For the DRVK install, I think it's the computer operating system that matters here. I did x32 at first, and my game stuttered like crazy. I then used the x64 version, and now my game runs buttery smooth.
Hi there. That's a nice theory you formed, but I just tried this, and unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the case. Even RIVA Tuner acknowledges that the VULKAN API is not being hooked through GTA IV when you use the x64 version, it only reads it when the x32 version is being used. This is because GTA IV is not a 64-bit game. However, DXVK may not be necessary if you're experiencing stutters. What's your average framerate?
Because DXVK is not only for GTA IV, it’s for many other games too. If you look through the “about DXVK” on GitHub, it explains what games it works for. GTA IV is one of the 32-bit games that DXVK supports, so it works only with x32.
@@NotAJ im not sure how this works but all i can add is when i use the 32 bit version it crashes, my gpu drivers is up to date and the 4090 uses vulkan 1.3+, but when i use the x64 it runs, not sure if better but works.

I dont get how you dont experience the map pop in and out with the customizable niko mod. Whenever i install that after 5 minutes the game is unloading before my eyes
I downgraded to 1080 and installed all mods like you said. After loading into the game it crashes after like 10 seconds. I just see Nico in his apartment and it crashes back to my desktop...

I always had a problem using Traffic Loader in my game, it would always mess up texture streaming and the world would stop loading, cause major pop in or building models would stay in LOD.
@@NotAJ Yep, I always use those on all my installs. It also automatically uses them in the commandline provided in the downgrader tool. Ive tried it with both retail and Steam releases too and no changes. So I can only assume its either Thundersmacker's lore friendly cars that is causing it, or it doesnt like working alongside Fastman's Limit Adjuster. But it works fine when I remove the Traffic Loader.
Ooooh, that might do it. Sometimes car mods will cause issues with texture streaming. Thundersmacker’s cars are by far extraordinary and I love them! But car mods in general, especially if you have a bulk of them installed, can cause some memory leaks ☹️ Another tip or suggestion would be to take some modded cars out of the Traffic Loader’s config and see how it behaves!
amazing video! very helpful and a great improvement to the game, however im not sure if its liberty rushes aquatic traffic but for some reason theres vertical ships floating in random areas of the city(not too many so not overly annoying but ruins immersion). Would you know any fix by chance? appreciate you in advance
Thank you so much ❤Yeah! These mods for sure improve the game a ton. Also, as far as that issue you're having, you'll want to delete every save game, then start a brand new one. That's the only way to do it, sadly.

@@NotAJ Well, I am just using the CE Steam version, with FusionFix, VariousFixes, DXVK's latest release, and DayL's Natural TimeCycle and to be fair I am not missing iCEnhancer 3.0.1 this way, and it runs way smoother. I am gonna search for some more graphics mods that could work in the combination I've got right now.

Hello, i followed the steps correctly and evey mod seems to work ingame, though i encountered a bug and its really frustrating me, the prompt to use the tw@t computers doesnt show and im stuck on the mission "logging on" any ideas for a fix or should i just downgrade and mod the game from scratch again?
Yeah. Typically, if you experience issues where the in-game computers, bowling alleys, hotdog stands, or any activities don't have prompts for them, it's because your game-save was corrupt. Certain map mods or altering-pedestrian behavior type of mods will cause this from what I understand.
Only some of them do, that being: DXVK, Improved Animations Pack, Bullet Penetration, Beaten & Bruised, Sprint In Interiors, Customizable Niko, Another One Map & Radar Mod, and Whiz Wireless Cellphone. But, to be honest with you, downgrading to 1080 is the same as playing on the Complete Edition. I would suggest downgrading to get the full experience 🙂
hey, I installed all the mods in this video and only those. when I boot the game and spend a couple seconds playing around my fps starts gradually decreasing. it goes from 165 to 30 in a matter of seconds. the longer I play the more frames I lose, and the fps never goes back up. It's literally unplayable. anyone else experience this or know what could be causing it?
it turs out that Liberty Tweaks by catsmackaroo is the culprit. when I disable it everything is fine. I wonder why it does that because i'd still like to ues the mod:(
OpenIV is not a mod, it's an archive tool that you can use to replace certain in-game files with modified versions. It's definitely necessary to download.
This is a REALLY good question 🙋♂️ Car mods will work on ANY version of GTA IV and are supported as long as you don’t run into issues. I’d recommend making sure you have a commandline in the event you run into texture loss.

