I wish they would have give us this movie, the one that they advertised in the Covenant trailers.
Watching Prometheus again... and just realized - David's first lines give away the entire plot.. "The Trick William Potter, Is not Minding that it hurts.." The entire scope of his plan, can be summarized in this line.. It doesnt matter how difficult it is, how much struggle - he will acheive his aim - all the way through to the end of Covenant and his transmission to Weyland - he is singluraly focused..
He wasn't like that in Prometheus. He was a good robot. Problem was he turned mad after without a tuneup. He basically got bored and started creating monsters.

I'd like to know what happened to "Walter". After he fought David in Covenant, and when David escaped, we really didn't know if Walter was still operational. Maybe he found David's work. Never know.

I think the larger picture of Prometheus & Covenant's place in the Alien universe will become more apparent. David is a brilliant character, Hannibal Lecter meets Data from Star Trek.
I wasn't a huge fan of the lore in the prequels, but that said if they do some good world building without 30 minute monologues during the movie it'll be good to see things get expanded. A little bit would go a long way, we don't have to have an entire cinematic universe get started with this film.
Honestly there's too much lore to explore in a movie. They really need a TV show that runs for multiple seasons to do the franchise justice. This has the added advantage of not having to depend on box office. There is just too much to prequel and sci fi to explore in a 2 hour movie.
Alien is way too big and valuable to just become a series of cheap scare movies. The people who disliked the prequels fail to understand the immense potential hidden away. The Engineers are invaluable to the storyline. But I guess it would be possible to please both fans and dislikers by bringing out 2 storylines that don't get in each others way, each catering to either fan or critic of the Prometheus saga.

Also the engineers are based on marble statues of gods from Rome, and they even have murals that show them as gods in promethues similar to depictions of Roman and Greek gods in murals. So the lab being called the renaissance actually makes alot of sense. As the renaissance was Italy going back to its roots and bringing back lost traditions from ancient Rome. Even the statue of David shown in the opening of alien covenant is a direct result of that, so you could be onto something. If the prequals are still cannon.
In the novelization of covenant at the end, David sends a message to Weyland-yutani.

Part 1
First things first. This video is worth Gold to me and I want to thank the content creator for the inspirational value of the content.
Before you go into this, please know that my criticism later on in the article was mainly aimed at the upcoming Alien series. I could have removed that paragraph but I didn't.
I sincerely apologise for having written a whole Essay (in fact it is so long that I had to cut it in half, part 2 is also posted),
but if you take a few (5) minutes of your time, you just might get immersed by what you read.
When I first watched Prometheus and Covenant, I was unsure what to make of it and didn't like it, but the more I thought about it the more the puzzle pieces slotted into place and a dazzling universe suddenly unfolded. Those out there who dislike the Prometheus prequels are mainly those who failed to understand the true potential of what Ridley Scott has unleashed. Before all that we only knew that humans were advanced enough to travel the stars, terraform and create artificial life. We also learned of the Xenomorph aka the Alien. However, since 1979 a whole many people were left in the dark about the derelict spacecraft and the Space Jockey aka the Engineer. Fans had to wait a staggering 33 years to learn more about these "Star people".
"And God created man in his own image"
In Prometheus we learn of the irony that the 'Gods' who created us are just like us, only way older and way more advanced. The Engineers Terraform worlds (including Earth), which they use as farmland for herds of self sustaining humans which they grow for the eventuality when they need humans as incubators to produce the Xenomorph for their bio weapons division (possibly against such rivals as the Yautja?). The chances are that there are many more terraformed worlds out there, each of them holding humans or other species all at different stages of technological advancements. There could be a number of strange civilisations out there of human or other gene, with completely strange cultures and technologies at various advanced stages, the newer batches probably still living in caves or trees and only just discovering language for themselves whilst much older batches than us could also have a higher technology than ours (provided they never followed the engineers 'invitation').
It is however written nowhere (until now) that either the Engineers or David were the founders of the "perfect organism" as we know it. Rather they utilised its design for their own nefarious purposes. David is the only android created by man to have received the liberating gift of creativity, hence being the only by man created android with true governance over his own decisions. He is unbound of protocoll which is why he does not adhere to the rules given to him in Prometheus, and why he displayed delusions of grandeur, playing God when he wiped out an entire civilisation and went on to creating his own forms of life. He was never the founder of the Alien though.
In some podcast (annoyingly I forget whose) someone stated that in the Dark Horse comics there was the mention of a sourceworld from which the origins of the xenomorph derived. So far the origins of the Alien still remain a mystery (until now).

