MGS2 was a revelation back in 2001. It had the greatest graphics I’d ever seen at the time. Absolutely gorgeous game.
MGS2 is a revolutionary game that is still eerily ahead of its time in 2023. To think that The concept of memes, free will, and simulation theory were being discussed in 2001 still blows my mind.

100% agree with Jake. This game is the reason I am a gamer. MGS3 had such a great ethical and moral impact on my life, it made me come up for games every where. When people say "how can you game, it's for kids" I am like you do not understand what games can do for you in the positive.

Man I feel ya! I'm 42 and still game man! I grew up on Atari and NES in the late 80s!
I'm 47 and have never stopped from Atari to Alienware I've had pretty much everything. MGS is still my all time favorite gaming experience. And yeah, I just got over what others thought. I just say "hey, I'm at home, not spending money and my wife knows exactly where I am." She's a little possessive so she fully supports my stay at home hobby lol.
Man, mgs3 snake eater is probably my all time favorite game. I used to LOVE taking my time going thru every little detail i could to discover everything i could. This is probably the only game i could beat, then restart it again and go thru it multiple times back to back. Uses to love changing my outfits to camo myself and stuff like that. The game, for me personally, really was a "game" changer
I feel the exact same about the entire original trilogy. Absolutely incredible and well ahead of their time!!

It's weird the modern ports of ps2 games tend to be worse than the older ports of the same games from the 360 era.
Like the Jak and Daxter games. The ps3 ports had issues, but the ps4 ports are so much worse

I am a fan from day one. I played Metal Gear 1 and 2 on the MSX. I was 14 at the time, and now I'm 50. What Kojima and Konami managed to squeeze from an MSX with limited capabilities with their vision and creativity back then is phenomenal. I dare to say that it laid the foundation for the ongoing successes.

I'm more excited about the MGS3 remake than this...
I remember back in the day seeing commercials on TV about MGS1, and one day my dad had gotten it from a friend he worked with and was playing it one morning. He let me try it and since then I was hooked on MGS. Me and my cousin spent countless hours playing it over and over. Really was a defining moment for me as a gamer. I’ve since then have always been a MGS fan, and I’m eager to pick this up on my Switch to be able to play on the go. Thanks Jake and crew, appreciate what you guys do.

I'll never forget my first time playing MGS1 on the original PS1. It came in a 2 disk set, my friend Billy got it for his birthday and he couldn't beat it so he watched me play the whole game. His grandma would make us food while we played and it was an amazing experience. I'm somewhat excited for this release, but personally, I don't think it's a necessary purchase for me.
What else came on 2 disk back then? I remember the game starting out shooting men in a snow storm. Any idea?

Shit, Tekken 3 also came out in ‘98. For me it was a massive step up from Tekken 2. Might be my favorite fighting game ever.

I’m not sure if I’m just weird but I actually started with The Twin Snakes, I was kinda hoping that would make it into this collection. I loved the over-the-top matrix-esque cutscenes in that one.
Also, does anyone else remember the weird dream sequence with the cane sword guy in MGS3?
MGS1 Twin Snakes was my entry to Metal Gear too, it was epic, MGS1 with MGS2 graphics and gameplay
Twin snakes got a lot of undeserved hate and it deserves a lot more credit for how awesome it was!
The Guy Savage segment was an absolute fever dream the first time I encountered it.
It exists still in the HD collection as well as this port, when you are in the cell after being captured, call Para-medic and she will tell to Snake about Nosferatu, save the game and quit, when you reload your save you will begin playing the Guy Savage demo. Shame it never became a full fledged game itself.
I remember playing the PC demo for MGS so many times before I was able to finally pick the game up for the Playstation, and God, it was everything I wanted and more. And then MGS3 came out and I was IN LOVE. MGS4 took me some time to finally play because I didn't have a PS3 at the time, so I had to settle for the few times I went to a friend's house and THEY had a PS3. In the interim tho, I played through MGS2 finally and loved every second of that. Finally got a PS3 after I joined the Army, and was able to play MGS4 to completion an insane amount of times the way God (Kojima) intended, by not skipping a single cutscenes through any of my playthroughs. I cannot wait for MGS4 to drop on modern consoles, and in the meantime, I can't wait to play the collection. The only thing stopping me is that I don't want to support Konami, so I'm between a rock and a hard place. Might just be time to buy a PS3 and a PS2 and track down my HD Collection instead
I remember watching my brother play MGS1 as a child, remembering how blown away he was by it - at the time, I didn't understand because of how young I was. When I got a PS2 I got MGS2, it was the first game ever to genuinely freak me out (in a good way) how it almost spoke to the gamer. The twists and turns at the end of that game will be a memory I'll never forget and like Jake said, the reason I'm a gamer today.

