    Very thoughtful of the Landrover engineers to design the car to rust in such a way that makes removing unnecessary metal for your Aston Martin body swap so much easier.

      @@ferdinandstrat I think so... This looks like a spiritual successor to Project Binky... Based in the UK, a madlad (only one this time round) taking a rusty wreck back down to whatever good bits are left. In a field. And preparing to plop a completely different body on top of it.

    It is a LOT of work to strip a body in this way when you're alone. I know, I mostly do my work alone. When you finish a project like this, and it turns out well, the sense of achievement is all the better because of the suffering you had to endure. Stay strong, mate. We are with you in spirit.

    I can't believe the amount of rust in that Land Rover, but I have to because I'm looking right at it (To borrow a Vice Grip meme). They must build those with a saltwater paint underneath to get the corrosion process going right in the factory. It's a miracle that frame is not rusted through in a few places. He only buys old British cars. And he was saying how they seem to last way longer in Switzerland, in far tougher conditions. So his conclusion was the salt we use in the U.K….but who knows!!

    Great video as usual.
    Have you named the project yet like Land Martin or Aston Rover or Aston Disco Martin?
    Getting cool Dakar and Baja vibes

      Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! I was thinking ‘overland Aston’ or even better, my Dad suggested ‘Astrover’

    02:25 Why are you surprised? British cars are world famous for one thing. They rust worse than any other non-British car.

      I’ve seen a lot of British rust…but in person, the way this one just folded up was shocking!

    Do yourself a favour and buy a reciprocating saw. Much easier to manipulate on the car body than a grinder.

    • @HudsonAutoFilms
      @HudsonAutoFilms  Місяць тому +1

      Sadly due to the limited voltage (powered by small generator) the saw doesn’t power up fast enough. So can’t cut through much, the grinder is underpowered, but I suppose due to the limited friction on the blade, it still does the job

    So if you're in there with the grinder, who gets the funk out?
    What I mean is, I haven't started documenting my projects because I found it daunting doing both the video and the hardware parts myself.

    • @HudsonAutoFilms
      @HudsonAutoFilms  Місяць тому +3

      It is hard! It makes every task on the car take longer and then hours upon hours of footage to edit! But the results are really cool and I love interacting with everyone on here :)

  • @dh88comet
    @dh88comet Місяць тому

    I'm assuming that you have limited power at the barn - generator? And you'll be taking it to where you welded the frame for the DBS? Will you be keeping the TDI or giving it something more worthy of an Aston?

    • @HudsonAutoFilms
      @HudsonAutoFilms  Місяць тому +1

      Yep powered by a little generator! I’d love to get mains supply or even a big generator. But the cost is vast! So yes I’ll be taking back to the home garage for the welding!
      I think initially I’ll keep the diesel…then once the car has been tested and all the issues ironed out. I’ll feel more confident in putting a bigger engine in!