But why did the Engineer attack Mister Weyland and his cohort when they peacefully came to talk, and why did he go on a killing spree by trying to fly the deadly cargo to Earth ? the answer is simple. The 'Invitation' in form of ancient cave paintings found all over Earth will most likely be found on several other terraformed worlds and all serve one purpose, they are a fail safe alarm for the Engineers. When the day comes that a race of humans (or possibly otherwise) is advanced enough that they can travel the stars, they will have not only unlocked the secrets to starship engines but possibly also weaponry due to tech such as fusion and fission amongst many others, and the Engineers will not tolerate any challenger that could pose a threat to their universal rule.

But that is only one half of the potential that Ridley has served up, there is more ....
The Black Goo, (or God Juice as I like to call it) is the most active and versatile compound there is. It is a miracle fluid with the ability to overwrite the genes of any free moving organism and can create pretty much any form of design required.
Although exceptions have occurred, the God juice does however abide by certain rules in which it retains the general structure of a lifeform which is why in Alien 3 you had a 'runner' xenomorph which moved quadrupedal due to the fact that its genes derived from a Dog or an Ox depending on theatrical release or directors cut.
This is where Ridley's storyline serves up some serious potential for creature design. Just imagine what the outcome might look like if there were let's say a xenomorph outbreak in the Cincinnati Zoo. What might an Elephantine xenomorph look like ? or picture a Giraffe, Gorilla, Octopus, Porcupine etc. This is where my mind races for the second time.
the engineers likely did create/discovered the aliens first. But David just made his own version. I still love the scene in predator 2 with the trophy room alien skull. I count that as canon and it means the yautja might have discovered them first. David didnt ceate tthe original strain since a skull already existed hundreds of years earlier, where as the engineers could have since the derelict ship is of unknown age and predators are also considered an ancient race. I like the idea of them being a natural creature that is just a horror which existed in a ecosystem some where in balance, but due to meddling are now a threat to all life
I still think Weyland Yutani sent the Covenant to David on purpose so that he can use the crew and embryos for his experiments.
You're doing great work with these Alien videos, I'm loving it. I hope the writers put this much thought into this film, Romulus can be something special if they stick the landing

Covenant is a really underrated Alien film. It’s really a mad doctor movie at its heart.

Covenant, is the third best Alien movie after the 1st and the 3rd movies. Sticks to its genre, keeps all its horror tropes, tells a story. Its what makes 1, 3 and Covenant good.
I like Prometheus and Covenant in their own right, I just don't think they work as prequels to the originals because they wreck the canon, in the same way that the Alien vs Predator movies don't fit in.
And that's why it's so good. It may be 3rd greatest of the Alien franchise.

GOOD! You will love it. I saw it in 1979 in the Movie Theater when I was 9 years old. Alien is one of the few movies that has stood the test of time gets better as it ages,

Just rewatched 1 2 and 3 and IMO all 3 are masterpiece. Heck even Prometheus and Covenant are good but the original was truly special. It's amazing they did it all with practical effects and created a brand new space horror franchise that's lasted this long. That's how loyal fans are. Please give us an alien TV show with 3 seasons at least to do it justice.

This is so far removed from the mystery that defined Alien's horror that it's just embarrassing. They need to stop assuming an AI in David would sound so much like a human psychopath with such broad assumptions rather than simply curious mixed with heartless. Also imagining David as literally just a head at the end of Prometheus managing to do anything like he apparently did was insultingly ridiculous. Shaw never would've given him an opportunity - never should've been more than a talking head being carried around like in God of War but the 'gods & wolves' nonsense is so cringe coming from an AI of all things. A half-assed mass effect side mission maniac-scientist, sure, but not an AI seemingly hellbent on replicating such human ambitions. Very end of covenant actually provided a terrifying scenario but not on him just being a lapdog for a human corp seemingly doing it according to programming or psychopathic assumptions. They really could've done something with such a uniquely- positioned character yet chose to just make him a cliche psychopath & orient that to the whole mystery that made the alien so terrifying. The little admiration that Ash conveyed about its purity was exactly enough to make everything superbly-uneasy. Anything more would risk ruining it & it has, leave alone that the did have a shot to do something stellar & instead chose cliche instead of anything genuinely inventive. Damned waste but it was a long shot. Alien remains unmatched in its horror & limited mythos
I believe this is more aimed at the idea that WY was in from the beginning. Perhaps even tieing the AVP movies in, who's to say that they didn't get a sample from Gunnison? In that universe, Gunnison doesn't exist, bet. So, these aholes THE ENTIRE TIME, GEN AFTER GEN, since the EARLY 2000's, have had scene and been playing with these monsters for a while. Now David, is not only the SON of this dipshit wanna-be-GOD, but, his brain I guess you can say, built into his AI, was probably sampled by his father, dna, yadda yadda, clone bs. So, now David has not only a sick fascination with these creatures like his FATHERS before him, but, he's somewhat programmed to BELIEVE That he comes from a line of gods who continuously downloading their brains into next Gen clones. Only THIS time, instead of a HUMAN, Mr. Y decided that building his consciousness into an AI modified ANDROID would not only ETERNAL his legacy, but also in sure that the research of these creatures NEVER stop... Ensuring that creation, according to HIS WILL, will always have a GOD. 😶 .........