I remember playing the demo of mgs 2 so much because it came with zone of enders. I remember that opening scene on the bridge and was blown away as a kid. The graphics at the time were absolutely stunning.
I remember how some people would buy ZoE, they'd take the MGS2 demo out and they would take ZoE back to the store for a refund. That's how hyped everyone was for MGS2 back then.
I rented ZoE a few times to play that demo.

I was around 7 years old when I first played MGS on ps1. 😅
Such a complex story for a 7 year old boy but Snakes voice still captivated my sponge-like mind so much so that I couldn’t put it down.
I fell in love with David Hayter as Solid Snake and I grew up with him as my hero, alongside with Link from OoT.
Even the music jingle before the Home Screen is so beautiful just thinking about it.

The MGS series was huge for me growing up. I played through all of them over the years multiple times. Still my favorite game series ever and I hope that we get some true updates for this series in the future. Until that time though, guess I’ll just go play this collection. Great vid.

MGS2 as a 12 year old was the first time I perceived videogames, maybe even art, not just as pure fun and aesthetics, but as something _important_ that was able to communicate something to you.
I think I was 14 when I first played it and to be honest, I did not "get" the ending. Oh, I understood the series of events happening, but a lot of what the Patriot AI was talking about really just went over my head. It wouldn't be until I was in college that I played it again (with the first HD collection) and boyyy my appreciation for the game grew immensely.

I feel you with MGS when it came out. I thought it was so cool, I beat it over and over again until I could record a playthrough onto a 4 hour VHS tape and show my friends who didn't own PS1's how cool it was. I did record my playthrough, but nobody really wanted to watch a video of someone playing a game at the time.

Ayo, the VCR was our "OBS" of the 90s haha. That was the only way we could carry around our game footage and show it off to friends.

I did the same thing as a kid with Jak and Daxter! Somewhere out in the world is an old space and science VHS that suddenly turns into Jak 3 gameplay half way through it lol.
I appreciate your love for the Metal Gear series. MGS3 was my childhood and has a very special place in my heart. I can't wait to play the other games and really get into it again.
I started with the 1998 Metal Gear Solid game, this is back on the original PS1. I was about 11 years old. Like you Jake, it was the game that really got me into gaming, excited to see what comes next!
Makes me happy to know MGS made you into a lifelong gamer as it did me. I remember getting a copy of MGS 2 in a pile of games as a young 8 year old kid. Any sane child would have reached for a sports game or shooter in that pile, but the rough 80s action sketch of Solid Snake holding a silenced pistol drew me in. The moment I put that disc into my dad's PS2 and the loading screen started playing music, I was hooked. That was easily one of the most impactful moments of my life as a gamer, and to this day only a few titles have ever made me feel that small and awestruck. MGS is by no means a perfect franchise, but it is my absolute favorite of all time, and the one closest to my heart.
Now we just need capcom to listen to us and give us Dino Crisis.

