@hookalakah Yes I wish to say please come to the US for a visit and visit New Orleans and the area. I'm not from LA but the culture, food and music down there is amazing.
Possibly the greatest American rock band, certainly in the top 10. John Fogarty is one of the greatest all around talents in rock history. Thanks for another very enjoyable reaction. You guys are a gift!
Fogerty was/is a powerhouse. One-of-kind voice, great guitar skills, brilliant songwriter and arranger, and a multi-instrumentalist. The complete package.
In 2018, "Proud Mary" writer John Fogerty talked to Rolling Stone about the purpose of his song. He said, "I wrote the song about a mythical riverboat, cruising on a mythical river, in a mythical time. Perhaps, the setting was 'back in time' on the Mississippi River.

Actual interview. Timestamp. 2:50 he begins to explain how the song came about and what it’s about. ua-cam.com/video/pJ0BA5zL0_E/v-deo.htmlsi=LFOpDmLDwDw3CzWp
Proud Mary established John Fogarty as a world-class songwriter. What a great song it is. People will be singing it 100 years from now. As a reserved New Englander I was astonished at the warmth of the people in the deep South. They were often poor as dirt but they would always welcome me into their homes to have dinner with them and to worship with them - "People on the river are happy to give."
Glad that through all the bad images, that you are finding the good in my country. Very many good people. I think this platform has been a great way to bring people together who don't get to see the good. Music is magical and healing and a true language of peace.
No other band captured the spirit of America better than Creedence did. So many of their songs paint vignettes of little slices of American life. Sometimes those vignettes were a kind of homage to a nostalgic past, like this one or "Down on the Corner", other times they're about darker aspects, like "Fortunate Son" but they were spot-on every time. And they do all this with such an enjoyable sound. It's impossible to not feel better when Creedence is playing. They couldn't miss for almost their entire run, bullseye after bullseye. You really should react to every song in their catalog. Please do "Penthouse Pauper" for a nice change of pace.
I enjoy your videos so much and I am quite delighted at your appreciation of the wonderful music from the 60’s and 70’s when I was growing up. I didn’t realize, until later, how fortunate we were to have so many prolific singer/songwriters to enjoy. Creedence Clearwater Revival (featuring John Fogarty) is s perfect example of this! There’s a great deal of “feel good” music and you two are perfect for me to sit with and relive the best of the best. Thanks for letting me hang out with you. 🌺✌️
Another great reaction! I swear...watching you folks be exposed to these classics and your enjoyment causes me to feel like i am experiencing it for the first time.
Another great reaction. BTW, This band is from El Cerrito, California across the bay from San Francisco. Your enthusiasm for this type of music is contagious.
I enjoy watching the reactors to music on UA-cam. This married couple is so honest & sincere with their reactions. I'm a 78 year old man with a lot of music background, but after watching the response from this couple after watching Mike & the Mechanics song( In The Living Years) I believe his feelings were genuine and spontaneous.More love to people like them
I live in East Texas. We also have bayous being next door to Louisiana. there is a culture of people that live on the rivers in the swamps and on the lakes that are very giving people. they are always willing to help. here in my area is much the same. mostly lower middle class and poor people but willing to help others. it is quite different in the larger city. I love to watch you guys react. Have a Blessed Day!!!!
Creedence Clearwater Revival's music is so evocative and magical. Even though I'm an American who has never visited Louisiana or Memphis, I, too, feel transported there when I hear their songs, Andre.
I’m glad you two are enjoying John Fogerty and Creedence. They were my musical heroes growing up. I’d go to bed every night with headphones on and a CCR cassette in my little cassette player. The headphones helped me hear all the little clever musical touches John would add to the songs to make them perfectly pleasing to the ear. I’m glad also that you folks are picking up on the snap shot of America John painted into so many of his songs. He was somehow able to walk that fine line between criticizing some of our political leaders, and absolutely loving our citizens, country, and ideals. Even when he was very displeased with say, unfairness, (Fortunate Son) you knew he was shouting about it because he loves our country too. Because of that genuine touch, everybody loved those songs, even the people being criticized. So, I’m happy for you two discovering the music of CCR. And I hope you do get to come to America sometime, and see the country. There’s a lot of truth to John saying “people on the river are happy to give”. That’s true of most Americans. We do have some boneheads here for sure, and we are far from perfect, and we seem to be very divided politically right now, but I think that’s more the internet than what you see when 30,000 of us are all together at a baseball game or a concert. We are way more together with each other than our two stupid political parties would make you believe. For more of John’s America, try “Down on the Corner” and “Up Around the Bend”. But their best song ever may be “Long As I Can See the Light”. And that’s John playing the sax. Keep doing what you’re doing. Keep discovering all this great music out there. I enjoy making the journey with you. It’s a good one.