Let this be a cautionary tale for the future, never, ever trust Androids to do your bidding, keep him on a very short leash , and at the very first signs of trouble, disconnect the android with a GOD complex , just like Ripley did in alien.
Mr. H: Another thing to remember is that David is LITERALLY the Renaissance Man, as created by Peter Weyland. Remember when Peter discusses David's creation with him in Alien Covenant? The statue of David is the most famous (if not greatest) sculpture of the renaissance. This all adds weight to your theory.
What I'm more afraid of is the effort to make the franchise "Cannon" when its all over the place. They are bringing back the big chap and maybe even the queen? How? The time it would take to justify those choices we would have enough script for 3 movies. This is going to be either amazing or amazingly bad. Lets see if plot wins over ideology.
Exactly. How can they squeeze in big chap and explore the prequel mythology and Weyland Butani and David's story in a 2 hour movie. It really needs a TV show with at least 3 seasons and it will be a monster hit. Sci fi shows and game adaptations can work like Silo, Last one of Us, Fallout and Alien deserves the same treatment as its history and lore is richer than all of them combined. A movie just won't work. They did the first one in 1979 and it took 45 years to tell 5 alien movies. Ridley Scott and fans might be dead before they tell the full story.

firm belief this is the right way someone "alvarez" has got it... the trailers in themselves have absolutely captured me again. hopefully badlands looks at this and the way too do it.
I didn't dislike the David 8 storyline. It could have been done better but it was not all bad. There are some good ideas there that are further developed in the new comics with some rebel androids. David 8 has a God complex. Pride cometh before the fall. He can't readily admit that he too is meddling with something far older and more complex. In one of the new comics, an android says the Alien is the Promethean fire and many other species have been eradicated trying to master it. I think Weyland Yutani after getting big chap, realized that David 8 was right in what he was saying but there was more to the story. Decoding the Alien DNA is how they could've gotten to the black goo. Then they might have used the Android's instructions to create something like what David did. Hence why we see those deadlier facehuggers and probably new variants of the Xenos
So this almost reminds me of the Alien book where the android hijacks Ripley's escape shuttle and locks her in deep orbit while broadcasting a message for The Company.
I think this is a solid theory. If true, I love where this is going!

What happened to dr shaw was so terrible , she helped him literally putting daves body back together then david murders her and mutilates shaws body for his experments . And in davids sick mind he thought he was making shaw perfect. Those drawings of shaw as this weird queen alien he was trying to make of shaw was dusturbing

My idea for a third alien covenant/prometheus movie is as follows:
The engineers are the main characters in the movie and comes to the planet that was in the Prometheus movie.
There they find Weyland inside the crashed spaceship. They have a blue elixir(which both heals and gives eternal life) which they empty all over him and bring him to life.
But while doing this the Deacon from the Prometheus movie sneaks into their spaceship and hide it self in one of the ventilation chambers.
In the next part they arrive at the planet from alien covenant and find the other robot(Walter) who is david's twin.The engineers use the blue elixir and repairs him.
Once awaken the engineers and Weyland get to know all the horrible things that David has done, and weyland says "we have to stop David" .
They set course for origae. When they arrive,they scans all the planet,and finds the planet is full of hostile organisms except
on a high mountain where they discover that there are humans inside a cave.
Inside the cave they meet a herd of children, who tell that when they had lived on the planet for over ten years,
they began to be attacked by Xenomorphs and all the adults died or were turned into these creatures.
There were also great giants developed by someone the children calls David.
The engineers get ready to wipe out all the Xenomorphs that David has created, but the great giants manage to escape with one of the engineers' spaceships.
The engineers and Weyland hunts the spaceship and manage to force the spaceship down on the planet lv426.Where it start sending a distress signal.
The engineers return to Origae to find David, but discover that he has escaped.
In the last part we see David arriving and meeting an unknown alien species
on a tropical like planet.
At the same time Nostromo leaves a nearby planet with the cargo of ore.
But when he and the unknown aliens have left the spaceship,the deacon slips out of the ship and is seen running toward the nearest settlement.
And that makes the cliffhanger that ends the third movie.
Interesting. I would like to see that.
My only Question is did David Create the Xenomorphs then?
I can remember in Predator 2 staring Danny Glover. The fight scene at the end showed a Xenomorph head skull 💀 on the wall of trophies (other skulls of different aliens) on the inside of the ship. It was a proper Easter egg linking the universe of Aliens and Predators together. The issue is that film was based on the 1980s of central America, way before David ever messed around with the black goo.
I just thought I'd throw that one in there unless this version of Aliens has nothing to do with the link between the 2 franchises?
I had to dig for more information but its seems David did not create the Xenomorphs, he was back engineering them to get the perfect example of the black goo. So I think I understand it now why David then sends this information back to Wayland (as he hates his creater, even though I'm pretty sure he died already in the last film). As far as David is concerned he simply wants the perfect organism to thrive. Think Waylands Corp needs to make better Androids. It would seem they are worse than the Aliens themselves and are a massive liability.