Great video AJ!! I am having an issue with in game FPS. After installing all of the mods in this list, when I first load into the game I have around 80-90 FPS this then gradually drops over a couple of minutes to around 17-20 fps. I have tried changing my in game graphic settings and it seems to have no effect. Do you have any ideas as to why im leaking FPS?? RTX 2080 super, i7, 16gb ram.
Lol that is so weird 😂 So here’s what I would try. I would insist that you install one mod at a time and find the root to the problem. I can’t even take a good guess at what this might be :(

just tried playing after installing all the mods in the video and everything is good execpt that when i am in the appartement to test the game everything is good including the map but when i go outside and go to see the map again its just a white block and if i try to go back in the game it just black screen and crashes anyone knows how to fix this? thanks.

And I was searching how to fix the sutter cinematics and because of the video you send to me I know that it's the Zolika patch, thanks. I had the issue where the motor bikes where almost impossible to handle and the cars keep making burns always. My god since the mods it's way better it's a shame rockstar make such a bad pc port.

Hello there! You need to submit another application but write "Secondary App" to get the Discord link at the end. Try copying the invite code, going to Discord, and pasting it when trying to join a server.
This was a very nice detailed video tutorial. Followed every step for all of the mods. However, upon loading the intro scene, there was an error pop-up saying: "An error occured in LibertyTweaks.Main Tick." "Method not found: 'UInt32 IVSDKDotNet.Native.Natives.GET_INT_STAT(UInt32)'." I've tried Googling the error message, but to no avail. Perhaps you may have an idea what's causing this error?

So I got everything working (only did Liberty Tweaks along with downgrading) but I take a major fps hit when I have Liberty Tweaks installed any ideas? I do have DXVK installed and working.
Update: Checked the log files in IVSDKDotNet.log and noticed personalvehicle.cs kept being dumped here over and over. I disabled the personal vehicle and now its running fine very weird maybe i missed something lol
According to other comments, people suggest that it might be due to the “personal vehicle” aspect. If you go into the configuration file and disable it, then it should solve your problem. Let me know if that does it.
For the map mod I keep crashing when I press escape to see it. It becomes white the map no roads then it crashes. There a way to fix? There are also 2 types dxt1 and A8R8G8. I did the latter. Will try the first one maybe I chose the wrong one.
I included 4k and 6k in the mod, but I'm not sure if game actually can work with 6k I had crashes with 4k and A8R8G8B8 option. With DXT1 compression even my dead PC can run. But personally I'm using 2k with A8R8G8B8. It's uncompressed and not blurry DXT1 distorting the colors, I don't like that, but some people can prefer this one because of optimization
@@Oneiroknott Yesss, that's EXACTLY true. Like I said in the video, sometimes some people will have to reduce their resolution down to 2K instead of using 4K or 6K. It depends on people's systems. I always recommend using DXT1 regardless.
This is more than likely due to the “Another One Map & Radar” mod. Please choose the DXT1 option and pick the one with 2048-resolution. This should solve your problems.
The download works for me, but you likely downloaded ClonksCodingLib. When you go onto GTA Forums, you will see and want to click the 'DOWNLOAD' button. From that point, it will take you to GitHub, to which you'll want to first download IV-SDKNET and ClonksCodingLib. Then, click on 'LibertyTweaks 1.5', scroll to the bottom, and click on LibertyTweaks1.5.zip 🙂
I love this tutorial. I just followed all of your steps but I keep crashing during loading screens whenever I reload my saves or start my new game. Also the resource usage limit is still capped at 512 MB. Can you help me with these?
So that’s probably because of what I put in the pinned comment. If you’re using “Another One Map & Radar Mod”, then that’s why. I would stick to using DXT1 with 2048-resolution. Otherwise you may run into a few issues. As for the resource usage being capped at 512 MB, you’ll want to create a commandline text file in your game folder and write the following arguments separately line by line: -nomemrestrict -norestrictions
Pls help me out, i recently got a powerful pc build near about as good as yours. I want to play with ENBs and all these fixes. Now the icenhancer and oroject revive requires 1.0.4, your fixes videos rrquires 1.0.8 What to do? I want the fixes as well, i want the enb as well and all those tree textures , road teztires and light fix mods that dayL keeps releasing on discord. I am very confused. Pls help My preference is more towards visuals as i got a good gpu now, but i want this video fixes too. Suggest some way what to do
I followed the downgrader video and check to see if I had the trainer and other things you were mentioning then I did all the steps in this video but when I launch PlayGTA.exe it starts but in the menu it shows nothing but the screenart with niko and the dlc I had to press enter in order to start the game but before I load in it closes and kicks me to desktop
I could restart cause I have a backup how do I restore it to it's original game directory if I can't I can reinstall and try again cause I swear I did everything right
This could be due to one of two things. (A) It is likely that you did not launch the game for the first time before downgrading, or (B) you may need to move your GTA IV folder to another location on your PC.
Is it possible to download Improved animations pack with Fusion Overloader? I don't wanna replace the files incase i don't like it or have a problem with it.
@@ash735I came across 1 problem. They are A-posing, and i can't load a new game unless i have a save file. I found a solution for the A-pose but now i face a new game problem and a "Hand" weapon that when pressed + hold makes you in a stance. Press A while holding it makes it not spin to the left but stays in where the camera was clicked and held.
I hate to even say this, but the current video I have for that (besides the downgrading process) is all the same. I will however trim out the downgrading part in that video, so it’s a good thing you reminded me.

