Gordon was absolutely right about david. After this he went back to the old menu, and even sold the lobster machine. He was the ultimate downfall of black pearl
I hated the lobster machine, it was cruel. Don't lobsters get a shitty enough deal sitting in a tank surrounded by noise and bright light, claws tightly bound, waiting to be eaten, without the added stress of a massive mechanical claw coming down and grabbing them? Shit that was sadistic.
@@glamdolly30 Can't you literally say that about any animal you buy? Sitting in a tank or a cage waiting to be eaten surrounded by bright light and noises. Why specifically lobsters?
Lol at the girl in Times Square getting an autograph from Gordon and saying, “I’m eating at your restaurant tonight!” when they were all trying so hard to convince people to go to the black Pearl 😂
David's maturity stopped evolving at 11 years old when he entered middle school and thought he was all grown up and wise about the world when he was really just a self-centered brat
To paraphrase dara o brien: when a 40 year old hears a 20 year old tell them the best way to do something, its like hearing a six year old say that a stegosaurus is the best dinosaur.

I'm convinced that when David switched with Greg as expeditor, he intentionally switched because he knew everything was going to shit and doesn't want to be held accountable for it
For you who want to know what happened next. Black Pearl closed just 4 days after the episode aired. Yelp reviews after filming are mostly negative with complaints over the quality of the menu dishes. David had an extremely long rant about Gordon in a letter allegedly from all three owners, blaming him for the 50% drop in sales.
But… over 4 days thats impossible to have affected anything.. being that very few people would have known what chef ramsay actually thought about the restaurant. What killed it is the attention it got after locals heard of the news, and that attention got them the reviews they deserve.
@@Sakisasvictorianmask I have seen people comment that. Haven't tried verifying it for myself, but hey that counts as doing fine for himself in my books.
David is what happens when you have no real skills in life. Imagine feeling superior in the restaurant industry to Gordon Ramsey (while also being on his show where he saves restaurants). Make it make sense David.
idk, i had no real life skills but I chose to work on it and get some. This guy decided to behave like a total prick because he got a taste of small power. It's pathetic
"Tell me, is it a different animal? _Homarus americanus,_ same animal, right?" He's the type of dude that will bring you a chihuahua when you specifically adopted a German shepherd. David acting like his last name is Attenborough with the Latin nomenclatures yet he didn't even know intraspecific variations exist.
If we're being honest I really think that chihuahuas and german shepherds are not the same species... Same genus, but not species. Shepherds look like actual wolf descendants. Chihuahuas look like a mistake. I mean I'm obviously joking but no, seriously.
David is a textbook case of someone who doesn’t want to give you an honest answer so he deflects by answering your question with his own question. He’s also a case study in gaslighting by telling Cat that her drinking at the bar after her shift ends isn’t policy. He definitely appears to be a malignant narcissist.
The live lobster game was sickening to any feeling person with an IQ in above double figures. If I walked into a restaurant and saw the lobsters being abused like that, I'd walk right out again. It's sadistic - lobsters can feel fear. Being grabbed and dragged up and down the tanks by a mechanical claw is bound to traumatise them in their last days alive. If you are going to eat sentient creatures, show them respect, don't torment them like that!

