- Welcome to Hollywood Graveyard. There’s a club out there whose membership boasts some of the biggest names in music, art, and entertainment. It’s known as the 27 Club. It consists of notable figures in the entertainment world who all died tragically young, at the age of 27. Join us today as we visit their final resting places.

I’m a sixty four year old senior citizen. This video brought back memories. I remember how freaked out everyone was about the deaths of Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and especially Janis Joplin. Since I was a fan of their music (and an impressionable kid) my parents had to lecture me about drug abuse after each tragedy. God Bless My Parents for keeping me grounded in reality instead of seduced by the tragic fantasy.

@Virginia and Violet Dreams ….. I am now 73 years old and distinctly remember the shock reverberations when Janis Joplin, Brian Jones and particularly Amy Winehouse died.
Tragic and preventable losses which must have devastated their respective families and friends.

I'm 48. My parents had this stuff playing all the time. But they actually talked about why they died, so I passed on that attitude to my boys...to my Iraqi hubby's shock. And girl, 64 is NOT a senior. You are young baby

I loved that you went to the effort of making a mention of Pamela, Jim Morrison’s partner. She was never famous in her own right but I can’t think of a more tragically ironic story
Eerie that she died at the age of 27, just like Jim. May all those memorialized in this video rest in peace.

My dad made guitars for Keith Richards back in the day. I was always fascinated with my dad’s history with music. He told me a story when I was a teen that he asked Kieth about Brian “what happened with jones?”
All Kieth said was “they killed him.” He left it at that

It was allegedly a guy doing construction on Brian’s home. He beat him up & left him to drown in the pool

Although I don't think he released or recorded any music, Benjamin Keough also died at 27. His grandfather was arguably the most famous singer in the world.
Yes, he is also part of the 27 Club. Famous grandfather, famous grandmother, famous mother (for her parents and her marriage to Michael Jackson anyway).

Here in the Philippines, we have a famous and well-known actor/matinee idol named Rico Yan who also died at the age of 27 due to acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis on March 2002 (Good Friday).
OMG! I wrote the comment above at the beginning of your video. And I'm shocked and goosebump when I saw Rico Yan's grave. I didn't expect it. Thank you, Arthur, for including him. He was such a nice and intelligent man. ♥️

I'm so glad you included Mia Zapata. Although all the deaths featured in this video were tragic, hers hit me particularly hard- not just because I was a fan of The Gits, but the circumstances of her murder. After her death, many in Seattle's music community, including Nirvana & Pearl Jam, came together in a benefit concert to raise funds to hire a private detective when the case went cold. Her death also led to a movement to empower women to learn self-defense in a program called Home Alive. When Joan Jett learned of her murder & that funds had run out for the private detective, donated money & went on tour with the remaining members of The Gits to raise more funds. Mia's murderer was convicted a decade later. He didn't even know who she was. He died in prison last year.
I did not know she was interred at Cave Hill. I am glad her murderer was caught and convicted.
Kurt didn’t actually die. The body was actually of a homeless man.
I'm so glad to know that there's someone out there who knows who she is and all the details around her death besides myself and my husband.

This might sound a little strange, but it always bothers me when I don't see any acknowledgment, no matter how small written on a headstone, if they were an actor, actress, singer, author, etc... And what really upsets me is when some people don't even have a head stone, just left totally empty. Forgotten as if they never existed.
Because they only care while they are alive and it benefits them. They don’t benefit them if they are dead

It’s been said that you don’t die until no one remembers you. All of these people deserve to be remembered. Thank you for allowing their lives to continue postmortem.

I saw Jim Morrison’s grave on my first trip to Paris in 1991. There were people just hanging out there, ALL day. They just literally sit at his grave. That was way before they put up that fence. I was really shocked 😳 when I saw that!!
I wish I could visit his grave as morbid as that might sound. I’ve been a Doors fan for roughly 50 years. My pops was a DJ on the side and brought me home albums all the time as a little kid. One was The Doors first album. He liked Light My Fire. Turned out I loved the whole album. So I ended up eventually getting all their albums then cassettes then CD’s. I even had one 8 track🤣. Being a mid 60’s baby it’s almost impossible not to be.

