Thank you, Laura. I just started Keto/Carnivore about a month ago. I lost 25lbs in a month. I am so stoked. I started the carnivore diet because I watched you and Dr. Berry on youtube. I am 53 years old and I was in pain every day with arthritis. I can’t believe how much better I feel already. My pain is almost gone. I can tell that my inflammation is gone as well. Thank you so much for your videos. You are such an inspiration.

I’m a ribeye snob 😄 seriously though nothing else really satisfies me and I save $$$$ by not buying salad fixins, milk, bread, vegetables, rice etc etc... I’m healing nicely.

    • @YouButter

Truth Seeker I’ve looked online but nervous where it’s coming from and we plenty of meat markets here. So far, I’ve done beef at the grocery! I plan to do a haul from a local meat market but I just haven’t done it. I do have access to their meat as well at the grocery. I do from time to time buy cheaper cuts but for the majority it’s the ribeye.

We love ribeye too. I buy mine in huge slab I just need to cut them, we save money that way, but I can confirm that beef price in Canada have increased. This summer the same ribeye huge piece of meat was 100$ it’s now 125$ . We actually do 7 bags of 4 steaks with it about 3/4 inch think . I wish we could cut them thincker but hey we are all on a budget, so if we need more we pitch in a egg or two and had butter!

Hi y’all! I read a bunch of comments so I decided to add a couple of my own. I was diagnosed with cancer. I found carnivore not for weight loss but for good health. Cancer people have LOTS of reasons to be strict. I did 3 1/2 years of keto. Did well, keeping cancer at bay, but I had much muscle loss and felt weak. Found carnivore. On it nearly two years now. I’m pretty strict. I eat mostly grass fed beef patties from Costco. They are simple, economical, and DELICIOUS! Occasionally chicken or pork (sous vide both!) drink filtered water and LOTS of black coffee. I eat twice a day. I’m never hungry. A cheat for me is a handful of nuts. I’m stronger, calmer, smarter, and happier. If you want ALL the wins... do ALL the steps. Good luck 👍🍀

My anecdote, howI look at calories. No exercise. When people say calories count I always say , not my case, If I eat 3000 calories in a day and say I eat them broken apart like 500, 1500, 1000 at following times 10:00am, 3:00 pm, and 6:00 pm I gain some weight. If I eat twice per day say 1000, 2000, 12:00pm and 6:00 pm I maintain weight. If I eat one 3000 calorie meal in a day at 3:00 pm I lose weight. Bottom line if a person eats 1000 calories of fruit every day for 2 weeks and another eats 1000 calories of fatty meat every day for the same period, at the end of the 2 weeks the person eating the fruit will have more times than not gained weight and will be hungry. The person eating fatty meat more times than not will have lost weight and be saitiated. If you inject yourself with insulin you will gain weight. Learned this from Dr. Jason Fung, and Dr. Ben Bikman. I have altered my lifestyle according to their expertise and for me it has worked. I am no longer controled by food, I am no longer obsessed about eating or feel like I need to eat a meal, like OMG I can't miss a meal! I am free really I simply eat when I am hungry usually once per day and I eat until I am full, low carb less than 5 with most of my meals, never more than 10, eat protien/meat finish with fat never count a calorie. I splurge on holidays but counter feasts with 3 day fasts. I am a recovered/reversed type 2 diabetic, no longer insulin resistant, A1C 5.2; no longer have high blood pressure. Today 106/69. March 2019 weight 283 and took 7 different medications. Today 184 I take no medication.

Your story was spot on with my weight loss journey I began in June. I started with Keto and did great for almost two months but then I began having the keto snacks and deserts. Big mistake. I would give up a meal for a plate of peanut butter and chocolate fat bombs. Exactly what made me morbidly obese in the first place. Carnivore is a much better fit for me. I am learning good nutrition and taste is much better than all of the unsatisfactory junk I had consumed for years.

