I hope you enjoy this episode of Real Doctor Watches Royal Pains / Real Doctor Reacts to Royal Pains. If you want me to continue making this doctor reaction video please give it a like and leave me a comment on which tv drama or show you'd like for me to review next. Love you all!

So true!

I was going to write the same thing!😂
Dr. Mike is so adorable when they start kissing on the show and his face looks a bit uncomfortable and he dodges his eyes to not look. Bashful!! 👀🧡 lol, same here, Doc. No kissy kissy!
I had a score of 3 on the Glasgow Coma Scale after I fell 70 feet off a cliff. For those of you who don’t know, that’s the score of a dead body. But after a three-month coma and four years of recovery, I’m doing okay.
Congratulations
Hi I'm kinda late but that's great!! You're so strong to be able to go through that, I hope you're doing good these days!! :DD
What was it like under the coma? Do you remember if you dreamt of anything?
lieutenant Joker I only dreamed of the Hogwarts Express when someone read me the newest Harry Potter book! But mostly, I wasn’t dreaming. I was in a terrible half-life where I had some awareness of what was going on, but I didn’t totally know what was happening and I was too weak to do anything. It’s actually kind of relieving. I escaped the nightmare where I was living. Now nothing really frightens me. I know I can overcome it, or live with it!
@@michiganabigail Are you serious? So you were conscious the whole time? Like you knew you were in a coma? You knew what was happening around you?
If this show represented reality, id think medical emergencies follow doctors on their days off.
Dr. Mike being cringey about the romance in medical shows is too cute 😂
Joy de Jesus yes the cutest!
and though I wound up giving up on the series for its last couple years, but I remember that the girl who becomes the serious girlfriend (maybe wife?) of Hank's younger brother literally started out as the girlfriend of one of the other Hamptons patients he tended tol

IKR. This show is straight cheese but I watched it all the time.
It's because the star is a Dr. Mike doppleganger ;)
That’s because Dr. Mike has nothing better to do with his life. Obviously not an active doctor himself. He’s got way too much time watching old TV shows about medicine. Maybe practice it more doctor? It’s a comedy people, It’s a comedy. It’s not meant to be truth. There was this thing before reality shows that was called skits and sketches and people actually did writing and acting. Instead of the reality BS we got going on. So no, it’s not a reality show Mikey. So go back to your drawing board and find another way to get patients!
I subconsciously shouted "Chest compressions. Chest compressions! Chest compressions!" When that guy fell down.

-“Who are you?”
-I’m a life guard
Dr.Mike: PFHAAAA
I think we all burst out laughing when cut rate hasselhoff chimed in
if we had fireman too then we woulded had all 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
In my headcanon, he only says "life guard" because the actor can't spit out "life coach" with a straight face.
@@khetilyakhetilya4532 A fireman might actually save your life though. They are trained to deal with a lot of emergent medical situations, and might be the only ones who can get a patient outside to the ambulance.
A lifeguard just knows CPR and basic first aid (except in australia and south africa, where lifeguards deal with shark attacks and stingray/jellyfish wounds fairly often).
Here is Australia, surf lifeguarding is a gateway into paramedics, nursing and even doctoring. So a lot of lifeguards are surprisingly skilled and knowledgable when it comes to things like toxicology, advanced first aid and sometimes even surgery.
I'm a patrol captain myself, and my team and I have dealt with a lot of things from shark (or even crocodile) attacks; sea snakes; drug overdoses (especially on city beaches); box jelly, Irukandji, bluebottle (Portuguese Man-o-War), stonefish and stingray stings; boat fires & recoveries; severe burns; resuscitations and even have to act as a first response police force at times (Breaking up fights, talking down aggression, etc).
Obviously, we are limited purely because it's very difficult to drive an ambulance on the sand and there are limits as to what we are allowed to carry. However, our jet boats, helicopters and even some specialised 4x4 trucks are basically mobile ER rooms. We often handoff to paramedics anyway, but there have been cases where the rescue occurred in an unreachable or hard-to-reach area (bottom of an oceanic cliff) and we have successfully stabilised patients from major injuries.
I dare say if a major incident occurred in Australia, a silver medallion or higher lifeguard would be an extremely helpful asset when dealing with the situation... even if we are specialised in surf rescue. (Although, I do respect the stereotype, its just not true... everywhere).
You know you've watched EVERY Doctor React when you say "chest compressions, chest compressions, chest compressions." At the same time as Doctor Mike. 😅 I am obsessed with the Doctor React series! Can't wait to see you do more!!!

