I am related to Judy Garland, she lived a very sad life resorting to alcoholism. Every year as a child The Wizard of Oz was shown at Christmas our whole family of 20 people would sit around religiously to watch it. A true Classic. RIP Judy and all of those wonderful characters. ❤
My great Aunt is Billie Burke "The Good Witch". My sister looks exactly like her beautiful & sweet just like her. As a child she dressed up as The Good Witch & everyone said how much she was just like her. We told them it's bc she is related to her so.. I'm proud of Billie Burke she did an amazing job acting & looking stunning at 54 years of age while filming, I couldn't believe that when I read it. She will be forever remembered in the film. 👠👑🎩🕊🌹
Wow,that is remarkable!! My husband and I actually got to know a relative of burt Lehr. HE was kind enough to tell us stories and showed us family pics ! May the wizard of Oz cast rest in ✌
Judy had one of the saddest stories and there were so many people who loved her, who will always remember her. She gave so many of us beautiful childhood memories that we will cherish for a lifetime. Thank you Judy
She had a very tragic life her and Shirley Temple it is heartbreaking and they both still had beautiful smiles on their faces even though they were going through so much.
I'm 71--and the WIZARD OF OZ has always been my favorite movie. Thanks for your video--and for the respect you showed for the actors and the movie itself. Rick
A couple years before Jerry Marron died I wrote to him for an autograph request and sent a 5x7 of him from the film and $10 with a self-addressed stamped envelope. A couple weeks later I got it back and it was autographed and just a couple years later he passed away.
I learned something new because I didn't realize that the actors who played Aunt Em and Uncle Henry were in the Great Mausoleum. Michael Jackson is in the Great Mausoleum and he was in the The Wiz. What a coincidence. I love this movie so much. I appreciate you making this video.
Buddy Ebsen was the Tin Man who got sick from the silver makeup. And he played Uncle Jed Clampet on the Beverly Hillbillies. Side note; there used to be a miniature metal mechanical / early animatronic Mach-up of him dancing in the Walt Disney Story that was at WDW on Main Street. You would have enjoyed that. I think I read where that attraction had been moved to Tokyo Disneyland. Sorry I missed the watch party, Saturday. Thank you for the videos and Happy Halloween 🎃
FunFact. Contrary to popular belief there wasnt a munchkin swinging as tinman & scarecrow & cowardly lion & dorothy go off a skipping down the yellow brick rd as you will probably know it was a couple of pink flamingoes loitering with intent... by the way great story about the signed autograph 👍
There are a few costuming photos with Buddy modeling the Tin Woodsman costume. Here's a link of one of those photos with a recording of Buddy singing "If I only Had a Heart" from some of the pre-production work. Interesting stuff: ua-cam.com/video/ZDcgsRaGDao/v-deo.html
Hollywood has history and full of dark history that everyone forgets and doesn't want to mention but Grimm is the greatest to shine a light on that. One love, guys
Still after watching Wizard of Oz for over 50 years the end when Dorothy tells Scarecrow she’ll miss him most of all with the violin playing no place like home softly it gets me teary eyed , thanks again
Ive LOVED the Wizard of Oz since I was about 10 years old. The movie is a classic and will never age. The cast will live on forever in this beautifully done film for generations, my kids love it just as much as me.
My kids and grandkids love this movie also. As a matter of fact the first time my two granddaughters saw it they had to watch it several times on the weekends they came to visit. For atleast 6 months. Which was fine with me. I was tired of watching the Grinch movie. Don't get me wrong, good movie. But you can only watch the same movie so many times. 😂
I got so emotional when you showed Judy’s grave! I couldn’t stop crying, Hollywood was so awful to her, and just seeing photos of how she looked before her passing genuinely breaks my heart. I can’t bring myself to watch The Wizard of Oz anymore after learning the terrible history of that movie. Such a good and emotional video, thank you so much for sharing! Happy Halloween! 🖤🧡🖤
I first fell in love with special effects when I saw the Wizard of OZ at four years old and the Winkie staff blade was the inspiration that started my wicked art style, thank you L Frank Baum for changing my life and so many others.