To be exact, I’d say these: • ZolikaPatch • DXVK • Improved Animations Pack • Beaten & Bruised • Bullet Penetration • Simple Traffic Loader • Sprint in Interiors • Another One Map & Radar • Customizable Niko • Whiz Wireless Phone As a substitute for Better Wardrobes not being compatible on version 1040, I would suggest using ZMenuIV, Simple Native Trainer, or Liberty Legacy Trainer.
your tutorials are all over the place dude like you post in every comment section for the past 4 how to videos of another part. why not explain how everything works and what is needed in one video?
I'm always open to criticism, but this seems way more different than that. My last four tutorials have been about how to downgrade, this video, how to install the snow mod, and how to install car mods. Four videos to which none of them, except one, are relevant to each other. It makes sense to do it this way. If I'm looking for a specific tutorial on how to install a certain mod or improve my game in a certain way, I'll only care about watching that specific video on how to do it. But hey, if you can do it better, then by all means make one and show me.
better wardrobe doesn't show me the menu for chancing clothes it stays the same standard wardrobe but customizable niko works but only has long hair and gloves

Colored HD Radio is totally a good thing to have! Keep in mind that I made this mod list with respect to 'improving the gameplay'. So nothing in terms of crazy visual appeal was considered. I did feature this mod in my "Making GTA 4 Like GTA 5 (With Mods)" video.

Typically, it’s recommended to do that. I’m not sure what’s causing the crash. I would like to think that it has to do with any radio downgrades, but I can’t say 100% for sure. Did you do any of those?
It’s possible. I mean you can use certain scripts on the Complete Edition as long as you have (a) ScriptHook itself, and (b) the Compatibility Patch. However, I’ve discovered that you can still run into a ton of problems. Because of this, the Complete Edition has been considered the lowest ranked for mod support. I’d recommend downgrading to either versions 1070 or 1080 to experience the best modding support for the game and also experience the DLC if you intend on playing them!

@@ash735 Actually it's a shame that FF can't work together with the ZPatch. I would understand if it was just an versions issue, but it was done on purpose. I'd like to use updated FF, but i can't, because my modpack relies on some car related features, that ZPatch provides.
By the way, I saw in the FF changelog that the cars were redone due to broken normals. May I know about the method? Have you guys fixed the script for 3dmax?
@@VLODKOS_2nd_channel It was done on purpose by one side BECAUSE ZPatch would crash the game if used together, we tried to work with Zolika but they wouldn't share any details about their mods to mitigate the issues. There's a branch from Gillgan that is made to pre-pack an INI with the certain things disabled in both so there's no conflicts however.
I think it was Liberty Tweaks Mod but after installing and running the game, it'll say the dsound.dll file is outdated or something and to use xliveless.dll or 8dinput.dll or whatever it's called. I installed an asi loader i think to update it since researching had me thinking that's the right thing to do but the game doesn't launch at all after that no matter how many times, I try to replace that one file with the most up to date file and with both even trying 64bit since someone said that fixed their problem, but I haven't found anything to work. I want to replace the file with the correct one because it says I might run into problems because of it. Does anyone know what I should do or download?

