My husband's family is from Mexico and one of his favorite childhood meals was when they'd take leftover tamales, cut them into pieces, and fry them in some butter until crispy. This is now my favorite way to use tamales!! I bet your kiddos would love it :)
I have a freezer full of Trader Joe's frozen food. They're really good, I rarely get something that's not absolutely delicious. My favorites are the French onion soup, chicken fried rice and cacio-e-pepe spaghetti.😋
@@kristinwright6632 I hope you like it. It has real chunks of chicken in it, not the processed chicken cubes you get in other frozen fried rice which is one of the reasons I like it.
@@amber6951 No it's cooked al dente and actually has some chew to it. The sauce is addictive, I get mad cravings for it but you gotta like black pepper cause there's a lot of black pepper in it.
In regards to the Korean rice cake ( Tteok Bok Ki) I made the mistake of just heating the sauce directly and it was too thick and the flavor was too strong. I finally read the directions and it also stated you were suppose to add a cup of water in the sauce and bring to a boil over medium heat then lower to a simmer for 6-8 minutes until thick and glossy, then toss in the rice cakes. The second time I prepared it it came out much better.
LOVE TJs!!! A favorite dinner-for-one: bring 1/2 carton of the Miso Ginger broth to a boil, toss in some mushed up garlic & ginger, then throw in a handful of the frozen Chicken Miso potstickers/wonton/dumplings (can’t remember which they are called) and a handful of frozen (pre-shelled) edamame. I might also zap some frozen broccoli while the broth comes to a boil, chop that up & toss it in at the end to rewarm. Or sometimes, if I’m really hungry & want a cheap way to bulk it up, I’ll toss in some leftover rice at the end. Oh, yeah, I’ll also toss in some cubed up leftover chicken. TBH, the Miso Ginger broth is a staple in my home. It makes any pasta taste better.
I'm English and live in London, but I always make a trip to Trader Joes for goodies to bring home every time I'm in the states! Only ever tried the snacky bits, my favourites are the milk chocolate peanut butter cups and the everything but the bagel crackers!
I am so excited to see you covering Trader Joe’s! Some of my TJ favorites are the vegetable fried rice, the boxed creamy tomato soup, the cannoli dip, and potato pancakes. They also have a great tea tree face wash in the home essential section!
Cosori just had a recall of several air fryers. There is a connector that has failed in a very small portion of fryers. Their website has a process to follow to determine if yours is among the questionable batch. The recall process is a bit involved, but worth it imo. They are replacing the fryers with new ones.
Emmy, you are so enjoyable to watch. Kind, honest about sponsorship, and informative. I am single and look for frozen meals that are nutritional and cost effective. Thanks for all you do.
I love Trader Joe’s. Everything about it - not only the food choices but the size of the store (not too big), the way it’s laid out (no tall shelves), the check out process (the folks at the register do most of it), and what I consider fair prices. My all time favorite has been the Taiwanese Green Onion Pancakes - that I can not longer find there. 😟 I’m in Alabama - only 2 stores here in the entire state. I’m fortunate to have one about 30 miles from my home.
I personally get the fresh pork tamales. No soy, no dairy! They're great for my food allergy toddler. Plus, he loves them. I personally steam them over the stove, but microwaving def works in a pinch!
While I don't shop there as much as I'd like to, their Mexican Style Roasted Corn is great as well. I also really like their blue corn tortilla chips. 😊
tj’s frozen food is just the best. huge variety, fair prices, pretty reliably tasty across the board. there are plenty of treats, but also a lot of options that are relatively healthy and not super processed. some have no preservatives at all. it’s so great to have a handful of fast, convenient, tasty and nutritious meals at the ready in my freezer.
the green onion pancakes, the thai vegetable dumplings (steamed), and the vegan orange chicken are my 3 go-to frozen favs! I used to also love their mango sticky rice spring rolls but they discontinued them :( this video was such a treat!
Some of our Trader Joe's favorites: english toffee coated with chocolate and nuts, Jo Jo's vanilla cookies, Carmelized Onion cheddar cheese, full fat greek yogurt with honey, TJ's ghost pepper chips, blueberry goat cheese, calabrian chili pepper paste, eggplant spread (in a jar,) and tiny round crackers with soy sauce on them. YUM!!! Also, they get flowers delivered on Thursday, if you get flowers on Thursday at TJ's. they will last a week!
I love the Japanese fried rice. I feel I perfected cooking it in college and I never thought that would be relevant until now. 😌 My personal favorite way to cook it is to fry it in a pan. I've found starting the pan at a low temp and adding the frozen rice in helps it not stick then I increase the heat so I can crisp up the edamame.
I’ve been wanting to try those steak & stout pies for ages…just highly doubt my kids would eat them, although now my 11 yr old is developing tastes to where I think he would probably enjoy it now…I’m just going to have to get them anyway, lol.
Before this video...i tried both of the samosas and scallions pancakes. During the fall season they have pumpkin samosas, oh my oh my... They are awesome! 😋
All the options you tried are reliably good IMO, particularly the pad thai should you choose to add proteins that they sell not everything in their freezer (lookin at you “ -siu mai- “ is a winner, but these options are all solid