well, you did 3 of my favorite bands today : CCR, Led Zep and Yes (Yes being my favorite of all times). That's almost too much too handle. Love from France.
My Number 1 favorite group ever ( tied with Eagles) Just a little unknown tidbit CCR has never had a number 1 hit .I know, I found it hard to believe myself but most of their songs hit number 2 .Great reaction 🎶🎵 .Love you two ! 💕
That’s the downside of being a great band in an era of incredible music. There was so much competition for the number one spot. It is hard to believe they never made it to number one, as popular as they were.
@@terri2494 They were also kind of their own competition, because their singles had hits on both sides. But go back and look at the #1s that beat them out, and none of them are as good as the Creedence tunes. Popularity is not always the best metric.
This is a great song and they are great band. I got to hear them back in 69 or 70 and they were awesome. They had a great time it was phenomenal. I know you love music and like to recommend some from Bob Seger to roll me away and like a rock I think you would love them both.
The song is about a sternwheeler steam powered boat. A wonderful boat - usually 2-3 decks high, with a restaurant and small cabins depending on size. They do not show a sternwheeler in this video. If you visit, you should visit St Louis on the Mississippi River and absolutely take a rive on a sternwheeler- this is the river they are talking about. In America it our version of the Volga! Volga is Mother Volga -- but The Mississippi - or Ol'Miss is known as Old Man River.
Thank you for your positive outlook on my country. Sure, every country has its problems, but here in the United States, we strive to be the best, the backbone of the world.
“Tane” is slang for octane, meaning the narrator pumped a lot of gas down in New Orleans. Actually, in the original, John Fogerty may have said that he pumped a lot of “pane” down in New Orleans, which may have been slang for propane, meaning he pumped a lot of propane down in New Orleans.
The media here in the US I believe aren’t telling us, the world the whole truth. But I think most know that now. If you ever come to America reach out I’m north but I’m on a river on acreage you’re always welcome. Many Blessings and much peace.
"pumped a lot of pain down in New Orleans" kills me every time I see it. I know the internet fistfight is between 'pane (propane) and 'tane (octane as in gas) but now pain has crept in and seems to be taking on a life of its own.
CCR was a great band.John Fogerty has man great songs. You would really enjoy visiting the USA,there are many things to see and do here and some people who would treat you like family. You two are very nice people, thank you for this.
This is such a great song written by John & recorded in 1968. Ike & Tina Turner released their version of "Proud Mary" In 1971. You guys have done a few of CCR songs already. Other songs are "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", "Lodi", "Commotion", "Night Time Is The Right Time", "Down On The Corner", "Cotton Fields", "Have You Ever Seen The Rain", "Travelin' Band", "Who'll Stop The Rain", "Long As I Can See the Light", "Sweet Hitch-Hiker" etc.
Speaking of the Bayou, my favorite female singer has a beautiful song called “Blue Bayou”! She is the amazing Linda Ronstadt and it is actually her signature song, although in my opinion, her best music was never even played much on the radio 🤷🏻♀️. Anyway, Linda is a force of nature well worth a deep dive into her amazing catalogue. If you choose to react to her music, please select live performances because her live shows were legendary. I truly enjoy your videos and your humanity 🥰. You are a wonderful couple. 🌸💐✌️
First of all ... I have to be honest. I have been following you two for about a year now and did not know you had any children! I was watching your mini home conversion on wheels earlier {I started on Wednesday @ 03:03 am PST in the PNW/Washington state} and for the very first time, I saw some baby pictures of Arnold! What an adorable 'baby'~pup he was .. and a fine, young handsome 'man'~dog he has grown up to be! ... BTW ... Just love what ya did to the homestead. The fusion of rural and a bit of modern sprinkled in. That dark stain was the right call on the counter/trim and certainly the back wall. It draws a persons eyes towards the bed'rm' and upward to take everything in visually. The bunny rabbit cabinet handles ...??.. Too damn cute! Is that pine wood? Can ya even find pine in Europe? Anyway .. NICE JOB! VERY COOL. I DIG IT!