My all time favorite movie. I always loved the fact Judy I were born on June 10. I also named my children Emily and Henry after the movie. Absolutely love your channel.
Buddy Ebsen ( Jed Clampett on The Beverly Hillbillies) was the Tin Man, but nearly died as a result of the silver paint. The role then went to Jack Haley. Great tour...as always.❤️
Wizard is my favourite film of all time and can't remember how many times I've watched it. Judy had an amazing voice and such a tragic life. Buddy Ebsen was the actor who was the original Tin man. Have a great 2022.
Buddy Epsen became a huge TV star. Buddy Epsen is remembered as Jed Clampet from the Beverly Hillbillies. He was also known for playing the title character in Barnaby Jones.
I loved the “Cowardly Lion” , he was so funny when they were outside the Wizard’s castle, he put a broken flower pot on his head, put the red carpet on him and he sang “and if I.. were king … of the forrreest !” The quiver in his voice kills me every time 😂😂😂
Wizard of Oz is my all-time favorite movie - Never get tired of watching it. Thank you so much for doing these videos... Maybe do one for Gone with the Wind
I do recommend watching Gone with the Wind at least once. Its view of history is of course problematic (especially if you watch it immediately after Django Unchained!) but it is a really magnificent experience, in terms of cinematography, acting, and music. It also contains excellent performances by some of the leading black actors of the time.
Thanks you guys for doing this. Some people will never be able to see some of these things and places in person! Like me lol I appreciate you guys very much!! 💜
I'm eternally thankful I was presented THE WIZARD OF OZ in 1983 I was 3 years old and immediately fell in love with the movie. It's so relaxing to watch on a rainy day. Lights dimmed. Awesome video Grimm 👍 Hello from Guadalajara Mexico 🇲🇽

So wonderfully done. I lived in Southern California as a kid way before you were born, (and we met Lucy and Desi as well as Jay North who played Dennis the Menace at that time) and never got back there until a couple of years ago. I went to Westwood to see Marilyn and everyone else and made it to Hollywood Forever and saw Judy. I had an extremely abused childhood and young life and the old movies, especially the old black and whites, were my escape and those people became like God's to me. I was really touched by what you just said about this is what you and Jessica live for, because I am the same way, except I didn't follow my heart and move to Los Angeles years ago like I should have. After not having been there for so many years, when I went a couple of years ago I thought maybe I would be disappointed. Nope. On the contrary, it immediately felt like home to me ( there's no place like home...👠👠) and I get an energy and a spiritual feeling there that I get nowhere else. I've lived in South Florida now for over 30 years and while it's not terrible, I really wish I was in Los Angeles, with its problems and all. But I'm 66 now on a limited retirement and could never afford it. But it remains where my heart is and I was never happier than I was when I visited a couple of years ago. I'm happy you guys are able to live your dream.
Thank you for your video. Loved it so much. My mom was 4 when it came out in theaters. You gave more information about the actors that were involved. Thank you. Love you both. 🎃❤️
My husbands grandmother is buried at Holy Cross and her funeral was in that mausoleum that the scarecrow is in ❤️ I never knew that at the time I wish I would have so I could have looked for him! So cool! I’m a new viewer from Ohio and have been watching your videos for the past two nights ☺️ keep them coming!
Fantastic video, as always. One of my guilty pleasures from childhood is Grease 2. It wasnt until a few years ago that I found out Lorna Luft, who plays Pink Lady "Paulette", was Judy Garland's daughter. Talented family!
Thank you, Michael and Jessica for taking us to the sites of the actors of one of my favorite films! Keep up the great work, Happy Halloween! Edit-Holy smokes, just realized that the Baums are at the same site of one of my favorite musicians, Michael Jackson. Dang. RIP to all the great people who have entertained us.
