From eating 1985 G.I.JOE Cereal that tasted like chemicals, to Drinking a 29 year old Miller Lite Beer (that had Rust Particles) to try and help the Buffalo Bills finally win the Super Bowl...if it looks like food or drink, the L.A. BEAST is consuming it. (Most of The Time)
A few years back, the co-creator of Rick & Morty "Justin Roiland", sent L.A. BEAST 3 Vietnam War Special Forces LRP (Long Range Patrol) Meal Rations that were all well over 50 years old. Most Mre's have a shelf life of 3 years, with some lasting 5, 10 & even 20 years if stored properly. After tasting 51 year old Spaghetti & Meat Sauce for the first time, the L.A. BEast was blown away as even though it looked and smelled like his grandmothers attic, it actually tasted really good. Having 1 meal left which has actually been sitting in a trunk in L.A. BEAST's attic the past two summers..."Meal No. 2- Chili Con Carne" today, the beast has decided to see if the meal he wanted to consume the least, tastes just as good as the first Vietnam War Ration he consumed and to step it up a notch, for dessert, 82 Year old Charms Candy is on the menu...

Beast, the beans are "hard" because they are essentially dried before packaging. If you were to let the food soak up the water beforehand then everything can soften and become MORE flavorful! Love your random content, you are my favorite YT person. 😀 The oilyness came from the coconut in the cookie.

Interesting fact, the charms candies refuse to get eaten by Marines and that’s why they’re not in current Māris they found that every time you eat the charms it was bound to be rain or death so they discontinue them in mres in 2007

Beasts confused yet amazed reaction to eating 50+ year old food is what a lot of us who got into collecting older MRE's feel. For the most part, it's been very rare that I've come across something bad in my quest to eat some of the oldest food I had ever eaten, though I take great care on checking the quality of something before trying it. Of course I can't come close to Steve1989's eating Civil War hardtack or British meat from 1911~, but I've eaten a few Gulf War era stuff of my own that tasted great. You don't have to worry about Botulism at all if the food has been freeze dried, the big B mostly pops up in canned goods that pressurize or were not sealed correctly. Generally you should never consume older canned food, though it is completely possible for them to be fine even being from WW2 if they've been stored correctly, but it's a 1 in a million chance to find an older ration that has actually been stored (ie refrigerated/frozen) correctly for its ENTIRE lifetime.
And for the record, Steve1989, the greatest MRE collector & archiver, has actually gotten Botulism TWICE. But both from MODERN MRE's! The guy has eaten stuff from nearly every single decade of the 20th century & even that Civil War era hardtack, yet ironically it was the 21st century food that got him ill. IIRC it was from an Eastern European and a Chinese ration. Those Chinese rations man... don't EVER order one if you want to get into MRE's. Literally the worst on the planet. As for the best, that would be the French rations. The quality of those things are like the quality you'd see from an average restaurant, which is an insane feat for food that can store for years if not DECADES as long as it's stored correctly.

I've been watching LA Beast prior to him and Furious Pete living together. And the one thing I respect about this man is his attention to detail on everything cause I have O.C.D perfectionism which basically easiest way to explain is you over explain things or demand perfection from yourself. If you don't it bugs you or can cause panic attacks to even black or white vision with eyes open or worst case faint. It really effects people differently so it's hard to put one description is what I'm trying to say. But out of all video's I've seen on UA-cam his has always made me relax or mellow out because he's so detailed. What I'm trying to say is thank you L.A Beast for everything you do and as always big fan and keep doing you.