For the DRVK install, I think it's the computer operating system that matters here. I did x32 at first, and my game stuttered like crazy. I then used the x64 version, and now my game runs buttery smooth.
Hi there. That's a nice theory you formed, but I just tried this, and unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the case. Even RIVA Tuner acknowledges that the VULKAN API is not being hooked through GTA IV when you use the x64 version, it only reads it when the x32 version is being used. This is because GTA IV is not a 64-bit game. However, DXVK may not be necessary if you're experiencing stutters. What's your average framerate?

Because DXVK is not only for GTA IV, it’s for many other games too. If you look through the “about DXVK” on GitHub, it explains what games it works for. GTA IV is one of the 32-bit games that DXVK supports, so it works only with x32.
@@NotAJ im not sure how this works but all i can add is when i use the 32 bit version it crashes, my gpu drivers is up to date and the 4090 uses vulkan 1.3+, but when i use the x64 it runs, not sure if better but works.

I always had a problem using Traffic Loader in my game, it would always mess up texture streaming and the world would stop loading, cause major pop in or building models would stay in LOD.
Hmmm, that's strange 🤔Have you tried using a commandline with the "-nomemrestrict" and "-norestrictions"? Try those and do let me know.
@@NotAJ Yep, I always use those on all my installs. It also automatically uses them in the commandline provided in the downgrader tool. Ive tried it with both retail and Steam releases too and no changes. So I can only assume its either Thundersmacker's lore friendly cars that is causing it, or it doesnt like working alongside Fastman's Limit Adjuster. But it works fine when I remove the Traffic Loader.
Ooooh, that might do it. Sometimes car mods will cause issues with texture streaming. Thundersmacker’s cars are by far extraordinary and I love them! But car mods in general, especially if you have a bulk of them installed, can cause some memory leaks ☹️ Another tip or suggestion would be to take some modded cars out of the Traffic Loader’s config and see how it behaves!
Is there any mod like helicopter missile aim lock for gta 4 because its very hard in gta 4 tbgt to aim and fire missile in pc in yusuf mission.
There is the GTA V Buzzard mod by JulioNIB but it does require a downgrade to version 1070 to use it.

@@NotAJ Well, I am just using the CE Steam version, with FusionFix, VariousFixes, DXVK's latest release, and DayL's Natural TimeCycle and to be fair I am not missing iCEnhancer 3.0.1 this way, and it runs way smoother.

Hello, i followed the steps correctly and evey mod seems to work ingame, though i encountered a bug and its really frustrating me, the prompt to use the tw@t computers doesnt show and im stuck on the mission "logging on" any ideas for a fix or should i just downgrade and mod the game from scratch again?
nvm, the save file was corrupted somehow and i just ended up starting a new game which solved the issue, anyways great video.
Yeah. Typically, if you experience issues where the in-game computers, bowling alleys, hotdog stands, or any activities don't have prompts for them, it's because your game-save was corrupt. Certain map mods or altering-pedestrian behavior type of mods will cause this from what I understand.

But, to be honest with you, downgrading to 1080 is the same as playing on the Complete Edition. I would suggest downgrading to get the full experience 🙂
hey, I installed all the mods in this video and only those. when I boot the game and spend a couple seconds playing around my fps starts gradually decreasing. it goes from 165 to 30 in a matter of seconds. the longer I play the more frames I lose, and the fps never goes back up. It's literally unplayable. anyone else experience this or know what could be causing it?
it turs out that Liberty Tweaks by catsmackaroo is the culprit. when I disable it everything is fine. I wonder why it does that because i'd still like to ues the mod:(
ok, seems like the issue was the personal vehicle addon inside of it. disabled it and now i'm finally able to play using liberty tweaks

OpenIV is not a mod, it's an archive tool that you can use to replace certain in-game files with modified versions. It's definitely necessary to download.
do you know if the car mods you used in your “making moves in liberty city” videos are still supported or outdated?
This is a REALLY good question 🙋♂️ Car mods will work on ANY version of GTA IV and are supported as long as you don’t run into issues. I’d recommend making sure you have a commandline in the event you run into texture loss.