Hello Laura 😁 the Carnivore diet is Amazing I live by it and Sware by it .... since Aug 2019 I've lost 64 lbs and at 55 years old and a body fat 13 % and dropping.... I try to stay at 95% meat only .... I do take vitamins ( Zink , copper , V-D & C ) I keep my caloric count at 1000 to 1200 and absolutely no more .... it is such a high Protein level .... I've found that it works best for me .... but I do have a very light bone structure and I am 5 ft 6 in tall .... so this is why I can get by with a 1200 cal deficit and not be hungry or struggle in the Gym..... I've tried the vegetarian diets with very low protein levels and even though I lost weight I lost a lot of muscle .... so Now I've completely changed everything after watching a video a year ago of you .... so thank you ..... I do Not eat whole steaks only half ... I also eat a LOT of egg whites and I do not go more then 14 hours between dinner to breakfast... and I do not any pork or hamburger.... only lean ground turkey, fish, 6 egg whites ( maybe 2 yolks a day ) chicken breasts, maybe steak 2 times a week .... I do have a glass of sweet tea a 2 Reeses peanut butter cups as a snack almost every night 😋🏆 so good ... but that's it .... and I've done this for 1 year and boom 64 lbs gone ...... I'm very focused..... my goal is 5 % body fat ..... as a young man in my 20s I competed in body building contest and did very well .... and now I'm on my way back to the stage and look better then ever ... thank you for getting my attention and showing me a new path .... I have a book on Carnivore that you recommend..... it has changed my life in so many ways ..... I take no drugs what so ever and my T levels are over 400 and that is amazing for my age 🏆🥂🏆 your the best ... thank you so much

This was very informative! Husband and I are doing Carnivore thanks to you, health coach Kait, and Dr Berry and have same food addiction issues you and your husband do. I’m closer to your mom’s age and I’m adding liver and egg yolks in for the added nutrients. I get high quality liverwurst w/ liver, heart, and kidney and mix it w/hamburger and husband doesn’t even know or he wouldn’t eat it. I’m wondering if your mom noticed any improvement in her skin, like fewer wrinkles, since being on Carnivore? Your skin is glowing! Your videos have been really really informative and helpful! Thanks for sharing your journey to help us! Really looking forward to your next video!

Carnivore for me is mainly steak, pork belly for the fat, lard for the fat and occasional pork and chicken just for some variety. I have 200g of lard or pork belly with my steak if the steak looks too lean, I usually eat strip steak as it is the best that I can afford. I eat about 1 avocado a week for the potassium and occasional mushrooms or shrimp to top my steak. I am over 60 and have been a carnivore for the last 18 months, I do this for the health benefits both physical and psychological. I do have weight to lose, I lost 45# on keto but weight loss has slowed on carnivore. I can eat until I'm satisfied, OMAD and never feel hungry.

I am new to this, I have been following carnivore now for about 3 weeks. I haven’t weighed myself but I do feel as though I have lost weight (I can put my socks on now without gasping for breath as I try to reach my feet 🤦🏼‍♀️ 👵🏻) and I feel so much better emotionally.
I sometimes make a ‘blue cheese dressing ‘ to put on my steak. I mix lots of butter with a portion of crumbled Stilton, shape it into a sausage type roll and cut off a round to top my steak. It’s yum 😋!
Thank you again for your inspirational and informative videos. 💕🇬🇧

My husband and I are doing a minimum of 30 days carnivore. We still have dairy, but we’ve switched to full fat. Eating mostly beef (ground beef, roasts, ribeye once a week), but also pork, bone-in skin on chicken thighs, eggs, and some salmon. We’re on day 13. So far, so good. I was worried I’d get bored, but this way of eating is easy, enjoyable, and I find there’s enough variety for us.
We started this for weight loss and I have hypothyroidism (half of my thyroid was removed about 20 years ago). I have been tracking my macros to make sure my fat/protein ratio is optimal. Most days I naturally do IF (even before carnivore) as I don’t usually eat breakfast and some days are OMAD just because I get busy and by the time I’m hungry, it’s close to dinner and I just wait or have a small snack, like I serving of pork cracklings.

