Detection Tower is probably worded that way for multiplayer games so only you can see through the hexproof while everyone else still can't target them.
On the other hand, this wording does keep certain anthem/lord effects in tact, something like: "all creatures with hexproof have +1/+1" (there's probably not many cards like that, but I have seen some with first strike/deathtouch, so it could be a thing also)
@@Landrassa1 I mean, we have things like Archetype of Imagination, which says creatures lose flying and can't gain flying. So that's not really a reason to word it this way.
I think Detection Tower is worded this way because this way even if the creatures gain hexproof this turn you can target them. Works against cards like Blossoming Defence or Dive Down.
Huzzah! It's so cool to hear my name coming from Graham~ I has such a good time meeting you guys at C2E2! Hopefully you all can come back sometime in the future.
I just lost a game of historic brawl because my opponent hit 15+ rolls on Delina wild mage, targeting Demanding dragon, like EIGHT times in a row. I couldn't even be mad!
If you like watching Crack a Pack for Graham's stream-of-consciousness, you will definitely enjoy checking out his vlogs. The Amtrak one is among the best, but the Australia trip is also excellent.
I suspect the Tower is worded that way to avoid entanglement with "All Creatures you control gain Hexproof until end of turn" and Timestamps and Layers and all that stuff.
I rewatched the night train videos on the vlog channel about a month ago and they are among my favorites. That train stewardess (don't remember the right nomenclature) seemed so wonderful.
For the first couple of times, I wasn't on board with Matt Griffiths' editing style. Now, I really enjoy it. Thanks for the change of pace and adding entertainment via editing.... well all editing is part of making things entertaining, but this has plenty of extras beyond normal editing.
@ 8:00 to keep others in a group game from targeting the "hexproof" creature? Only gives you (you the one with the Detection Tower) the ability to target the creatures.
cards like archetype of endurance that constantly provide hexproof would refresh it through detection tower. same with things like warding orbs soo wording it as though you're just shooting through the hexproof helps trump those effects.
Detection Tower is worded that way because it only let's YOU target hexproof stuff. If the permanent lost hexproof, then other opponents could target it too, if you're playing a multiplayer game.
Yet another crack a vid, nice. I have been rewatching your old ppr's just finished dominaria. Wish I knew about your channel back then would have loved to be on with a chance of getting a legends pack. As always thanks to Graham and those peeps behind the Cameras. Takecare. Regards.
You are thinking of Shroud(This permanent or player can’t be the target of spells or abilities), not Hexproof (This permanent can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control).
Maybe it's not "opponent and creatures your opponent controls lose hexproof" in case there's a way they can get hexproof again and prevent spells from working? The way it's written, even if your opponent somehow acquires hexproof on themselves or their creature, you can still cast spells at them or their creatures as if they don't.
Detection Tower plays around instants that give hexproof. If it where „lose Hexproof“, then your opponent could Play a spell that gains hexproof. With this wording you can easily Play around any spell like that cause you Just „ignore“ the fact that they have hexproof
@@MSUHitman I never really expect to make money on a core set. It's all about a lower-powered limited experience, and if I crack a cool mythic, so it goes.
2 cards in and I'm surprised at how little amount of vanillas have been in the last couple of sets in comparison to core sets...but I guess I shouldn't? Even tribal Kaldheim just had a 5/5 bear warrior for all the bears in the set
Ah yes, 2018. Simpler times, when it was possible to open three vanilla creatures and a french vanilla in the same booster, one of them being an uncommon
Am I the only one laughing at the editor note alerting us that frilled sea serpent was in core set 2019 and that Graham was "shockingly" correct ... when we're opening a pack of core set 2019?
Ah yes my first MTG set. Bought a build-a-deck box and got packs of M19, Dominaria and the two Ixalans. Don't remeber exactly what I pulled but I know that at some point I pulled a Twilight Prophet and a Karn out of RIX and Dominaria respectively around that time.
Apparently the "correct" plural of pegasus is pegisides in Greek and pegasi/pegasusses in English. I'm more partial to pegasusses, but pegapods is nice too.
Detection Tower is probably worded that way for multiplayer games so only you can see through the hexproof while everyone else still can't target them.
It also prevents reapplying hexproof to any of those targets for that turn, since it would still be ignored.
On the other hand, this wording does keep certain anthem/lord effects in tact, something like:
"all creatures with hexproof have +1/+1"
(there's probably not many cards like that, but I have seen some with first strike/deathtouch, so it could be a thing also)

