Hey everyone - i see you guys seem to like these Buckethead videos the best. Who want to see "How To Shred Like Buckethead pt 2" ? Perhaps 2015 or maybe even 2016 edition :)
How to Shred Like Buckethead Part 2... Coming to you bots soon!!! Also - feel free to pitch ANY questions and ideas for this video before its recorded.
Thank you so much for this video. Halloween is coming and I am dressing as Buckethead and I am going to play outside in the neighborhood and your lesson will help me perfect my soothsayer. This is the best video ever. All buckethead fans must like and watch this.
It takes a lot of practice... And coordination in your pinky and ring finger since those tend to be the weakest ones. And mainly just observe your picking, it has to be either all alternate picking, or you do a mix of some sort that works and just remember don't ever pick down or upstrokes consecutively that's usually were people get caught in there picking. As long as you have everything locked in you should have it down.
saw your comment on my video, very cool to see someone else that used pauls lessons and watching buckethead to get the lick figured out, btw you have your picking hand synced up much better than a ton of people playing buckethead's stuff, good shit A+ :)
Definitely the best Buckethead tutorial I have seen yet. Thank you ! Did you pull all this from listening and watching his videos? Whatever...you nailed it !!
***** thanks man! and yeah when i was a lot younger i listened to massive amounts of Paul Gilbert and Buckethead which helped influencing me to figure out the pattern.
Straten Marshall Maybe I'll ask you about a Buckethead lick that has puzzled me for a while now. You're incredible on this BKD stuff so, here goes... It's a wild pentatonic lick repeated on the 1st and 2nd strings, probably tapped, but hard to see in the video: BUCKETHEAD Backyard Solo (Full Version). He blows it out at 13:57. It looks like he might have loaded the pick to his middle finger in order to tap. Any input ?
Me encanta tu canal, tocas increiblemente!!!!! y me gusta que casi siempre tocas tonos en E menor (Soy fan de los tonos y escalas menores , sobre todo si son en E menor hasta S menor)
Its hard to find videos on that Buckethead lick, I'm really happy you uploaded this. Thanks for that. One question for you about the "short version" of the lick. Are you picking certain notes?..and hammering on the others? If so which ones?.....
I know that's a late reply, but check out Paul Gilberts old instruction on shredding, I think it's called "Serious rock" or something, it's from 1985 and has a nice intro and that lick is pretty much the first thing you learn there :) Enjoy!
That lick! You hit all the high points, but I don't know if you pointed out enough that it's very hammer-on/pull-off based. It's a variation on a Paul Gilbert lick. You can see other applications of that pattern in this Paul Gilbert video: paul gilbert string skips
I would really appreciate if you could show the picking pattern of the whole lick and also the picking and the note secuence when changing from one pattern to another, going downwards the scale. Take care!
I've had these licks down for a while, glad to see someone step up and do a video lesson on something other than his tapping licks. I posted a tab on the Buckethead forums with a bunch of his licks. Anyways, how are you muting the b string when you switch to the high e? Are you muting it with your right hand or just the tip of the left index finger?
cool dude! i honestly just play i don't give it much thought, mainly improvising to see what comes out. but if i gave it thought i guess its just mainly finger tone with slight muting!
In order to write the tabs for this I put the speed at 0.5 You should do the same and wait for him to talk lol P.S.Thank you for sharing this, Straten Marshall
Can you show the picking of this lick. Kind of hard to get up to speed without knowing when to alternate pick or hammer on and pull off. Would be greatly appreciated
Yo man you play it as clean as buckethead. Nice work! I think a lot of people would find it helpful if you showed the picking hand and went through it note by note slowly. I can play this too but I have problems keeping it going because my right hand starts doing strange things.you should make a video playing the studio version of nottingham lace note for note. I think you could do it. Do you write your own songs?
Zickity Z thanks man. and i dont really play any solos note for note anymore its always improvised. but yeah im releasing an album this summer that im currently finishing up writing and recording.
Wowowowowowow wow wow wow!!! You are pretty good man! And you have a Gibson Les Paul Buckethead signature! This guitar is V.E.R.Y expensive here in Brazil (R$17.300). I can't have one...
dunos mafos Well at the time i was playing this kind of stuff, (2008-09) i was already learning 3 note per string scales which i really liked and practiced a lot to the point that they were all clean, this lick kinda followed through naturally because i was already doing these similar techniques, so it really didn't take long at all.
Guitarists like Buckethead and you are so lucky because your pinkie is als long as your other fingers...mine his half the size and you can't believe how hard that sucks
Man, thanks so much. Are there any videos by Paul that cover that picking technique or can you do one. I could really see exactly how you were holding it. If there is, can you drop a link. Thanks, Man, I'm going to start practicing this lick a lot.
Masato Lee Simple exercises on the high E string using mainly your ring and pinky fingers, build up strength in those fingers and you can get this lick down in no time.
thanks dude i think you helped me alot with technical dificulties.. does he always use that hammeron then pick next 3 picking technique throughe the whole song ?
How did you learn to practice your coordination on all of your fingers? I’ve been playing for 1-2 years now, I’m still a beginner but I’m decent at playing. Im only good with 3 fingers kind of, can do slashy stuff. My pinky and ring finger is not great.
well do you use all your fingers enough, sit down practice a scale, maybe make a shred run in the scale using all the fingers and increase the speed with metronome. remember the third finger is always gonna be faster than the pinky that's why some guys who shred crazy use the third finger sometimes up towards the last frets.
@@michaelmonster I’ve been practicing all 4 fingers for a month and I can say that I can control my pinky so much now. Been practicing spider walk, the C natural minor scale or the E, forgot what it’s called. Now it’s more of cleaning up the ringing alittle more when playing fast.
I am in a swathe of emotion. Nah ! I'm just jealous that I can't do it. Good technical robot playing though !. Keep it up and hope that your batteries don't run out !. :).
hey man thanks for the lesson. when you play that extended riff, and are headed back up the scale, Do you do mostly hammer ons for the 3 note ascending groups or alternate pick it? good stuff