I eat a minimum of 170 gram of fat and 100 gram protein and at least 2000 kcal (usually more).

I basically eat when I'm hungry, and that ends up being around every 36 - 40 hrs, and I'll eat two meals within an 8 - 12hr period, then I'm not hungry anymore. How much I eat for meals depends on how hungry I am. It sort of works out to doing ADF and carnivore. I do include whole milk yogurt and cheese when I want them. Fasting is just the time between meals.
I feel many people are scared of the word
If you are eating until you are comfortably stuffed, you'll not want another meal for hours; that's your fasting!!
BBB&Es is excellent for correcting health issues, and weight loss that you desire.
You body will eventually take you to your ideal body weight, it will not take you into starvation mode.
Try a STRICT CARNAVORE way of eating.
No calorie counting, no fat restrictions!!
The more fat and protein you eat, the faster the healing, the better the weight loss. Exercise does not promote weight loss, it is something you can get into once you lose enough weight, are feeling better, and this is what your body will perform best!!

I am dealing with medical problems, so I don't have much of an appetite, and I try not to force myself to eat. I seen how many movie stars recommend daily fasting for 16 hours and then eating only in the 8 hour window ..... like 8am to 4pm or something like that. I do better if I DON'T eat breakfast usually cause I usually don't have an appitite in the morning, but if I eat in the morning, I usually get hunger in the mid morning. And I agree that you should eat to your hearts desire, but don't force more than you can handle cause then you just get sick. Also, I need acidic Pepsi to wash it down, otherwise, I get nausea. Anyways, I do try to eat, I just don't have much of an appetite and unless I feel obligated cause of someone's cooking for me or treating me, etc. Then I still only eat what I can handle and people are aware of my illness so I can get away with not eating much. Every now and then, I get hungry and/or eat a lot more then usual, but I let my body tell me and like I said I will eat to my heart's desire, but there has been times that I haven't been able to eat for a week or longer, but I do try if able. I really think it's this type of fasting that keeps my weight down, but I do eat mostly meat. I ended up on this video cause I was searching about eating the hamburger greese cause we just drain it all these years without questioning "why?" Is it unhealthy? Today I left the greese and I think it was more filling. Best wishes.

Do you have any thoughts on the healthiest body fat percentages for men and women? So many people want six-pack abs for some reason. Honestly, I don't think they are attractive or healthy, especially on women, but also on men. Having such a low body fat percentage appears to me to be a sign of starvation. And it's not something people can maintain for very long. For example, body builders will cut significantly right before a competition. So, in essence we have images plastered all over the media of "ideal body types" that are not practical or, in my opinion, even healthy. For me, 15-20% is the ideal range for men and 25-30% for women.

    • @LauraSpath
      @LauraSpath  4 роки тому +1

I can't say a number since I am not an expert but I agree that super lean/abs low body fat % is not usually sustainable in a healthy way for most people. I got down too thin last summer and started having some hormone issues. I needed to gain some weight to be my best healthy self.

    • @language-n-learning
      @language-n-learning 4 роки тому +3

@@LauraSpath Thanks. Yeah, the numbers I mentioned are just my preferences based on some online pictures with %s. Each person has different preferences for themself and those that they are attracted to. Some of it is culturally influenced too.
For example, here in S. Korea, the ideal traditional body type for a woman is what would be described in Western culture as beyond skinny, even emaciated. In fact, on most Korean airline flights, the stewardesses are all (probably required to be) that thin. In recent years though, Korean women have been getting curvier, though many are still quite thin and some are obese. Most Koreans are thin, but a lot of them look to be skinny fat.
One final note is that when I look at photos of the few remaining hunter-gatherer tribes, most of them are thin with relatively flat stomachs but no six-packs.
Thanks for all you hard work putting out helpful videos!!! :)