Once again a terrific program. As a lifelong "Deadhead" I appreciate you including Ron McKernan. He was a gifted musician with that bluesy voice. His background was "black" music as they called it. No slight intended. Ronnie's father was a DJ in San Francisco and played the so called black music. Ronnie was so influenced by the blues. Even knew some folks thanks to his Dad. There used to be a radio show called "Blues before Sunrise". Old blues. I could have seen Ronnie hosting a show like that in his later years while between tours of The Grateful Dead. I wasn't old enough to see Ronnie playin in the band. He was simply Just gifted. Really a shame. Thanks again.
I went to Anton Yelchin's Grave and saw his mother sprucing up the grave with fresh flowers . Apparently she visits often. Great edition Arthur !!!!

So touching 😢 that his Mom cleans his grave site and puts fresh 💐 flowers there. My Brother died , my Mother did the same. thing. She would say that ,she always thought of him. The only time she wasn't sad, was when she went to play bingo or bowling. It's so sad when one if your child dies before you.

As a young 50 yr old, I was surprised the 27 club started so long ago. I thank my daddy so much for my passion of music and knowing the older ones.
I have to say this is probably one of your best videos to date. Your research is well done, the narrative is very informative, and your compassion is so moving. Many on this list died because of their bad choices. It's easy to say, "Well, there goes another rock n roll druggie/suicide/waste of talent," but when I hear about their lives, their talents, and their stories in this video, I came away with a profound sadness. And we should always remember that there is a family who mourned each and every one of them.

I believe Jim Morrison's long time partner and cosmic mate Pamela Courson also tragically died at 27 too. Brian and Jim both died 2 years to the day apart. I've always been fascinated by the 27 club and this video is amazing.

I watched a video a couple of years back where they showed Anton Yelchin in one of his final roles walking through Hollywood Forever cemetery and you can see the very spot where his memorial now stands in the background. It was filmed a year or less before his death. Really haunting.

I know this isn't Hollywood or famous people, but have you ever thought about a tour through the cemeteries of Halifax, Nova Scotia to show the graves of the people lost on the Titanic? I know there are a LOT of them there!

In the opening of the Tim McGraw song How Bad Do You Want It, Tim sang about Robert Johnson. The beginning of the song lyrics are “Robert Johnson went to The Crossroads. So the legend goes. He went there with a guitar, and the devil took his soul”
I know the story. Cream,Eric Clapton's band sang about this in their song Crossroad.
You can't actually sell your soul to the devil though. If you're lost you're already Satan's and wind up in hell on Judgment Day. If you are a Christian you belong to God and Satan can never have you.

I just saw an article about Anton Yelchin today on MSN. It talked about the message on his grave and mentions Hollywood Graveyard.

Wow, I did not realize there were that many members of this club. I remember in the early 70's visiting Jimi Hendrix's grave and it was just his headstone the said "Forever in our hearts"
I grew up in Aberdeen Washington and lived two houses down from Kurt's memorial park. Thank you for showing the beautiful banks of the Wishkah (wish-kaw) River. As much as he hated Aberdeen, like the rest of who grew there did, he was a huge influence on so many artists then and now. May his screams live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

My best friend actually was almost 27 when she died from an accidental overdose! She died on Valentine’s Day two years ago this upcoming year! We miss you Markie Lynn! ❤❤😢😢She and I had our birthdays ten days apart: mine was the same day as Judy Garland’s.

As a kid, I loved the original Power Rangers and remember Thuy Trang being one of the first celebrity deaths that really hit me. Sadly reunited just this past week with green and white co-star Jason David Frank.
Friends of Robert Johnson said that before he made that deal as he claimed that he was “absolutely horrible & couldn’t play a single note” No one could explain how he became so great in such a short time. It will be a legend that will live forever.