That is some excellent clean technique!

Damn son, you're going places....
Yeah to jail lol
Christian Esposito what?
awesome, that's such an iconic buckethead lick. you play it really well, you're a great player!
Thanks for posting this video man. You really got me into the shred part of the guitar. It got me off of only playing blues scales and Dorian mode
Awesome dude, thanks alot!
A little extra help for the people, those licks are in the E minor scale
Yeah great lesson but it would be useful to know the picking pattern!
Watch Paul Gilbert picking lessons. He taught Buckethead. Combine that technique with this and you got it.
@@Hugs_4_Bugs_ Genius!
That first lick is such a tasty Paul Gilbert thing. I love hearing his influence shine through with Buckethead.
For years I thought Gilbert WAS Buckethead.....still do.
To bad. Its impossible

I thought I was a shredder, but you qualify to play right next to Buckethead himself
Man, You are AWESOME!!!

You teach better shred licks than any full on teacher ive seen on here..
Love buckethead, thanks for the lesson. Very similar to the licks in Paul Gilbert's intense rock.
I wish I could see which notes you are picking when you do the main riff fast.
thanks for the lesson. been waiting for someone to go i depth about that shit
Enlightening, to the point, great presentation!
That lick!

same hehehehe was shocked :O
Can I play like this with legato technique?
I would really appreciate if you could show the picking pattern of the whole lick and also the picking and the note secuence when changing from one pattern to another, going downwards the scale.

Pablo Montero if you can't figure it out on your own is over for you

Awesome tutorial dude helped me alot!!
What about the one hand no picking shred on Nottingham lace.
Great tutorial! I'll definitely practice this! Are you picking every note or are you using hammer ons?
SkrillFANofS0n1c a mixture of both actually, its half picking half legato! hope that helps thanks for watching bro!
amazing video m8 love bucket
Hey man,how do you transition thruout the scale? Thanks..pls do more of Buckethead..
Thanks for this Video😎🤘
I know it can work being all alternate picked but to get it up to speed for me it sounds better doing some picking and some hammer on and pull offs.
God bless man!!!
Great lesson thanx!

Great stuff here!! You even have his signature ? Where did you get it and how much? If you don’t mind me askinf
what pedal are you using to get that signature buckethead shred tone? Please🙏

Pois é... A triste realidade brasileira. Uma lástima isso.
Solid! Badass man!
Patrick McClosky Thanks Patrick
Holly f*ck you've got some great skills right here! truly impressed! how long did it took to rock like buckethead ? ;)
I learned the lick and just started playing. that lick isn't very hard so it took me probably like 1 hour
How long u practice this lick ? and shred like this ? you shred so clean and accurately !!

play nottinghan lace by buchethead
good, is the same lick that paul gilbert. good video
Awesome lesson dude. Keep up the awesome playing. I use that word too much:)
Holy s that sounds amazing
Did your pinky grow from this?
Nice! What did you do to strengthen your ring and pinky finger?
Masato Lee Simple exercises on the high E string using mainly your ring and pinky fingers, build up strength in those fingers and you can get this lick down in no time.
Okay, Thanks!
thanks dude i think you helped me alot with technical dificulties.. does he always use that hammeron then pick next 3 picking technique throughe the whole song ?
Hey! Can you give me some tips on how to shred? (Speed picking, etc...)
practice. don't be a lazy ass.
also your fretboard looks like its brown insted of black??
Does the lesson pack link have this tab and gp file for this video? Thanks
Hello which pickup is in the bridge?
its the studio model, rosewood not ebony
I guess I'm to dumb to follow what the extended version of this lick is tab wise ??? any help ?
Amazing, so precisely you do that. What is the model of your guitar? - seems like a fingerboard the way wider , almost as one of classical guitars
It looks like it's the Buckethead signiture Gibson Les Paul Studio. His guitar is bigger than a standard Les Paul.

alternate pick it all?
Did you use any effects such as distortion or overdrive?
Clean!
Bravoooo!
awesome , where you get those licks? and how do you work to up speed ? you work with metronome? saludos!
i used my ears and figured it out and thats pretty much what came out. i did not use a metronome for this particular run actually
Do you pick every note or use legato
Doing it on acoustic.. Fuck yeah
how long did it take you to play it that fast ?
which notes are picked?
have you tabs of buckethead?
plis
