my parts list at lowes came to $50 without the o-rings or valve tubing and fittings which i haven't found yet and amazon sells a perfect bidirectional one for $79. I think i'm going to keep smashing them by hand for a while.
That is a nice cheap and easy way to have pneumatic piston. You mentioned a way to eject the cans, and one way is to just cut a hole in the back bottom of the cylinder just big enough to allow a crushed can to pass thru it, then install the piston on its back horizontal instead of vertical, maybe on the side of a workbench, then have a bucket under that hole that catches the cans. Right at the end of the crushing stroke is where the hole needs to go, that way only a crushed can can exit it, not a non crushed can, this way gravity feeds the cans into the bin and save the air pressure for crushing. But you will need to reinforce that bottom to the cylinder most likely after cutting another hole in the cylinder, only the sides will be left holding the bottom on. We don't have to pay for recycling pickup for soda cans and bottles because in Michigan the manufacture is required to take back the soda cans and bottles it sells, 10cent deposit on each and every single one.
Would like to add a recommendation for version 2.0. 1- auto loader for the emptys 2- a second piston short stroke piston to push out the crushed can powers by the un-go
Wow. Been a hot minute since you posted. Not that i have any room to talk. Sure do miss you mang. Any plans of coming back for a visit? There is going to be a house warming party in my future soon.
I was planning on taking this week to throw the bike in the truck and road trip, but with the broken collarbone that went out the window :/ glad to hear the new place is finishing up though
Para tener un pistón accionado por aire comprimido es ridículo lo grande que se queda la lata al comprimirla, prácticamente se queda a 1/3 de su tamaño😢
Uh, yeah, no. Building pressure-operated air cylinder with stock PROMINENTLY marked “ NOT FOR PRESSURE”... Great idea, great build, good video quality. You show your mistakes, always good for learning. (My Daddy told me “Son, learn from the mistakes of others, you don’t have enough time to make them all yourself”) But, yeah, no...
I understand building this thing for fun. I love building stuff. But it's not practical. With the shitty can crusher from WM I can crush them smaller and faster than that contraption. Fun build though.
You could cash in your cans for money did you know that I wish someone would make a can crusher for the apartment life I got a little bit bigger apartment than the one I used to live in iTunes trash cans and I do catch them in for money and I do rinse out my cans just as well so the fruit flies were the spiders don't have a party
Please make more videos! I enjoyed the heck outta this. Laughed a lot and got inspired to try making a can crusher of my own. Thank you!

It would be interesting to see which one lasts longer. The Amazon is now 69.00

Yep a cheap solenoid could be used to push the crushed an out into a box or garbage can.
I love your vibe😍 great video had me rollin..🤣
You are awesome haha the whole video was funny. My brother and i watched it and nothing but good times. Great vid
Thank you sir!
Happy to finally see someone build it without the requirement of a welder!
He did do welding.
Can your machine crush the cans to only 1/4 inch thick?
It did not crush the can completely nor auto drop out. However that is a good thought up design for a prototype without wasting excessive time.

use a 3 way valve with the third port being exhaust.
