RE: PAUSING, EXPRESSIONS & AIR-INSTRUMENTS:
Please be mindful that we will pause (we prefer to react in the moment & to avoid copyright strike), we will react with enthusiasm, smiles, tears, conversation, exchanged looks and air-instruments. We are expressive by nature and are truly very quirky in every sense of the word. This is who we are and this is what we’ve got to offer. We understand it may not be for everyone, but here's to hoping you all enjoy and we absolutely love positive comments and feedback.
RE: LIVE VERSIONS vs STUDIO:
Check out why we haven't uploaded any live versions... yet. They will be coming, we promise!

That was FUN! Really enjoyed listening to this album with you two :) You made my day. Thank you. I'm really glad you enjoyed this album.
i dont mean to be offtopic but does anybody know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly lost my account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
@Ronnie Owen instablaster ;)
@Ellis Kye Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now.
Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Ellis Kye it worked and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much you saved my account !
@Ronnie Owen No problem :D
Steven Wilson is the king of melodic hooks. It's just amazing how many songs he writes with unique and incredible melodies.
OMG I just got to the part when you said you're doing In Absentia next and AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH I"M EXCITED!!!!!!!!
I have to say something. Your channel came out of nowhere and is now one of my favorite reaction channels, right up there with JustJP and Jamel_AKA_Jamal. I'm gonna talk about those guys for a sec because I want you to understand the scope of that statement. They've been my favorites for a long time because of how they feel and digest the music and lyrics. I feel like I'm experiencing the song or album in a new way when I listen to it with them. Your channel is doing the same thing and I'm super excited to see what comes! Keep it up!!!
I like those reactors, also, along with many others, but they stand out.
If anyone can advise NicknLex how to display the video while filming their reactions, please help!! I ask out of purely selfish reasons. Lol 🤪
Right there with you on this. I love just stumbling upon something new like I did with these two. I could not ask for a better menu of music for reactors to do. But that is just one side of the coin. These are two of the most likeable people I have seen. So good together and so enjoyable to watch.
For those curious, the recording from "Last Chance to Evacuate Planet Earth" is Marshall Applewhite, leader of the Heaven's Gate cult (he got his degree from the same college I went to, in northern Texas, and is, to this day, probably our most famous alumnus)
Just watched that documentary about Heaven’s Gate too. Wow. 🤯
As a huge Porcupine Tree fan it was really a treat seeing how much you enjoyed their music.
Forgot how much I love this album thanks guys! Fav P.T album again, lol changes every month or two.
Omg you're going to do the full album "In Absentia " - That is one mind blowing incredible album & please include the bonus track "Drown With Me" - It's absolutely stunning ! You do not want to exclude that track, It's wow factor is off the scale. Please please. Thankyou !
With you on Drown With Me!
Loved seeing you react to this album guys! I remember buying this album in a CD shop back on a lonely Saturday night in 2008. I remember popping it in my cars’ CD player. My drive home was about 25 minutes, but I took all the lonely backroads just so I could listen to it in one fell swoop. PT became my obsession for years and opened a lot of musical doors for me and changed the way I think about music. I’m glad you liked it!
I’m looking forward to seeing you react to in absentia! That album and Fear of a Blank Planet are among my favorite albums of all time!
Whoa, Jordan, haven’t ever dug into this band (PT) but I totally related to your drive on the backroads to hear more 🎶 vibe. Know *exactly* what you mean, but felt like I went too fast into a blind curve when you threw out FOaBP,
Wait, what?!?
Damn man, what an >>amazing
@@papacarl2002 Fear of a BLANK Planet - not BLACK Planet, though obviously Porcupine Tree were referencing Public Enemy with that title.
I would recommend a Porcupine Tree album but I don't see the point - It's like pick a card, any card - It won't matter what you pick the result will still leave you amazed. Pick an album any album - They are all soooooooo good ! Enjoy the journey.
No they are not. Metanoia is crap.
Porcupine Tree is, without doubt, one of my favourite bands. That 'purple patch' of five albums from '96 to '05 (Signify; Stupid Dream; Lightbulb Sun; In Absentia; Deadwing) was astounding and the subsequent slight dip in form with the band's faux-metal phase didn't take the shine off those stellar releases. Back in the days when we played CDs in cars I had half a dozen Porcupine Tree albums burned onto a couple of CDRs, and that soundtrack was de rigueur for almost all journeys. Great stuff guys
The solo in Shesmovedon has sort of a Frusciante vibe. Love that song!