Thank you for showcasing and remembering all these wonderful actors. My grandfather (now 94 years old) used to work in one of the old theaters in Baltimore when he was young. It was frequented by Jack Haley (the second actor for the tin man) as well as some of the other cast members. Jack and him became good pals over the years though. Every time he visited he'd ask "I wanna see Mr.Mac, is he here?" My pop always talks about him, and how it was some of his best memories. It's a bit saddening to see how plain his resting site is, but I'm glad to see his memory going on. Thank you so much for this video!
I'm glad you're familiar with the sequel Return To OZ. I love the original Wizard of OZ, but Return to OZ is my favorite. I first saw it on TV when I was little. I like how it has a much darker tone to it. Plus the Wheelers creeped me out. And you have Princess Mombi with her interchangeable heads, which was creepy as well. I recently got Return to OZ on DVD as a Christmas gift.
My fav film i watch this film every week since age 6 ..im 49 now and never get bored with the wizard of Oz im gunna count up how Many Times i seen IT i watch IT on boxing day easter and every week too xx thanks for this i might have to visit here for vaction xx

Thank-you for this I am 55 years old now and loved watching this movie As a child and love it still Rest in peace to all the actors who gave us this wonderful movie to enjoy throughout the rest of our lives❤
You are so good at what you do.You should have your own show on tv.I'm glad to have discovered you, such professionalism! Thank you for all your hard work and I loved The Wizard of Oz.!!
I'm 65 now but when I was a kid, the Wizard of Oz was shown once a year along with Gone with the Wind, we always watched both movies. It was a family tradition to sit around the TV, all eight of us, and watch while eating stove top popcorn from a huge plastic bowl. Very fond memories.
Wow the production value on this video was top tier. Very impressive. The music, the innovative camera angles, the mood, haunting music, creeping camera and overall aesthetic was seamlessly interwoven and perfectly complimented one another. You guys have grown so much. Keep it up. Love you both. PS: I would love to know the music that was used as the recurring theme played throughout the video.
they destroyed judy garland. from her parents to MGM to just everyone. She had no chance. R.I.P. Go read the story She was Doomed from the beginning and no one paid for anything they did to her
@@brianpreston8483 watch the videos of judy garland. They drugged her, touched her and so much more. They fed her pills. It's crazy what they did to her
Probably watched this movie 5 times over the last week been watching since a kid in the 60s it never gets old , it’s funny though it wasn’t until recently that I noticed Toto had a little bed that looks like a covered wagon with his name across the front it’s really noticeable when Dorothy gets bonked in the head by the window in her room during the twister , thanks again hope you two are having a wonderful Christmas holiday season
OH MY GOODNESS! I just noticed your shirt has Frischs Big Boy on it!!! I'm from Cincinnati and they have been closing so many Frisch's down lately. It's my favorite and it's breaking my heart! loving this video. Huge Wizard of Oz fan.
I'm 57, The Wizard of Oz is one of my favourite films. Long ago I lost count of how many times I've watched it. I was doing good, keeping it together, until you got to Toto's memorial... now I'm in a flood of tears.
We just watched The Wizard of Oz last night. It's great to see this guided tour of the Judy Garland Pavilion. Judy's special talent helped make this movie a national treasure. My grateful thanks to her and all the cast. RIP 🕊🌹🕊🌹
Great video! It’s nice to see some of the “old Hollywood” as you say. This was my cousins favorite movie as a kid. She passed away from an accidental overdose as well and her favorite song was song was “somewhere over the rainbow”. So I can relate to this video! Thanks again!
I love The Wizard of Oz and especially Judy Garland. My mom told me the first time I ever really watched it I was about three years old. Buddy Ebsen was the actor who became ill from the silver tin man makeup. Thank you for this.
this was my favorite video of yours by far!.. ive been a big fan or " ozmapolitan" for life.. first color movie i think... jerry maren lives to almost 100 and poor judy garland dies young at 47....good job sir and i for one appreciate this 🤟🏻👍🏻👍🏻
My grandma used to watch movies with me on Saturday nights. It was always Bob Wilkins scary movies but whenever certain shows came on she put them on. I love The Wizard of Oz. I saw it first in black and white. Then color. Wow love the Judy Garland wall mural. Thank you for another awesome video.