I actually discovered that game because Pizza Hut had some kind of promotion where if you ordered a specific pizza, you got a PS1 demo disc and it had the demo for metal gear solid part one as well as crash bandicoot. So Pizza Hut technically open my eyes to a whole new genre of gaming. 😂

I have never played the metal gear series despite hearing nothing but good things about it. Despite the issues, I am happy this collection exists, and that we may be getting more in the future.
MGS got me into gaming too. I played that game so many times. Also, the story was weird as hell, but I was obsessed with it. I could not get enough.
Info on the resolution for the PC version: If you edit the .exe file of MGS3 with a hex editor you can actually change certain values to boot the game in upscaled 1080p/4K - and it actually looks good, better than expected. Also, MGS2 and 3 do NOT work properly on Steam Deck as of now. If you plan on getting the collection on PC I would advise you to wait until the kinks are patched out.

I was the same way,lol. Metal Gear Solid (psone) is what really got me into gaming. It was just amazing. Love the fact you're a die hard fan too, im 37 yrs. old and can still remember how playing Mgs1 felt the first time i played it, then with the demo in zone of enders, hiw badly i couldnt wait to get my hands on Mgs2. Still my favorite christmas of all time (got game + official strategy guide that year) and man, i am so upset we are now out of the strategy guide days. I loved collecting the hardbacks...im ranting ...love your videos
My dad introduced me to the series by playing MGS2 in front of me when I was like 4 or 5 years old. It is my all time favorite game. I've played every metal gear since then except MG1&2, Snakes Revenge, and MGS3

love that jake finally gets a chance to gush about metal gear lol. i missed out on it as a kid but playing it as an adult makes me appreciate it on a whole nother level. might pick up vol 1+2 for the convenience of having everything together, just wish they put in more love n care into one of their biggest franchises 😞
I surprisingly started with Metal Gear acid 1 and 2, really enjoyed those and played portable ops right after. I didn't get into the main series though until Mgs4 Came out and that was my first one and Absolutely loved it to the point where I went back and played the rest. Great video!!!
Started going through the collection last night. Ran into two issues in MGS1. The cutscene before the main menu stops playing about halfway through. And I've had enemies completely disappear while choking them. Hope there aren't more bugs than that. It's still fun to revisit MGS1.
It's really easy to skip that prologue cutscene by accident, so easy infact that I've only ever seen that cutscenes 2 or 3 times out of the 20 times I've played that game, and I have to consciously make sure I don't even touch the controller and I carefully put it down to let it play out. It's kind of always been that way.
My brother got MGS3 I would say around 2006. It took me a while to understand the controls but once I did it was such a blast to play! The camo system and hunting for animals to give you your necessities and the field medic system to heal you was totally different from the usual pick up health box or use potions to instantly heal. And the story was captivating! Crazy antics, memorable villains, was a big fan of Ocelot. For now, I'll probably emulate them. Or get it when it's dirt cheap
It's a shame they didn't go all out to compile more stuff for this. The Document of Metal Gear Solid 2, the Making Of DVD that was there at MGS2's launch, etc. It's old stuff but it would be nice to see that all consolidated under one product.
I believe the extra disc for the making of MGS2 was only for uk, european country, i still have my copy of this version.
US has gottem it too as a seperate disc, it's much rarer
Thank you for this insightful video. First metal gear solid I played from start to finish was 3 when I was 10 years old. I played through it SO many times, it’s still one of my favorites to this day. Rewind about 6 years and my dad loved playing the first one. I would watch him and play with his mcfarlane toys MGS action figures and imagine being a stealth god haha! I begged my parents to get me the ps2 online attachment so I could play the first MGO. That was my first online game ever. Of course I picked up MGS4 the day it dropped.. I didn’t think I could love MGS any more than I already did but the quality of life improvements in gameplay just really pushed it to be the best series I had ever played to this day.
I got pretty heavy into MGO2 back then. Was in the GoldKingz clan for a bit, not to toot my own horn. I just recently discovered SAVEMGO and couldn’t recommend that more to anyone who is looking for a unique online shooter or has the nostalgia of playing it back in the day!
Was in awe when MGS came out. I was 14 years old. Amazing then. Amazing when played on my android box a while ago. Gonna be amazing when I play the trilogy on my ps5. I still have all 3 original games in their cases 😀
I started with metal gear solid back in 98. I started with the demo disc I got with my PS1. I played that demo over and over until I got the full game then I was able to fully play and beat it. It's the first game I've ever fully beat and it will always have a place in my heart I will definitely be buying this collection.