After installing all of the mods in this list, when I first load into the game I have around 80-90 FPS this then gradually drops over a couple of minutes to around 17-20 fps. I have tried changing my in game graphic settings and it seems to have no effect. Do you have any ideas as to why im leaking FPS??

Hello there! You need to submit another application but write "Secondary App" to get the Discord link at the end. Try copying the invite code, going to Discord, and pasting it when trying to join a server.
This was a very nice detailed video tutorial. Followed every step for all of the mods. However, upon loading the intro scene, there was an error pop-up saying:
"An error occured in LibertyTweaks.Main Tick."
"Method not found: 'UInt32 IVSDKDotNet.Native.Natives.GET_INT_STAT(UInt32)'."
I've tried Googling the error message, but to no avail. Perhaps you may have an idea what's causing this error?

So I got everything working (only did Liberty Tweaks along with downgrading) but I take a major fps hit when I have Liberty Tweaks installed any ideas? I do have DXVK installed and working.
Update: Checked the log files in IVSDKDotNet.log and noticed personalvehicle.cs kept being dumped here over and over. I disabled the personal vehicle and now its running fine very weird maybe i missed something lol
According to other comments, people suggest that it might be due to the “personal vehicle” aspect. If you go into the configuration file and disable it, then it should solve your problem. Let me know if that does it.

Hey could you please teach me how to install HD weapons I'm really confused and I've never installed a mod like it
For the map mod I keep crashing when I press escape to see it. It becomes white the map no roads then it crashes. There a way to fix? There are also 2 types dxt1 and A8R8G8. I did the latter. Will try the first one maybe I chose the wrong one.
Nvm found out it was just the version I picked was very demanding. Choice a less demanding one and its working good.
I included 4k and 6k in the mod, but I'm not sure if game actually can work with 6k
I had crashes with 4k and A8R8G8B8 option. With DXT1 compression even my dead PC can run. But personally I'm using 2k with A8R8G8B8. It's uncompressed and not blurry
DXT1 distorting the colors, I don't like that, but some people can prefer this one because of optimization
@@Oneiroknott Yesss, that's EXACTLY true. Like I said in the video, sometimes some people will have to reduce their resolution down to 2K instead of using 4K or 6K. It depends on people's systems. I always recommend using DXT1 regardless.

This is more than likely due to the “Another One Map & Radar” mod. Please choose the DXT1 option and pick the one with 2048-resolution. This should solve your problems.

On the liberty tweaks download site are files missing. I only get 2 .dll files but not the files you showed in the video.
The download works for me, but you likely downloaded ClonksCodingLib. When you go onto GTA Forums, you will see and want to click the 'DOWNLOAD' button. From that point, it will take you to GitHub, to which you'll want to first download IV-SDKNET and ClonksCodingLib. Then, click on 'LibertyTweaks 1.5', scroll to the bottom, and click on LibertyTweaks1.5.zip 🙂

So that’s probably because of what I put in the pinned comment. If you’re using “Another One Map & Radar Mod”, then that’s why. I would stick to using DXT1 with 2048-resolution. Otherwise you may run into a few issues. As for the resource usage being capped at 512 MB, you’ll want to create a commandline text file in your game folder and write the following arguments separately line by line:
-nomemrestrict
-norestrictions

Sorry about that 🥺 OpenIV is basically an archive tool specifically for the use of replacing or modifying in-game files, archives, and configurations.
I followed the downgrader video and check to see if I had the trainer and other things you were mentioning then I did all the steps in this video but when I launch PlayGTA.exe it starts but in the menu it shows nothing but the screenart with niko and the dlc I had to press enter in order to start the game but before I load in it closes and kicks me to desktop
I could restart cause I have a backup how do I restore it to it's original game directory if I can't I can reinstall and try again cause I swear I did everything right
This could be due to one of two things. (A) It is likely that you did not launch the game for the first time before downgrading, or (B) you may need to move your GTA IV folder to another location on your PC.

