      The most controversial one is Kinder Surprise, because its actually scary that US kids were the only ones to display such level of stupidity even at that age as to choke down a toy.
      No other country required the banning of Kinder Surprise and it scary how poorly this reflects on US citizens intellectual level as a whole

      I see Cabbage Patch dolls today with plastic bags over their plastic hands so the little ones won't put their eyes out . Man, we were tucked in at night with glo worm heads hard enough to bash ours in and we still woke up and survived, these new gen kids would never survive our rough and tough childhoods.

    Dangerous toys should always come with warning labels.

    • @sonicpsycho13
      @sonicpsycho13 6 місяців тому

      Kids don't read those and aren't expected to comprehend them anyways. In general, people are terrible at assessing risk and usually don't recognize a risk until they have a close call or injury.
      A warning label doesn't absolve a company from its duty to provide a reasonably safe product with expected use, and expected use includes accidental and unintended use. An example of unintended use of a product would be a car collision - a car should be reasonably safe in a collision (airbags, seat belts, etc work as intended, car doesn't explode).

    I'm surprised Teen Talk Barbie didn't make the list. Released in 1992, this doll said, "Math class is tough." which some educators felt would undermine young women from studying the subject. This was even more odd when you consider another phrase she said was, "I'm studying to be a doctor." Which isn't tough???

    My then 9 year old cousin had two or three sky dancers and Furbies (they were both displayed on the middle shelf beside her bed in her room). I think I only got to play one sky dancer toy and it always flew and crash on the carpeted floor.
    I also fondly remember my dad bought me a realistic [black] toy gun in my country, when I was maybe 6.

  • @mojo3318
    @mojo3318 6 місяців тому +6

    I'm familiar with scary sky dancers and snack time kids that snacked on kids. I had no idea about the other toys on this list. Some of these toys sure are dangerous. It's a good thing they're not made anymore. I've had kinder eggs, especially in the United States. But, they weren't kinder surprises.

  • @Jetthehawk1994
    @Jetthehawk1994 6 місяців тому +5

    The Sparks Fly thing also happened with a handful of Transformers in the late 80s. And with how realistic gun toys are mistaken for real ones, it's no surprise Hasbro decided to stop turning Megatron into a gun, although he was a transforming Nerf type gun in 2006.

    I was a kid in the 90s and I did have a lot of Kinder surprise eggs. But given that I'm not from the USA, I was not stupid enough to choke on it and/or I had parents who cared enough to watch me while handling (eating & playing) with one. And so are hundreds of millions (probably billions) of kids around the world for the past couple of decades - except for the USA apparantly...

    • @WinsberryEntertainment
      @WinsberryEntertainment 6 місяців тому +1

      I used to love kinder eggs. Chocolate with a surprise toy. What else would a kid want. Then I got older and realised. The Chocolate wasn't that good and the toys were crap.
      But I never choked on one. My parents warned me there was a toy inside and I listened.

    • @stefanpolomsky1306
      @stefanpolomsky1306 6 місяців тому +1

      @@WinsberryEntertainment Granted, the chocolate is not premium. But it's also not that bad. The toys are crap indeed. But both are sufficient/good enough for kids. Besides: In the past, there used to be collectibles (as per slogan: in every 7th egg), which were comparatively good.

    I never really got the fear of the supposed hazards of the Kinder Surprise eggs. The toy that came inside them was in a capsule inside it, not baked into it, so the kid would have to be REALLY determined to swallow one. Take a look at the Yowie candies that are around now, they're the exact same style as the Kinder Surprise eggs: chocolate covering a capsule with a toy inside (in the Yowie situation, a small toy of an animal). Kinder has the Joy eggs out in the US now (half chocolate half toy) and Bueno (hazelnut spread candy bar)

    • @sonicpsycho13
      @sonicpsycho13 6 місяців тому

      This thing usually gets misrepresented. Kinder Surprises aren't specifically banned, but they happen to fall afoul of the text of a law from the early 1900s. The law explicitly forbids any non-food item from being inside of food. Non-food can be packaged with food, like the prizes in Cracker Jack's, but they can't be mix inside or encased in the food.
      The law came about when a businessman killed a bunch of people by sweetening soda with antifreeze and a candy company put small toys into chocolate bars that caused a bunch of choking deaths in children.

    I would consider "Horrific back stories" to be things that happened BEFORE the toy went on the market. a dark story about the lead up to its invention. THIS is yet another list just like the ones we saw before and before and before of the same stale old predictable entries that you call "Dark" because children got hurt because they lacked the logic not to touch pointy things. that's not a "Back story" that's "!0 toys that were unintentionally dangerous"
    A Dark Back story would be a character who was invented after a child was traumatized from seeing a rotting dead body on display at an amusement park's house of horrors or a toy invented after a weapon of war was dismantled and its its parts reused , or toy that was made from toxic chemicals that killed the inventor. A toy that was invented to teach coroners about anatomy but got turned in to a kid friendly game, a Sport that was originally played by kicking human heads around a field. Those are Dar Back stories.
    these stories are AFFTER the toy was invented so they aren't "Back" story there just "Story"

    Tickle me Elmo saying "Kill me" might've been a mistake. Remove "Ti" and leave "ckle". It might be a sign that the toy battery is dying.

    • @WatchMojo
      @WatchMojo  6 місяців тому +2

      Haha, that would definitely turn Tickle Me Elmo into a horror movie! Maybe it's time for a battery change or an exorcism - you know, just to be on the safe side!