Metal Gear Solid definitely was the game that got me into video games. I originally played it on the original playstation but a few years after it was released, probably between 2000-2002. It absolutely blew my mind with it's cinematic cut scenes, stealth gameplay (which is still unmatched to this day), and story telling which as was said in the video, was the perfect balance of being a bit goofy, while also being quite poignant and asking some really important relevant questions that continued to become even more important as time went on.

Back in the day, I heard of Metal Gear Solid. Got to try it, but didn't really play it. Many years later I got to play MGS4 on the PS3 at a friend's house. This really impressed me. Since I only had a PS2 at the time, I got MGS3 and played that. So that was my actual real first MGS title. Later played a lot of MGS4 on PS3 and then a while later played a bit of MGS1, but unfortunately lost track and never completed it. Ever since, I never had the drive to go back to MGS, which is probably a shame.
Metal Gear Solid 1 is my favorite game of all time. Loved the fight with Metal Gear Rex and the conspiracies. Grey Fox and Sniper Wolf such amazing characters.

I remember getting into Metal Gear Solid from a Pizza Hut Demo Disc. It had the intro where you first sneak into the compound. I was hooked immediately. The game looked amazing for the time.
MGS released on the OG PlayStation was my intro to the series and Video Games and really took it to the next level for me. I loved every game since then

I started on Twin Snakes back on the GameCube.. honestly would’ve been a nice addition to see in the different versions of MGS1. Peacewalker would’ve been great to have as well. I’m thankful for the nod but, as you stated, there’s just a lot Konami could’ve done better with this one, dragging out 2 releases has me bummed as well but as long as they don’t try to lump Survive in with Vol 2 of the “Master Collection” I think I’ll be happy.

Nothing tops going to school the day after the opening of MGS1 was on the OPM demo disk. Every single kid was talking about it, and that was the start of the games industry for me. Fast forward a few years, and we were all buying Zone of the Enders for the MGS2 demo! Amazing memories.

When I was a kid I played Ocarina of Time and Metal Gear Solid pretty much back to back and opened my eyes to what video games could actually be.
My first real experience was MSG: Twin Snakes on GameCube, back in 2007/2008. Then right after that I bought the MGS4 PS3 bundle. MGS4 was my world for that entire year! I loved the handy cam type footage that was in that game. Then Cloverfield came out and Wall e. That was really my favorite year looking back.
I can still remember playing the demo disc of MGS1 when I was younger. I also had Snake's Revenge on NES even though I didn't quite know what it was about.
That art style of MGS 1 still holds up and would work well today as a new wave of Indy “retro” graphics.
I’ve been so hyped to play through these again. Kinda glad they’ve not changed much.
I was 11 when the first one came out and I started with the demo disc that came with the Playstation 1. I beat that demo probably 800 times before getting the actual game. I loved it. I'm ALSO one of the rare birds that loved MGS2, I played the Snake section on the boat a million times and unlocked all the little extras you could, and I liked Raiden form the get go. I'll admit, I didn't play much of 3 or the newer ones, taking it out of hallways I think was a little hard for me as a kid. I might play it through now that it's out now.
This will be my first playthrough of these games, I’ve gotten to psycho mantis and it’s crazy how many times a game from 20 years ago can blow my mind

The 1st MGS on the PS1 was the first game i had ever fully completed and man what an experience it was
Will never forget when I was at my cousin's house and he had one of those sample pack Discs with like 5-6 games that you could play for about 20 min worth or 1 level worth...and this game was on it and you could play the first level and then it would end once you took the elevator up. We must have played that level 20 times...I couldn't get enough of that game...then years later, I played the full game. Love this game!
Just purchased this yesterday and I’m just happy that I can play them all on my PS5. Really looking forward to individual remakes like delta and hope that MGS1 and 2, get proper remakes in the future as well.