If you haven’t yet, out “Lodi” by CCR. It’s about traveling about trying to make it as a musician and getting stranded in the California town called Lodi. Think you would enjoy it😁
Someone covered it? Tina Turner!! A signature song for her. Her performance - "Proud Mary (Live from Arnhem, Netherlands 2009}" is truly something to behold. The video has 61M views. She was 69 yrs old at that time, and puts on an incredible show. To see her in her younger years, see "Ike & Tina Turner - Proud Mary (1971) | LIVE" (the video that also has 16M views). Would be a great double-header for a reaction / review. She apparently once remarked that she was as famous for her legs as for her voice - and in fact did have her legs insured for $3.2 million. Watch either or both of these performances and you'll see why :)
CCR's Proud Mary had just come out when my ship USS Yellowstone AD-27 left port, Nov '69, for a 6-month Med cruise. No one on board had been able to get this album. We were stationed in Naples, Italy. While wondering the streets I found the album and became very popular. I recommend "Twist & Shout" by Mary Chapin Carpenter.
When I was in the Navy I was engaged to a truly lovely young woman from New Orleans. I took some time off and hitch-hiked (there's a fun song to listen to, "Hitch Hike") from Norfolk, VA to New Orleans. While going through Alabama I was picked up by several families in a number of cars. It was adults and kids. They were going to have a "cave party." They invited me along. That's Southern Hospitality. I couldn't stay for the party because my fiancé at the time was graduating high school and it was her prom night. So, I had a schedule to keep. Otherwise, I'm sure the "cave party" would have been memorable.
It’s annoying that lyric videos are so inaccurate. When Fogerty sings “pumped a lot of … in New Orleans,” it’s not ‘pain’. He’s referring to a job delivering propane, which is used as fuel in many locales for heat and cooking.
CCR forever! They gave Tina's standard a fine sound. I really enjoy your banter. I know you would love to see Fleetwood Mac play Tusk live on stage with the University of Southern California marching band, it's awesome. UA-cam it. Fleetwood Mac "The Dance" TUSK
Try Billy Joel, For the longest time, I believe you would have fun with that song. I enjoy your reactions, you two are the best, keep doing what you are doing !
Love your CCR reactions. Here are a few more you should check out. Lodi, Long as I can see the light, Someday Never Comes. Also check out Ike & Tina Turner video performance of Proud Mary. It is classic.
If you really listen to a lot of John's lyrics, you'll hear him talk about some pretty negative stuff in everyday life there, as well. Also talking a lot about the Vietnam war.
Don't believe the news hype that given to you about Americans. We are a generous and warm people. We have our problems like other nations. Aut 300 million of us are good people who would Bar-B-Que you guys some Ribs and Greens and potato salad while listening to some CCR! Come visit us in the Deltas of New Orleans. We love to have you!
If you see a lizard - you can pick it up, turn it upside-down and stroke its belly repeatedly and it will pass out in your hands!! Fun for kids in our Russian River area 60 miles north of San Francisco - along with our very cute orange and brown mud puppies!!! (salamanders)
If you come you will be STUFFED FULL with a CRAWFISH BOIL!!!!! YOU MUST EXPERIENCE IT!!! Also - hopefully you like bourbon / whiskey - you will probably be treated to a Mint Julep drink!!!