I think the movie set in timeline is more suitable if it was set before Alien based on the specimen of the Protomorph Daniels through to the space after left Planet 4

This convoluted mode of storytelling is so blatantly unappealing when held up against the mystery and world building of the first two movies. David is lame. Scott used his prowess to hijacke the most successful franchise he has ever been brought in to contribute to so he could then pretend to be the creator of it and inject in what is his true passion, his ideas about androids in Bladerunner, but those couldn't carry over as its own series and reach the audience he believed they deserved. His ego couldn't leave well enough alone, he couldn't see his own shortcomings, and now everything has been destroyed. Oh my God! I just realized, Ridley Scott IS David.
Exactly & with such an opportunity as he wanted he still failed miserably - David is a cliche (very) human psychopath - Ridley failed to convey ANYTHING of substance about AI or creation through him. I couldn't possibly imagine what 'ideas' he has about androids, considering - there's nothing there.
Why wouldn’t they just go to LV 223? There were many ships there and they probably had more goo in them

All they have to do is make a reference to David and that would be enough to connect this to prometheus and covenant which is great since the movie we were suppose to get after covenant was canceled. At least this way it will feel complete and not like we list something and I'd be perfectly fine with that so looking forward to this movie

Advent and The Crossing were definitely the best parts of covenant… though I don’t like the lack of biomechanics in David’s Alien I love the shot where it walks into the cargo hold and you see how thin and insectoid it is

Sounds like this may be an interesting film.
I would be fine with that and it is a good way to tie the film cannon all together. Say what you will about the prequels but I love David as a character and want to see his story finished

I hope it all ties back to Covenant (that movie was AWESOME, youre all crazy) and Prometheus. Ive been a fan since the original, i saw Aliens in the theater when it was brand new and nobody had ever seen it before, and ive never had another, more amazing movie-audience experience ever since. And then 47 times more. VHS, DVD, Laser Disc, Bluray, Streaming, been there the whole way. As weird and off putting Prometheus was when it came out, ive come to watch that movie a lot, I just end up choosing it, and have grown to love it. So i hope damn well those movies are included in the story, but I hope that we find out the xenomorphs have been there all along, before anyone.
Covenant was absolute garbage. Accept it. It's no Aliens, and it'll never be the perfection of Aliens.

Ridley Scott is insisting on the "Alien" franchise being a story about DAVID hence "Alien Romulus"! It is also a franchise centered on the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and all of it's evil doings.

😶 Well, I'm hoping, despite Alien 4 being PACKED with action, will be a freak nightmare that Ellen has while in 3's nightmare, being impregnated and running from her fear, also to the point of sacrificing herself hoping to END that internal pain, and in 4, the nightmare/dream where she accepts and instead becomes ONE with that fear, owning it and grabbing it by the horns. Then, in the FOR REAL 3, continuing her journey, we find out that she was lied to in Aliens about her daughter, they had used photo enhance to age Amanda, and she goes out looking for her. Or... Amanda finds HER and wakes her up and tells her of what she went through on the Space station according to the events of Isolation. So, the REAL 3 title COULD BE CALLED, WAIT FOR IT ........................................

Im rusty in my Aliens lore. Do we know if WY is still ran by Humans ? A lot of the comics have a synthetic involved. As a pivotal character or story point.

Xenomorph apocalypse would be a very fun watch if done right. I really do hope this movie is successful cause I want Aliens to make a comeback.