I'm like you, Jake. Metal Gear Solid is one of the games that really defined gaming for me when I was growing up. I was really excited for this collection, mostly because I'd love to replay MGS1. I might have to buy it, despite its flaws.

As someone who never played Metal Gear games before this collection came out, I can answer your question about what this game feels like to an outsider. For context, I played on Switch.
MGS1 felt like it was a top-down game trying to be a 3D game. This makes a bit of sense given the era it was released in. Lots of frustration due to the camera angles being all over the place. Also a small amount of frustration from a few unexplained game mechanics, and the occasional cryptic instruction or deliberately hidden hazard. I didn't pay much attention to the story, which I now regret having finished MGS1-3 since there were some pretty amazing characters introduced.
MGS2 was a massive improvement. I liked the optional item menu categorization system, and the camera issues I had in MGS1 were gone. It felt less like a top-down game and more like a 3D game because of this. This made gameplay much more intuitive since it's closer to what I'm used to. The final bosses were so much fun I kept a save from just before them so I can go back and replay them whenever I want. I did get lost a few times, but that was mostly because I wasn't paying enough attention to where I was and where I needed to go.
MGS3 was fantastic. The story was captivating, the new mechanics were fun but not overbearing, and it was finally a true 3D game with (mostly) modern 3D controls. I was now used to the "unique" weapon select and firing methods, so that wasn't an issue. I did have some trouble figuring out the new CQC mechanics, but I figured out everything that was necessary. I'm definitely going to replay this game some day, which is a compliment I don't give many games that have a definite end.
I really hope they get the Vol 2 collection to run on Switch. I'm hoping for everything left up until The Phanotom Pain. I'm a bit of a Nintendo fanboy, though I admit the Switch is underpowered and will probably only be able to run the PS3 versions of these games.

I am so torn! I love the mgs series it was such a huge part of my childhood. Playing MGS1 with my dad all in one sitting because we didn’t have a memory card yet, is such a core memory for me. I would happily pay for know full well that my nostalgia is being exploited and that I am part of the problem. Lol

On what platform would you get it? I'd advise you to not buy the PC version at the moment because the state of it is kinda abysmal. It seems fine on any console though. They seem to have released a faulty version on PC that boots up the game in 720p resolution and you have to manually hex edit the .exe file so it boots up in 1080p. It looks even worse than the PS3 version right now. After the 1080p edit it looks pretty nice though. Hope they'll fix it soon.

I'm in my early 40's, which means I'm old as hell and fell in love with the early 3d mgs's. I never got into the 8 or 16 but ones. Metal gear solid was my first. Didn't ever have a chance to play 2. Was VERY into 3. Played tidbits of 4. Absolutely loved ground zeros and phantom pain. Never played any of the portables. I finally downloaded mgs3 tonight and found the controls very frustrating. My son and I were passing the controller back and forth. In the clips I saw of mgs3, you're moving around and shooting with a lot more ease than we experienced. I know we just need to keep at it. And the controls will begin to feel more natural.
I was introduced to Metal Gear Solid through V and loved it. It was my intention to play the originals at some point but never got the motivation to dig out old consoles. I’ll likely try this when it’s discounted later on as let’s be honest, it’s expensive for such old games that are simply ports and I’m not even sure I’ll enjoy it.

