Nothing will ever surpass the 80's as a child. Wake up at 7am... Gijoes playing, then Transformers... The music, the toy's the videogames, the commercials, the movies, even the sun seemed different back then. It was simply amazing. Such an amazing era.
Yes, especially the early 80s. I remember getting some around 1983/84 (He-man, Skeletor and his Puma cat or whatever it was. It seemed special since it was covered in felt!)
Wow, how did the Ninja Turtles not crack the top 10 yet that lame ass 8-Ball did? And where's The Ghost Busters, WWE Super Stars, M.A.S.K., Voltron, Teddy Ruxpin, Rainbow Bright, Monchichi's, The Smurfs, Pound Puppies, Simon, Jem, Go-Bots, My Pet Monster, Alf and The Big Wheel?
Gotta be honest, I really think the Ninja Turtles should have gotten more than just an honorable mention. I didn't know one kid in the 80s that didn't have at least 2 or 3 Ninja Turtle toys
Daaaaum! I know you can't list ALL of the 80s toys, but no: Voltron, Go-Bots, Battle Beast, M.U.S.C.L.E. Men, Sectaurs, Record Breakers, Big Wheel, Power Wheels, Captain Power, Pogo Ball, Thunder Cats, Silver Hawks, M.A.S.K., Rock Lords, Mad Balls, Inhumanoids, Centurions, Monchichis, Flipsiders, Spirograph, My Buddy, Ghostbuster Slime, Star Wars Lightsaber...I could go on for days! When it comes to 80s toys, there is NO comparison. The 80s was the climax of the toy industry!
KanWoo76 But they are only listing each toy once. Most toys boom when or soon after they are first released. Do you see someone looking at a frisbee or hula hoop today and saying, "Wohhh man, cool!".
KanWoo76 Oh MAN! I woudl deffo have said MUSCLE Men but they were quite a niche toy... Thundercats though - Yeah! Almost as big as He-Man! Should have made Top 10!!!! I am surprised none of the lists have had POCKETEERS either....

Watching Mojo videos from so many years ago really makes me notice how much more _natural_ Rebecca sounds now as a narrator. I don't know if it's just from experience or having a little more freedom to Ad-lib, but she's definitely established herself as a Mojo staple since.
TMNT did make the honorable mentions. The toys were fun and so cheesy. The comic books were another thing all together (and probably what kept TMNT off the list).
GI Joe and Transformers were "the law" where I grew up. Especially since my friends all preferred the Joes, and I preferred COBRA. Using treble fish-hooks and thread for grappling-hooks (we had the smaller figures in Canada), battles in all seasons, in all terrains... Good stuff.
I remember every one of these fads, but was a huge fan of Transformers and GI Joe, while my sister went through phases with Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Pony, and especially Cabbage Patch Kids. It's weird to look back at the toys of my youth, and think about how different childhood was, three decades ago.
What!! No star wars???? Have i missed something, i thought that was one of the most popular toy lines in the 80s. Anyway merry christmas to all at mojo.
Gary Horsburgh The craze "broke" and the phenomenon began in the 1970's when "Star Wars" first emerged into pop culture. It was huge those last three years. Just because it continued to an extent throughout the 1980s doesn't mean it belongs there more. If you have to choose only one, then it's 1970s.
Gary Horsburgh Thanks for being mature enough to listen to others who lived it and not just concerned with defending your original opinion. That is rare on UA-cam. : )
***** yes i know lol, but it was a joke because kids nowadays cant live without their devices. heck even 3 year old's can use them better than 70 year olds >.>
Having been a kid in the '80s, I can attest that many of those were really popular back in the day (although the Magic 8 Ball falls more into that flash in the pan fad category with slap bracelets). Still, I don't remember kids being over the moon for Jenga. That was more popular with adults and maybe teens. It's important to note however that this is video is titled the Top 10 Toy LINES of the 1980s, and Magic 8 Ball, Jenga and Rubiks Cube do not qualify as toy lines. They were just toys. Mr. Potato Head only qualifies ( I guess) because there was also Mrs. Potato Head. I am surprised that Thundercats, Ghostbusters, Pound Puppies, Voltron, Go-Bots (AKA the poor man's Transformers) and He-Man/She-Ra (be honest, it was really just one toy line that they tried to pass off as two separate lines) didn't make the list. As for the folks who mention M.A.S.K., I always felt those fell more into that homogeneous pool of 80's toys that also included Visionaries, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Silverhawks, and Centurions.
It technically is a toy line. After the original cube was created, Rubik also created the 2x2 cube, Rubik's Revenge (4x4) and The Professor's Cube (5x5).
As a kid in the 1980s I played with the Care Bears, Cabbage Patch Kids, the Rubick's Cube, and the Magic 8 Ball. I'm disappointed that Smurfs toys didn't make the list. They were as big as He-Man and the TMNT.

