This song is so underrated and I don't know why. It's a different sound for sure, but it's so good. The melody is addictive. I love this video, it's kind of silly but I love it. It feels weird seeing Björn playing Frida's husband, but I guess it would be even weirder if it was Benny since they had just broken up...

I really like 'Head Over Heels' and I will never understand why it didn't do well its a fantastic song and its also one of ABBA's best songs.
They should have released it as the first single from the album instead of One Of Us which was always going to be a big hit regardless of when it was released.

I also love the crashing drums at the end, and how the tempo changes, with the piano /keyboard. Pure, and utter joy. 😊.

Some of these chord progressions are pretty unexpected for 70s dance pop. ABBA were a fantastically talented group of musicians.
This was early 80s already
ABBA was something else when it came to songwriting. This song is a combination of chanson versus progrock. Also the reason this song didn't became hit. Too complex and virtuous for the big public. Such insanely talented musicians.
This is one of ABBA's best tunes, and that's saying a lot! Just an outstanding song, so beguiling musically. It really deserves to be one of their best-known.

When do you hear music like this anymore? Listen to ABBA's arrangements! Those guys were sheer genius! Listen how rhythms change up, and those over-lapping background vocals, and how it all comes together! Grunge came into vogue, and next thing you know we'd devolved back into Stone Age music-wise, with very little imagination, and very little changing up at all! I mean that musically, and arrangement-wise. It ticks me off that anyone would consider ABBA as teeny-bopper music or "sugar-coated". When you really listen to the lyrics of Benny & Bjorn's tunes, you realize those guys were really deep and incredibly clever! ABBA, you need to tour again!

Their last album was ironically their best album. The songwriting, the production (fully 80's now) was outstanding.
It didn't had the biggest hits like Arrival, Voulez Vouz or Super Trouper, but as an album, it worked perfectly.

I really wish that people would realise that underneath all the kitsch are phenomenal singers and, more importantly, songwriters. These songs are, to me, on the same level as The Beatles or even great classical music. I feel that ABBA will be remembered for a much longer time than anyone could have predicted.
This is the band's best song.
Such a fun song and video with Agnetha taking on a lower pitch as lead, for a change. Frida looks like she had a blast playing dress ups '80s style and she's known to love fashion. I like the craftsmanship and production of their later material, the songs have a more mature 'Euro sophistication' about them.
I've always been in love with Frida's sense of style.
And what a weird style it was, looking back. I was in my early twenties.
It was a race through fashion changes ;
Velvet breeches. Massive lace collars. gold lamé dresses and blouses. Velvet ribbon bows. Ballerinas. Cardigans with sheep patterns. Hats with weils or flowers. (The Diana effect).
Romper suits and mid calf boots with high heels. Pearl and cameo jewellery. No matter if they were plastic......
The hair eighter agressively short and spiky, or a big curly hive !

As always with ABBA, pay attention to the brilliant structure and arrangement of their songs. Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus were up there among the greatest pop songwriters ever - no doubt about it