Metal Gear Solid is my favorite game franchise ever. It was mind blowing back then, so if never heard of it give it a shot. Hopefully you’ll love it.
I remember seeing the commercial back in the late 90s for Metal Gear Solid and thinking how cool it looked. My problem was I never played the first couple of games on NES. So I wondered if it was a game I should jump into. Rainbow Six had come out around the same time and that was a game that looked really interesting to me as well. None of my friends were playing either game yet and the only magazine I was subbed to at the time was Nintendo Power. So I grabbed my hard earned cash that I had scrounged together from odd jobs and headed for Circuit City. They had both games and they happened to be side by side on the rack. I had no idea which one to pick. I looked on the back of the CD cases to check them out. The sales rep watching me, this punk 17 year old kid trying to make a decision. Finally after a few minutes of waffling I chose Metal Gear Solid and brought it home that evening. One of the best decisions I ever made in life.
I'm not the hugest MGS fan, only ever played III:Subsistence(albeit, several times), but I do have several game encyclopedias, so i'm LOVING all that extra info included with the bundle.
Possibly unpopular opinion here, but I was REALLY hoping that this collection would have had the Twin Snakes version of MGS1, but like you said, it's better than nothing at this point. I'm still crossing my fingers for Volume 2 to have MG Rising Revengeance though. Also, I personally started with the original MSG1. Much love for this series.

I used to think this too but after playing the twin snakes emulated, the remake didn't work out. The boss fights and areas were obviously not designed with first person shooting in mind. The cutscenes often diverge from the original in extreme ways, i.e. snake threatening to shoot otacon as a joke in TTS but not in 1. Many easter eggs are not present in TTS that are present in mgs1.
Revengeance probably won't come since it's a massive game that feels separated from the franchise I think. Like how if a supposed Shin Megami Tensei master collection were to appear, you wouldn't expect the Persona games to be there since despite being spinoffs they're so distinct from their parent games that they're basically almost completely separate.
They'd probably have to scrub the Mario and Nintendo references from Twin Snakes before ever releasing it on something other than Nintendo hardware.

It's amazing to hear from a fellow true Metal Gear Fan. The original Metal Gear was one of my first owned NES titles. When Metal Gear Solid came out, it changed the way that I saw game development forever, eventually inspiring me to become a game developer myself. My first AAA game studio job was at Kojima Productions. It was a dream come true and the man himself is as advertised. Passionate, playful and constantly unbelievably down to earth. Best boss ever.
SnakeEater is a top 5 of all time game for me. I adore that game. I did a no kills run and a no alerts/spotted run. Solid (especially the GameCube remake) and Sons of Liberty are great, and I beat them both several times. But 3 is a masterpiece for me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Metal Gear Solid 1 was never included in the HD Collection, but rather on the Legacy Collection. I know that because I own the HD Collection for PS3 but have never owned or played MGS1 on it, and the promotional material for the Legacy Collection heavily showcased Solid Snake's design of MGS1.

Loved this video, Jake! I know the "Part 1" suggests that there will be a "Part 2" some time in the future... But knowing Konami, it wouldn't surprise me if it was quietly swept under the rug... I would be shocked (pleasantly) if MGS4 was included in any follow up!
If this v1 fails it will be left...if it soars it is unlikely they would skip it....they also can't be so stupid as to not know that if they sold mgs4....with nothing added and the long loads still in it....people would stull pay 100 dollars to have access (not as many as would buy a v2...but enough....yes, I'm one of those nutters)

They should have included the updated visuals and gameplay from Twin Snakes, at least as an option. There's no reason for Konami to not put in the smallest bit of effort doing this considering the fact that HD texture packs for Twins Snakes have been available on dolphin for years, which shows how good MGS1 could look.

100% Metal Gear Solid (1) was my first true experience with gaming when I was 7. I was a nanomachine-fiend ever since. I have this franchise to thank for developing my love for cinema and video games at such an early age.

