I can’t imagine spending six years really wanting to get something like this off your chest and out into the world but constantly questioning whether you should be doing it and whether it’s your place to do it. And then not only did he do it and finish it and release it and get a wicked video directed by Spike Lee, he doubled down on the message and put himself out there and performed it on national tv. And he's always said that singing makes him feel so vulnerable and exposed because there's nowhere to hide and he knows everyone's looking at him, and for him to do that whole bridge a capella, just his voice, all alone with nothing supporting him...that's pretty brave for him, for someone with his history of nerves and stage fright in general, not to mention the doubt over this song in particular.
Larki13 Now he needs to get braver and play it at their live shows but I bet he fears negative criticism. I don’t want them to be known as a party band because there’s more depth to them then just popular pop songs.
I say we put all the people who want the useless wall and who do not want gun control.. behind a wall with their guns. Our country will be a lot safer that way. Another mass shooting in Colorado yesterday.
Joel Fárez Coronel i think unfortunately the killers slip under the radar because they are consistently good, they don’t do a whole lot of controversial stuff, they don’t have huge flops of songs, they don’t release shitty pop songs just to get on the countdown- they just consistently put out good stuff and be good people and people sort of forget about them. They’ve been my favourite band for over 10 years now and never disappointed, either musically or with their actions. They deserve to be much more popular than they are
@@JennyWas13 i think i know what u mean...if lets say they go miley cyrusy....i' m sure that ' ll be a different story.. if u are consistently good and never get to be in the news for doing bad things people tend to forget bout u.
Conor Donovan well I'm just a simple woman I see killers music and like it to. From the beginning... the early years in their career.. Just a music lover of plenty different styles..
baseballdude13000 I think you might be right. I don’t have kids but I’ve kid 2 kid sisters and it’s so incredibly difficult to look them in the eyes and explain that basically nothing has changed as far as efforts to protect kids and schools. I imagine he feels similar when he looks at his kids then the Vegas shooting on top of that...it definitely pushed him over the edge and compelled him to say (sing) about it.
This is one of my favourite songs in the world ever and I swear I still cry every time I hear it, even the studio version. I only watch this live version sparingly because it hits different, I have to be prepared to be an emotional wreck!
I saw this live in the theater and I was amazed by the guts it took to sing this song. And it's nice to see a band stand up and say something and make music that isn't just romance, sex and drugs. Well done.
I guess I'm late. I have never heard about this song, and I listen to everything this band releases. I had a surgery that put me in the disabled category, the only reason I mention this, because there is no other explanation why I would have missed out hearing about this song. I am so very proud of you, The Killers. Listening to this song during the current crisis, which is sickening to think about in 2020, and all the years before.., The Killers have all my respect. I don't live in the USA, (just north of it), but, ...gosh, if the world ever needed this, it is now. Thank you for this song, and the fact, that you, The Killers, have had this song way before the current situation, is even more commendable! The world is in need of more of you, and the alikes. I read most of the comments before posting mine, and I have tears in my eyes as well, almost every day, for many years about this issue. I am starting to regain my hope and confidence in humanity.
I'm so devostated, my hometown where I never thought a mass shooting would happen. 2 years ago we lost 23 innocent individuals in a regular Saturday morning. This song expresses the pain from my community and myself.
So good! Made every hair on my body stand up. Very Springsteenesque. Most patriotic song I’ve heard in a long time. So good to be reminded there are others fighting the good fight to rescue the USA from nationalism and plutocracy! ✊
I can't imagine why anyone would ever complain about a song as beautiful and as deep cutting as this.. unless of course it steps on your toes, which means you've clearly got some pretty backwards ideals.
when i hear the voice of Brandon my all inside emotions wake up. my soul and heart fills with soft warm calmness. whatever he sings. can't say in words.. unique magic strong voice.
Kyle Morgan Thankfully, he is not my president. If he treated other human beings with respect, I would show him some. But I’m glad you knew who I meant 😊
What a beautiful song and a powerful performance as always. Brought tears to my eyes listening to the words.. please keep making honest music like this 🙏🏼 lots of love from Indonesia 🇲🇨 ❤️❤️
I've been hearing this song over and over again on the radio, and it always touches me (eyes tear up), so I finally remembered today to look it up, read the entire lyrics and see who's singing it. The solo part - powerful and to the bone. Greetings from Croatia!
Brandon’s voice is still on point. Damnit I love them so much, I love seeing Mark playing. This band brings me so many memories from when they first started. Love them.
I’m reminded of something Merle Haggard said about Glen Campbell (another vastly underrated musician)- “no human should be given that much talent.” Flowers is vastly underrated- and Killers are the best band bar none since U2 in their prime late 80s (IMO 😁)
The part with just Brandon singing on his own, have you ever heard anything more powerful? Goosebumps.
Tears rolled down. Confronting.
It was incredible. I agree!
It was so awesome to be there and hearing this live brought tears to my eyes. Just incredible! 😍😍💜💜
felt it
@@sowflowers5354 no one cares that you were there.
Brandon’s solo bit was so intense
Major chills from that part...
Insane. The words hit you in your heart
He had something important to say and did so in the best way he could. Incredible. I love this man
Well thanks for spoiling that part then gosh but it’s ok !

Yes to everything you said - I fully agree - Brandon You're A Star

Holy shit. That solo left me speechless.
"a capella" not "solo"
@@shmoolicious ...huh? Both are correct, weirdo.
What a gorgeous, gorgeous rendition. And when the track cut out....geeze, he really means what he's saying. Just wonderful.
I think that's the line that they built the song around. Brandon said something about originally writing this song about the Sandy Hook shooting.

This actually made me cry you can tell how much this means to them, it wasn’t just an act of performative activism, Brandon really cares

Why does it take guts to sing? Are you not allowed to criticize your own country? That sounds almost like a communist state.
You have to be THE MAN to stand right there and sing THAT solo. Es bellísimo.
Jorge Cumpean lo llevaré a casa con mamá
Brandon is the only artist that sounds EXACTLY the same singing live. Loved him for over a decade ❤
this is a man who walks the walk, and has a lot of courage . Love Brandon! beautiful inside and out.
First Brandon proclaims that incredible solo... Then, Ronnie comes in sounding like cannon fire!! Wow!!

The killers just did Dustland with Springsteen, amazing too!
That solo was so emotional... I couldn’t help but to feel the powerlessness of the injustices happening in the world... very powerful
He‘s voice is so sensitive & unique!
I'm so glad they're playing it live! And Mark's back!! :) edit: jesus this song is even more powerful live
Goosebumps @ 2:56 !

What a powerful performance. Thank you for standing up for a cause. I had to fight back my tears as Brandon sang acapella..

THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL, THE PROTEST SONG OF THE DECADE!
This gave me shivers, especially at Brandon’s isolated vocals, they should be proud of their statement.
Amazing. First time I am seeing this ❤❤
probably the most difficult piano riff Brandon's done live, super cool chord progression and timing
The Killers still consistently amazing
In the part without instrumental... Shiver. Powerful!