i've always been a big fan of their frozen individual enchiladas. perfect portion size for a take-to-work lunch and they have a nice variety to choose from.
Also, love the Japanese fried rice, French Onion soup and freeze -dried brown rice. I always keep a box of that in my freezer. Btw, put some of that brown rice into the French onion soup after you have microwaved each of them separately. It’s wonderful together.
Awesome vid! I love TJs and shopped there before the popularity now too. You have to try the Indian frozen meals. The butter chicken and Tikka Masala are divine. Also, the Jamaican beef patties are delicious in the air fryer!
The samosa veggie patties are great. I'll put one in the toaster. Chop and use it to top a salad. Mix some garam masala or curry with Greek yogurt and acid for dressing. Or tamarind chutney.
Trader Joes has the best frozen foods. My fave is their "Pastry Bites" Feta Cheese & Caramelized Onions, such a great thing to serve at a party with cocktails.
Their frozen bbq teriyaki chicken tastes like the bourbon chicken from the food court at the mall and it’s everything I’ve wanted for years. Also I’ve never had soup dumplings cuz finding them is hard, so when I saw frozen soup dumplings I was super curious. They’re SO fucking good and I’ve been buying like 1-4 packages every visit.

Chocolate dark/milk covered almonds are one of my favs. The vegetable fried rice is one I add protein for a quick meal. I actually picked up the scallion pancake this trip to try and the butter chicken.
I'll have to try some of those. My favorite thing about TJ's is that the products have much shorter ingredient lists; less preservatives and such. I love mostly the Frozen Microwave Box (Either the Pasta with Salmon and Spinach or the Thai Red Curry Style with whole Chicken Pieces and Shrimps) And they also have Frozen Dinner that's just filled straight to the Box w/o plastic container or something else that's easily and that's Spaghetti with Salmon and Romanesco.
The chicken soup dumplings are very nice. My husband and I always keep one box in the freezer and cook them up to have with chicken instant ramen. The dumpling wrap is nice and chewy, the meat filling is tasty, and the broth out of the dumpling mixes very well with the instant ramen broth.

Also they have a seasonal item called “karat cake” that is hands down the best carrot cake I’ve had in my life and it’s frozen 🤯
The frozen chocolate croissants. Pop them onto a baking sheet to thaw and rise all night. Bake them first thing in the morning. Awesome! Evil! Yowza!
vegan (seitan) tikka masala. i'm not vegan/vegetarian, but the texture of the seitan in the the masala is top notch.

Would love a trader joe food haul video. Their soup dumplings are amazing and also the orange chicken and vegetable fried rice. The other scallion pancakes are superior, look for them next time if you're interested
Here’s a nice tip if you reheat tamales 🫔 in an air fryer or a comal, they get crispy and more delicious! 😋
The frozen Spicy shrimp fired rice is my favorite ❤️
The TJ's gyozas are bae, do yourself a favor
They really are the best.
LOVE them!
Try the pork shu mai as well. Those are delish
Great to see Emmy say microwave like nigella pronounces it 😂😂😂😂
I love TJ's! I like to get the soup dumplings. My favorite ones are the pork and ginger ones. I also like to get the shiu mai. I also like to get their nuts and dried fruit and cereal and cheeses. Some of the best prices out there to get this stuff.
We finally got a Trader Joe's! I'm excited to try this stuff.
