    Will it work with a 1 TB SSD or will be better a smaller one.

    Hello! Do these specifications also apply to the Thinkpad T470? Is it necessary to have an SSD with key B and M instead of just key M?

    • @yeoldestuff
      @yeoldestuff  25 днів тому +1

      Hi, the T470 accepts only B or B+M-keyed SATA SSDs in the WWAN slot. An NVMe SSD would not work.

    Great tutorial! I would like to know if is it possible to run an OS on that ssd or you just use as data storage?

    • @yeoldestuff
      @yeoldestuff  Місяць тому +1

      Hi. Yes, it is possible to install an OS on the second SSD, you can choose which OS to boot by pressing F12 when the Lenovo logo appears on the screen.

    sorry for my grammar, you dont need to remove the battery (and bios procedure) to installing the additional ssd? or it is a must to do that procedure before adding additional ssd or adding additional ram or switching the main ssd?
    thanks for the tutor

    • @yeoldestuff
      @yeoldestuff  9 місяців тому

      You need to do disable the battery in the BIOS every time you work on your laptop. Otherwise it's very easy to damage the motherboard.

      @@2DAnimax NVMe specs place no limit on the capacity, and there are many reports of 4TB drives running perfectly fine in the T480/T480s. I don't believe that you would be able to find a B-keyed 4TB 2242 drive though, so the secondary drive will be limited by whatever you can find.

      You can use the WWAN slot to add a second SSD to the T470, but it should be SATA. It won't work with an NVMe drive.

      I prefer the T480s, it has better cooling and the chassis itself is metal. However, the T480 can take more RAM (64GB vs 40GB) and it has the dual battery system which many people prefer.
