Barnes: Takes a chainsaw and rips Larusso's body in 5 parts...
Referee: That's it Barnes, one more violation and you're disqualified...
The fact that he even told him "AND I DO MEAN LIGHT CONTACT MR. BARNES" at the beginning makes me wonder how he handled all the other fighters
Barnes, if you break one more bone of LaRusso's you'll get a point deduction! Alright now, lets have a good clean fight!
My head cannon is Silver paid the ref. But the ref had to call the point for Daniel because it wad so clean and obvious and if he hadn't the crowd would have rioted
@@gregquinn7817 Not that ref he’s Pat Johnson and he trained all the fighters in the first three films. He had tremendous respect for Daniel’s victory over Johnny Lawrence. He is seen talking and congratulating Daniel in the beginning of part two.
“”Its okay to lose to opponent, MUST NOT LOSE TO FEAR””
You would think after fighting to the death for real that he could handle a tournament champion. Somehow he went back to the first movie.

Mike Barnes is basically the Karate Kid version of Ivan Drago
No, he’s clubber Lang Johnny’s Apollo Creed Daniel is obviously Rocky and chosen is Ivan Drago
Mike barnes looks like Ivan Drago
@@jonathantorres4085lol yeah not only that, Miguel directly referenced Apollo in season 4 to convince Johnny to work with Daniel
I see what you are saying. But I disagree. Mike is like a hired gun. Ivan was a athlete trying to prove himself, just a poor attitude and approach.
He really does

Myagi yes
I like the look on mr Miyagi face when Daniel start doing the kata,is like he said to Daniel "see, this is what i talk about"...
"no face contact is allowed" I guess the screen writers of cobra Kai aren't aware of this in the first season.
No punches to the face
Due to Mike Barnes' unethical and unsportsmanlike conduct. The All Valley Karate Committee has given Cobra Kai & Mike Barnes a lifetime ban from participating any martial arts tournaments from now and the future.
You Reep What You Sow.
Amen. The law of reaping what one sows is said directly by God Himself in His Word, and it will prove true in every situation under the sun. Really point here - even better than the one Daniel-san scores.
Love Mr. Myagi 😢😢😢 R.I.P.
Daniel did a whole ass Kata on the mat without breaking eye contact to Mike
When I first watched Cobra Kai, I hardly recognized Daniel LaRusso. Heck, I hardly believed that was Ralph Macchio. This scene shows a good resemblance of Ralph’s young self to his old self
Dont say old but mature please. An old man from 77' 😅
@@chavhinck Well... Thomas Ian Griffin (actor of Terry Silver) is 1 year younger than Ralph. Yet as Terry Silver, he calls himself an old man. Soo...

Barnes: what's the matter sweetheart? you Having trouble breathing?
Referee:"on your line.
Terry silver:"I love it when he pound him!"
Mike Barnes is a legend who was robbed as Silver cost him big time. Without Terry's ridiculous keep the score 0-0 Mike would have wiped him in less then a minute. Absolute injustice for gentleman Mike 😂
But in cobra Kai he apologized to Daniel and they became cool with each other
Probably partly due to his evil sadism (he enjoyed torturing his opponents like a cat torturing a mouse) extreme over confidence (the possibility that he could possibly lose was almost as alien to him as colors are to a person who was born blind) and maybe partly RESPECT for his senseis and wanting to keep their pride in him but the smartest thing that he could have done was DISOBEY Kreese and Silver and instead of pushing his luck just get it over with quickly. The contract he signed for the 50 percent stake in the dojos ONLY stipulated that he needed to WIN not HOW he wins.
Plus, even if he had been right about Daniel not even being able to score a point on him he almost got disqualified and had that happened he would have lost his financial opportunity anyway.
mike knew right from wrong and chose wrong and he paid the consequences for it.
glad he learned from this experience
Silver was confident Barnes would easily get the point since he easily dominated Daniel in the first round
The Narcissism was strong within this movie, that’s what screwed Barnes along with kreese and silver
That shotgun blast will cost Barnes his previous point. Score 0-0

