Even in the US, Miami Beach told Spring Breakers they were breaking up w/them after 3-straight yrs that the city had to enact emergency measures to control disorderly tourists and impose strict restrictions.
They're the problem. Not the people who just want to respect & enjoy what they came there to and all the businesses and residents who welcome tourists and the money they bring to their communities.
What a sad rant today. Don't blame us for voting Labour - we didn't and actually nor did 66% of people. Only 34% of people voted labour. 13% voted Lib Dem - dictatorial autocrats who I personally hate as they are destroying our beautiful city the same as Khan destroys London.
14% of people voted Reform and only got 5 seats. You tell me how lib dems got less votes than reform but got 65 more seats than them?

Agree with you regarding the harassment of tourists in Spain. The Spanish locals are targeting the wrong people - it's not the tourists fault that the authorities have allowed too many properties to be holiday homes and local rents to be set too high. Spaniards should be complaining outside their town halls.

The resorts in the UK especially Cornwall has the same problems as the Spanish resorts. Locals can't afford to buy a house and rents are high.
Where can you go? I have fallen out of love with Canada - too many immigrants that don’t share Western values, too much political correctness, not enough doctors or nurses, young people can’t afford the sky high rents never mind trying to save for a house, traffic gridlock in the cities, absolutely corrupt politicians, extortionate taxation, cold climate for much of the year….people voted for Trudeau II and this is what they got. Nasty!
You could try Australia, rents are high here too but it’s warmer for most of the year, the more north in Oz that you go, the warmer it gets. Even down in the southern cities it doesn’t snow in winter, if it does snow which is extremely rare, it’s a surprise and melts very quickly. It’s not perfect here but I’d rather be here than any of the other countries I’ve visited because we have a good sense of humour, brilliant beaches, wide open spaces and if we don’t like our leaders we change them for one with hopefully a bit more good sense and better policies. 🇦🇺🦘🦘🇦🇺

My postman only ever comes every two weeks ( if we're lucky). I've missed two hospital appointments, and I've had no important letters. We've just been given an address for a different phone number to complain to. I'm now 68, and this is the first time that I have never voted, I was so annoyed. The worst part of tourism is the rise of airbnbs. Now there is a shortage of long term rentals because they make more money on the short term rentals. Nobody can afford to live where tourists go.

I totally get how you feel Trevor. We saw the writing on the wall 12 years ago. I was a state pensioner, just, my husband had taken early retirement because of a recent brain haemorrhage (he is slighly younger than myself) We rented out our house and moved to Cyprus. 7 years renting, then sold our house and bought our own place here. The more we hear about what is happening in the UK, the more grateful we are that we were able to leave. I feel so sad for our family and friends who are still there . The health service here is second to none, it's superb.

The figures I've seen so far show that Labour had approx 9 million out of the approx 17 million who voted. We currently have a population of 68 million. No consolation I know, but not a strong show of support for Labour.

Imagine no tourism in spain? Empty bars that would have to close, empty hotels that would have to close, all little gift shops closed,Trevor is right Spain would be finished without tourism, some hotels dread the winter months because of lower bookings.
I've been saying that if the Spanish are against tourism, there's no employment for them. Bars, hotels. Its basically cutting their noses off to spite their faces. I love Spain. So much culture and beautiful towns and cities. They're going about it the wrong way.
@@CatFluff-pm6qr Spain does have some exports eg fruit , veg , olive oil but certainly around the Coast tourism is a very high percentage . But like everywhere else there are enormous difficulties with lack of staff in a lot of industries , high rents , difficulty in getting an itv ( mot) ,high prices for a decent living standard and the list goes on ! Seems to be the same all over the world since Covid ?

Hi Trevor, I wish I was younger & with no health issues, I too would be seriously considering moving abroad, so totally understand you having had a belly full of this country. Especially given the vicious personal attacks & cyber stalking you’ve had to put up with these past few years, whilst the toxic ring leaders of a concerted attack squad go unpunished, our country’s laws are ridiculous, & sadly look as though they’re about to get worse under the new leadership!🥺 I honestly dread what’s in store for us in the coming years, I have a huge feeling of foreboding that I just can’t shake off! I am getting on in years, have physical health issues & disabilities, widowed & live alone & I truly fear that I’m one on the many on the new Gov’s ‘hit list’. I can only live in hope that Nigel & his four colleagues hold Starmer, Rayner, & Lammy’s feet to the fire!🤞