Russia on Ice is one of my favorites by PT. 😎 Steven Wilson’s Insurgentes is a fantastic experience for a full album reaction. Also Please listen to shutDOWN by the band OSI which features Steven Wilson on vocals. Everything by OSI is amazing and their later albums have Gavin Harrison on drums 🥁 while their earlier have Mike Portnoy. OSI is a weird fusion of electronic/metal. I think you would really enjoy 😉
The first OSI album (Office of Strategic Influence) is pretty excellent. If you're going to do the whole album, then look for the "special edition" which has an extra three songs (13 instead of 10). One of the bonus songs is "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun", but the bonus song I like the most is "The Thing that Never Was". It's a longer mostly-instrumental version of one of the other songs on the album.
Now that I’ve heard it, I couldn’t agree more. What a song!
naturally their album "Stupid Dream" has to come next.
I’m relatively new to Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson. I’ve got some CD’s and Blu-Rays, but not this one. So, thanks. I think that Fear of a Blank Planet is still my favorite PT album. And, Hand.Cannot.Erase is my favorite SW album.
Yes, Lex, find the time to pick up the base after you complete your studies. Electric bass, acoustic guitar, and simple drum machine sounds like a winning combination to me.
It's so nice to see other people enjoying this music as much as I do! Thanks for posting guys, this album still goes for a spin regularly at my house. It's just that freaking good. Call me old fashioned, but music is best listened to in groups of 5 or 10 songs, especially when the band is a talented as this one is and the guy writing and engineering your compositions is SW. If you guys really enjoyed this, do consider listening to one of Steven's solo efforts. Hand. Cannot. Erase. for one, is as brilliant as anything he wrote with PT and there are some damn masterpiece PT albums, this being one of many. Peace!
Can't wait for you guys to react to their other albums . My recommendation would be Deadwing. Probably their heaviest album.
Also waiting for Anesthetize (live) reaction!!!
Keep em coming guys. Love your channel !
Russia on ice it’s a freaking good song !!
Awesome choice, eager to get lost in this one with you two! This one is like a time machine for me and takes me back to a ton of great memories.
Steven Wilson is simply amazing. Interesting choice for a full reaction, this record falls between their proggy instrumentals before and their more metal sound after. Guys if you are going to start doing albums you will be tripping the light fantastic, enjoy!
PT was my #1 favourite band in 2012-2013 but I became so obsessed with them and listened to them so much that I had to take a break! Now I am getting back into them thanks to your channel which is awesome!
My favourite song on here is probably Russia on Ice. I didn’t realize what it was about back in the day but later on I realized the title refers to vodka. The combination of the melodies and lyrics give me chills. I haven’t ever struggled with alcoholism but I think most people know someone who has/does; I think it is about the effect it has on the relationships you have with those close to you.
Anyway...what a fantastic album. In Absentia is amazing too; only their debut album is somewhat weak in my opinion, everything else is great!
Excelente elección y reacción! Espero y deseo que haya más reacciones de álbumes completos de esta hermosa banda. Saludos desde Argentina! 🤘🏻
Nice avatar ^^
Deadwing or In Absentia if your doing another full album.
Or Signify, or Fear of a Blank Planet, or The Sky Moves Sideways, or .
I know you can't do in video yet , but Lex said that hatesong was her favourite so far.... so You guys should watch ' hatesong live from Chicago, from DVD Arriving Somewhere, on UA-cam but , just let us see your reaction, as you watch it off screen, you will be blown away , Enjoy.
Totally agree. The live version is on another level.
Gavin Harrison in beast mode!
Was going to say this right away. The live from Chicago is something else.
You guys are so cool for doing this 🤘😁
Aren’t they?!!! 🤪
Hi again. I'm one of "those 70's" guys you mention from time to time. :) I never heard of Porcupine Tree until I heard it on your YT channel. It's growing on me rapidly. ;-)
Excellent choice, excellent reaction! :) happy
The first album i heard from Porcupine Tree. I then bought the entire catalogue.
Sounds familiar to me! It happened in 2000 and have seen PT/SW 40+ times since. Unparalleled. So grateful.
@@tobyornot I did not see him/them so much but I did every time they came here.
@@miguelramos8201 , that's the spirit! Many wish they had seen them even once. Fortunately The Netherlands were often on the menu, sometimes three cities in tree nights. Plus Frankfurt and London. It's wonderful to have been part of it from a rather early stage, seeing it grow and boom, and earning the respect and appreciation they deserve so much. Totally in love with this band and SW's musical universe. Never a dull moment.
