I love that you said you didn’t have much time… but watched 21 films 🤣🍿 I reeeeeally liked Longlegs. It was like a movie version of my perfect kind of thriller. Crime with a whiff of horror. I also keep saying ‘look, it’s the almost birthday girl’ round the house. I saw Cruel Intentions at the cinema when it came out. I’m so old. 😢
i liked Longlegs enough!!! aesthetically grabbed, but i wish there was a stronger connection to the murders and the end. just felt like it was missing that OOMF! OH MY GOD CRUEL INTENTIONS AT THE CINEMA ?! sooo jealous of this experience it must’ve been such a romp 😭
a susan sontag MOVIE?!?!!? WHAT!!!!!!!!!!! i learn so much from these videos!!!! i love cruel intentions, i think i need a rewatch. the last days of disco was one of my contenders for an august watch, but i didn't get it to it but you've reminded me that i need to watch it
"I've always been afraid of Susan Sontag's works" This made me laugh as I'm reading Illness as Metaphor right now and having a hard time getting through it, despite how short it is and my personal connection to breast cancer. Interested in this film, though!
how tough this must be when your personal life intermixes with the text. this is what i’m afraid of! i hope you’re trudging along okay in life and in Sontag ✨🕊️
so glad you make these videos, always end up adding to my watchlist!! although you made me watch looking for mr goodbar and that traumatised me lmaoooo
@@nathansnook i actually enjoyed most of it, the ending was just so brutal i didn't expect it, but i was gonna watch it anyway for miss keaton who is fantastic in it!! i do luv 70s cinema
honestly Cage has become kinda "Flanderized" as an actor, he just gets cast as these crazy characters to the point where it feels like we've seen it before! need to watch My Hustler, I love Warhol's films at least conceptually, though sometimes they can be a bit of a chore. Julien Donkey-Boy is so good, I'm obsessed with the Dogme95 style. thanks for the shoutout man, love ya too! very glad you liked Last Days Of Disco, it's so so good, the dialogue is so stellar and that soundtrack! we need to bring those movies back. interesting you mention Kicking and Screaming, because I think that movie is extremely Stillman inspired, even having Chris Eigeman in a lead role!
i wonder if Cage needs to take the Carey route and move into something like Kidding, which i thought was fantastic from what i've seen of it. i'm also a conceptual gazer of Warhol's work! i'm curious about them in craft and really nothing else. they're mostly a chore, but i wonder if that's because i'm sat at home. i very much enjoy them in galleries, but this one was short enough to pull through. need to watch more of the Dogme95 films! which have you watched? yes to Kicking and Screaming! except i think Baumbach was doing a bad Stillman. i felt the lines, especially the punchlines, were either overwritten or overdelivered :s
@@nathansnook I agree with Warhol, I've often found myself pretty bored with his films but at the same time I really like stylistically what he was doing! Dogme95 is quite similar like that for me too! I love the aesthetics and ideas more than I end up enjoying the films themselves really. honestly Kicking and Screaming is the only Baumbach I really love, which I think says a lot more about me than Baumbach!
Such good films here. It's funny bc I was talking about AI the other day and thinking about how I would feel watching it these days, if it aged well (?) lol. Your review of Cruel Intentions is on spot, so funny. Also the light on the wall behind you in beginning 👌🏽! Love listening to you always 🤍
how funny! i mean, i don't think it holds up very well in the cgi department, but there was something charming and quirky about it, almost uncanny valley in a way. the moral questions still stand, but definitely worth revisiting! i always feel like it's one that undershines when we think of Spielberg's work! thanks for taking the time to watch! means a lot
hi! i've just come across your channel around an hour ago and i just wanted to say that i adore your videos. you clearly pour so much love into them, i'm already hooked and i've only watched a couple. your instagram is so pretty too i just had to follow! ⭐️

it’s a fun one! great dialogue to learn from. and yes !!! a Sontag movie !!! it’s interesting to know what she enjoys writing fiction about lol

Long legs - “the marketers sold it better than the movie did” - FACTS
omg what did you think of the end?? i just…kinda shrugged my shoulders and was like, “at least that was fun!”
@@nathansnook yea I felt the same way, pretty movie but overall mid
Have you seen My Dinner With Andre? That's a great talking film.
another film that has been on my list for forever !!! might have to do it for september !