Would have voted Reform...but no candidate...another male voter was furious even asked the officer if been left off form! We will all suffer now.
When a survey was made of the reasons people voting Labour voted that way, the number one reason was "to get the Tories out", which is a pretty shallow reason, to my mind. Leaving other parties out of it, such as Reform, which is better at this point - to vote the "do nothing"party in, or to vote the "do enormous harm" party in?
The many who don't follow the policies and only vote out of protest are shallow they might as well not vote. Take an interest, listen and weigh up the pros and cons of what the parties had promised from last pre election campaigns times, and whether they have fulfilled any of the things that they promised the public. And listen to the parliament sessions ,broadcast on TV or read the political writeups in the newspapers or on social media. I'd rather try and make a decision based on knowledge of what is being discussed and policies passed or rejected on the floor of parliament. Just recently a vote was to be taken in parliament but all members of one particular party removed themselves from the body of parliament so they didn't have to vote and the motion didn't get passed, so how is that being democratic and those tactics. Should never be permitted. They are grown adults not children spitting the dummy when it's no longer payable to the taste .

People voted thinking immigration would fall the next day and we could afford to live on our island without Europe ! Living in Spain has been impacted hugely with not being in the Schengen area. Brits are only allowed to spend 90 days in any 180 so if you own property here , the downsides are huge . It’s ok if you become resident and lose your uk driving licence for a Spanish one but it’s not a suitable state for owning a Spanish property if you only want to visit when you want to. This 90 day rule covers the whole of the European continent. Thanks all to Brexit there are many other far reaching problems ! We cannot accept parcels without huge duty payments etc etc !

My partner and I went to Barcelona in April, we stayed in a beautiful friendly hotel for 5 days, an old palaceta. Everyone we met during our stay were lovely, the Barcelona McDonalds staff (I refused to walk a step more without a drink!) were outstanding! I saw no problems or protesting, we used mainly family local Spanish restaurants recommended by the hotel and they were fantastic. Don’t be put off Barcelona is a beautiful city with beautiful people.

When a patriot such as yourself is thinking of immigrating tells a lot about the state of affairs of the politics. But where would you move to that will be any different - politicians all over seem to be the same now - more about themselves than their country.

Except look at the tourist areas around Britain and how second home holiday makers are out pricing locals being able to buy their first home. Locals need to stop selling to non locals so I can well understand how Spanish locals feel.
I’m not a gambling person Trevor, but I’m betting Starmer won’t last the full 5 years and within a year people will be wishing they hadn’t voted Labour. I can foresee we will be in more debt than we are now, that usually happens with Labour and there will be nothing done. How can you have a true social party when its leader is a ‘Sir’. Why was the first thing he did, as a priority, give money to the Caribbean. I know we should help but it doesn’t look good to say you are going to turn Britain round then do that. I’m not a big football fan but of course you route for your country. I agree with the Spanish ppl. I’d love to live in Spain but there’s lots of holiday homes and they are getting priced out.
We moved to central Portugal 🇵🇹 11 years ago. It's now home. Lower cost of living, lovely people, old fashion family values excellent preventative healthcare and the weathers much warmer.
Trevor , hi I live in Spain in an expensive tourist area on the Costa Blanca . Most of my friends and I came over 20 years ago when life was generally much cheaper!There is very little rental property available both short and long term ! Rents are extortionate and most property to buy is very expensive ! However , my friends ( all residents)and I just avoid the beach areas and when most of the tourists leave early to end of September , the area becomes a very pleasant , relaxed ,quiet and lovely place to live ! The temperatures are high in summer and the humidity is horrid but after September the temps are lovely and hardly had to use much heating in the winter . Food and drink is cheaper and it is a much more social place than the UK ! I am elderly but I am not afraid to go out at night and buy food or go to the bars , restaurants and cinema ! There is a lot of bureaucracy here ,but just have to get a grip and plough on through the obstacles ! The health service is second to none ( free to us pensioners ) and so all in all , even with some private difficulties going on , I would thoroughly recommend moving over . However , since B Brexit there are a lot more hurdles to jump , thanks to the clever UK voters who had NO idea of the consequences for the UK and us “ Brits abroad”. There are a lot of “ Fiestas” here , sadly including the Bull running in every city, town and hamlet and unfortunately there are a lot of accidents but most of these ( in my area) are stupid tourists who have no respect for the poor hungry , frightened , desperate animals put through such barbaric treatments .
Certainly there is a big petition forming where the bullfights are already banned in some places , also the younger Spanish are much more aware of the atrocities committed on such poor animals that they are beginning to shun some of the Traditions. However , as only guests in this Country we must respect the traditions until they are no longer supported . Good for you thinking of moving , look into everything before you book your flights and hope to see you down at the beach here , one day !! Good luck !!
