I agree with Mike D. I have shown many Amateures missed prizes due to not checking both the main piece and what is in the hand. It would be worth just mentioning, that after finishing, You rechecked the hole and ALL discarded dirt. I had some Amateures NOT recheck their hole after finding a quarter to find a silver dime and penny as well. Just because ONE item is found means that the hole and anything dug should be rechecked with NO discrimination since you went through all the work in the first place. THIS is an awesome video and well done.

He doesn't seem to pay much attention to the accuracy of the detector. I kept saying to myself, "It's to the right there, Charlie! Over to the right!" He kept scooping from the middle of the pile until he found it…to the right. :) I've been doing this for years since I had an accident plus I'm getting a little older and can't do much climbing around on active volcanoes anymore. My main job is network engineering but my doctorate is in geophysics. I hire myself out to mining companies a bit to show them where to dig and I love every minute of that. My eyeballs and metal detectors are my spice of life. :) One of my bucket list items is to come to Oz and have a go at that. I'll do it one of these days. I hope you guys keep on and best of luck and happy hunting!
G'day ut000bs, Thanks for watching our videos and your comments. Charlie, may not be the best detector operator there is but he sure finds an hell of a lot of gold! Plus he's a real gentleman and has a story for every occasion. Look forward to seeing you in OZ one day. Over the past couple of months we've had lot's of of clients come form overseas to join us for one or a few days of detecting in the wonderful Australian bush. Cheers, Mark GPA
Been watching alot of gold detecting videos over the years, and im always amazed at what people pull out of the ground in Australia.. It must be so packed with gold over there in certain places.
Guys I saw you several times dump a little dirt in your left hand but you did not wave your left hand over the detector . There could of been 2 pieces of gold and you dumped one in your left hand then tossed it . Always wave the dirt over the detector that you are about to discard . You may have thrown some gold away and not know it .
great job charlie congrats mate. you should check both hands when you have a hole that's producing multiple targets and check all of the dirt surrounding the hole when done and then pan all of the loose dirt as well. hey charlie maybe you found some ancient prospectors stash. very unusual to find so many in one hole.
So much native gold in Australia. Charlie got a 7 ounce nugget earlier? Amazing. Seriously 1 oz a gold in one day! Makes you want to move to Aussieland.Though I'm afraid of snakes so that might not work.
Mox_au The dirt Charlie throws away from his hand has already been checked for gold targets. When he finishes digging he spreads the remaining dirt and checks it all again. There will always be some smaller gold targets that you won't be able to detect. Samples of this dirt will be panned for the finer gold when we arrive for our 2015 season. Water is a problem out here on the edge of the Tanami Desert during the detecting season(May-Aug). During the Wet season, you just can't move anywhere, too much water!!! We have used a Dry Blower with some success on our leases in the past. I hope this answer's a few of the questions that have been asked. Thank you for making your comments and watching our videos. Gold Prospecting Australia Videos I get that it is checked after, but I also observed what the lad above mentioned. What if by chance, there is two pieces together. You tip half in your hand, and test the strainer. That beeps. He then throws whats in his hand away. Would it not be peace of mind to quickly test what is in his hand to check before discarding to the side? Do you often find much on your second scan on completion? Well done on your find. You certainly go to the ends of the earth (Ozzy civilization ) to find the gold. Well deserved.
All the gold that has ever been found would fit in a cube that measures 67' a side. Of all the ways to extract that gold from the Earth, detector prospecting is the kindest to the environment.
Looks to me,judging by the ragged nature of the gold, that you've found a small reef,in which case there should be more gold somewhere close by in that same general vein of gold. This could mean either deeper down in the vein or somewhere to the right or left following the vein along. Love the idea of using the strainer,Hard to find a totally nonmetallic one though. Thanks for sharing your experience.Cheers,Trev. .

Congrats, Charlie! I'm curious as to why you're dumping the material in your hand without checking it, tho. With the amount of nuggets in that patch, you very well may have a nugget in the strainer as well as another in your hand! I'm sure you went back over everything again (at least I hope you did). Either way, nice work!
