Snake....that was perfect!
Everyone's saying the timing is a coincidence when in reality Matty had this one waiting😂. As he should
Lmao yeah it’s been a badly kept secret
Iirc similar thing with silent hill 2. He played cause the silent hill transmission announcement and 2 remake was unveiled. Pretty sure if rumors of remakes or new games coming and he hasn’t played before he tries jumping in before the announcement truly made so he knows what expect of remakes and prolly helps him get ahead whatever UA-cam recommendations things works with for his views so honestly it’s prolly working out well for him and expanding his game knowledge and getting into fandoms.
Just got a little more video thought this was a first time played video of his, either way great timing and shows he stays on top things.
He kept us waiting huh
MGS3 is favourite in the series i'd put it in my all time top 10. The jungle setting was perfect for stealth, The survival mechanics made it way more immersive.
The Boss and the Cobra unit make for some of the coolest boss fights ever, I'm stoked to play it again.
The timing on this is impeccable lmao
This game is in my top 10 of all time. It's SO good, I don't trust Konami to not fuck up the remake, but they'll never takeaway from how near-perfect the original is.
MGS3 being the start of the timeline makes sense to me being a DMC fan...DMC3 did the same thing and it was awesome! Just got done watching the Playstation showcase for the remake, so perfect timing for the upload there, Matty!
Yup. I also got into both DMC and MGS around the same time, by playing the third games. Which is probably exactly what they were expecting comercially by releasing a prequel, so , it works!
When I first saw the reveal trailer for the new remake my immediate thought was okay this is cool but why are doing a snake eater remake first? I forgot this is technically the first timeline wise of the solid series so I guess it makes since to do this one rather than metal gear solid 1 and 2
Bro, this HAS to be a new record.
Mgs2 and mgs3 are not only the 2 best ps2 games but two of the greatest games ever made full stop.
Mgs2? Raiden is AWFUL
@@tier1solutions28 cappery of the highest order
@@chipdragonborn I hated the character
@@tier1solutions28 why
@@chipdragonborn just didn't like the character at all. Personal taste. go play again in 2023. The characters were soooo absurd
I always felt the clunky controls worked well with the stealth aspects of the game.
Holy shit Matt wasted no time dropping this
Really well thought out retrospect. I would like to add that in 2004, video games still had clunky controls (GTA:SA, Spinter Cell, Pandora Tomorrow, Battlefront 1), which some younger gamers may not understand how we managed to play these archaic games. MGS3 is still my top favorite game that I play to this day.
Devil may cry 1 was awful to play when I went back but at the time I had no issue lol
I had the same attitude towards death stranding as you have until a week ago when i finished director's cut. It's incredible, pacing can wonk a tiny bit at one point, but it's absolutely worth it
Conan being in it was 🧑🍳💋
I actually love how the dialogue is displayed in codec and the long monologues, it makes them feel important and pay attention.
MIND BLOWN AT THE END OF MGS2. ESPECIALLY HAVING REPLAYED IT YESTERYEAR. HAVING GROWN UP AND UNDERSTANDING MORE THINGS ABOUT SOCIETY, TECHNOLOGY, POLITICS, THE INTERNET. DEFINITELY AHEAD OF ITS TIME AND IT EERILY PREDICTS INTERNET CULTURE BACK IN 2001. WAY BEFORE SOCIAL MEDIA
Ohh the algorithm is gonna reward you big time.
Title: "Is Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater REALLY That Good?!"
Me: No, it is better!
Besides the og Resident Evil 4, this is the game I've played and beaten the most out every game ive ever owned. There were so many secrets and unlockables. Not to mention the online mode the ape escape mode. Also like you said the control scheme was a little clunky almost by design since the ps2 had the pressure sensitive button feature that the mgs games liked to use.
Yes, clunky by today's standards for sure, but in a lot of ways completely cutting edge back when it was released.
I like the antiquated design of the older MGS games. It's a part of the charm for me. Everything these days plays the same.
I personally enjoy Death Stranding, but you definitely need the right mentality when you're going into it. The story is strange and very interesting! The ending blew my mind!
