Most people won't even realise, but Kojima and his martial arts expert conceived an entire martial art for Snake to use (CQC). It's amazing what depth it has and made me interested in japanese Ju-Jutsu that I practice to this day. Amazing game!
Yeah for sure it's annoying that if I wanna play the "HD" collection I have to pull out my 360 and even then it doesn't have mgs1 it has 2,3 and peace walker. My thing is if I'm going to pull out and dust off an old console I might as well play them on my ps2. Because honestly I don't really care about peacewalker and I have the subsistence versions of both games. If they're going to re remaster them they should add the multiplayer.
I bought a PS2 slim for THIS game! Even bought it again for Subsistence. One of my top five favorite games ever! Even after all these years, what a thrill...
My favorite game of all time. Just a pure masterpiece for its time. It’s gameplay might not be timeless, but man is the setting and presentation of this game amazing even to this day.
The gameplay, the stealth, the feeling, the plot, all the little intricacies, the politics, a masterpiece of a game. When I think of realism and survival one of the games that pops up into my head is MGS3. It doesn't have to be a 4k graphics game with in an in depth crafting system to be "survival" and it doesn't have to be a hardcore FPS to be "realistic." The way you interact with the world, despite how linear it is, was so immersive. Managing your resources on harder difficulties, deciding between risking it for an item or just sneaking past danger, all the different ways you can go about every area, tripping an alert and just barely staying alive, and so many more amazing mechanics and experiences all bundled into a PS2 game. Imagine that.
It doesn’t need a remake. The 3DS version is supposed to be a modern updated version and it barely changed anything because the game has stood the test of time. Unlike MGS1 it’s not outdated besides controls and graphics which were changed and updated in the 3DS version.
@@Evin07 Metal Gear ended a long time ago. You shouldn’t beat a dead horse. Also MGS3 with MGSV gameplay would be broken. How exactly would you balance it?
I will always love MGS3, I must have played it all the way through 10 plus times and I’m sure I will again. The deep lore with real world footage and espionage to bolster the feeling of authenticity, character development, passionate attention to detail; all these things are missing in so many triple A games of today.
So I was born in 1995, and I got to play games like this very early in age because I had a cool grandpa. I played and beat both MGS3 and RE4 the year that they came out. RE4 and MGS3 are my favorite games of all time for a good reason. I've never had an experience from a video game like these two since then. And to experience these games at such a young age made me fall in love with both franchises to this day.
I cannot believe this is a PS2 game. The graphics and animations look and feel pretty recent but what?! It was released in 2004?! Man I loved this game so much and thank you reminding me of that today.
This game among other releases (DQ 8, Shadow of the Colossus, Okami, FF12, etc) around the last 1/3 of the ps2 lifespan, that had me convinced video games really did not need to improve graphically.
This was and still is my favorite metal gear title. It's strong from beginning to end. That being said, I really should give 4 and 5 more play time. It just really felt like all aspects of the game were tight. The story was less esoteric than other MG titles and so I enjoyed the narrative much better, from beginning to end. The ending, (to this day tied with my favorite DQ8). The mechanics were solid as well and made the game slick to play). The environments, set pieces, and graphics were phenomenal as well. Furthermore, the boss fights were great (I usually dislike boss encounters). I hope at some point, Konami pulls their head out of their ass and offers a proper next gen remaster of all the 3d MG titles. I would love to see this title at 4k 60fps. I would gladly pay 60.00 for a release like that.
This game has the best codec conversations, lol. It doesn't get enough credit for perhaps being the MGS with the most sense of humor. If you spin Snake around in the menu enough times, he'll throw up in-game! It's little secrets like that, which highlighted a new level of detail Kojima would strive for. Food could spoil if it stays in the inventory too long. First-Person View is diminished after you lose your eye. It's pretty incredible all the finer things he cared about that other games don't bother paying attention to.
