I own the Ka-Bar and use it a lot especially in the late summer when clearing out brush and tree from hunting areas. I like it so much that when my first one was stolen from my truck I purchased another to replace it. That was 5 years ago and it is as sturdy as ever with heavy use.
The thing I love about my Kabar Kukri is that I can do heavy tasks, fine tasks, and even defend myself with it if need be. Cant ask for much more. I love carrying it in the woods. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for taking the time to post the video. I suggest you chop it at an angle like you mean to chop the damn thing in half. I own both of these and they are both spectacular pieces of equipment. Used Kabar for 9 months in the jungle to clear small trees and Ontario to lop off butchered hog and deer heads and ankles. Take care of the tools and keep sharp with a file. You nailed it, can't go wrong with either. I suggest folks buy both and use for different task requirements.
He ain't no lumberjack. Notice how out of breath he is. Sounds like he's gonna ned to be resuscitated. The best survival move this guy vould make for himself would be to get in shape
Ive had the kbar for about 12 years, i used it in the central american jungle over the army issue golok it it a great too and still has most of its coating on the blade.
I like both companies, and think both their products are good, but for a chopper, at a reasonable price, is the O.K.C. GEN2 SP-53, It's a beast, it's a little shorter the the kukuris, regarless, for that kind of chopping, the SP-53 would be my choice.
Thanks for the up. Will take a look at that SP53. I also like both companies. It is really is hard to compare 2 such good blades from 2 such great companies. Thank you again.
Oh, I also have a smaller version of my M-43 to my specs so I can carry it on person. The large one has a Black Buffalo Horn Handle and both are Full Tang. The smaller one has White Buffalo Horn Handle it's a beauty. I also have a Cold Steel Kukuri Plus in O1 and that's a good one too the tang by the handle is bigger and the handle doesn't roll when I chop with it, like some of my friends Kukuri in the SK-5, They most of made the tang bigger there. I enjoyed your video and you girl, I think that's awesome.
The Kabar fighting/utility knives are actually made out of 1095 CroVan steel, same as Ontario's 1095 but with added chromium and vanadium. Whereas the Kabar kukri and their other Taiwan produced blades utilize 1085. Still excellent blades.
Do a dual of blades test. Beat on steel and glass on a car. Fight Jaws with then and see which ones win? Don b all day splits wood single handed. Resident Evil does in zombies with Ontario Kukri Machete. Ka Bar is about $20 more no brainer.
+Carter Cassady Truly I can only say that you can not go wrong with either of these blades. They are both very good. If you had to pick , I would just flip a coin cuz either way you cant go wrong.
Say Heah, Yeah, I like the 1095 Carbon Steel a little bit better because it does hold a little better edge retention..Ka-Bar does make a Combat Kukuri in the 1095 CroVan and That's what I'm talking about. But to add to my Becker Stable, I'm getting the BK-21 also in the 1095 CroVan and it's a little longer than the Combat Kukuri and it also has that ergonomic famous BK handles. I was going to take a mismatch set I planned to take out this weekend. I put together these knives, I was going to take my Himalayan Imports M-43 Khukuri with my Bokor Magnum Series Vox Collection 2011 Knife, which I think match especially with their black handles. Fir my delicate work, I was going to add my Vintage Myerchin Pocket Knife it's a strong robust knife with a Warrencliff blade it's a very sturdy lock-up because these type of pocket knives are used on moving Sailboats and it has a Marlin Spike which I use to untangle knots. and the slabs match the other knives. The Bokor is a very Retro looking knife and probably the nicest design I own and that modified Warrencliff really a natural match and goes well with my M-43 Khukuri that would go with alot of knives. The Bokor and the Myerchin are in the 440c. and the M-43 is from a Mercedes Leaf Spring according to Bill (R.I.P.) Yangdu husband and it's deferentially tempered. I could also add a Wilkerson Sword INOX Slipjoint Pocket Knife to the mix. I feel it's a complete set tgat I know I could survive and live in the bush with. Oh, I also would take my Wicked Tough Saw and that matches the set too. Extreme. Well yeah its alot ofvknives. But when we go out it's for a few days at a time. When I go out for a hot cup of coffee on the open fire and a baked potato I don't take that many knives. I might take a Belt Knife a 2Hawks Double Bit Hatchet and my Wicked Tough Saw and it doesn't get any better, Beats hands down going to Micky Dee's for a hot cup of coffee and fries. But a while ago I bought a Bokor Plus Vox Black Rold. a nice knife but the Tec-Loc the holes didn't match. so I called Bokor and a very nice lady said tgey would correct the problem. I also told her the knife was very loose, dangerously loose. I put the knife on a chair in my bedroom and in the morning I was to put it asay. Well I forgot how dangerously loose the knife was and when I picked up my Rold, it flew out of the sheath and stuck me right on top of my foot, putting a very deep gash by my large toe. It bled alot and it took several hours to stop the bleeding. Everytime I walked, it started to bleed alot. This is the third day and finally I can walk on it and it's not bleeding as much so I think the worst is over. I did that once before when I got my Cold Steel Talwar, Tge phone rang and I placed a open knife on the box and went to answer tge phonr, my robe brushed against it and stuck me in my other foot, I did go to the E R and got three stiches. I was too embarrass to go this time and I think the worst is over. I know I'll have a scar but it's on my foot and you won't see it. WoW guys please becareful with pointy sharp things heh heh heh

How does this guy have a “bushcraft channel” and not know how to chop???
The internet makes everyone an expert, and does not discriminate on the basis of intelligence or skill level.
I know right

Thank you for watching and your input. I really do like the Ka-Bar too. Very nice blade.
Thanks for showing them side by side.
For me the awesome looks, thickness and that wicked bend gets the Ontario on top!
Cheers

nobody chopps right down in an 90 degree angle
Uuuuuh, didn't you watch the video? It is visual proof that some people actually chop right down at a 90 degree angle.

The Kabar is a machete, the Ontario is an actual kukril knife.
The standard 1217 Ka-Bar Mark II fighting knife, is made from 1095 Cro-Van.
Not 1085.

The ontario is more workable woth its thicker spine and lack of a swedge like the kabar so the ontario works well when used as a draw knife

Love those Gurkha knives ,especially the ones that are not too heavy to actually use. Both of those worked well in my opinion.
You should look into how to properly blouse your boots, if you were trying to blouse them anyway. Maybe you are trying to do something different.
Do the pistol test. Cut through leather pork ribs oranges pork ribs. See if its as awesome as a 1911
paid more for the Kabar to about 75$ retail at a local store and 50 ish for the okc
I have both I like the Kabar alot more
Thanks man I appreciate the video.

I also have both of these Kukri's, they're awesome. Great vid
Thank You.
which would you recommend out of the two? for camping purposes.
It is not blade thickness its quality of steel
Best Khukuri
Your bad at chopping but thanks for the review none the less
A tora blades kukri would blow both of these out of the water. Just sayin.
oh yeah, more than twice as expensive and out of stock.
Ka Bar BK21 Kukri machete is $160. Let's keep a dozen
Is this guy still alive? I can hear the lung cancer in him SCREAMIN
Bro kabar uses 1095 not 1085
You're both wrong bc the ka-bar kukri uses sk5 Japanese steel.
There are so many things wrong with this video. There must have been some beer involved