Hi Laura, First, thank you SO much for your videos, insight and inspiration! I've been on keto since late April and lost 37 pounds. And that was it. I could NOT get past that 37-pound loss for six weeks! I kept hearing about IF, but I didn't have much success with that on keto. Ssooooo, I've now transitioned to carnivore with 18-hour IF. It's working! I FINALLY started losing again and now I'm at an even 40-pound weight loss. It truly IS freeing to not have to track macros, blah blah blah. That being said, I have ONE huge weakness. Coffee creamer. I looooove coffee creamer! While on keto, I've been using the Splenda brand with no sugar and no corn syrup, but it does have some nasty oils in it. (I think?) It's certainly not strict carnivore, but I've now limited myself to using it only within my 6-hour eating window and if I drink coffee in my fasting time, I only use a little liquid Stevia. Ugh ... that's hard! Ha! So, my question is, just how bad is that creamer? Have you looked into it? Thomas D. does a whole video on creamer, but he didn't cover that one. I've used HWC in replacement quite a bit, with some Truvia but I know that's definitely going to break my fast and I get bored with HWC. I think that was part of my problem before. I was sipping on coffee (with HWC and/or Splenda creamer) and grazing on almonds or cheese periodically throughout the day, keeping my insulin up. How bad is the creamer? You can google it, but here are the ingredients: Water, mid-oleic sunflower oil, erythritol, less than 2%: sodium caseinate, mono-and diglycerides, natural and artificial flavor, dipotassium phosphate, cellulose gel, cellulose gum, sucralose, carrageenan, and acesulfame-K. It has 15 calories, 1.5g fat, 1g carb per 1 Tbsp. I've tried all sorts of other creamers, the keto ones, the nut pods, etc, etc, but they're all yucky. Do I just need to get over it and kick my creamer habit? Or is this the one thing I can keep in my diet within my eating window? Thank you again for your videos! It's so nice to hear from a REAL woman with REAL life issues and who isn't trying to run a marathon every month. Sorry this is so long. :-)

I wonder if you'd feel happier with your coffee (sans the creamer) if you added the bit of cream and stevia and then whipped it up in a blender. Makes it frothy and creamy, and might make it feel richer to you. Just a thought. 😎

I have to be strict on this. I also can't have "one" of something. A few cashews always went to eating almost an entire 1 pound bag in a day. I don't do keto treats because I have no willpower which throws moderation out of the window. I tried it and it doesn't work. I achieved my goal weight on keto and stupid me began experimenting with treats and other crap and regained about 35 lbs. I'm mostly carnivore now. I say mostly because I don't want to give up my unsweetened almond and chocolate milk. I also have a spoon fed of keto chocolate powder for hot chocolate about every day. Doing this way, 98% carnivore because of the unsweetened almond milks and the keto cocoa powder do not trigger any cravings at all. I'm seeing results.

Now I asking myself if you had gained this weight staying on carnivore or if you had tried to put something back from your former diet, which is not particulary unhealthy or usually weight gaining. I am asking cause people often critizise ketobased diets that it messes up with the metabolism and you have to stay in this dieting process (for ever carnivore or keto) not to get into the jojo-effect. Then how do you explain our ancestors just eating meat and not taking supplements? If it didn’t work, the human species wouldn’t have evolved. Meat contains Vitamin C. Vitamin C absorption is also impaired by carbohydrates. Our bodies also make glucose on it’s own, making it possible for a no-carb/carnivore diet. Give your body more credit, it knows exactly what to do when you feed it properly.

But I would also suggest looking at what you are eating. I’ve heard numerous carnivore experts say if you want to lose weight you should eat leaner cuts. I’m also having this issue and I’m switching from ribeyes to leaner cuts like ny strip and others. I’m working my way to OMAD. Just keep at it and I know you’ll find the right mix! Please I am totally confused so if you don't eat enough food you wouldn't lose weight, but if you eat more you will lose weight?, It's new to me I was thinking of fasting 23 hours and eat beacon, eggs and butter and bone broth only, do you think I can lose weight with this diet help me please thanks

That sounds extreme to me but you need to do what works for you. I’m new to this (60 days) but I think you need beef. Bacon is not that satisfying and it’s critical that you eat so you are satisfied. Also, I would suggest working your way toward OMAD. Good luck!