As far as gameplay goes, and especially time spent in the game at this point... V might be my favorite in the series, even if the story was underwhelming But every time I think about proclaiming that phantom pain is my favorite, I feel dirty, because this game is not just my favorite metal gear solid, but it was one of my absolute favorite games that generation. I wasn't even the biggest metal gear solid fan. My first entry into the series was the second game, which was just a total mindfuck of an introduction to metal gear solid. I still enjoyed it though, it was really cool to play. But I only ever beat it once other than that all of my time was spent replaying the tanker section as snake After that I played the twin snakes on gamecube, and I absolutely loved the hell out of that game. Beat It multiple times. But then Snake eater came out, the game play is better, I like the setting better, I liked all of the stuff with your camouflage system, sneaking around the jungle setting, I liked the more simplified story compared to even the original metal gear solid story, and I liked big boss so much more as a protagonist. Snake is a badass, and he was definitely really cool to take control of. But big boss is just more charming, he's a little bit naive in this game, and has this cheeky sense of humor about him that just makes him more endearing to play. And the story hits that much harder by the end of it knowing who he's going to become This game is just amazing. The boss fights might have been a bit of a step down from the prior to games overall, but experiences like the long walk by all the enemies you've killed to get to the sorrow, the beautifully poetic fight against the boss at the end, and then especially the fight against... Well The End. That might be one of the coolest boss fights in video game history. There's so many methods to beat him that are all pretty unique. I would put him right up there with the psychomantis fight as far as metal gear boss battles. I've heard rumor that this is actually the one they're going to remake. I have mixed feelings about that. This is a game that I would want to closely mimic the original in design and layout if it was remade, don't try and force open world crap into it. Open world design barely even made a difference in phantom pain, all you're going to do is just fly the helicopter to all the different sandboxes to mess around in. This game is so perfectly structured in both level design and narrative. If they could really just kind of keep that but update the visuals and controls... I would never play another game in my life. As it is I do find these older titles a little tougher to go back into. Really three would be made a lot better for me if there was just a damn crouch walk. Trying to replay metal gear solid 2 starts to make me wonder how I ever dealt with that camera But no matter what I will always hold mgs3 as one of the greatest games ever made

This game was nothing short of perfect. The absolute best in the series! A prequel yes, but still out right amazing! I haven't played V yet, not sure how I feel about Big Boss being voiced by Kiefer Sutherland.. but 3 is the best so far. The story, gameplay, and just the experience are phenomenal! I wish I had the ability to make myself forget things, just so I could replay it again for the first time. It does still have great replayability.. idk how many times I've beaten it, but would have no problem doing it again right now. Every time I play through I still find out something new. To me this was the peak of MG. We'll see if V changes that.
I did a perfect stealth run of this game a few years back, and it was gruelling as hell, but it felt so good at the end. Dragging Eva at the end of the game without being spotted was the toughest part.

I loved Mgs3, a lot of people call it the best game in the series for a reason. The graphics, music, story, characters, gameplay, replay value, boss fights, acting, ending, pacing and everything in it pretty much. I do thin the cobra unit could have been more flashed out and some of the gameplay can be a bit annoying. As well as starting of a bit slow but overall excellent game.
I think this is my all time favorite game. There are a few other games that come close but this is at the very top. I just love the setting of the game. When it came out & I played it for the first time I couldn't believe I was controlling snake in a freakin jungle! I wish there were more games that took place in the woods or in the jungle like MGS3 . Where the environment really feels genuine not just some stiff block like landscape. I wish that this series would keep going & going. These games never get old.
Graphics will always age, play mechanics will always evolve, but with an outstanding narrative and characters, brilliant art direction, and just incredible attention to detail and a sense of style audio and visually, you have the recipe for a timeless classic.
I absolutely loved this game, I beat it on hard without the use of the radar, doing it that way makes it way more immersive and intense, I even beat the End naturally, with a tranquilizer no less!
it's been almost 20 years and I still listen to the soundtrack of this game sometimes and remember all the feelings of being 18 years old and playing as big boss... that music was brilliant... having a big composer for the soundtrack in games wasn't the norm in the early 2000s. Between MGS and Final Fantasy X I got through my teenage emotions XD.