I will never forget when I was at a food court one time, and a long-haired woman angrily took her Asian food back to the place because there was a (long) hair in it. The look on the bald chef’s face as he made eye contact with the bald server was priceless.
type up is the black pearl still open click the first link and you'll see how david truly feels about Gordon...........if you dont want to then david said he hoped gordon meets an untimely death and wants to dance on his grave ..................the sad part is he had the balls to drag greg and brians name into it
34:27 Greg shows a nice leadership quality of caring for his employees, while he is under a lot of pressure and the kitchen is so backed up that he needs to jump in to take food to customers, he still asks a server standing at the door if she's okay...
he's the best one that could've done the job, but too bad he still wasn't that great when the kitchen got busy. It's just unfortunate to see. When managing the kitchen you just GOTTA be quick and organised. One docket after the other in order. We didnt see that, there were dishes still on the pass getting cold. Obviously its not just his fault though.
Totally infuriating episode. Shame the production company couldn’t sign a wager preventing these jokes of owners from plundering all the good will money they spent renovating the restaurant.
For many reasons I feel that this show was perfect for Gordon. He is the prime example of how a good consultant should be. btw loved that part where the server says "Gordon has a bs detector, and it works well on david as he can be full of it sometimes". 11:09
David didn't want Gordon to succeed with his new menu-how ironic was that -all the staff loved it as well as the customers but it appeared that David intentionally and perhaps maliciously, possibly out of jealousy refused to acknowledge. He was so offended by being told the truth and his ego got hurt. Some owners are in the wrong career.
You see that a huge amount in the industry. Not just from owners. Head chefs, managers etc... I'm constantly baffled by the amount of egos I've witnessed in restaurants over the years. If Muhammad Ali fought Connor MacGreggor there'd be less ego in the ring than some of the bloody restaurants I've worked in. It's a bit of dinner, we're not curing fucking cancer...
Greg: *tries his best despite the struggle* Brian: *effortless, yet an honest man* David: *a failure superior* they are the physical representation of Id, Ego, and Superego.
And just brutally honest and you have to be. Restaurants sell FOOD. The thing people eat to survive. it has to be done RIGHT or risk making people sick or even die.
Watching this full episode I think that Greg really can manage the restaurant on his own .. his friendly, helpful, polite, honest and very kindhearted. David on the other hand must be fired
Moral of the story: Don't have 3 people operating the restaurant because one of them will sue Gordon Ramsay. Martin The General Manager from Dillon's and David from Black Pearl are the best examples of them.
The managers at Dillon's are actually similar to the owners here. Greg very much reminds me of Andrew. Brian reminds me of Khan and David reminds me of Martin

There was a soul food restaurant in the UK kitchen nightmares and i dunno what their problem was maybe just poor location ect but Gordon loved the food i think you can find a clip of it with "Kitchen nightmares gordon finishes his plate" it's like a dish of ribs and some sort of jambalaya so i'd assume it is fresh
I feel so sorry for Greg... He was the one that invested all the money! One of his other two partners should be the one to step up and make it work. He genuinely seems like a nice guy to boot.
I wonder if David knows that it's actually a crime to miss represent food like that, at least it is in canada idk about the US. For instance presenting a steak as AAA canadian prime beef while it'd actually American beef can result in very heavy fines.
Highly illegal in the UK too. My workplace got in trouble for advertising "toast with butter" on the menu, because it was actually a margarine type spread that we used and not butter
In the EU food names are heavily regulated and protected. That is why champagne has to be from the French province of champagne to be able to have that name. Swedish falukorv has to be from a special recepie to be able to bear that name. Breaking these laws is a serious offence.

David had an extremely long rant about Gordon in a letter allegedly from all three owners, blaming him for the 50% drop in sales.

He is a complete prick - lets be honest
I get it. Plundering. Lol.
Take what you can! Give nothing back!

Gordon Ramsey has never been an "Evil Devil" he just has high standards and knows exactly what it takes to succeed in the restaurant business.
And just brutally honest and you have to be. Restaurants sell FOOD. The thing people eat to survive. it has to be done RIGHT or risk making people sick or even die.
The real evil devil is David.
Watching this full episode I think that Greg really can manage the restaurant on his own .. his friendly, helpful, polite, honest and very kindhearted.
David on the other hand must be fired
Moral of the story:
Don't have 3 people operating the restaurant because one of them will sue Gordon Ramsay.
Martin The General Manager from Dillon's and David from Black Pearl are the best examples of them.
The managers at Dillon's are actually similar to the owners here. Greg very much reminds me of Andrew. Brian reminds me of Khan and David reminds me of Martin
Except for that restaurant run by those three gym bros, they were chill and thankfull for Gordon's help.
