    I'm just starting this phase of my own build with this exact model trailer. Thanks for sharing.

      Conspirator Vs Saved I got the same one to the rear end is gone the only thing holding it up is the bumper ,I completely gutted it only paid 200 for it want to build a tiny house to live in ,I just hope it doesn't cost a fortune to do it any ways a new one is 30 grand ,hey let me know how yours is going took me four days to gut I'm still sore lol.

      Good luck! Lots of work if you are going to demo it by hand. I suggest getting someone to just go to town on it with a sledge and dumpster the whole superstructure. Save a lot of time.

    I think this is the exact same camper that I bought to build my house on. Very similar if not. This will be nice to see what you do. I am starting to gut mine this weekend.

    • @MaximumIndustries

      Complete tear off? Don't go from the inside out, go outside in. Tear off the siding, push it over with some friends and get a dumpster or burn all the wood, I wasted a ton of time trying to learn how the trailer was built only to learn it is basic framing with 2x2s, nothing fancy. Good luck, and share a video of the current state!

    Not a criticism, just curious... why you didnt just by a trailer instead of going through the time and effort of totally dismantelling the camper? Was there a particular advantage to doing it this way?

    • @rangemog21
      @rangemog21 7 років тому +3

      What I have seen was a camper/trailer with water infiltrated walls and floor, dismanteling and rebuild is the only solution. Second, trailers are expensive, using this good restaured frame is less expensive I think. If they do the new building as they took care of the frame, it will be nice. One but... the new materials hase to be as light as the early construction and that's not easy in tiny house building. Aluminium plating or woodpanels, big differense. The frame is builded for light constructions as the axles are, the brakes and so on, even the hook conection. Think twice if you have the same idee .

      I bought a water damaged 22' Terry Camper for $1,500. That nabbed me windows, a furnace, and A/C unit, grey tank, black tank, 110VAC/propane refrigerator with freezer, sinks, ductwork, drain piping, cooper scrap, aluminum scrap, fresh water tank, and a water heater with hot water storage. All appliances are in great condition and tested to work without issues. Not to mention that the trailer just had brand new tires and electronic brakes put on last year (receipts as proof).
      If you are looking for a bare trailer frame...you want to know what $1500 will get you? A rust bucket with rotting wood sides, or something no larger than 6x8. I imagine that's probably why he did it this way as well.

    • @MaximumIndustries
      @MaximumIndustries  7 років тому +21

      Sorry I haven't been writing, I bought the camper delivered to my door for $1,000. I looked at the price of buying new and it was outside of my budget at the time. Honestly, I wanted to take it apart to understand the construction methods used to build lightweight campers to help influence my design. Unfortunately I haven't made much more progress on this project due to just recently having finished University and settling into a new job as well as starting some other projects while I design the tiny house.

      When you build your own tiny house there's a closeness of it being designed and built by you, and you know every single part of it plus built like a tiny home it's not a trailer house as such, the build structure is more realistic so to speak..

    • @MaximumIndustries
      @MaximumIndustries  Рік тому

      Was my goal to do a total rebuild, then I realized after starting the rebuild, while checking legal requirements with many municipalities that tiny houses were dumb. Just go live in a trailer park if you want to "live tiny".

      Maximum Industries true, but wouldn’t it be less expensive to pay for that vs. a house or apartment?

    • @MaximumIndustries
      @MaximumIndustries  4 роки тому +1

      @@lilithc3814 It depends on the surrounding circumstances. Buying versus renting, your location because housing markets are wildly different depending where you go, an appartment may be cheaper but will have HOA costs, a house may be more expensive, but you get tax breaks and house hacking opportunities to make money. Too complex. Happy to give advice if you have more specific conditions.

      Sold the trailer frame to someone who wanted to keep working on it! I initially embarked on this idea during university as a backup plan in case that plan didn't work out. I ended up doing just fine and went the route of buying a normal house for less than it was going to cost to build the tiny house. House is already paid off!

    • @MaximumIndustries
      @MaximumIndustries  5 років тому +1

      Did you watch the full video? The camper was anything but fine. The entire thing was flooded due to a leak in the roof and most of the wood was rotted for sitting in water for way too long. I picked this up for $1000 USD. It was garbage and the owner knew this too.

    • @SpectraNyte
      @SpectraNyte 5 років тому

      @@MaximumIndustries Admittedly no...I didn't watch the whole video, just to the part where it was stripped down to the trailer. All I could see originally were a few spots of water damage that could have easily been replaced. I didn't realize the whole camper had been rotted. My apologies for jumping to conclusions.

    • @MaximumIndustries
      @MaximumIndustries  5 років тому

      @@SpectraNyte No worries! If you're looking to build a tiny house, this process worked and it was cheap, but extremely labor intensive. If you have more money to spend, I highly recommend getting a trailer built custom to your design needs! I do 2D and 3D CAD if you'd like some designs drafted!

    I am facing the exact same project in my old "current home". My debate is to keep the walls, or build new higher walls much like today's toy haulers for loft space.

    • @MaximumIndustries
      @MaximumIndustries  7 років тому

      Up to you, I'm planning on rebuilding it to almost the same design. No lofting space. I don't need the extra storage, and I think it looks better as a one story flat roof but with a house look as apposed to the camper look.

  • @Daniel-os9tb

      If the trailer was on fire, the steel might be compromised. I would not recommend reuse of a fire damaged frame. Would try and purchase a cheap used one like I did. I only paid $1500 for this and I could have lived in it if I was homeless.

      I just took a backhoe and demolished my camper down to the frame in a day. The hardest part was cleaning up the incredible mess of plywood, fiberglass insulation and aluminum. I think stripping the siding of the sides then bagging the insulation would've been easier.

    • @MaximumIndustries

      Hello Jello - Da PoinT Is To Show Everyone What Is Actually Involved In A Tear Down! ; ) plus if u get a free trailer $$$ - it’s worth a little sweat and tears - pride and satisfaction as well - McD hand to mouth isn’t what it’s all cracked up to be unless you enjoy going about life in that fashion? it’s frustrating i know but he will get back to finishing it eventually