Someone finally said it!! I just want a medical show where it just focuses on the whole medical team doing their medical things and then them just joking around randomly. No boring long drawn out drama that takes all the screen time away from the medicine!!
Another thing I'm learning from this is that there are an insane amount of medical dramas that exist
royal pains is not on air anymore though... I think this year is probably the most i've seen on tv in a long time. Each big network always try to have a medical drama, but compared to cop shows, it's nothing.
Sawbones (medical history podcast) did a 2-part series on medical shows. There are a SHITTON.
there is even hybrids like chicago fire where you have a lot of paramedics and medical procedures done with firefighters too.

Give more episodes a chance. I'd love to see more doctor reacts on this show. It's a great show and would love to know how accurate it is!
Love this show, I was thinking he should do more episodes also.
It's hit and miss on the medical accuracy. Some I'm able to guess before hank diagnosis but others are off. One of the final episodes he says fever isn't a symptom of RA. It's an autoimmune inflammatory disorder. Any time there's inflammation there may be a fever. Love the stories though and wish it had continued.

"another one bites the dust" works great also, but don't sing the words out loud. The family members might not find the humor in it.
In the UK we use the song "Nellie the Elephant", but really any song within 100-105 bpm can be used. Stayin' Alive plays at 103bpm, which fits with the recommended 100 chest compressions per minute of administering CRP.

My mom started rewatching this show recently and I happened to be in the room during the beginning of the pilot. When he got fired we were both very confused, mainly because he wasn't even supposed to be working that day and was literally only there trying to save the basketball player's life so it made no sense they relied on him for anything else.
Glad to know we weren't missing something and that you agree the firing was bogus
Nobody In their sleep:
Me in my sleep: Chest compressions, chest compressions, chest compressions!
As a CPR instructor of many years, your early discussion is so perfectly spot on, it honestly made me proud that some students pay such close attention.
I'm not a CPR instructor, but have to maintain CPR certification for my job, and I couldn't agree more with your comment. The two things that get stressed during class is to designate someone specifically to call 911 and lock your arms and push from the shoulders when doing CHEST COMPRESSIONS!!! Those two things are incredibly important.
When I was doing my CPR and first aid cert, we learned that. During my final, because I was doing it the right way, my glasses fell off onto the dummy 😅 my instructor gave me extra credit because I didn’t stop CPR when they fell off, and praised me. I had to tell him that my mom (originally a nurse now a hospital supervisor) would have killed me if she heard I had stopped CPR, even on a dummy, because my glasses had fallen off

"chest compressions are IMPORTANT" - Dr.Mike in literally every M.D review
why he got fired: because no one is allowed to die in a hospital obviously
Just not hospital VIPs. If he had let the kid die it probably would have been okay.
It's like Disney World
The guy who died and resulted in Hanks firing was a Big Hospital Benefactor
* Stares in rest of the developed world *
Jfc I knew that in the states you get prioritized based on wealth rather than need but I didn't know it was THAT bad jfc. Here everyone is equal. You get seen and treated based on how severe/urgent your ailment is. Like in that situation it would have been.... Fine that the doctor went to help another patient? Bc the other patient was then more in need of care, and thus was a higher priority for that doctor's time.
@@mksabourinable It wasn't just that he was wealthy, he was the hospital's largest private donor, and his children were going to pull their funding from the hospital if the doctor who let him die didn't get fired.