Although Rubik's cube's fame and popularity are unquestionably bigger than those of the rest of the toy lines in this list, I have to say that for me, and probably for a lot more people, when we think about 80's toys Transformers are the first that come to our minds. It's true that Transformers is now a days more relevant than it has ever been before but I feel that if you ask someone to relate the Rubik's cube to a specific decade, most wont probably know what to say, or at least the people I know, while if you ask them about Transformers, everyone talks about how much they played them in the 80's. But of course this is my opinion, and I completely respect and understand this list.
heman was popular in the early 80's. but its popularity died halfway through the 80's especially after Gijoe and Transformers came out. Gijoe was popular all the way to the late 80's

I have a lot of the Ninja Turtles toys, as well as My Little Pony, Jem and the Holograms, Transformers, He-Man, Popples, Gizmo from Gremlins, the list goes on. Then again, I AM a toy collector, and many of the toys have been in my collection since I was a kid. Unlike other kids, I actually took care of my toys and very few are broken. The broken ones are thanks to my brothers who loved to destroy everything they owned lol!
I understand that you removed video games for their own list.. but they really did deserve a mention on this one. They were a huge part of the toy market for the 80's.
What about BARBIE?!?!?! (really, not even an honorable mention??!?! I swore it would be #1!!!)... and where the hell are RAINBOW BRITE and the GHOSTBUSTERS?!?!?!?
Finally can do the Rubiks Cube in under 40 seconds. What’s really challenging is transforming the newer Masterpiece Megatron MP-36, it’s like everything an 80s kid wanted in a Transformer.

I don't like to do much complaining, but it does seem ludicrous that things like Jenga and the Magic 8-Ball made the list but He-Man was only given an honorable mention.
Chris Henderson I see what you're saying, but I still have to call bollocks on this. Video games & board games were available at Toys R Us, but they're not toys.
I would've made Rubix number two and Cabbage Patch dolls number one. Cabbage Patch dolls were the first toy I remember that spurred normally rational, sane adults into acting like animals while trying to obtain the dolls for Christmas. My "Cabbage Patch" doll was homemade by my aunt. The head was cloth instead of plastic, but it looked just like the ones in the store.
Actually I'm a pegasister and had alot of the old ponies and when they came out with g-4 I was surprised but liked them for their almost anime look! And gen maybe not G-3 is cool to me! I even still have one of my old ponies! ^^
I remember looking in a toys R us catalog back then (no internet) and saw the USS FLAG (the huge aircraft carrier if I'm correct) and telling my mother "that's what I want!" Needless to say, I never got it......................

What about Teddy Ruxpin? You know the little bear that had the tape player built in it.

I'd say G.I Joe or He-man
Star Wars should have been on the list
I agree. I did like how they mostly only showed lesser known Transformers.

TMNT did make the honorable mentions. The toys were fun and so cheesy. The comic books were another thing all together (and probably what kept TMNT off the list).