Anton Yelchin death was tragic, but was preventable. His vehical was due to be recalled, but the manufacturer took too long to send the notice being his grandparents recieved it two weeks after his death. I feel that due to negligence on the manufacturer's part in delaying in sending the notice is responsible for his death.
His Parents sued the manufacturer, and received a settlement.
A young talent lost to Corporate stupidity.
Anton's is the most tragic because it could definitely have been prevented

I don't know why sometimes it's so draining watching the videos from this channel. Don't get me wrong, I love this channel so much, that's why I still watch them up to this day. Even when the cheerful background music is played, I still can't hold my tears...

Badfinger are my favourite band. It brings me joy to see Pete Ham get some attention. His playing, singing and songwriting are incredible and fill me with such strong feelings when I listen.

Before turning 27, besides thinking of Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Jimmy Hendricks, and Janis Joplin mainly to name a few, I was almost so sure I was gonna go with them at that age. But according to my spoiler, I made it past that age too. The same year I turned 27 is the year of my sobriety date from alcohol, in 2010. Unfortunately I relapsed with drugs only in2015, but cleaned up my mess right away in 2016. Im just glad to be alive and to be able to look at the 27 club, as an obstacle I managed to overcome alive.

I was so surprised when Rico Yan came up on this video, thank you Master Gala for sending the entry! I remember all the intrigue surrounding his death and how much of an impact he made when so many people paid their last respects to him. So young, he could have done so much more.

Jade Goody was phenomenal throughout her illness. She may have have only been 27 years old, but she put her illness aside while she tried to make enough money for her two adorable boys.
I wish and hope anybody going through their cancer journey is successful and live a long life.

As one of your Filipino subs, I thank you Mr. Arthur Dark, for featuring not just one of the country's biggest matinee idols, but also one of the biggest stars of the 90s, Rico Yan. Yes, I still remember how his sudden passing was ALL OVER the news at that time...and that some people thought that his cause of death was a "nightmare" (or as locals call it "bangungot").
I, alongside other of your Filipino subs, am hoping you can come here to the Philippines, as we have SO MANY famous graves here, not just Rico, but also other entertainment and sports personalities, as well as Heroes, National Artists/Scientists, and even former Presidents!
I always wondered how Alan Wilson passed away he was such a talent. That was such a terrible story about Jesse and his wife at the hands of nefarious means. When you came upon Pete Ham about fell off the chair I forgot. Bad finger was the first band I ever saw in person. My best friend and I to this day have a special place for Pete Ham in our hearts

The story of Jade really got me and brought tears to my eyes. I didn't know her or her story but you made it a perfect telling of a life taken way too soon. That scene of her with her family sitting on the hillside hit me deeply. Drugs/alcohol and moving vehicles... What a waste of these lives. Thank you so much for this Arthur, but even more importantly, Thank you for including those who were cremated and had no markers or headstones, I know you normally don't include them as they have nothing to visit but for this special episode you made an exception and I for one am glad you did. Maybe when you do another video, maybe keep mentioning them and instead of showing markers, you can do like this one and show bodies of water when mentioning those whose ashes were scattered at sea or a forest or wooden area for those scattered around trees or parks or even those who were creamted and their family members still have their ashes in urns. Thank you again for all you do.

Jim Morrison will always be one of my biggest heart break's..He had such raw talent. Val Kilmer who acted in the Door's movie, once said in the Documentary that it was a real shame Jim didn't focus on his craft a little more...
There was a live flame quality to Morrison. Only other time I've seen that was the front guy for INXS.

As soon as I saw this video was about the 27 club I knew you would talk about Thuy Trang. She is still my favorite of all the rangers, but hearing you talk about her this time hurts a little bit more as the ranger fandom just lost one of her costar, Jason david frank, just last weekend.

Absolutely amazing video! I've watched it twice already and it's amazing! I know this would be a VERY long video, but perhaps a suggestion of visiting the Graves of notable military personnel (ie Medal of Honor recipients, military presidents, and other notables) that impacted the turn of the continuous freedom and liberty that we, as Americans, are blessed to have every day.
I went to Hendrix's grave early in the morning one day on a trip to Seattle. When I arrived, there were two foxes at his tomb just hanging out. A total trip. Went to the house that Cobain died in and it's blocked off so it can't be seen, but there's a neat little park next to it with benches that have been hit with all sorts of Cobain references.