Jerry lived a long life! 🌈🍭 Judy Garland so young, so sad, with the overdoses ...I don’t know how I missed this video, I love that you guys love what you do. Thank you for doing this for us! As usual! HAPPY HALLOWEEN from Orlando on a Friday night, I’m binging your videos I’ve missed!🎃🎃
You are so great at what you do! Thanks for the awesome videos!! Oh, and the first tin man was Buddy Ebsen who played Jed Clampett on The Beverly Hillbillies.
I just saw it to show it to my daughter that is 17 and she was blown away by the special effects in the movie especially for the time, ofcourse it's been masterized but still it's a work of art👌🤩
I grew up in a time before vcrs and DVD so you could see the Wizard of Oz once a year and if you missed it that was it until next year. I always made sure to keep my eyes and ears peeled cause I didn't want to miss out.
The Wizard of Oz will forever remain 1 of my all time favorite movies. My Mom has a huge collection of memorabilia from the movie and it’s one the first movies I ever watched as a kid.
What a wonderful video (as usual) but this one was so heartfelt, it was quite a emotional one & the hauntingly beautiful music just added to it all! Thank you my dear friend!!! 🤗 (as others have noted, Buddy Ebsen was supposed to be the Tin Man but was allergic to the makeup)
Just for fun you may want to visit the Oz Museum in Wamego, KS. Very cool with a lot of artifacts. Bonus, the building is believed to be haunted. In fact, several places in the town are haunted. Wamego even has a yellow brick road that crosses Hwy 99 in the historic downtown area.
Truly a classic film for all ages, for all the world, and should be mandatory viewing for all film makers... I loved your memorial GLA episode of this historic landmark film-- keep up the great work, Grimms.... :^)"""""""
My niece when she was a child in the 1990s met Jerry from the lollipop gild. It was at a yearly parade for the wizard of oz in Syracuse NY. The wizard was her favorite movie, she got married in ruby slippers.
The wife and I are big Wizard of Oz fans and we've made plans to see Judy Garland's grave sometime at Hollywood Forever. I remember hearing that Judy wanted to be buried on the West Coast, not the East, so she got her wish.
You HAVE to see Gone With the Wind!! There’s also soooo much history made when making this moving. It would be a great video for u to make! Research Hattie McDaniel and the Academy awards ceremony. She accepted the award in a no blacks hotel. And read about how Clark Gable threatened to boycott the movie premiere so that McDaniel could attend. It’s a great movie for reflection and history of behind the scenes.
I luv Wizard of Oz never get bored of it I can watch it over and over, my daughter is a fan too - when she was little her first time watching it you shoulda seen the look on her face pure delight and sorta scared when the bad witch showed up, such good memories
Wizard of Oz is the best movie of all time imo. Even as a grown man, I enjoy watching that movie and even shed a tear or two. Theres a really neat Oz museum in Wymego Kansas that you must visit. Its been a few years since i was there so I hope its still around. Judy got involved with the ratpack in Vegas back in the 60s. She ended up somewhat of an alcoholic. That movie will always stand the test of time. Love and light to them all...and Toto too. Great video!😎✌️

"The Witch Trials" by Peter Gundry
Really love your show. Thanks so much appreciate your knowledge and all you share . Great memories
they destroyed judy garland. from her parents to MGM to just everyone. She had no chance. R.I.P. Go read the story She was Doomed from the beginning and no one paid for anything they did to her
That's exactly right
I didn't know that
@@brianpreston8483 watch the videos of judy garland. They drugged her, touched her and so much more. They fed her pills. It's crazy what they did to her
@@edwinwelch1272 I am doing that right now, thank you
@@brianpreston8483 welcome. Your going to look at the wizard of oz movie different now once you learn everything.
The architecture and the statues of these graveyards are so beautiful and the edited music makes it so ethereal I don’t think I’d ever leave
Wonderful video! The second actor who tried to play the tin man was Buddy Epson (Jed from the "The Beverly Hillbillies")
I swear, your videos are getting better with every one you add. I love the research and locations. Keep Halloween-ing!
your videos are my comfort food for my mind. i love these. wish i had your life!