Still can be reworded to "lose hexproof and cannot gain hexproof until the next end phase" or something similar IMO.
It is worded that way for multiplayer, you can target but the other players cannot

Gotta say, I did enjoy being called a Demanding Dragon for some reason.
Ooh, a Solitaire reference!
Demanding Dragons is maybe the most playable "we" as viewers have been since this started.
Were we not once charging badgers? I could be wrong.
We were also Mysterious Eggs, once. That's pretty great.
@@thoop6795 Also very playable
@@TheGingerhead That's fair.

Kudos to Matt for his hilarious editing work here - I saw the skyscanner with eyes and lips and immediately knew he was responsible :D
At Loxodon with pizza: If your molten cheese looks like lava please immediately call your nearest cheesemonger who is also a geologist.
Cheesemonger absolutely killed me, thanks :)

Okey ,can we just talk about the editing in these videos? Fricking amazing ,Spot on editting I love it!Good job Matt!
That Vlog Graham mentioned is some of my comfort watch, can only recommend.
Credit and my eternal resentment to the editor for the extra-disturbing Skyscanner that will be scanning my soul in my nightmares tonight.
The delivery of the big glowy pizza cracked me up! Thank you.
What a beautiful out-of-context quote...
@@xrinnihil :D You made me realize that "delivery" in this sentence can lead to delicious ambiguity.
Detection Tower is worded that way to prevent instant ways to grant hexproof.
And in multiplayer it makes sure only the player using the tower can target said creatures through hexproof.
I rewatched the night train videos on the vlog channel about a month ago and they are among my favorites.

gotta say, the editing of the art in this episode is AMAZING. love it. do it more.

surprisingly i’ve seen smelt in sideboards of vintage decks, when you need a 5th or 6th 1 mana artifact destruction in red

Graham with the Boris Johnson reference when saying the bloo in the frilled sea serpent lol
I like to think i get a feeling for when the video is one of the last ones recorded in the day and this has big that energy
*Richter Hammockslam voice:* How else do expect me to watch the skies, Graham?
I knew I recognized that Matt G zing. The zoom on the Oracle flavor text was *chef's kiss
It's my birthday today and core 2019 was the year when I got into commander. I regret nothing!
That tower narration was top notch
The noise I made when Graham said "with his big glowing pizza" with such confidence DEFINITELY startled my upstairs neighbors. I'm sorry, Apartment 6.
Core Set 2019 was my first set. This is very nostalgic to me.
Creatures can gain hexproof after an effect removes hexproof from all creatures. By just ignoring hexproof it prevents the blowout.
That Vigilant Baloth is bordering on tautological.. also, loved that Reading Rainbow reference lol

6:00 A little fly-er than what?
Thornhide Wolf has some interesting flavor text! Halana & Alena before they were a card. Didn't know that before today!
Detection Tower may be worded that way to avoid Hexproof stopping "Creatures lose Hexproof"
I thought Gastbark Twins could block two things because it can pay attention to two things at once
Hexproof is also working for the controller right? So with Detection Tower you can target their stuff while they cannot target it to protect it...
You are thinking of Shroud(This permanent or player can’t be the target of spells or abilities), not Hexproof (This permanent can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control).
Ghastbark Twins -- Big reach, but also does not have reach.

The Rhox Oracle saw the explosions of mighty no. 9
“Look at that Tarrasque flying on a Pegasus!”
Yeah, thats 100% a glowing pizza.