Hello, I'm from Argentina, I'm consulting you, from which part is Australia the video? Do you look anywhere? Is there as much gold as the videos show? Thank you
G'day Eduardo, This Video of Charlie was taken in Western Australia in the Kimberly area off the Tanami desert road near Halls Creek. This hole produced 32 pieces from memory, not a common find, quite rare in fact. Gold can be found in every state of Australia, in the gold fields regions. Our videos show a range of our clients finding gold on our Tours and Training days throughout Australia, each video is as you see it, none are set up. Thanks for watching Mark GPA

Charlie you are living my dream mate .That is bloody awesome . I just subbed your channel mate. I am happy to swap you 2 weeks metal detecting in Austria for a fortrnight with you is Aussie .Geoff
He's found a dropped or buried gold sack. I have found two in my life. one was about 12 pieces on top of the ground and smaller fines. The other was just a few pieces around five to fifteen grams. Nice1
G'day Russell, I'm pretty certain it's not a dropped or buried gold sack. I was with Charlie when he found all these pieces, from my knowledge and experience it was what I'd call a little decomposing reef, the gold started in the first few inches and was found all the way down to around 2 feet/60 cm. The pieces were scattered throughout the dirt and certainly took some digging. Thanks for your comments and well done on your couple of lucky finds. @@GoldProspectingAustraliaVideos Gotcha. Yep I've found a few of those leaders to. They are fun until they pinch off. lol One I got in NQ was discovered by two kilos lying on and in a cattle trail. It led up to a small leader only 1/4 inch across. One peice graded from full gold to 50/50 at the other end, weigning 40oz. I'm an old timer (30 years detecting) retired now. It's good to see I left some for you guys. My last detector was a Barry Johnson modded SD2000. I loved your vid. brought it all back... looks like Halls Creek. Tell that guy to tip his detector up the other way and stick the front in to locate the bits.
+Blake Garvey most places you need a permit in canada its pretty cheap and it gives you the right to pan but like i always say has long has you dont get caught hehehe
+Ray RayRay G'day Ray and Blake, We are very lucky here in Australia, much of our land is available to prospect with just what we call a Miner's Right which can vary in price from but around 20 to 30 Dollars Au. In Victoria for example in the gold fields regions we are legally allowed to prospect over 60% of the land. In other states it varies. Where Charlie was detecting it was on our own private leases on our tour so that makes it easy for permission. Other areas are available with very little paper work or cost involved to get access. It can seem daunting when you look at it the first time but once you know what's going on it quite straight forward. Thank you for watching our videos. Cheers, Mark GPA
ok I get detecting for big chunks, but with that much laying around would not a dry washer get a lot more. all i can think of is the finer pieces that the detector cant pick up.
Madgoldnz, thank you for your comments. We did't pan any of the dirt from the hole. Didn't even think to do it. I always carry at least 2 pans with me where ever I go to! The dirt will be there next time we go back so I'll have a look then. Not much water up that way though.
G'day Grant, It's a fantastic hobby for all the family. Do your research about the gold fields closet to you. Google QLD gold fields and heaps of info will come up. We have lot's of people form all over Australia and overseas come and join us for our training days here in Victoria. It's a great way to learn how and where to use a detector for gold prospecting.(check out our web site for all this information) We use all the Australian designed Minelab detectors, but can train with any other type of detector as well. We have no affiliation with Minelab but their detectors are second to none when it comes to searching for gold. There are several prospecting clubs in QLD so perhaps have a look at these as well, you will have lot's of people with common interests. Good luck with it all and if we can help send us an email info@goldprospectingaustralia.com.au Thanks for watching our videos, Mark GPA
G'day Donald, there are restrictions as to where you can and can't Prospect/Detect in Australia. You need to Google the different areas you might be thinking about and find out what the restrictions are in those areas/states. Overall we are so very lucky here in Australia as to where we can detect!! Thanks for your comments and watching our Videos. Mark GPA
How do you suppose the gold gets to these spots in such flat land? This appears to be like many other flat areas in Australia where there hasn't been any water flowing, at least not since Noahs ark times.