I did too! That game was great! I think a lot of the issue comes with people expecting another mgs, or not letting the game establish its own expectations.
I love Death Stranding, but you’re right about going in with the right mentality. It’s a very unique game. It’s almost like a survival game, where you plan your route and check your equipment before every trip. Nothing else gives me quite the same feeling.
are you kidding me? It’s a masterpiece
Its not
The controls in MGS3 are janky-but if you truly master them and play this game on European Extreme there is no satisfaction like it. The fact that the game is difficult to control is part of the design in my opinion. If Snake were agile and ability to just pop off shots no problem, you wouldn’t feel outmatched and like every decision counts
my first time playing this was on the 3ds in the halfway house. my roommate’s thought i was watching a movie every night😂 it was a great experience after wanting to play it for years.
Well modders got you covered, there's a crough walking mod for the master collection on Nexus! ;)
I am the ONE person who preferred Sons of Liberty but still loved Snake Eater a close second.
Nah I prefer sons and mgs1. The emotion in those games was crazy as well as the plot 😂
matty 100% has a friend in the industry that leaked the remake announcement lol
You're absolutely spot on about the JRPG stuff, Metal Gear series is a Japanese game for the global audience.
One of my absolute all time favorites. I litterally modeled my own teenage personality after Naked Snake (I know I coulda done better) but my god was this game impactful.
Idk how a modern remake will go. if they opt to smooth out the controls the game will be far too easy but I don't want them to change the layout too much to add difficulty. I think it should be a mix of borth, get rid of the annoying tropes like no crouch walking and the aiming system but do not make snake as fast and versatile as the MGS5 version, that way it remains a slow-paced stealth game just but a bit more fun to play
I'm torn on this myself. It seems from the released screenshots that the maps will remain largely the same. So if they update the controls to more of a MGSV scheme, I could see the game becoming way too easy. But then again, I'd absolutely love to play through the world of MGS3 with intuitive controls. So hopefully they can alter the enemy AI so enemies are better matched to Snake's (potentially) augmented abilities. It's going to be a balancing act for sure, and I'm not extremely confident in Konami's ability to do it without Kojima.
@@ioncewasmikey Kojima is a great creator but in this case the creation is there. The amazing story, setup, themes etc... as far as technical game design goes I should hope that Konami can hire some top tier experts.
But MGS3 definitely deserves a remake. It's a masterpiece that new generation won't get to experience otherwise
@Curious Consultant Oh I would never argue that it doesn't need a remake, that's for sure. And you're right, the bones are already there, Kojima put them in place back on the PS2. But I feel like the super realistic graphics combined with the more or less archaic controls of the original could be quite a jarring experience. So if they start altering the gameplay while keeping maps, etc largely the same, the whole magic of the game could fall apart. Hopefully the company Konami has partnered with for this can manage to find that balance.
I have a feeling the game play itself will be largely augmented for these reasons. And after all, they're still planning on porting a remaster of the original to current Gen with the "Master Collection Volume 1," so what would be the point in releasing the exact same game maybe a year or 2 apart, just one has better graphics? I think that's the main thing that makes me believe they'll be fiddling with some things for Delta.
Well this was timed perfectly
Nice coincidence! Never played MGS before but about to dust off my Vita for this :)
not a coincidence
@@lloydirving6209 Sorry, my comment wasn't clear
I got interested in MGS again last week without knowing anything about the remake :D
Ew vita
Sir... you absolutely can crouch that's what the boxes are for
MGS 3 is the Rambo game we deserved. one of the best games ever.
2 was ahead of its time with the AI stuff, and 3 is my fav of the series. even today it’s very much playable and enjoyable - still a lot better than many games nowadays. only thing that bothers me is the controls, and maybe that some areas are really narrow due to technical limitations.
Hi man, would love to see you do another video on Bioshock 1. I have been replaying it and it is still so good!
It’s Pretty Good and it’s my Favorite VideoGame of All Time
Damn Matty had this locked and loaded!