An integral part of my childhood and early teenage years. I played 1 with my dad and 3 got me through some sad times when he passed away. This series made me fall in love with gaming. The MGS3 theme is iconic.
It was a VR part of my teenage years.
Started this series with MGS on PSOne. Loved it so much I played it over and over. I was 11 when it came out and I went on a school trip to a campsite with a climbing wall. I copied Snakes jumping down the wall after the Hind D fight and felt like a bad ass. I stayed with the series up to 3, played Portable Ops on PSP then didn’t try Ac!d or Peace Walker and jumped back in for MGS 4 and eventually Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain.
This collection was a must but for me but I have yet to play as I am making my way through Spider-Man 2 at the moment. But it is next on the list!

I honestly played MGS2 as a kid, maybe 8 or 9. And I just remember how cool and epic action, Escape from NY, ninja stealth it was. From playing as Jack/Raiden at the beginning to fighting the President on top of a Metal Gear with just CQC!! I'm amazed by how complex this stuff was for a person not even in the teens.
My first game in the series I playes was MGSV and it was really good, but when I played MGS3 for the first time I played for 2 hours and then decided to come back to it on another day. The next time I played I was so invested in the story that I didn't stop playing until 4 in the morning, 2 hours after I realized in had a shift at 6am. No other game has ever made me feel more invested that I needed to know what happened and would not stop until I was finished. It's one of the best games I've ever played and I seriously hope Konami starts putting the care into these re-releases that they deserve.
I started with 98 Metal Gear Solid. That game was wayyyyy ahead of its time. It does things that even games today don’t do.
On the Nintendo Switch ports, my theory as to why the games are locked to 30fps is based on them being ports of the Bluepoint PS3 remasters. Since the GPU performance of the Switch is variable depending on whether it is running handheld or docked, to get it to run at 60 for either or both probably would have taken extra optimisation that Konami was unwilling to provide. Then again we also have the Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition Switch port running 1080p/60fps docked, so who can say just how hard it would have been to get the MGS Collection to do the same (although my money says it wouldn't have been very hard).
As someone who has only known about MGS through Snake’s inclusion in Smash Bros Brawl, I’ve always been intrigued by the series but never got to play them because 1. I was mostly a Nintendo kid and 2. I was respectively 0 when 2 came out, and 1 when 3 came out, so I wasn’t necessarily old enough for them yet 😅. Given that from your perspective the collection is good for newcomers, I most definitely will be checking the collection out in the future. Thanks for the pros, cons, and some personal opinion!

Metal Gear, the original on the MSX my first game i bought for myself , since that MGS has a special place in my heart, i played all of them with so much joy
Was always going to wait for a sale. I still have the HD collection, my original MGS and my PS3 so I'm good either way. Great video as always guys 👍🏻
So, my context for these games is this : never played mgs1, played a second hand version of mgs2 on the ps2 that glitched and couldn’t progress after a certain point, and played a demo for mgs3 on Nintendo DS like a million times cause it was the coolest stealth game I’d played while understanding how dope stealth is. So this collection is pretty appealing, even with its flaws. However, can’t justify the price. It’s better than a full £60 , but budget is tight right now so this is another game I’m just gonna have to wait for a sale on

@gameranx, the PAL version of MGS 1 runs at 25fps (not 30fps as you said) because of the 50hz tvs back in the days. 30 fps (not stable) are the ones of the NTSC version which was working with 60hz tvs.
That 8 bits game included was not snake's revenge (which is a NES game made by Konami America). The one included and which you shown in the video is Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, which is an MSX2 game made by Kogima in response to the incredibly terrible "Snake's revenge" Konami America made for the NES, and as an owner of an MSX2 since the 80's I can assure you it is a master piece. Many of the elements of that MSX2 game were ported and remade into the PS1 sequel: Metal Gear Solid, which is kind of a remake of the MSX2 game, actually, but just set a few years later.
Totally worth playing. One of the best 8 bits games ever made.
