  • This milwaukee recip saw was left in for repair as I wouldn't run after being stored in a damp shed under a drip.
The tool holder and shaft rusted up and seized.
It would be possible to simply replace these parts, but millwaukee don't sell them separately.
They force you to buy whole assembly of parts at a high price.
so to replace a few parts it would cost 90 euro in parts.
The best option is to strip it, clean the rust of and regressed everything, and rebuild.
A little more time needed to free up all the parts, but you get the same result.

1000 thank you's for taking time to post this, although my issue was not exactly the same, I had to break it down to clean it and get it moving again. This was a huge help and a Big time saver.

Today I fixed the same saw that I paid $1 for. The machine worked unevenly (fast/slow). I washed the master switch in alcohol and blew out the switch with compressed air. Now it works like new!

❤ Beautiful Take-Apart (and you kept your senses).... but my Gad Man, this means you had your Milwaukee past their 5 year tool help Warranty. This situation just happened just happened to my m18 on the Jobsite tryin' to prune a Palm Tree. Will make me a pot of coffee first then decide to follow your Lead or look carefully for my 4 year plus buried tool Receipt.

He repairs other peoples tools btw.
Also in Europe we only get a 1 year warranty, 3 if you redeem it in the first month after buying.

@@IDuBStepSZ Hi! Thank You for the tip! Yep, I saw my M18 tool receipt was past 5 years, but I sure was lucky in "bringin' my saw back to life" just like he did. Basically, my metal "sleeve/slide" thingy inside the joint had gotten so hot until it kind of melted a bit. Was able to "grind-off" some heated metal and added grease and graphite everywhere, and got things reciprocating again. Forgot to check here if this video is the same one that showed us all to be very careful when opening/exposing the "opposite/reverse" gearbox area. i was able to grease up that area as well without movin' the gears at all (maybe just a little but...). My HackZall's workin' just fine now.

I was pruning a tree. Brand new tool and now the front great part has a bit of play in it and squeaks. Debating going back and grabbing a new one or sending it in to Milwaukee.

@@Tony-tone707 no mate, put it in the vice vertically with the blade facing up so the oil was soaking down and then put all my weight on it and pulled the trigger a few tines

Bosch tool grease, he has two different ones, one is basically nlgi2 or 1.5, the other is nlgi 1.
some expensive stuff when I looked it up.

Not good due to the blade big vibration

Its a bit of a old comment but for anyone else who comes across this and is fixing the same model tool, When you put the two half's back together they have to be set opposite of each other. If you remove the metal discs from each half there is what looks like a key way that you are supposed to insert a plastic key that Milwaukee sells with there rebuild kit, Just make sure the key way lines up by eye when putting the two half's together and you should be fine and you will get none of the blade vibration you see here.