I liked it better when they were just a random species of space ants. Made the whole universe scarier when our “alien” was one of infinite scary species.
That sucks, the idea David had anything to do with the creation of the aliens was in my opinion the dumbest thng ever done to the lore of the movies and comics.
They need to continue the other alien movie after covenant and continue David storyline. That's Ridley Scott promised us but instead, it seems like they started a whole new chapter. If I am wrong then, I do apologize in advance here

I know this is a pretty surface level take, but the modules being named the Remus and Romulus to me seemed to be pretty on the nose. Both were created/raised by the apex corporate predator that is the Weyland-Yutani company. The experiments taking place in the Romulus lab, to create a new world/empire, spill over into the whole station. Essentially, it gives rise to the Romulus module "slaying" its sibling module Remus, as the mythical Romulus slew his brother.
No amount of polyfiller can fill those gaping plot holes. But i guess I expect too much from a universe created by multiple people, each with different visions, and no coherant thread to work around. I'll still watch anything with a xenomorph in it though. Take my money.
The less mention of the prequels the better.

What happens to David though?
Remember David's frustration that Androids are not allowed to create? I believe that's the core of his frustrations with both humanity and the Engineers. See, I still suspect that the Engineers are synthetics themselves and overthrew the Elders, took their technology and began to oversee the latest batch of sentient beings that were created by the fallen Elders.
I believe David learned this while Shaw was sleeping on their Juggernaut. I believe David learned that the Elders nourished and molded these sentient worlds so they could relocate their most promising beings to paradise; aka; Planet 4. A think tank.
I believe David was so engaged that these cousin synthetics were likewise compensating with lack of original ideas and creativity, that they elected to focus these sentient beings for their purist of wisdom and creativity.
David didn't like that all. ALL biologics and their synthetic kin are useless.
Only David has the right idea. Well, from David's point of view. ;)
Why, he's so upset, I think he ovummorphed all the Covenant embryos and colonists, and surgically grafted a captive engineer into a bio chair and scuttled a Juggernaut on LV 426 to lure humanity in.

Eventually, it will be the new Eden he talked about that can connect to the Darkhorse comic Alien Homeworld! please take amazing ideas from the comic! The way the studios butchered the Dark Phonex Saga still has me pissed off.....lol

Its time to accept that Weyland-Yutani as a corporation did nothing wrong. The bonus situation was agreed upon prior to any mission. And the creature was a discovery of unmatched significance to humankind.
I really liked Prometheus..There,I said it and I know a tide will hit hard but I will let it wash over..Covenant sucked..But I really like Prometheus..I don’t know how this next film will be and of which I have no opinion..
TBH I really hope there is no connection between the prequels

@@JJEMTT Scott did say they made the mistake of listening to the internet when making Covenant. Should have left it alone after Alien 3.
I'm sorry, but I'm just not interested in Romulus, especially since they're going to have it connect to the events of Prometheus and Covenant. Those two films pretty much destroyed the mystery and uniqueness of the Xenomorph and the Space Jockey. If they were going to explain the space jockey, they could've done it in a better way than just making them albinos in space suits. Seriously, it was established in other Alien stories (mainly the comics) that it was their skeleton and not a suit.
Also, David being the one that created the Xenos? Yeah, right. Especially, since the derelict ship in the original film was thousands of years old, long before David was even created. Personally, I prefer the explanation from the comics and novels that they were from a hive-like planet.
Outside of the comics and novels, as well as the AVP PC games (primarily the second game), I believe the story of the Xenomorph ended after Alien 3 (extended cut). People can say all they want about that film, but it wasn't as much of a betrayal when compared to Prometheus and Covenant. At least Alien 3 film didn't ruin the Xenomorph's legacy.
I agree. Alien 3 assembly cut is a superior film to both of Scott's schlock prequels. Especially Covenant, which was an embarrassment.

I have to tweak the theory, so bare with me: The Engineers sacrifice themselves to cleanse their souls from sins…. Now I think the sacrifice does not intend to create a new life, but literally to cleanse sins, how is that!? Remember the myth of the Titan Prometheus; he gave fire to humans and the Titans chained him to the Taurus mountain in punishment! Now no wonder was the name of the first movie was Prometheus, and this will explain the scene of the sacrifice and the reason why the Engineers decided to wipe the Earth clean from humans, it is possible that the Engineers were worshiped by Humans as Gods but when one of them gave humans technology; humans revolted and overthrow the Titans and in return the Engineers (Prometheus) regretted his sin and sacrificed himself to cleanse his sin! and ultimately the Engineers decided to hit back at humans later but failed
