  • In this video I got to compare my standard disk setup against these new perforated Brembo's, just to make sure they are worth the "Xtra" money you'll have to spend on those. Let me know if you as well have experience with this set of disks or wether you would recommend any other performance brakes. Cheers.

    My first brake job was on my Alfa 156 SW - they told me then, not to do emergency braking for at least 500 Km - but to brake in the rotors and pads on a steep downhill road with multiple slow-downs. Rotors and pads were Ate, and they did do a good job after the "treatment"!

    Reminds me the time I changed my pads...the pins holding the pads to the calipers were a royal pain in the butt to get out...so I cut them and got them replaced....changed the pads from Brembo(very dusty) to Ferodo.Nice content btw .

      Thank you for that information. I have a USA 500 Abarth with what I think are either 281mm or 284mm discs and I desperately want upgraded calipers that will fit with the stock disc diameter. All brake brake upgrades I have seen in USA involve going to a larger disc which I want to avoid.

    Hello, i purchased a set of Brembo Xtra rotors for my giulietta and Brembo Xtra pads. What is the correct procedure of bedding them in?
    Some say I should drive normal and use low-medium pressure to brakes for 200 miles, others say i need to do 10 progresive brakes from 60 to 10mph as soon as i installed them.
    I don t know which one is the right way.
    What do you recommend?
    Thanks

    • @itsaboutcarsyt
      @itsaboutcarsyt  3 роки тому

      Hey there. So I usually go for the first recommended procedure, defensive driving and avoiding any high pressure resulting in a lot of heat. However I am not an expert and the other method is something I never heard before but could make sense as well.
      If you want to be extra sure call Brembo customer service and tell us in the comments 😅

    I was looking at Brembo Xtra discs for my Audi S5, but comparing prices with other performance discs like EBC, MTEC, Kinetix etc, they are more expensive, and thought Brembo was a premium brand, so expected the prices, BUT looking at the discs in your video the cross drilling (perforations) haven't been done correctly and a lot of them are into the vanes/vents so a closed hole. When correctly drilled, they should be in between the vanes so the hole is open on the otherside! This has put me off these discs! I only wanted the holes for aesthetics/looks, but this looks more like a budget cross drilled disc and not correctly designed! Half of the holes are more like dimples like the EBC grooved and dimpled, not proper drilled discs in my opinion. I would save the extra money from the XTRA disc, get OE discs and put the saved money towards performance pads. There will be more benefit.

    • @itsaboutcarsyt
      @itsaboutcarsyt  3 роки тому

      Very good comment, thanks. I was thinking about ebc or tarox as well, because on my last Nürburgring Video, the brembos started to fade very early. Of course that has to do with stock brake lines and non racing brake fluid as well, but the xtras are clearly not designed for track.

    • @davewilliams7565
      @davewilliams7565 3 роки тому

      @@itsaboutcarsyt Brake lines like stainless steel braided lines are for pedal feel and won't prevent fade or improve performance. A good brand of brake fluid is all you need and change it after heavy track use as the heat degrades the fluid. If the fluid is old, then it will give fade or a spongey pedal at a lower temperature. I used to do a lot of trackdays I had a big brake 2 piece cross drilled kit, but after a trackday, I got cracks around the holes and the disc actually split on an outer hole. So be careful using drilled discs on track. Small cars like the Mito will be better because of the weight of the car with drilled, but still can be affected by cracking. Don't worry though, the disc won't fail, but may need replacing. I would recommend EBC USR discs and Yellowstuff pads or Ferrodo DS2500 if you take your daily driver on the Ring. It's mainly all about the pads than fancy designed discs :)

    • @itsaboutcarsyt
      @itsaboutcarsyt  3 роки тому

      @@davewilliams7565 yeah I heard that pads must be more important than the disc itself. I will consider the fact that the fluid may have a larger impact on performance than the steel lines alone. Interestingly everybody I talk to has a very different opinion on these things. So I guess all I can do is try it for myself. Guess what we all need is a straight forward which-upgrade-does-exactly-what-on-track video series haha

    • @squadmeta
      @squadmeta 3 роки тому +3

      @@itsaboutcarsyt The pads are far more important than the discs. As for the comment on the drilling not being done correctly, it's intentional, they are dimples not full drill holes. Brembo did it for strength as drilled discs always have stress cracks, and it's important to note the minimum thickness on the drilled version is slightly more than the grooved version which has the same minimum spec as a standard disc. For pads look at Ferodo DS2500 or something similar, much higher temp range.

      do you mean that after several braking sets you've got brake vibration? if no vibration and just brake fading - then the problem in breake pads not in disks, breake pads can't work in such temp - you must try something like EBC YellowStuff, DBA eXtreme Perfomance or Hawk HP Plus @@itsaboutcarsyt