Check out 8-Bit Band awesome videogame cover of Snake Eater and many more, they have some very good Persona 5, Mario Kart and Chrono Trigger covers as well 😎👍🏾
MGS3 could be remade into a killer-app! To freely drop into the jungle and make your way to the fortress at your own pace (and meeting the Cobra bosses randomly) could work amazingly! Top that off with the GREAT story and characters.... :o MGSV+MGS3=MGS++
Having played all the MSG games, MSG Solid will always be my #1 and have a special place in my heart. Playing MSG2, I was disappointed in the story line and the old Switch a Roo with Raiden. When MSG3 was announced I was a bit hesitant and not as excited. But damn did I love MGS3. It's one my #1A and the game was a blast to play. Mechanics were great, the lore, story line, all of it.
06:42 The school I work at has calorie mate in the vending machine. Never knew why I was inexplicably drawn to it before watching this video and unlocking a core memory.
My favorite game of my favorite series. Hope if they do remake it, they make it larger as well. Would hate it to get the RE3 treatment and it's over in 3 hours. All those boss fights, especially The End and The Boss (which is my personnel favorite), The ladder when the music starts kicking in, just so epic.
I never played MGS3 before and almost bought the MGS3 stand-alone release on PSN Store. But what is holding me back is the upcoming MGS Delta: Snake Eater possibly releasing this year. From what I see the core gameplay is the same just redone in Unreal Engine 5. So with that being said, is it recommended that I hold off for MGS Delta, or not?
On ps2 I unlocked the invisibility cloak on the hardest difficulty by getting through the game with no alerts. I was always able to apply my imagination to this game while playing that made it fun everytime I played it which was many times.
Well, it was competing with other stealth action games, but back then every stealth action game was a copy of Metal Gear Solid so there was little competition. Furthermore, I don't think in the game industry there's much competition because buying a game doesn't prevent you from buying another game. There might be competition in terms of comparison, reviews etc but not in terms of marketing. Splinter Cell in particular wasn't a direct competitor because they were games released for different consoles and back then it wasn't normal to have different consoles unless you were a nerd adult or a very spoiled kid. 5:48 - I would add that there was also a fixed camera (in this video the footage is from newer versions where they included a modern free camera, but it wasn't the case in 2004) which made predicting enemy positions harder. 9:34 - This statement hurts so much when I think of what they did in MGSV. 10:54 - Now that Kojima doesn't work at Konami anymore I really hope they won't remake it!
In my younger years I always preferred 3 but as I've got older I now prefer 2. MGS3 did get me very interested in Cold War History. I love MGS MGS2 MGS3 and MGSVTPP. I'm not a fan of 4 that much or PW though
Personal take, But Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater is still my pick as the video game that most perfectly balanced masterful narrative storytelling with Incredible gameplay.

My introduction to MGS and amazing game. I remember watching the long trailer in a demo back then got hook right away.got the game the first day it come out. And honestly one of the few games I completed in the ps2.
They have to give us an remaster or a remake. It's too good of a game. If the current generation gamers played it it would take the internet by storm. It's literally a 10/10 game.
I didn't know what was going on within Metal Gear Solid 2 at the time, I never got a PS2 until 2002 and about a year later, I had to borrow Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty from an aquantant of mine. That same year, I learned that Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes was in development and I wanted a Gamecube to play that too and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Wish the actual Game Footage was 60 FPS.
MGS3 is the perfect balance between espionage and Kojima's weirdness. It's one of my favorite games of all times. Perfection.

Climbing the ladder with just the theme song playing is a perfect example of that weirdness. What a amazing game. 10/10.

I love snake eater such a great metal gear solid game and a excellent prequel to the metal gear series
I remember when they remade 2 and 3 and released them on the vita.. I miss that thing. Such a shame Sony forgot about it.
Have you gotten rid of it? I still have mine... And I got it two years ago.
Got it on PS3
Graphics will always age, play mechanics will always evolve, but with an outstanding narrative and characters, brilliant art direction, and just incredible attention to detail and a sense of style audio and visually, you have the recipe for a timeless classic.