Yes, you can just put the animation files inside an IMG in the update folder.
@@ash735I came across 1 problem. They are A-posing, and i can't load a new game unless i have a save file. I found a solution for the A-pose but now i face a new game problem and a "Hand" weapon that when pressed + hold makes you in a stance. Press A while holding it makes it not spin to the left but stays in where the camera was clicked and held.

As a substitute for Better Wardrobes not being compatible on version 1040, I would suggest using ZMenuIV, Simple Native Trainer, or Liberty Legacy Trainer.

I'm always open to criticism, but this seems way more different than that. My last four tutorials have been about how to downgrade, this video, how to install the snow mod, and how to install car mods. Four videos to which none of them, except one, are relevant to each other. It makes sense to do it this way. If I'm looking for a specific tutorial on how to install a certain mod or improve my game in a certain way, I'll only care about watching that specific video on how to do it. But hey, if you can do it better, then by all means make one and show me.

It’s likely due to the “Another One Map & Radar” mod, I would recommend using the DXT1 and 2048 option for it. This should fix your problems.

Colored HD Radio is totally a good thing to have! Keep in mind that I made this mod list with respect to 'improving the gameplay'. So nothing in terms of crazy visual appeal was considered. I did feature this mod in my "Making GTA 4 Like GTA 5 (With Mods)" video.
Everything works fine but the game seems to crash every time I start a new game and I can't figure out why. Any tips to fix this?
Hey there! That’s so strange. Are you trying to load up a new game from a current one?

I would try clearing your save game files (delete them all) and start a fresh new one from there, so this way the game starts with a new game.
@@NotAJ It worked when I deleted all my old saves. Though it's weird that I can't start a new game from the pause menu. Do I have to clear all my save files every time I want to start a new game?
Typically, it’s recommended to do that. I’m not sure what’s causing the crash. I would like to think that it has to do with any radio downgrades, but I can’t say 100% for sure. Did you do any of those?
I fucking can't open the anim folder it says the file is corrupted and it doesn't let me drop the animation files.
WHAT?! I’ve never heard of that happening before. Definitely make back ups if you have not already.

It’s possible. I mean you can use certain scripts on the Complete Edition as long as you have (a) ScriptHook itself, and (b) the Compatibility Patch. However, I’ve discovered that you can still run into a ton of problems. Because of this, the Complete Edition has been considered the lowest ranked for mod support. I’d recommend downgrading to either versions 1070 or 1080 to experience the best modding support for the game and also experience the DLC if you intend on playing them!

This is probably due to the "Another One Map & Radar" mod. You should use the DXT1 2048 option :)

Meaning your game folder 📁, which is the first folder that you would see upon going into the game’s files.

@@ash735 Actually it's a shame that FF can't work together with the ZPatch. I would understand if it was just an versions issue, but it was done on purpose.
I'd like to use updated FF, but i can't, because my modpack relies on some car related features, that ZPatch provides.
By the way, I saw in the FF changelog that the cars were redone due to broken normals.

@@VLODKOS_2nd_channel It was done on purpose by one side BECAUSE ZPatch would crash the game if used together, we tried to work with Zolika but they wouldn't share any details about their mods to mitigate the issues. There's a branch from Gillgan that is made to pre-pack an INI with the certain things disabled in both so there's no conflicts however.

I’m sorry but no, actually none of this is for the console versions of GTA IV. This is only for the PC.
I think it was Liberty Tweaks Mod but after installing and running the game, it'll say the dsound.dll file is outdated or something and to use xliveless.dll or 8dinput.dll or whatever it's called. I installed an asi loader i think to update it since researching had me thinking that's the right thing to do but the game doesn't launch at all after that no matter how many times, I try to replace that one file with the most up to date file and with both even trying 64bit since someone said that fixed their problem, but I haven't found anything to work. I want to replace the file with the correct one because it says I might run into problems because of it. Does anyone know what I should do or download?
