I think you know your thing, but I had a hard time listening to you. Please take this as constructive criticism as I think you're a good guy and do not want to offend you.
the stitching on my kabar blew out and it cut me when I slid in the blade holding the sheath not the best sheath. knife was ridiculously sharp out of the box
I use the kukri from Kabar whenever I go camping. I find it splits logs easily enough in a pinch. The blade stays fixed, feels like an extension of my arm. But a few camping trips in I really just ended up missing using a splitting axe. I still bring my Kabar with me, but it's been reserved for my b.o.b. at this point. Hopefully this helped.
Thanks for the review. It kind of reassured me, as I had recently bought the Ka-Bar and I'm actually waiting for it to come in the mail, but I still wasn't sure if I should have made the right choice. But this review helped me out.
Thanks for watching, you definitely will not be disappointed in the Ka-Bar. I recently got back from a 3 day hike into sub-zero temps to test our bug-out equipment. Low reached -10, who knows what the wind chill was -30 perhaps, but I can say without a doubt the Ka-Bar kukri is worth every single penny. Without any additional sharpening it made EASY work of anything I deemed worthy of fire tinder. Including a dead tree that was 10-12" wide & about 12-15 feet tall which we burned all day by slowly feeding it over the top of the fire. Biggest lesson learned from trip? Always Scotch Guard your "water proof" Boots! My feet definitely regretted not doing it! lol
I have both. The KA bar holds its edge. The Cold Steel edge rolls over. Cold Steel did not respond to my contacts for a refund. I would not trust this Cold Steel in a needed situation. Buyer beware.
You should've compared an Ontario kukri to the ka bar because they're in the same price range...what you're doing is comparing a Hyundai to a Mercedes compare it to the sk-5 version by coldsteel
the schrade (not available at the time of this vid) or Ontario are better imo.....best and more expensive than any listed (by me or this video) Ka bar BK 21
Say Heah, I love my Khukuris and my Cold Steel Kukuri Plus in O1. It's not a Machete, because it's 5/16" thick. Infact I teamed it with my VG-1 San Mai 3 Master Hunter. Anyhow, in my neck of the woods in mild weather, the brambles Warrenton a Long Knife. I like my Ka-Bar Johnson Adventure Parangatang. It has a nice reach, and I can even baton it. I generally bring a Hatchet along anyway. I really like my Parangatang made in the 1095 CroVan, it's like a longer BK-9. I really like that. Infact in mild weather, I might just take my Parangatang instead if a Hatchet. You did good.,,. p
Fortunately Cold Steel has gotten better about finishing their machetes. The more recent ones come with fairly even convex grinds, decent working edges right out of the packaging, and a coating that is an improvement on the old baked on one. They've also stopped putting those stickers on the blades and they've even improved the sheaths a little. They still aren't of the caliber of the Kabar, but at least now you can actually buy a Cold Steel machete, get it out of the package, and put it to use right away. They're more than worth the price.
Bad comparison, because he is comparing the Kbar to the low end Cold steel kukri. The Ghurka Kukri is a real wide, log splitting, chopping, master! Apples to oranges on this comparison
@@namethem00 ...not machetes... a true kukri ( the traditional ones), which the cold steel is not...the ka bar more so but still not really are more like a big knife. much heavier than a machete, thick spine. a Machete is meant for light chopping of things like corn, grass ect. While you could use a kukri for that it is better suited for chopping of smaller thicknesses of wood, farm, and fighting (military use)....do your own research before you criticize!
Cold steel is still an amazing company. They make well-made, incredibly priced machetes that never break or crack. Don't get me wrong, I had the extra money and bought the Ka-Bar, but you can never go wrong with Cold Steel.
Living Survival hold the phone. I can't believe it but cold steel actually contacted me, after about 6 weeks of no replies. They honoring my request for free shipping & are sending me a new Kukri free of charge. I'll update you guys on how the new machete looks out of the box when I receive it. Aside from that I'm rather pleased that Cold Steel still cares about it's costumers.
Noss the knife tester hammered the CS Kukri through wood and cinder block. He bent it over 90 degrees and bent it back. He hammered the hand grip with a sledge hammer. He had a very difficult time trying to destroy it. He said it was one of the toughest blades he ever tested and would be a survival tool he would have complete confidence in.
The word is 'Kukri', not 'Kukuri'... And define 'fake'? Of course it's not a 'genuine' Nepalese Kukri. It's the blade style which defines it as such. No-one said it was an original Nepalese Kukri. It's not claiming to be. Ka-bar are good, trustworthy tools however...
The review is ok, but moving those blades all the time, in and out of focus, makes it very annoying.
these two are not comparable with the 30$ difference between each other
Based on price it seems that you are reviewing the CS kukri MACHETE. It is much thinner and cheaper.

Try the BK21? OR kershaw Camp 10
What is a good large knife for camping, splitting wood? Tell me a few if you know them...$20-$50 Are Kukri style blades good for that or not?

get saved tops kukari#1 ,and miller brothers machete #2 kabar kukari...
Great job of reviewing! I especially liked your Ka-Bar sheath experience. Fair, balanced, and I'm glad I have the extra $20 (today)!

That's awesome dude. I'll probably use mine in regular temperature, but thanks again for the video!

Both are awsome ,I've taken both out and did fine, cold steels in my b.o.b
I got a machete in a camping pack for 20$ and it is more of a kukri than these two are. they're machetes sure but not kukris
the schrade (not available at the time of this vid) or Ontario are better imo.....best and more expensive than any listed (by me or this video) Ka bar BK 21
bilbobaggins8876 I’ve looked at both.. the Schrade has cheaper steel compared to the k bar which has a high carbon steel which is what made up my mind

These are all pretend Kukri not much more than a machete with kukri shape. Hold a real Nepalese Kukri and the difference is chalk and cheese.
i got one of each just to be sure.

do some research before you do a review.

cold steel as it is....amazing products...
kukri's are not machete's.
bilbobaggins8876 what are they then? Knives?

Ka bar Kukri is the best
Remind me never to buy a cold steel product, lol ;)-

Great to hear my friend!