Not my favourite Porcupine Tree album but always the first album I suggest people to listen to
Great effort guys. Its a while since I've listened to that album in its entirety. Glad you are taking on In Absentia next. It is my favourite PT album so I look forward to your reaction to that! :-) Plenty of other amazing Porcupine Tree albums and songs to try too. I'm sure you've got other bands you want to try, but if you want to review a Steven Wilson solo album, go for Hand Cannot Erase which is a classic.

The divine music of Steven Wilson and his great musicians and friends and it is a compact Porcupine Tree, great reactions, incredible invention and the art of Steven, an underrated multi-instrumentalist, composer, poet, lyricist, which we must respect because we have it !!! Please listen to all his records and his projects ... No-Man, Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, Bass Communion, Steven Wilson and much more ... Thanks, you're great !!!
I have to agree with Lou P. Hatesong live from Chicago is a must see, when you the two of you start checking out live videos.
Porcupine Tree has a way to finish their albums each if the last songs are quite remarkable.
Presuming Close to the Edge is right behind.
Great album thanks for listening to it. I got it as an import when it came out with the plastic sleeve.
Indeed a very good album. Your reaction was sweet to watch. :)
Really great album, and it's not even one of their best imo, check out In Absentia and Fear Of A Blank Planet, they're both masterpieces.
About time you guys put a Porcupine Tree album cover on your wall! 😊
Wonderful reaction... I was listening to the whole thing with you.... Lightbulb Sun is PT's last non-heavy album, kinda... Their next In Absentia is heavier and inspired with Opeth... I love the bass on LS, especially on Hatesong... So wow.....
I bought this album, when I headed back to England from New Zealand, when my mother was unwell. So many mixed emotions. I couldn't listen to, Where we would be for months after I got back without breaking down. This sort of music hits people on so many different levels. Great reaction.
What a fantastic listen that was. This kind of music make you really appreciate those headphones huh? This release really gained the band a lot more notoriety in the US and beyond. Thanks for your willingness to explore this band on a complete album basis. Wait until you get to "In Absentia" it is "Lightbulb Sun" on steroids. Thanks in part to Gavin Harrison taking over on drums. No offense to Chris Maitland but Gavin Harrison is well Gavin Harrison! It is great fun once again sharing the experience with you.
🙏🏼🎧🤘🏼Oh man wish i watched this last night. PT is a band I’ve heard great things about - Can’t wait til later in the day when I can set aside to enjoy listening in its fullest. Happy to see live suggestions in the comments to check out too - y’all have grown your channel into a wonderful oasis of music and positive vibes. Love you two and the community you’re building! But i gotta check on something in your earlier videos ... you’ve always got Jimi in the background, but can’t remember seeing any Hendrix reactions... 🤔... hmm... maybe i’ve missed ‘em 🤨?!?
🌏 = #3 the 3rd 🪨 🤘🏼
I'd love to see what you guys think of their album "The Incident". It was the first album I heard from them even though it was their last release. I think it's super cool you guys did the full album, keep up the great work!
The Incident was my first PT album and I really liked it...until I heard all their earlier work. Now it's towards the bottom of my favourite list
I hope full album reactions catch on. A single song is always a total gamble and can easily put someone off, but I think if it is listened to as intended the chances of that happening are much lower because you're getting a wider variety of sounds. Wish you weren't sold out of requests on the coffee website, then again I can hardly decide what album I would choose. There's just so much great prog music out there.
I saw this tour at the bottom line in nyc great show.
Steven Wilson wasn't comfortable with people making too many comparisons between his music and Pink Floyd (even though he'd be the first to say that Pink Floyd is one of the top two musical influences in his life). But if you *did* want to listen to an album that sounds a lot like Pink Floyd, you might want to try "The Sky Moves Sideways", which he did back in the 1995. Note: there are about six different versions of "The Sky Moves Sideways", with slightly different song titles and playing time.
(early Porcupine Tree albums are just Steven Wilson solo records released under the name of an imaginary band, but that imaginary project picked up fans so he made it more of a real band. But even the final Porcupine Tree albums were mostly Steven Wilson's work).
The fact that the cult ended in mass suicide makes the song a lot more eerie.
Great listening sesh. Cant wait for In absentia but ‘the incident’ is magic as a full album experience.
Oh yeah! This album is so great when you listen to it in full! I'll join you guys for the next ~1.5hrs
Oh my god. I do hope you are right about the posibility of a PT reunion. That would make this Brit deleriously happy.
The possibility of a PTree reunion is pretty small right now. Gavin's busy with The Pineapple Thief, and very happy with the work he's doing there. (I just watched a special live-streaming concert from TPT 👍) Colin's busy with about 10 different projects. And I think Richard isn't particularly eager to do any big tours.