ANOTHER, INTERESTING AND INFORMATIVE VIDEO, YOU PUT A LOT OF TIME AND HOMEWORK IN YOUR VIDEOS, THAT'S WHY THERE FANTASTIC!
OH MY GOODNESS! I just noticed your shirt has Frischs Big Boy on it!!! I'm from Cincinnati and they have been closing so many Frisch's down lately. It's my favorite and it's breaking my heart!
loving this video. Huge Wizard of Oz fan.
Without this video, I would have never have been able to visit all those places. Thank you so much.
I feel the same way. 💯
I am re watching this again I love it ❤ my favourite movie growing up. I love the way you present your videos including the music
always a good evening when a new grimmvideo is posted :)
I'm 57, The Wizard of Oz is one of my favourite films. Long ago I lost count of how many times I've watched it. I was doing good, keeping it together, until you got to Toto's memorial... now I'm in a flood of tears.
Normally on Christmas period tv transmit the movie! Merry Christmas and happy holidays guys! ❄️🎄🎅🏼☃️
We just watched The Wizard of Oz last night. It's great to see this guided tour of the Judy Garland Pavilion. Judy's special talent helped make this movie a national treasure. My grateful thanks to her and all the cast. RIP 🕊🌹🕊🌹
Really happy that you enjoyed the video. Happy Halloween 🎃
Jerry Maron really had lived a long life. 98 only 2 years we would have been a century years old. Mad respect to him
Fantastic video! Thank you for sharing with us all! The Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite movies all time!! It is such a timeless classic.
You are so great at what you do! Thanks for the awesome videos!! Oh, and the first tin man was Buddy Ebsen who played Jed Clampett on The Beverly Hillbillies.
Yep! and also from the St. Louis Area. Well, right across the river in Belleville IL.
Yes also Barnaby Jones.
I just saw it to show it to my daughter that is 17 and she was blown away by the special effects in the movie especially for the time, ofcourse it's been masterized but still it's a work of art👌🤩
Masterized lol
I grew up in a time before vcrs and DVD so you could see the Wizard of Oz once a year and if you missed it that was it until next year. I always made sure to keep my eyes and ears peeled cause I didn't want to miss out.
I had a cairn terrier as a child, from age 4-12, and I loved that I had my very own Toto lookalike!
Much appreciate the effort and knowledge shared. Fellow old soul here who quite enjoys living vicariously through you and your videos.
Your background music gives me a “Flowers in the Attic” type of creepy vibe. I love it!
I dont know why but this is 1 of my favorite videos and places you guys have been.❤❤❤
I can't believe you haven't seen One of the Great Movies of all time. "Gone WIth the Wind" WOW Talk about a Classic.
I haven't either and don't care to.
No got slaves right lol
The Wizard of Oz will forever remain 1 of my all time favorite movies. My Mom has a huge collection of memorabilia from the movie and it’s one the first movies I ever watched as a kid.
The Awesomeness that Is Grimmlife Collective Continues! ✊😎👊🍁♈🍁
Awe nicely done❤️❤️ thank you for taking us on this one.
I am totally speechless, and very very grateful for your channel.Thank you!!
I have a first edition of Gone With the Wind with colorized pictures in it I need to read this book ,since I am from the deep south.
This is by far the best historical film. Love your show❤
I luv Wizard of Oz never get bored of it I can watch it over and over, my daughter is a fan too - when she was little her first time watching it you shoulda seen the look on her face pure delight and sorta scared when the bad witch showed up, such good memories
Awesome video. The 2nd actor selected to play Tin Man was Buddy Ebsen (Uncle Jed, Beverly Hillbilly’s).
The wizard of oz

I hope you're feeling better soon, I've been sick since November 20th, I think it was covid but as soon as I called it was past the 2 weeks and couldn't get tested sadly, but still have many of the symptoms, in the last 24 hour's I've had the worst headache ever. Enough with me, but I hope you're up and feeling well soon. As I do myself..
