I lived in California, Washington state, New Mexico, Florida, and Indiana. New Mexico has the most beautifully perfect blue sky l have ever seen. I don't know what it is, but it's remarkable.

There are reasons why southern California is so heavily populated, despite all the genuine drawbacks of living there. Consistently good weather is one of those reasons (movie studios are not there by accident). Good on you for the proper English-looking breakfast / brunch after the Best Buy shopping excursion - it looks like you ate well. Shopping requires sustenance.
I was in LA a month ago and it's cool to see Mary play the same Sterling Mariposa at the Hollywood Guitar Center that I did.
I always enjoy watching when you're picking a guitar.

I've just got back from LA (I'm also from the UK), went to see some concerts but never made it to any music shops, although was in that Guitar Centre last time I was there back in Jan 2020.
It would have been funny after following you all these years to finally meet you 5000 miles from where we both live 😂

I own the tobacco burst PRS P20E and it is a sweet little couch guitar, though I have actually used it at a couple of gigs, as well. Perfect for sitting on the couch, watching UA-cam vids and figuring out, or playing along with, songs.
Thanks for letting me know which model that was lol about to get it now !! I have a Martin Dreadnought made in Mexico and it’s not the most comfortable guitar to play with at times

I bought two Fender guitars from Best Buy in 2008 when they got out of the muiscal instument business. Both are CAR. Still got them. A Tele and a Blacktop Jag.
For cameras go over to Samys Camera on Fairfax. I am born and raised here in LA and I have been an editorial photographer for 40 years. Norms Rare Guitars in Tarzana is the place for vintage guitars. For Guitar set up go to Eric’s Guitar Shop in Van Nuys. He does the set ups for many known professionals. I guess you are here for NAMM. For a good pancakes go to Du-Pars at the Farmers Market Fairfax & 3rd Street next to The Grove. That is near Samys Camera. The only thing I like at IHOP is their German pancakes.

Look who is in town! That is a GREAT GC, with Sam Ash across the street. We are just a few miles from the NAMM site, but will probably just “go” to NAMM for the online stuff, as COVID rates are rising. While on the west side, check out McCabe’s guitar shop in Santa Monica. Been awhile since I’ve been there, but I think you’ll love it. Also, great food at Upper West on Pico.
McCabe's is great. Not as massive as that Guitar Center, but it has character. And more stringed instruments than just guitars (I bought my banjo there). I've also seen many cool shows there.
MS: you need to get over to Norman's Rare Guitars and play us another tune!

Funny you talk about the consistent blue sky…I was in LA from 16-20th last month and it was overcast and cool every day apart from one. It even rained one day. I found myself thinking, “well that song about how ‘it never rains in Southern California’ was BS anyway!”

I bought a full sized HPL Martin in Koa like the baby Martin you played except mine has a cutaway.....Oregon like England I assume has a lot of rain so it's such a stable guitar...almost waterproof and fireproof...I love mine....I bought a Roland Jazz Chorus amp to take overseas at that same Guitar Center in 1983 or so

I lived in LA from 1979-1992 and the Guitar Center was my local shop. But I had a flashback at about 4min into your video - I owned a Gibson ES-140T in the 1970s-80s until it was stolen out of my car parked around the corner from that store. Seeing that guitar in your hands, and the price tag both freaked me out. I only ever owned 2 Gibsons and that one was special. Enjoy Lotusland. It’s a bit damp back in Blighty.

Every time I've checked out the Little Martins at a store they've been pretty fun. They have some personality despite their size lol

Another very good place for computer parts and asscessories is Micro Center but that's in Tustin.
It does put Best Buy to shame though.
Mary, go to Huntington Beach. Get breakfast at Sugar Shack. Find Trevor Green and play some music together. He can often be found Tuesday evenings at Surf City nights on the the main street. It is magical, I promise.
You did not say exactly what day you did your visit to Sunset Strip, but April through June is mostly sunny and not too hot. There are some days when the marine layer moves inland and covers all of the LA basin with low clouds. We even had a little drizzle a few weeks ago that would be more like English weather.
Bohemia's drip is one of the best "Plain Jane" cups of coffee you'll find anywhere.

I'm also a real spender for guitars...I own over twenty guitars now and I still shop for guitars which is a bit crazy, but it's fun!...I'm a GAS case (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome) and vintage amps are also on my hunting list... ;-)
