I hope the country invests in speed trains and the security necessary to make the service viable for all Americans. Our ancestors took the train from the south to the north and west multiple times a year. So much to see such a beautiful country!
Hello blessed Louisiana native ⚜️!!! I’m a new subscriber from Opelousas 👑 I hope you and your family are doing well throughout this winter storm ❄️with much snow accumulation around our very southern state 🧤 I love hearing, seeing, and learning about trains 🛤️ because of my son Dwight Jr. He became interested years ago because he watched 📺 Thomas the steam engine on PBS network. He’s always sharing quite a bit of information with me that he learns. He’s a future train conductor in the making that’s for sure. Thank you very much 💝 for sharing your experience about riding on a view liner passenger train which I had never heard of until today. May God bless you, each and everyone who shows love to your journey in Jesus name Amen 🙏 ☮️
@marieancelotf.8443 Good morning from our South Louisiana winter wonderland!! Your comment made my morning. I'm from Lawtell, so hey neighbor😊! We are doing well, and I just got in from a snowball fight with my son! I hope that you all are safe and warm and enjoyed this probable once in a lifetime weather!! My enjoyment of trains also comes from my son loving trains and wanting to experience train rides. We took our 1st ride on the City of New Orleans back in 2023, and I discovered how relaxing and enjoyable the experience was. I wish your son well on his journey to being a train conductor!! I'm not sure if that's what my little man would want to do but for now we'll keep riding and enjoying! We should be back on the rails in February 🚅🚆🚉! Thank you for subscribing, I definitely appreciate it!! Nice to have someone here from the local area. Many blessings to you and your family always, Naomi
I enjoyed the video. My sister & nephew has taken the Amtrak train from Birmingham to New Orleans and loved it. I’m looking into booking in a few months.
@MotivationalMomentsWithLJ thank you so much, I would encourage you to give Amtrak a try. I plan on getting back on the train in February. I really enjoy the ride!!
@ will do. It’s on my bucket list to also take the train to California. It will probably have to wait until retirement lol 😂. I just finished watching your other videos about your trip. I also snuck in a few views on your creole family festivals. Enjoyed them all.
@MotivationalMomentsWithLJ thank you so much for watching!! Really appreciate that!! I want to ride the Sunset Limited to Cali also, but it'll be a while bc it's more expensive. The Crescent from Nola to Birmingham or Atlanta is super affordable. I've also ride up to Chicago on the City of New Orleans back in 2023 and the price wasn't too bad.
We live south of Ellisville, MS. The tracks are not far from our house, and I normally hear the train coming through north bound (around noon) and south bound (around 6 pm). Thanks for sharing, God bless!
Great video, I see and ride this train all the time. I went from Birmingham to New Orleans in June for my birthday and it was amazing. I see trains in Bessemer AL, I used to be like him when I was younger, I wish I could go back in time to them days, LOL.
@bjsavy Thank you! I am fully enjoying train rides with him. Childhood innocence and enjoyment are beautiful! I'm glad he loves trains bc it's growing my love for train rides. I watch so many videos and just look to plan more train rides!
Nice video!! I've been riding trains since I was 4 years old & can relate with your son. I've been riding the Crescent between NO & B'ham since the "50's & have always enjoyed the ride. There's nothing really to see but trees & fields, but enjoyable overall for me. Riding coach is fine as long as there aren't any major events at The Superdome. Coach cars can get crowded between NO & ATL, so it's best to check for major events before booking trips. I've learned to book a Roomette between NO & B'ham in order to avoid crowds. It's about $100.00 extra for the room, plus you get a complimentary meal between the 2 cities & a private space for 8 hours.
Thank you very much! And we've rode in sleeper cars before, and the food was ok. I find it necessary for me for any trip beyond 8 hours for sure!! This was just my 1st train video for youtube. I'm based in Louisiana not far from New Orleans, so I'm usually pretty aware of events going on. There was nothing this particular Friday and Saturday. The price was 250 each way for a roomette so 500$ round-trip. It was 93$ round-trip in coach and the train was pretty empty so it worked out. We ride the City of New Orleans to Chicago at Christmas time in sleeper and I can't wait to do that again this year!! You're right, definitely not much to see but I love how relaxed I feel on the train!
I'm still learning, thanks for the feed back...appreciate it. I had the music at 38% volume and it sounded ok in playback, but I'll try lowering it more! And thank you, he's my always ready travel partner!!
Did you sleep in Coach? If yes how many hours of interrupted sleep did you get on the train. Did you buy anything from Amtrak cafe and if yes what is your favorite item from there.
@chrisdobrowolski2783 I've been on the train going to Chicago overnight, but I was in a sleeper car. Haven't attempted overnight in coach. My fav from the Cafe was the premium mac and cheese
@Schola718 gotcha, thank you. Didn't know the single level coach and sleepers had different names! It was our 1st North Eastbound train. Previously, we were in the Superliner roomette on other routes.
@bighomieq4580 so most of the time, there are seats available even the day before, which is when I booked this one. There are peak times like events going on in New Orleans or holidays when you'd need to book further in advance. It took almost 8 hrs to get to Birmingham.
Do you love trains? Or are you just contemplating a train ride for the 1st time?
@@Naomi.RN.Travels 1st time. They seem fun. Well, they seem relaxing.
@bighomieq4580 yes definitely relaxing, that's my favorite part!
it’s a lot more relaxing than flying on a plane
@adamdavenport6421 it is definitely relaxing, and the no tsa part is always a plus!!

Your little man is precious! Thank you for sharing your train journey!
@Amoscrts thank you and you're welcome!! We'll be back on the train very soon and he can't wait 😊
I love the trains. I take a day trip to Meridian every month. I have lunch then come back the same day.
@@ecummings3 nice, I'll be riding again this month. Possibly to Atlanta from New Orleans. Can't wait!
@Naomi.RN.Travels I am hooked. I am hoping to do the California Zephry this month as well. I can't wait ...
@ecummings3 nice!! My bucket list is the empire builder. Hopefully, next year, sometime!!
That sounds like a fun thing to do!
That's cute that you are taking the train because your son enjoys trains and you've gotten into it as well. Great mother son bonding experience :) .

I lived near the Powdery crossing. Love looking at the trains. You can tell the Amtrak from freight trains.
@jamesmurray8558 Nice, what part of the route is that crossing?

Nice vid, just an FYI you'll were in an Amfleet coach not the Viewliner. The Viewliners are the single level sleeper cars.

@@Naomi.RN.Travelsthere are 2 versions of the Viewliner. Viewliner 1(older version), and the Viewliner 2(newer version).
@Schola718 Yes, I did see that on some train videos I was watching. I'm hoping to ride in one soon when we go on a longer trip on the Crescent.
What was the cost for your round trip
@@danwaller5312 93$ in coach for myself and my son.