Love this album. Do In Abstentia next please
I'm so happy you did that. Porcupine tree and S. Wilson's universe will give you so much. Hope you did not forget my recommandation for IQ's Subterranea which I hope you'll treat the same way. Thanks for the good moments shared 😊
I have this album on surround sound. That's probably the only time that headphones don't do it justice. Love your reactions.
Tremendo disco, es como escuchar un mix de Pink Floyd, Oasis, Soda Stereo. Me encantaría que reaccionen a Dark matter uno de mis temas favoritos de esta gran banda.
FWIW: "Four Chords that Made a Million" was a song that Steven wrote *trying* to get top-40 airplay, and as such he pretty much hates the song. It might have been the last time he wrote a song to get on the charts, as opposed to just writing the song he wanted to write. (although I sometimes wonder if "Shallow" off "Deadwing" might have been another attempt at that).
Ustedes son tan divertidos! O bueno, cagados, como dicen los mexicanos. Hagan el video de reacción para todo "Deadwing." Es una puta pasada como decimos los gachupines (ji, ji, ji). Quiero ver a Nick derretirse. Un abrazo!! Kudos para Eric! Viva Porcupine Tree!!! Post scriptum: Si no todo el álbum, por lo menos "Mellotron Scratch"
Lightbulb Sun is a musical expression (interpretation) of a person in a sanitary bubble. His "sun" is the room's lightbulb.
Fabulous really enjoyed this react so much. Next up Signify? (Eric if you have some influence.....?)
If you have time this is a great way to go for those artists who you have established a connection with. You will get so much more out of it .....and be able to add the album to your playlist without having to hold off for reactions
Russian on ice is probably my favourite ever PT song. Maybe 🤔 😀
I hope that once you start doing videos of live performances you check out Steven Wilson on tour with guitarist Guthrie Govan of The Aristocrats. Steven Wilson also does the 5:1mixes for their albums.
Excelente banda. Músicos muy talentosos. Un Rock progresivo lleno de variantes.
The 5.1 DTS mix of “Lightbulb Sun” is otherworldly. ;-)
Me cayeron súper bien. Estoy suscrito! ;)
Loving your reactions, you both have great taste in music! Not to sound like a weirdo lol but I noticed something weird at the 107:26 mark, it seems like something passes in front of Nick. Could be nothing and maybe I'm watching too much ghost adventures but have a look and see what you think!?
It’s a piece of dust! Thanks for your support! We’re glad to have you! :) - Lex
@@NicknLex oh good, it was a pleasure listen to this amazing album with you both 😊
Excelente como siempre. Me encantan. Otra recomendación de Wilson: Hand. Cannot. Erase.
@@avator3695 Discazo.
The next album you guys should listen to signify...itd amazing just like this one
Que casualidad. Hace 8 horas me puse a escuchar uno de los primeros discos de porcupine tree
Siempre sincronizados! ;)
I got the Pink Floyd reference!!
If you like this whole album reaction, I strongly suggest Temple of Shadows, from Angra. I already mentioned in other comment that function as only one song, about a templary knight that question the church and the reasons behind the Holy Cruzades, from 1095 to 1400. Really worth check the whole concept, but the songs work separate as well. 😁
Now its time for the funkiest sing ever written. "Thank You(falletnme be mice elf agin)" by "Sly and the Family Stone" (circa 70) . Bassist Larry graham literally invented the slap bass on this track. Only to be eclipsed by their stretched out slowed down even nastier version "Thank You for Talking to me Africa"
YES! Bring tha Funk!
Please please please please please lol do soon some Rush! The Necromancer! Thanks in advance!
four chords that made a million is a ironic track on 90's bands who made very successful hits with simple songs that seemed brainy, but were actually pretty cheap. I think that SW had Kula Shaker in mind when composing it
Future Album recommends . . .
UK - UK
Yes - Close to the Edge, Relayer, Going for the one, Drama, Fragile
Rush - Hemispheres, Signals, Grace Under Pressure
Frost* - Milliontown
Riverside - Out of Myself

Kansas - Leftoverture, Point of Know Return, Masque, Song for America, Monolith
ELP - Brain Salad Surgery, Tarkus, Trilogy
OSI - Office of Strategic Influence
Fates Warning - Awaken the Guardian, No Exit, Perfect Symmetry, Parallels (for starters!)