+Jay Wagner G'day Jay, This area where Charlie found all this gold is gently sloping before it heads into some pretty major creek and then river systems, where the ground quickly becomes very deep ravines. The amount of water that has flowed over this area over the eons must be amazing. Each year we have been back it's like detecting a new area especially after some of the massive big wet seasons they get up that way. It never surprises me where we keep finding gold. Thank you for your comments and watching our videos. Cheers, Mark and Ronda GPA
This Minelab GPX 5000 will detect metal objects quite deep. The depth it will go depends on the size of the target and the the size of the search coil. Don't forget though this is a metal detector not a gold detector as such, it will detect anything metal. With a big target and a big coil you could dig down to over 3 feet. Thanks for watching our videos. Mark GPA
+Exzavery Michael Thank you for watching our videos and your comments. The detector Charlie is using is the fantastic Minelab GPX 5000 and is available from all Minelab detector dealers world wide. There are counterfeit versions so if you are thinking of buying one make certain it's from an authorized dealer whether new or secondhand. It's not easy to pick them apart!!! If you are considering a secondhand model make sure you ask for the serial number and where it was purchased from. You should then call Minelab and ask them if the number and place of purchase is legitimate. You can then feel confident you are buying the real thing and not being ripped off! If the price seems to good to be true it probably is. Cheers, Mark GPA
G'day Joseph, the price we get for the type of gold that Charlie has found would usually be spot price less 10 to 15%, if selling to a gold buyer as such. This sort of gold is referred to as scrap gold, nothing special about it really in regard to being collectors pieces. However if sold privately you could get more or if you had enough you could sell it to one of the refiners who pay spot price less a fee for assay. When your gold is assayed you will also get paid for whatever silver or copper etc is in it also at the spot price for the day. The gold in some areas in Queensland has quite a lot of both silver and copper mixed in so gold purity can be a low as 85%. Some of the nuggets found in these areas are very sort after because of their colour, and shapes. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the price you get is what they are willing to pay. Thank for watching our Videos, Mark GPA
it seems most of the people finding decent nuggets have minelab or something costing 1000$ is it even possible to find these with lower priced detectors around say 150$?
G'day Steve, it would be very doubtful to find most or any of the nuggets you see found on our videos, with a $150 detector. You get what you pay for I suppose. The big nugget found on one of our Western Australian tours a few years back could've been found with a $150 detector. It was 69 ounces or 2.13 Kg on top of the ground!! The cheapy little detectors can be a lot of fun at the beach or in a park with the kids, but not if you are looking for gold nuggets. Here in Australia, Minelab detectors are in my opinion the best choice.. Second to none. Designed in Australia to cope with our conditions(some of the harshest in the world re mineralisation/ground noise) The biggest issue I see with the cheaper detectors and some dearer ones even is they cannot cope with this mineralsiation we have in the ground in our gold fields. Thanks for watching our videos, Mark GPA
Just a quick question , i'm living Melbourne Which part of Australia, i'm wondering buying a metal detector for search near beach and river, is that need any license or any rule i need to know? cause walking around with the metal detector in public , speacial the beach will make you look like weirdo . I don't wanna any trouble from police though. Please let me know Cheers
G'day Kingsley Ly thank you for watching our Videos. If you are only searching for Coins and lost Jewelry etc on the beach and swimming holes in the rivers, you do not need a Miner's Right. However if you are looking for gold on the gold fields of Victoria you will need to purchase a Miner's Right which is available on line from Parks Victoria web site..Type in Victorian Miner's Right and you will find the links. The gold in the ground belongs to the Crown(government) a Miner's Right transfers the ownership of the gold from the Crown to you. If you plan to be detecting for gold make sure you look at the Parks Web site to see where you can and can't prospect for gold. We are very lucky in Victoria we have so much of the goldfields areas open to us, including some National and State Parks and Forests. Thanks for your comment. Mark GPA
Whats a ounce of gold worth these days ? I haven't got a clue since I left Perth 14 yrs ago , I used to keep up with the price from the perth Mint way back then LOL
This is intersting. I've Been watching a lot of these types of videos, I can't help but think the metal detecting company's are making these videos so youtubers who feel lucky go out and buy a $5-8000 USD detector... Still the idea of this happening excites me ⛏
G'day toddrileyx, thanks for your comments. I know you may think its a good advertising ploy, but we here at Gold Prospecting Australia GPA don't sell detectors or accessories or anything else. We just teach people how to use their detectors and give them the best Gold Prospecting Adventure they can have, and hopefully they get to find some of the yellow stuff as well, cheers, Mark GPA
G'day Kapitan, This question has been asked and answered many times. Have a look at some of the other comments and replies. Thank you for watching our videos.