Bruh, Masters of the Universe is THE 80’s toy line. There’s nothing more synonymous with 80’s toys than MOTU and GI Joe.
I'm only here for Transformers
What girl _didn't_ have a Cabbage Patch Kid when they were young?
-I think there were also many boys who had them-
I have the 25 Anniversary Cabbage Patch Kid. Bethany.
A lot of my guy friends had CPKs in the 80s. Mostly the bald-headed one, which were (apparently) regarded as more masculine.
You take a block from the bottom and you put it on top
You take a block from the middle and you put it on top...
I love Janga!
You could have put Barbie back on this list also. I remember my sister going crazy over the Dreamhouse and the Convertible.
I like how people are complaining about bronies being everywhere, yet in the comments I see nothing but people who hate on them...
"bronies"?!
When are you going to make top 10 Hanna-Barbera cartoons
you missed the real ghostbusters toys, great video my tears of joy came out full of great memories
I was a kid when I crave for those robots from Transformers,Gobots,Soul of Chogokin models,Macross toylines and so many more.
Predictable number 1 pick. TMNT only gets an honorable mention? That's f#%king insulting!
Well maybe the 80's cartoon was based on the mirage comics instead of being Jar Jar Binks silly it might be on the list.
@@leo11lim yeah why would they make a kid's cartoon silly and fun when they could've made it dark and violent?
The Slinky, everybody love a slinky....
Fifties thing.
AWW not even an honourable mention for Popples :(
I understand that you removed video games for their own list.. but they really did deserve a mention on this one. They were a huge part of the toy market for the 80's.
Math has nothing to do with solving a Rubik's Cube.
What about BARBIE?!?!?! (really, not even an honorable mention??!?! I swore it would be #1!!!)... and where the hell are RAINBOW BRITE and the GHOSTBUSTERS?!?!?!?
Barbie is in the 60s list
***** 80s Barbie is iconic.. even in Toy Story, the Barbie featured there was from the 80s
Finally can do the Rubiks Cube in under 40 seconds. What’s really challenging is transforming the newer Masterpiece Megatron MP-36, it’s like everything an 80s kid wanted in a Transformer.
Hey! We had the red truck and firetruck Transformers!! Seeing them now is like a real flashback!
I know someone that can do a rubix cube in 10 seconds or less.
I'll bet that he's asian
Nah bra
Rubik's cube*
aiden baron
No he's gay.
I'm Hispanic and I do it in about 40 seconds.
You know the REAL solution to the Rubik's Cube? Remove and re-stick the stickers!
No, that's not cheating. It's called creative problem solving!
RyuTora2808 I popped all the pieces apart and snapped it back together the right way.😱
I remember people beating the crap out of each other in toy stores during the cabbage patch doll craze
I was born in the (late) 90's but my cousins were born in the late 80's and early 90's so I got all their old toys. I am happy about this.
The best movie directors of all time. My Top 10 List

8. Billy Wilder
7. Woody Allen

4. John Ford
3. Charlie Chaplin
2 .Stanley Kubrick

Michael bay
(Sarcasm)

Michael Bay
BOOM! CRASH! BANG! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!! FUCKING BLIZZARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRD!!!!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who watched this just to see what Transformers got?
Me
Patrick Bigwood me
Patrick Bigwood me‼️‼️‼️‼️
Patrick Bigwood me
me too
I don't like to do much complaining, but it does seem ludicrous that things like Jenga and the Magic 8-Ball made the list but He-Man was only given an honorable mention.
Wow. Nostalgia. This was also a great era for board games as well.Totally agree with the list.
Jenga's a game not a toy!
IKR?
but games are found in the toy section so therefore it qualifies as a toy
Chris Henderson I see what you're saying, but I still have to call bollocks on this. Video games & board games were available at Toys R Us, but they're not toys.
There considered toys.
But there also considered electronics, yet hand held games like solitaire or poker and stuff aren't. What's up
I hate that colored cube. Hell no.
Monchichi, Monchichi! Oh so soft & cuddly!
Dinoriders!
Bronies would hate this video anyway because it's pre-G4 MLP, every Brony's biggest fear.
Actually I'm a pegasister and had alot of the old ponies and when they came out with g-4 I was surprised but liked them for their almost anime look!
And gen maybe not G-3 is cool to me! I even still have one of my old ponies! ^^
I don't mind any generation, I'm into classics and new variants. :)
I'm a brony and I like to collect the original ponies as well as G4 ponies, so no. I'm not afraid of older generations.
Stretch Armstrong, The Million Dollar Man (The Bionic Man). Kick N Go, Sit N Spin , Star Wars was huge back then to.
He-Man toys and Turtles toys should have been on the main list, not honorable mentions!
my dad loves g i Joe when he was a kid
and tranformers
I remember looking in a toys R us catalog back then (no internet) and saw the USS FLAG (the huge aircraft carrier if I'm correct) and telling my mother "that's what I want!" Needless to say, I never got it......................
You know my friend is color blind and her birthday is coming up I think I will give her a rubric cube
Any child of the 80's could guess this list. Ahhh the memories...
Merry Christmas watchmojo thanks for all the videos!!! And Merry Christmas to everyone else who reads this!!! 👍