Queensryche - The Warning, Rage for Order, Operation Mindcrime, Empire, Promised Land
Porky Tree - In Absentia, Deadwing
Leprous - Tall Poppy Syndrome, The Congregation
Saga - Worlds Apart, Heads or Tales
Magnum - Chase the Dragon, The Eleventh Hour
Spocks Beard - V, Snow, Beware of Darkness
Gentle Giant - Power and the Glory, Octopus
Dream Theater - Awake, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, Octavarium
Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects - Sol N!ger Within (hey! I can dream! :P)
Meshuggah - Destroy Erase Improve, I, Catch 33 (. . . I'm still dreaming)
Allan Holdsworth - Hard Hat Area
Eric Johnson - Tones, Ah Via Musicom
Ayreon - The Human Equation, 01011001, Into the Electric Castle
Triumph - Allied Forces, Never Surrender
Many of these are "wishful thinking", as I'm sure you'll want to hear single tracks 1st (Frost*, more people should know about this Neo-Progressive Rock band), but I thought . . . what the 'ell ;). Don't even get me started on Fates Warning and Kansas ;D.
I'd suggest a few King Crimson albums, but Robert Fripp/Discipline Global Mobil (DGM) won't allow it :/.
- Thanks NicknLex, I haven't heard this album for awhile, that was fun!
I think it’s a bullet mic he’s using in shesmovedon for that distorted vocal.
5:30 - The "Quiet-Loud-Quiet" formula was probably invented or at least perfected in whole by Grunge and in part by Cobain.
Ive seen that credited to The Pixies which was a big influence on Kurt Cobain. They definitely thrived using that dynamic.
How'd you manage to use the audio for this album but not Rush?
Hate song.. The best...!!!
please react to one of these 3 albums(imo 3 greatest hard rock/metal albums ever):
Blackwater Park by Opeth
Operation Mindcrime by Queensryche
Appetite for Destruction by guns n roses
Molto bene grazie,Evitaeterna .Ñ.bene.
Well rip sleep
GUYS .........You should do an album reaction to Genesis and their classic album ; Selling England by the Pound.
The sun is a lightbulb.... a candle's a treat.
The curtains stay closed now, on my little retreaaaaaaat
And I'll only take medicine
, If it's followed by sweets
A sickly pink liquid, That puts me to sleep
My head beats a better way
Tomorrow a better day....
Please React to more new Liquid Tension Experiment Songs (for Example one of the 5 Improv Songs on CD 2)! :-)
Hi NickNLex, you should listen to full album Stupid dream! By Porcupine Tree
First of what may be many comments: How Is Your Life Today? .... genius. Mixing the circus, psychedelic element with the choral voices to paint the picture of both the bizarrre elements of our lives with the ‘higher’ moments that can and do happen. IMHO...
She’s MovedOn.... wow... this song was so in my head back when I first discovered PT. It was on my ipod when I would run during lunch at work. Just killer.
And Last Chance to Evacuate Planet Earth.... I remember Applewhite and his cult followers who ‘drank the koolaid’ so to speak, convinced that ‘higher interplanetary beings’ were coming to take their souls to a higher dimension. The song is (and I may overuse this word) genius. If you ever tread the spiritual path you will encounter and be swayed by the words of someone like Applewhite.
And The Rest Will Flow.... omg... I can’t...
Hatesong is just an insane display of incredible talent!
Where We Woud Be is another song that is just filled with so much wistful feeling and just reaches into your heart, mind, soul and psyche to transport you.
Russia On Ice was a treat for me because I never got it as a free download back when Limewire was my source for PT music. Great song that may take first place for me now!
Feel So Low.... makes me feel his sadness and such a beautiful composition.
You guys.... are the BEST!
So glad you enjoyed this with us! Thank you for your constant support! :)
A full album reaction? Okay, please listen to the birth of power metal. Check out Helloween - Walls Of Jericho (Full Album).🤘🏻I recommended a song in the past called "Ride The Sky" and this song is on the album.😋 Would be awesome and it's a perfect album.🤘🏻
IMO, Hatesong is a top 3 PT song.
Actually the band got better with the next several releases. SW strength is his electronic music knowledge.
Stupid Dream is the one.
How is your life is a commentary on people living next to one another without knowing that a person has died next door to them. We live close to one another, but are miles away from each other. We wave and say "how was your life today" without really being involved with them.
Sorry Nick but you cannot reduce Oasis to the status of ‘Beatles imitators’. And I believe that the four chords he refers to are E, B, C# minor and A which form the basis of many successful pop songs.
I am sorry. I have to give them another listen. I didn't want to insult Oasis.
No worries, was not offended just thought you were underestimating them.
es un break-up album
I love this album, I enjoy your videos but...
The "this sounds like so and so" gets a little tedious.
A Really good album, but one of Porcupine tree's weakest in my opinion. Your listening experience will only get better!!