G'day J.B.Smith, samples were taken and panned and unfortunately nothing worth getting excited about. Thanks for your comments and watching our videos, Mark GPA
Im just wondering why charlie is using the pick to pick the hole then he is pulling the soil with the gold out of the hole would it not be more sensible topick the soil and leave itin theholet then remove the soil a handful or a sifter at a time out of the hole that way their is a less of a chance of missing any gold Great find charlie i am shaky just watching you gold fever
G'day James, When looking for the targets, it's much easier to spread the dirt next to your hole. If you just take out one scoop at a time you may take out 10 scoops before the one with the gold. By putting it beside the hole and detecting it again it's much easier to pin point the gold targets or rubbish what ever the case may be. The quicker you can recover a target the quicker you move onto the next. Hope this explains the way Charlie is doing it. Thanks for watching GPA
G'day Paul, as far as we are concerned here in Australia there is only one brand of detector to use and that's the Minelab. If it's your first time detecting you couldn't go past the Minelab SDC 2300 it's the easiest and it's like having a vacuum cleaner, it can suck up gold anywhere on the gold fields. Thanks for watching our videos and your comments. Cheers, Mark GPA
Paul Johns, I had the same question a couple years ago and after extensive research I can tell you confidently that the Minelab GPX 5000 with the Nugget Finder Evolution 17X13-inch coil is one of the best detector-coil combinations for sub-gram and large gold nuggets. That's what I would buy or if I had double the money available I would get myself the Minelab GPZ 7000 which is probably the #1 nugget detector, but unfortunately way overpriced. Look them up and good luck!
Thanks for sharing a day in your detecting. Enjoyed watching this...Nice find

Good day! I want to know from you how you can come to you, where you are, what you need to come to you and what costs are needed? Thank you very much!
That much gold concentrated in that little spot suggests to me that there is most likely millions of dollars of gold in the immediate area.
Is it just me that finds this very satisfying to watch.

Thank you for watching our videos. Cheers, Mark GPA
yes Mike I thought that ,but you would recheck that after I guess.
ok I get detecting for big chunks, but with that much laying around would not a dry washer get a lot more. all i can think of is the finer pieces that the detector cant pick up.
Thx for video and hard work. ))))
How can we have a detector like this? Interesting at the same time its fun ;)
oh yeah, did you pan the dirt out of the hole?
Madgoldnz, thank you for your comments. We did't pan any of the dirt from the hole. Didn't even think to do it. I always carry at least 2 pans with me where ever I go to! The dirt will be there next time we go back so I'll have a look then. Not much water up that way though.
Go Charlie Go Go Go, Charlie is the Best.
hola amigo de que ciudad y pais es hecho este video muchas gracias
Seriously guys. My partner and I want to start doing this. We live on the Gold Coast. What do we need and where do we go.
Good luck with it all and if we can help send us an email info@goldprospectingaustralia.com.au
Thanks for watching our videos, Mark GPA
You can go anywhere you want in your country and prospecting??