That whole video could be a simple "YES"
I would say that the controls being “clunky” are more of a product of the time the game released because most shooters back then had some really bizarre control schemes. I love the MGS3 control scheme so I don’t really see it as odd but to each their own haha
Your timing was impeccable
Bruh what timing! I started playing MGS1 the first of this month and just finished MGS5 last night, now they announce 3 remake and Matty puts this out!
I remember in the online portion we would make the characters "dance" while aiming/shooting at other opponents so that our character's head was a moving target while in one place. This required holding R1 + L2 to aim while tapping R2 and L2 to shift to the sides while also tapping X to stand/crouch, and finally Square to fire. It was a steep learning curb but once master it was highly effective
This reminded me of the end of the boss fights in MGS4 when you point the camera at the Beautys and they start dancing. 😂
We got 3 discs for Subsistence over here in the UK. 3rd disc was called Exisistence and was MGS3 as a movie. All the cutscenes but without the gameplay.
For the remake they said there going to be using the OG characters . It is unsure if there going to re dub or there going to port the old line to the new game
Ok, but you should really try Death Stranding. The first Kojima game I played was Mgsv and I loved it but didn't finish it in the end, am currently playing mgs3 tho and I'm obsessed with it. But Death Stranding was a really deep game for me, everything you do feels so important and impactful. The people need your deliveries for survival, the world needs your work to rebuild and you see the impact through the playthrough, you see the roads build, you feel the impact other players have on your world and feel a connection with them. And it has a very tactical feel, you gotta plan out how many weapons will you take, you gotta figure out which orders will you take and to plan out the route. Idk Death Stranding is deffinitely one of my favorite games ever. Recommend
Matty, the mystic seer of the future
Yes it really is that good. I replayed it last year and it's still in my top 5 games of all time.
Great video as always Matty. Have to say though the cut scenes in MGS are a part of what make the games great. I love the the thought and attention to detail which go into those cut scenes, especially in MGS4
“I’m Solid Snake baby”
NO THAT IS NOT SOLID SNAKE
The remastered game has been out of online stores for a few years, now.
I bought it about 6 or 7 years ago on Xbox live, and I’m glad I did.
This music in the background is amazing. I need to add it to my playlist.
The first time I played the game was a couple of years ago and it has become one of my favorite games. I do have to say though, that the controls are a battle. I could not get used to them.
Dude know what his doing
The simple answer is "Yes".
It will make you salute boss at the end
Just popped in real quick to reply on the video title: Yes, it is.
Great day everybody!
Must be a vibe in the air. I just restarted mgsv and then they announced the mgs 3 remake.
WHAT A THRILL.
AND WHAT A TIMING.
I think MGS 2 is one of the greatest games of all time.. I think stylistically, aesthetically alone it's stands out more than MGS 3.. from playing as Snake to Raiden... the Brooklyn bridge intro on the ship... to then switching characters... I think the boss fights, the story, just about everything is 10x more iconic, and memorable. I loved MGS 3... but it was forgettable in comparison to MGS2. I can't wait for them to remake that.. Hopefully MGS 3 remake is a great start.
I still wish we got a Mgs game by kojima that takes place during ww2 where you play as the boss that would’ve been sick
Saw the Caption and without watching the Vid: YES, it is!!! Have a good day my metal gear friends
Crazy because i broke out the ps2 and replayed this and days later they announced the remake.
I played Snake Eater back on the PS3 Metal Gear HD collection with 2 and Peace Walker, an amazing compilation!
Yes, yes it is.
It’s a top 10 game of all time for me.
You can move your PS2/3 clock a week forward during the fight with The End, and a cutscene will play of him dying of old age.
Yes but I disagree with you on the gameplay. I feel that the first three games are perfection embodied as far as story and controls go. The only minor thing is controlling the second analog stick while shooting but it's so minor it may as well not be an issue. I DO agree with you on MGS2 being your favorite - absolutely mindblowing and also my favorite game. It was my favorite game of all time for a long time but I haven't played it in a while.
MGS3, Peace Walker, Ground Zeros, Phantom Pain, Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, MGS1, MGS2, MGS4.
I believe that is the story order.
Timing couldn't be any better great video
Irmão, a Guerra Fria é sobre União Soviética VS EUA. E não China VS EUA.
