    I've known about the Mitsubishi T0-ST1-T Toaster for a long time, but not until today have I forked out the bills to purchase it. So...let's put it to the test and compare it with the cheapest model toaster I could find. #emmymade

    the middle button that has (4,5,6,8) is for the thickness of the slice
    lower the number = thicker the slice
    In japan, they have a square loaf. and bakeries make 4,5,6, or 8 slices from that same sized loaf
    so 4 would be a a 1/4 thickness of the whole loaf. 8 would be 1/8 thickness of the whole loaf

    We've been using a toaster oven for years. We not only use it for toast, but we use it to bake smaller portions of a variety of foods too. So, not a cheap, $10 toaster, but not $400+ either. I wonder how it would compare, I suspect it's a lot closer to the $10 cheapie, than the high tech, fancy, sexy beast. :)

      Toaster ovens are the best. I had one for thirty years, and it was so good I bought a barely-used vintage one of the same model when the first one finally gave up. I tried finding a newer model but the ones I could afford were of a similar quality to that ten dollar toaster.

    Thickness settings, from the manual:
    Setting 4: 30 mm thick bread
    Setting 5: 24 mm
    Setting 6: 20 mm
    Setting 8: 15 mm
    The settings range seems counter-intuitive. thinner bread needs a higher number. The thicker bread was set too 'low', and thus had a lot of untoasted margin. The thin sandwich bread needed setting 8, according to the manual. The thicker slice of home-made bread would probably need setting 5, or even 4, if it was over an inch thick.

    • @mojimoji5368
      @mojimoji5368 Рік тому +3

      When you buy sliced bread at supermarkets in Japan, the same size loaf (in the region of 400g) is usually available cut to different thicknesses. So a piece of bread from a 4-slice loaf will be double the thickness of a piece from the 8-slice loaf. This matches the measurements you posted from the manual, too! Seems like Emmy was happy with the outcome anyway though haha

    • @mojimoji5368
      @mojimoji5368 Рік тому +1

    I get Bokksu too and have done for about the last three or four years - and I always nearly love everything that comes in it. It looks like there's quite a few things in the US one that aren't in the UK one, some that I've had before, like the Calbee crunchies and Sakura tea. I can recommend the stuff in Bokksu Boutique too, if you've not already bought from there, Emmy - and the longer you buy Bokksu boxes for, the more points you accumulate and the higher up the point scale you go. Very highly recommended!
    The toast slices look good and so nice and evenly-toasted. The really expensive one sounds really nice, especially as it comes out nice and fluffy too! I bet it would be fab with some nice creamy butter and home-made strawberry jam - or home-produced honey, like yours. How are the bees doing, by the way?

    Some toaster require 2 pushes or touch the toa type button. I turn large bread upside down for a little browning when it's too big after the first toasting.

    Awesome job of review. now you can have fun with the other things you can do with it. Check out the recipe book. French toast and eggs. Honestly? I've been so disenchanted with toasters for ages (lack of even toasting, random burning, bread not fitting).... the only drawback to this one is 1 at a time... for a family of 3 that's tough to justify. That and not enough counterspace for this pretty machine

    I believe what Mitsubishi said was: giving that one slice of toast the utmost respect. Also, most Japanese eats one slice of toast at a time most of the time because of the thicker bread, unlike western countries that is used to the word "toast" as a sandwich or 2 or more slices of bread.

      @@Margar02 it would not. just slide it like it's commerical bread thickness. that beast can handle texas toast so can handle a normal sized grilled cheese fine. granted if one does thick slices yep, won't fit. but keep it under the max height and bob's your uncle

    Now you need to do this comparison with both of the expensive toasters and find out which one does it better.
    Also, want to see you try them against a good quality toaster. Like one us regular folks might have.

    Other questions...... What if you're busy and don't open it right away? Does it get soggy? Or keep cooking? Can you cook other things in it? Try other settings to show how dark it can get for some who like it that way. Or lightest. Show us more. You mentioned French toast. Show us that. It did look like it gets the whole slice so that is good. Do more. Enjoy your content. Hugs from NH