G'day Donald, there are restrictions as to where you can and can't Prospect/Detect in Australia. You need to Google the different areas you might be thinking about and find out what the restrictions are in those areas/states. Overall we are so very lucky here in Australia as to where we can detect!! Thanks for your comments and watching our Videos.

Charlie, what type of metal detector do you use?
G'day Carlo, Charlie is using the Minelab GPX 5000. Undoubtedly the best detector available in the world for finding gold. Cheers,
Cheers, Mark and Ronda GPA
this machine how many deep in ground identifies the Gold ???
This Minelab GPX 5000 will detect metal objects quite deep. The depth it will go depends on the size of the target and the the size of the search coil. Don't forget though this is a metal detector not a gold detector as such, it will detect anything metal. With a big target and a big coil you could dig down to over 3 feet. Thanks for watching our videos. Mark GPA
very nice how can i get that detector?
Just curious but when you sell that gold what sort of price do you get compared to spot?
Please let me know
Cheers
Mark GPA
good example of using a pin pointer would make it a lot easier.
Whats a ounce of gold worth these days ? I haven't got a clue since I left Perth 14 yrs ago , I used to keep up with the price from the perth Mint way back then LOL
Dig it all! 🔊🔊🔊🔊🎧💰💰💰👍 Subscribing from Florida! 🌴🌴🏴☠️🌴🌴
how much is your gold detector?
what model of detector are you using?
G'day Andrea,
Charlie is using the Minelab GPX5000. No doubt the best detector in the world!!
Thanks for watching our Videos.
Mark GPA
what great luck getting so many pieces in a small area ~ wish it were me, ha, ha, ha,
Great!!!! Congrats
We just teach people how to use their detectors and give them the best Gold Prospecting Adventure they can have, and hopefully they get to find some of the yellow stuff as well, cheers,
Mark GPA
Man charlies a magician
keep up the good work mate
what if there's two gold, one on your hand and one on the strainer?
G'day Kapitan, This question has been asked and answered many times. Have a look at some of the other comments and replies. Thank you for watching our videos.
This is quite amazing
I love the videos
Did you drywash that spot after? Lowspot could have more fines than all those nuggets combined. Lol in theory. Cheers mate!
G'day J.B.Smith, samples were taken and panned and unfortunately nothing worth getting excited about. Thanks for your comments and watching our videos, Mark GPA
@@GoldProspectingAustraliaVideos thank you !😎👍
Que detector e esse? Muito bom ele.
Im just wondering why charlie is using the pick to pick the hole then he is pulling the soil with the gold out of the hole would it not be more sensible topick the soil and leave itin theholet then remove the soil a handful or a sifter at a time out of the hole that way their is a less of a chance of missing any gold
Great find charlie i am shaky just watching you gold fever
G'day James,
When looking for the targets, it's much easier to spread the dirt next to your hole.
I’m just starting out what is the best brand to buy to find gold
G'day Paul, as far as we are concerned here in Australia there is only one brand of detector to use and that's the Minelab. If it's your first time detecting you couldn't go past the Minelab SDC 2300 it's the easiest and it's like having a vacuum cleaner, it can suck up gold anywhere on the gold fields.
Thanks for watching our videos and your comments.
Cheers,

Gold Prospecting Australia Videos n thank you for replying back to me
Paul Johns, I had the same question a couple years ago and after extensive research I can tell you confidently that the Minelab GPX 5000 with the Nugget Finder Evolution 17X13-inch coil is one of the best detector-coil combinations for sub-gram and large gold nuggets. That's what I would buy or if I had double the money available I would get myself the Minelab GPZ 7000 which is probably the #1 nugget detector, but unfortunately way overpriced. Look them up and good luck!
Holy shit Charlie good hunting!
True adventurers...looks like fun!
Yes, real outback and great fun.
Thanks for watching,
Mark GPA
Good work
Thanks Solomon, great work if you can get it!! Some days are fantastic for gold others not as good, but any time out in the bush is a bonus. Mark GPA
Does not get any better then that, Gotta love the Glory Holes. Nice Job.