It’s a wow, terry silver was actually younger than him!!
One year younger than Daniel Larusso in real life…..4 years older than Mike Barnes in real life.
@@chuckmanofgod His CHARACTER was 40 in the movie (description in the novel). I chalked it up to him looking much younger due to a healthy lifestyle and the martial arts training. Its not that unrealistic for a very healthy person with a very healthy lifestyle to age very well.
Terry silver is next level super villian
The only time in history a fighter wins with kata 😂
Movie logic.
He didn't...he won with a shot to the midsection
Found it odd that Mike Barnes was surprised to see Kata being used.
I fought in plenty of tournaments. Barnes would have been disqualified in all of them with the intentional face punch when the action was stopped.
This tournament is nonsensical.
The summary essentially is: Barnes dominates him throughout the fight. The fact that Daniel would be declared to have "beaten" Barnes after hitting him just once makes no sense in terms of fighting. Barnes WAS the better fighter.
And those rules are kind of silly - not counting Barnes punch to the solar plexus because of "no clean technique" and yet letting Daniel go on with his rain dance session?
that is why alot of people did not like Part III. Daniel doesn't throw one punch or kick until the end.
It's essentially a kids movie, not a Karate tournament documentary. What the hell are you all talking about? You know The Goonies pirate ship was also not a real pirate ship? 😂😂😂
@@mattkinsella9856 what goonies has to do with this, it doesn't.
@@mattkinsella9856 Still makes no sense that Daniel just stands there and lets Barnes hold him with one hand and repeatedly kick him in the back. And the rules of the tournament still don't make no sense, kids movie or not.
When winning doesn't mean that you received less pain. Larusso received around five violent hits while he only gave a light one and won.
Anyone know a good furniture salesman?
It's Mike Barnes
@@ict-dukachristiandave9376 hope he got another store in the deal at the end of Season 5. F--k Silver!
Can you figure that those two would meet again at cobra Kai series, but this time, as friends and not enemies.
Nobody would’ve thought that Mike would hash things out with Daniel let alone team up with his 2 other rivals Chozen and Johnny to take down Silver
Awww come on barnes!!
I could not tell whether or not that kid was rooting for barns or disgusted by his behavior.
@@Zurround it looked like disgusted to me
This is an example of kata actually working in a fight setting. Many people say it does not work but this worked very well.
Well this is a fictional movie...so I hope there are better examples 😅
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You've obviously never learned a Kata
This doesn't make any sense. The referee said that Daniel was the first person to win the all valley tournament two years in a row, but didn't Johnny win the 1982 and 1983 tournaments?
He was a 2 time champ, Lawrence never won as a repeat champ like Daniel did

Cars vs furniture
You just have to love the simplistic black and white villains of the 1980s
I tear up every time.
Remember the game plan first you win a point and you lose a point keep the score 0-0 pulverized him for the full 3 minutes then in sudden death you get the point we win I want him to experience pain first the suffers then he suffers more
Then he keeps suffering until sudden death……Mike Barnes could’ve won quickly within the first round had Terry of let him, but of course he wanted to see him suffer more than a simple win. Big mistake for Terry, but at least Mike Barnes turned his life around afterwords.
Daniels last words as “the karate kid’ showed how ultimately Italian-American he really was. He went from Miyagi-Do to wiseguy really quick with “forget about it” 😂🖤 love it!
Did anyone notice when Mike says "What's the matter sweetheart, having trouble breathing?" Is again said by Kyler and Johnny in S1 E1, The parallels are insane!
Those are references, not "parallels". Cobra Kai's whole script is full of them
@@gutter339 same thing
@EfkEditz
No, parallel means that they exist at the same time, and also do something similar while also being different. For example in the Cobra Kai episode "bad eggs" where both Chozen and Kim teach their respective classes about fighting together, but where the former opts for teamwork and the latter for sacrificing pawns
A reference is to directly cite, mimic, or mention, something already-existing
It's like poetry; they rhyme.

