I would be interested in seeing a short video on how the car now drives. Have the Revshift upper mounts made a difference and where you placed the shock adjustment ? Thinking of doing the same but leaving the shock at its softest setting. What's your opinion?
Great Job Mark! I've worked behind those seats when I replaced my soft top and it is a nightmare back there. Tight for tools, can't see anything and you got to be careful not to damage your seats and center console in the process. I need to do the rear shock reinforcement and I'm not looking forward to diving back there again.
How are you supporting yourself, your knees when working behind the seats to pull back carpet? I dont want to dig my knees into the seats our of fear of tearing.
Mark: I like your new mounts and I'm sure you'll like the new ride, good stuff / video as always... Removing the clips is probably the hardest part of the job. I replaced my clips with the type that use a screw driver to expand and collapse for easy removal. If I ever need to get back (e.g. soft top replacement) in there it will be a piece of cake. Removing the rear wheels isn't really necessary but the jack is needed for shock removal...
I'll bite on that one: Did you remove the rear wheel on the passenger side? I always try to look at the job like a mechanic who's flagging hours. Those guy's always get the same end results with the least amount of work. I learned that from my mechanic buddies... @@MomentofZed
@@MomentofZed Yeah. I tried the green ones, the black ones, and also some Black Forest metal ones...holy mother of god...those were absolutely horrifying...Unless you're only driving on track for a few hours... you won't want to torture yourself with the metal ones.
Glad to see you're still working on the Z3 regularly!
Thanks! Only a dozen or so projects to go 😁

The rear is solid, but not painfully so. Im happy with the adjustment i picked. Really shows how the front needs done! Mounts seem solid.
Did you use 10mm or 12mm Revshift shock mounts?
@@PaulRichter-r9w 10 if I remember correctly. Ill double check when I get on the computer later today.
It was the 10mm.@@PaulRichter-r9w

Another great vid, Mark! Thanks! Excellent job! I put new shocks and struts on when I got my Z a few years back! Rides like a dream! Enjoy! Cheers!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Thanks, I know I should have my shocks changed. Good video, now I’ll go watch part 1, don’t know how I missed it. 👍

Yep! Put my elbow thru the top cover for the subwoofer. But, it'll motivate me to mount a new sub up there.

Loaded up the seats with multiple towels. If I ever have to work back there again I'll remove the seats.
Can you describe the feeling of the original shocks/mounts vs the new? I am in need of rear shocks and mounts as well.
Old were like a loose collection of parts somewhat functioning. New are solid but not harsh. Really highlight how bad I need to do the front.
Are you concerned about galvonic corrosion in your shock towers caused by using different metals?
@@MrCharliedodge not really, but probably should give it a look occasionally.
Nice job done again! Thank you for the video. I didn't expect it to be so easy without any new adjustments.
Thank you!
Exactly what I needed, thanx.

Smart move on the clips! Wheel removal made filming easier!

@@jimmyk6336 yep I did😃, but needed to hit the mating surface with never seize as the drivers side was getting sticky again, so was pax side.
Thanks for this. Enough to put me off!
Thanks buddy.awesome video.
My pleasure! Happy New Year!
Great video , good job. 👍
Thanks and thanks for watching!
tried Revshift before...horrible ride so went back to stock.
Sorry to hear that! I havent noticed that but the ones in this video are the only ones I have so far.
@@MomentofZed I didn’t use shock mounts, only transmission and engine mounts. Perhaps that is why.

@matreyia no doubt! I remember revshift recommends the black softer ones for the mounts. Have to keep that in mind, appreciate the advice!
The hardest part by far is getting my 71 year old very stiff body in position to remove the very stiff carpet!
That is the hardest part! If I had to do it again I might remove the seats
I'm 42 and that part kicked my butt. I still think I'm 23 but my body reminds me I'm in fact not.
