is you. Please, please, please read the "Tales of the City" series by Armistead Maupin. It was started as a series in a San Francisco newspaper in the 70's and continues up until today. I just think with your love for everything retro and vintage...you will GET this like none other, and you will be hooked. It was also a PBS series at one point, and maybe HBO? Olympia Dukakis and Laura Linney are amazingly well cast in their parts. I just have a gut feeling you will love this series!! I hope like hell that you see this message and can get your hands on the series. You won't regret it. 💜
SO MUCH BETTER! but i also think about this, the amenities here and if they were transported back home. it would be so nice! but so easily vandalized or abused. there’s a major respect for objects and public utilities here!
I am so disappointed by the lack of easy communication on both Goodreads and Storygraph. Why make commenting so hard? Isn't that what we want? Comment on a status and review and talk about the book.
i think they’re very black and white apps. where goodreads is all communication and storygraph has none at all ! no medium cool unfortunately 😭😭😭 if goodreads just gets around to better UI then i would be invested !!!
You’ve convinced me…I need to get a proper pajama set. I’m excited about this. 😊. You make them look so fashionable! That song, with the lyrics in the middle of the video, do you know what it was? I must download it IM EDIATELY. @discoking is so good at telling it straight. 👏👏👏 Do you like shop girl? I love Steve Martin’s writing and always enjoyed his writing in The New Yorker.
@@nathansnook, thanks so much. I’m listening to it right now on the plane to CO. What a mood it’s creating. I have you to thank for keeping me modern 🥰🥰🥰.
I love Beuys (*pronounced "boys")
And that slice of cake looks so good 😢

@@nathansnook i do! but honestly i don’t keep up with it as religiously as i do storygraph. the convenience of digitial journaling is so real lol
THANKS FOR THE SHOUTOUT MR. NOOK!!
BIG LUV TO YA KING!!!
Just have to say I am obsessed with this intro! The video is quite a treat, as always it makes me more excited about life.

dude Richard Brautigan is one of my favorite writers, A Confederate General is a masterpiece.
he needs to appear on the tubes more!
i’ve not done this one before! might be my next Brautigan when i get back to him ✨🙌🏼
I legit emailed Goodreads to include .5 star ratings and they were like “nah bro soz”
HAHAHA SAME !!! literally need a petition at this point 🙃