Ralph does not look older than Thomas in this he looks way younger. That’s the trippiest thing is knowing their ages and how different they look. Physically Thomas looks like a grown up middle aged man while Ralph still passes for a teenager
Thomas was 27 who looked 35
I really did not like the plot device "rule" that the defending champion ONLY had to compete in the final round. Its UNREALISTIC since if he loses does he make 2nd place and its UNFAIR since if you have a well rested person who is FRESH facing someone who is exhausted from fighting all day, even if they won them all, AND might have injuries like sprains or bruises accumulated throughout the matches it means that the defending champion could actually be INFERIOR to his challenger and if its only a tad inferior (like 48, 52 or even 47, 53) then the tradeoff of less fatigue could fill that gap. Obviously that was not the case in THIS situation since Mike totally outmatched those opponents and almost effortlessly breezed his way to the end, but that is a statistical fluke.
I think the script writers were trying to SAVE MONEY as having all of those extras in the arena and filming so many matches probably added to the budget, or maybe they know that a movie cannot be much more than 2 hours long due to human attention spans and the theater wanting it to end so that they can start the next one and they wanted more time for other aspects of the plot.
Daniel having to claw his way to the top and beat everyone he faces before facing Mike would have really added to the excitement and suspense. To make sure Daniel seems like the underdog even though he wins them all they could show Mike almost effortlessly slaughtering all of his opponents without any of them managing to land a single hit on him and maybe angrily glaring at Daniel with a "you are next" expression to intimidate him and Daniel wins all of his matches too but some of his opponents put up a good fight, maybe scoring 1 or even 2 points in the 3 out of 5 matches and maybe Daniel gets hurt some along the way too.
If it had been filmed this way the final match still could have manifested exactly the same as it in fact did. Also, if the Cobras know that Daniel won every match and STILL were that over confident about Mike that would ESPECIALLY show how dangerous Mike was.
Probably to save money on the montage. I agree it's stupid they even mention it in cobra kai
@@Pierre-LucBeauregard Since that rule obviously does not exist now I think a way to fix any supposed continuity errors that might make people wonder why the rules changed back again part of the mythology of the story can be angry complaints that it was unfair.
I think they did it just to save the montage of Daniel beating 3 other opponents. It would pointless and anticlimactic since everyone knows Daniel is going to the finals
I always imagined this was a case of Silver bribing the tournament but it was never stated
@@stevekrueger8386 It would have made more sense to reveal Silver bribed the referee to ignore the fouls (seriously, how was Mike not disqualified) and that he paid them off to fix the matches to guarantee Danny and Mike wouldn't meet till the finals (his plan required a crushing defeat in the finals, not in one of the first 3 rounds) and actually show both beating their opponents
This rule was clearly added to skip having to make a montage and avoid the fact that there is no guarantee they wouldn't be matched earlier but it made no sense to begin with. It leaves you with 1 fighter with no fatigue or injuries vs another that just ran the gauntlet. So the defending champ is given a massive advantage

4:25 why does silver have a dub?
Referee:"get off the mat! Now! Get off the mat! Do that again, Barnes, and you're disqualified."
If you had headphones, you would hear a guy say "Your Dirty" at 2:34

Lol they do look alike
He was in a episode where karen told him that Dana was only 14 so they couldn’t see each other
Ref says “no contact to the face allowed”. Then Mike Barnes proceeds to literally swing at Daniel’s head like 20 times. What a legend
I think kata is a permanent defending system
Continuity error or they hired an incompetent announcer when they said first to win 2 years in a row. Johnny won as a 15 and a 16 year old and then made a close 2nd place to Daniel when he was 17.
No, they said Johnny was a 2 time champion, not back to back champion, making Daniel the first back to back champion
Lawrence was a 2 time champ but not a repeat like Daniel

Cobra Kai fights dirty and dirty fingers never succeed or prevail
I would’ve been cool if Daniel showed some skill during the fight before the final point. He seems like he actually got worse from part 1.
Daniel got way worse From the 1st Karate kid. No offensive or defensive Skills whatsoever. He just stood there and got pummeled. And that kata in the middle of the match Is ridiculous. You would never see that In a real Sparring contest. Mike should have gone right through him And got the point. Nothing at all realistic about it.
@@jb2053 yes. I was thinking about Star Wars. Can you imagine how lame it would’ve been if Luke Skywalker never gained skill and confidence from the first episode to Return of the Jedi? Unlike Luke, Daniel got lucky and won but basically sucked.
Keeping the score 0-0 was their biggest mistake...
One time I went to a birthday party in the 90’s. Her parents put in this stale-ass movie they rented and we had to sit there to watch this.
Daniel was really nerfed here
Daniel should have fouled him back
Daniel should have used the 5 point palm exploding heart technique. That would have made a nice ending.
And I thought SpongeBob couldn’t be taught how to drive, Daniel can’t be taught how to fight! The whole 3 movies it’s like he never learned how to fight
This does not seem like the Daniel who just months prior beat Chozen. I kind of feel parts 2 and 3 really should have been in a different order. Would have made sense from a character POV as well - Daniel is tempted to move from Miyagi's teachings but at the end of this movie their relationship is stronger than ever. It's the perfect set up for them both to then go to Japan and see Miyagi's family. But yano.