I absolutely loved this game, I beat it on hard without the use of the radar, doing it that way makes it way more immersive and intense, I even beat the End naturally, with a tranquilizer no less!
I never used the radar period.
I hope in the remake, Snake shoots that guy while he's twirling his guns.
it's been almost 20 years and I still listen to the soundtrack of this game sometimes and remember all the feelings of being 18 years old and playing as big boss... that music was brilliant... having a big composer for the soundtrack in games wasn't the norm in the early 2000s. Between MGS and Final Fantasy X I got through my teenage emotions XD.
Check out 8-Bit Band awesome videogame cover of Snake Eater and many more, they have some very good Persona 5, Mario Kart and Chrono Trigger covers as well 😎👍🏾
Hands down my favorite Metal gear game! In my top 5 all time honestly
A remake of Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 3, & remastered Metal Gear Solid 4 on the PS5 would be awesome.
Mechanics were great, the lore, story line, all of it.
just played it and finished it days ago!!! going through all of them now 🙌
06:42 The school I work at has calorie mate in the vending machine.
In my opinion it's always been my favorite Metal Gear game. Quite possibly my favorite game of all time.
So excited that a remake is in the works right now
Whats really crazy is that even in this video when the R1 prompt appears on screen my right index finger twitches.
Kojima and only kojima must remaster this game, not remaking like re3
I never played MGS3 before and almost bought the MGS3 stand-alone release on PSN Store. But what is holding me back is the upcoming MGS Delta: Snake Eater possibly releasing this year. From what I see the core gameplay is the same just redone in Unreal Engine 5.
So with that being said, is it recommended that I hold off for MGS Delta, or not?
I've beaten alot of games over the years but beaten this 1 just felt great
Still am amazing game to this day and it is hallmark of why the series is so beloved!
Im trying so hard but the controls are so bad..just gonna wait for the remake
On ps2 I unlocked the invisibility cloak on the hardest difficulty by getting through the game with no alerts.
I was always able to apply my imagination to this game while playing that made it fun everytime I played it which was many times.
6 shots that thing only carries 6 shots. The Makarov carries 8
Is subsistence a snake eater too?
Yes love this game and I have it on my ps vita and still play it from time to time
Been thinking about metal gear a lot lately. Must be something in the air 🤷♂️
Well the franchise is going to turn 35 this year.
I cracked up when I saw ocelot outside during the ending
My favorite game ever made right by the side of re4. This game was revolutionary
Every Kojima game is my favorite game, you're pretty good!
2022 just beated 5. but working on fob..... but going back tomorrow will be a blast . cant wait
One of the greatest games ever made, and in my top 3 of all time.
Some of you just ain’t gonna understand why this game is probably the best game ever made next to Metal Gear Solid 2. I personally have this deep connection with the Metal Gear series. Just honestly the best damn games ever made.
Mgs2 is hands down one of my top 3 favorite games. I never got to play snake eater when it was new. I have it emulated just need to find some time now !!
My introduction to MGS and amazing game. I remember watching the long trailer in a demo back then got hook right away.got the game the first day it come out. And honestly one of the few games I completed in the ps2.
I beat this game like 14 times as a teenager.
My favorite game and movie. Still cry every time I watch a playthrough
This is my favorite game of all time !! And I been at it since Atari !!!
Never played this entry as couldn't afford at the time. Now with emulator on phone will definitely download.
HD collection needs AI upscaling and re-release on current gen
Still have a pic of my foxhound rank and platinum trophy, def a top 3 game of all time in my book: RIP THE BOSS ❤️
The ending was so amazing..one of the best ever made
They have to give us an remaster or a remake.
Best mgs game. One day they have to remake this
Nostalgia
I love watching videos of people revisiting the mgs series
Snake Eater is the best MGS game in my opinion. No remake needed!
I dream of a bossfight vs The End in a remake with modern gameplay, graphics and no loadings 👀
this game was as close to 10/10 as any game will get to
One of the Best games I've ever played. Truly a MASTERPIECE!
I'm always amazed of the MGS3 HD version. It's so beautiful looking today
Don't like the camera tbh prefer the original