E MGS3 conta a história do Jack/Naked Snake se tornando Big Boss.
Abraço.
MGS3 only has clunky controls on non-DualShock2 controllers. The game was made for that controller and the HD rereleases could not make the controls fit without pressure sensitive face buttons. It's slightly smoother than MGS2 from a gameplay mechanics point
Sony was waiting on Matty to finish up his MGS video so they could announce the remake
codex stores contacts if you press down on dpad
Dude has mastered the algorithm
I don't know about junk control... I play like a rotten banana but I never felt frustrated with this game. Yes, there was a learning curve but it was in a way that the successes were so friggin rewarding. The difficulty was just perfect for me.
The FPS boost is actually a feature which Microsoft enables/adds to games, not the developer. It’s up to the publisher to approve that work, however.

Mgs3 SO GOOD! Ride or die mgs. Sorry, can’t get onboard with Marty’s take on mgs2. I remember being so hyped for the mgs sequel, as the ps1 classic is my #1 game of all time. The utter let down of playing as raiden (who was a big whiny sissy) for the whole game still burns me. Can’t get that feeling of when I was 16, playing SOL and continually telling myself, “it’s ok, we gotta be playing as snake soon….we gotta be…” :(
Impecable timing.
Short answer: yes
Long answer: OF FUCKIN COURSE!
About the controls- I don't think the devs were trying to make them deliberately difficult and obtuse.
The standard action game control scheme that basically every game regardless of genre or franchise has been using since the seventh gen hadn't solidified yet and many studios were still using and experimenting with their own unique control styles. They were trying to refine and build on the controls from MGS1 and 2.
Also, despite the more modern third person camera Subsistence added, at its core the control scheme is still built on the top down perspective that was a holdover from the first games from the late 80s.
I wish you mentioned the 3DS version of the game because there are new features that alleviate most complaints from this game
I love the 2nd one sons of liberty I think it called great game amazing storytelling
With this announcement of the remake and porting the originals to the PS5 I just hope they port MGS4 to PS5 cuz I was playing MGS4 last week and omg. Its hard to passing from 60fps to the 20fps.
I remember being like 12 or 13 and sleeping over at my nan's after I rented this game, completed it in 2 days and sat up in tears watching the final cutscenes
Bought this game at our local skate shop oddly. Best 29.99 i ever spent on a game
Omg I'm imagining this game without load screens... It would me something else really... Let's hope Konami doesn't screw this up
If I remember correctly there’s also a 3ds version of mgs3 cuz I remember playing the demo
It is that masterpiece thats a very simple answer
I will save you all 16 minutes and 53 seconds. The answer is Yes.
Dam... U fast AF, this just happened!?!
You got me excited to play these games
Imagine MGS Delta with TPP controls 🤯
You know, performance issues aside, I feel like MGS: 3D is the best way to play this game, at least until Delta releases. It’s the most graphically detailed (probably contributing to the poor performance), but aiming and shooting feels very modern, AND there’s crouch-walking. It’s pretty amazing. I wouldn’t have minded if a 60 FPS version of that game were the version of MGS3 we get in the Master Collection. If you disagree, you’re more than likely holding its performance on the 3DS against it, which makes you wrong by default. 🙂
all i can say is give death Stranding a trial run, youll know an hour in if its your thing, an hour to find a new gem? sounds like a steal to me.
Still waiting on a Jade Cocoon remake
My copy of Subsistence (Pal) has a much bigger and full colour manual. It even has character artwork etc.
Omg im so happy that mgs legacy has passed this dude approval
A well timed video with a well timed t-shirt.
Metal gear is my favorite game franchise of all time!!! And snake eater is my favorite instalment in the entire franchise. So, yes
Game play has already been upgraded on the PA3 version.
Yo Matty, have you ever heard of a little gem by Bandai Namco called God Eater?
That's the substance version, not Snake Eater. Snake Eater version had a colored manual book.
I really think they should just give mgs 1-4 the remake treatment then see where they can go from there
The timing is just crazy
The title if the video just made me laugh !!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
