    Somethin' filled up
    My heart with nothin',
Someone told me not to cry.
    Now that I'm older,
    My heart's colder,
And I can see that it's a lie.
    Children wake up,
    Hold your mistake up,
Before they turn the summer into dust.
If the children don't grow up,
Our bodies get bigger but our hearts get torn up.
We're just a million little god's causin' rain storms turnin' every good thing to rust.
I guess we'll just have to adjust.
With my lightnin' bolts a glowin'
I can see where I am goin' to be
When the reaper he reaches and touches my hand.
With my lightnin' bolts a glowin'
I can see where I am goin'
With my lightnin' bolts a glowin'
    I can see where I am go-goin'
    You better look down below.

I was fortunate to be in attendance at this event with my then-16 year old daughter who used to work on BowieNet. That's how she got the tickets.
The Fashion Rocks producers wanted David on the show but he initially turned them down. It was a year and 3 months after his heart attack and bypass surgery. He relented though, with the condition that Arcade Fire be a part of the show. That's how that came about.
The atmosphere in Radio City Music Hall during this song was one of jubilation! Everyone was on their feet and the applause after the performance was thunderous! This was one moment when the crowd didn't need prompting to applaud and cheer! 😀