It's hard. It's really hard to listen to a CCR song without smiling. And... for some reason my feet won't stop moving. .... And, yes, Andrei, you are correct. As an American, I'd like to say it would be nice if you could visit my country. I too feel that the media and the politicians, they portray and represent such a loud, warped, and negative view of real American people. I'm sure you have the same problem; I remember one of you is from Poland, I can't remember the other. Everybody gets some kind of stupid negative stereotype. It seems to me that most people, in most places, really could get along very nicely if we could just keep the media and political people in a locked room somewhere. Maybe we all just need to listen to more good music 🙂
Great !! I suggest you make reaction videos for very good 90's music like: REM - Nightswimming REM- Find The River Toad The Wet Sprocket - Walk On The Ocean
Lyrics are often incorrect on these vids. Should be “pumped a lot of ‘tane down in New Orleans” meaning octane, what another word for gasoline back in the day. , so he was a pump jockey, someone who worked in a gas station. Love you guys, your such a happy couple.
I am a very proud American . My family has been here for 17 generations now ( and no one knows how long in the Cherokee branch of it ). This country is full of good hard working honest people who are being betrayed by the evil criminals who are now in power in politics , the media , and the educational system .My ancestors rose up in armed rebellion 3 separate times against repressive government in this country and it appears that it may have to happen again .
ccr is 1 of my favourite band but please do this song live from john fogerty from the show the long road home in los angeles 2005 much better than the studio versies i know you don,t do this i ask you that a dozen times greatings from a floor jansen fan of the netherlands

More CCR Please do SWEET HITCH HIKER and UP AROUND THE BEND
CCR forever! They gave Tina's standard a fine sound. I really enjoy your banter. I know you would love to see Fleetwood Mac play Tusk live on stage with the University of Southern California marching band, it's awesome. UA-cam it. Fleetwood Mac "The Dance" TUSK
❤❤❤
Cercate anche la versione di Tina Turner, e' fantastica!
Tina Turner sings this great song. She is wonderful too.
Try Billy Joel, For the longest time, I believe you would have fun with that song.
I enjoy your reactions, you two are the best, keep doing what you are doing !
More ccr❤
If you read these, try " The Killing Moon" by Echo And The Bunnymen.
Very different from your general genre.
Love your CCR reactions. Here are a few more you should check out. Lodi, Long as I can see the light, Someday Never Comes. Also check out Ike & Tina Turner video performance of Proud Mary. It is classic.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Tina Yurnrt does a killer cover of this song. Suggest a live video version to enjoy Tina's dancing.
You two need to hear CCR's cover of "Heard it through the grapevine" It is amazing & better than the original, in my opinion!
the world sure loves us when they get attached
Attached to what!
Please also listen to Tina Turner's version of this song. It was a big hit for her.
Tina Turner did a version, released in the same year just a bit more speed...
CCR in 1969, Ike & Tina in 1971👍✌️
Rueda rueda por el río
Orgullosa María
Check out Three Dog Night “never been to Spain”👍
The worst thing about CCR songs are they are so short. You'd love to just hear him keep telling his stories.
If you really listen to a lot of John's lyrics, you'll hear him talk about some pretty negative stuff in everyday life there, as well. Also talking a lot about the Vietnam war.
You should watch Ike and Tina Turner do the original. Completely different, just as good
Don't believe the news hype that given to you about Americans. We are a generous and warm people. We have our problems like other nations.
Great !! I suggest you make reaction videos for very good 90's music like:
REM - Nightswimming
REM- Find The River
Toad The Wet Sprocket - Walk On The Ocean
Lyrics are often incorrect on these vids. Should be “pumped a lot of ‘tane down in New Orleans” meaning octane, what another word for gasoline back in the day. , so he was a pump jockey, someone who worked in a gas station. Love you guys, your such a happy couple.
The Best American bands are Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Grateful Dead, and the Allman Brothers Band.
My wife worked for Gerry Garcia's probate attorney!
Lyric correction: Its "pumped a lot of pane" as in petrol, not "pain".
*pane - as in propane.
ccr is 1 of my favourite band but please do this song live from john fogerty from the show the long road home in los angeles 2005 much better than the studio versies i know you don,t do this i ask you that a dozen times greatings from a floor jansen fan of the netherlands
the lyrics say "pumped a lot of pain"...not correct..."pumped a lot of TANE" as in octane....gas...he worked at a gas station
You don't see the good side of America as the powers that be, including the media, don't want you to see. Propaganda is EVERYWHERE these days! Much Love !!
