Stay tuned for more crazy!
You know what, I have watched 31 episodes of this series now and I gotta say it; I like these Mike guys, they seem like good people.
As a 40 year old sitting in my man cave with my racing helmets on the wall and racing memorabilia... I feel attacked.
Yeah I don't agree with a lot of his thoughts and decisions. It's a lot of "I think, I like, in my opinion, I don't like, etc." In his mind, every home should be a perfect "magazine show house" with the most modern and high end accessories available. Not everyone wants a sleek black white and concrete colored streamlined house. I want to come home and feel cozy and happy, and if that means having different styles or decorating, that's what I'd want. He's basically telling us that everyone's opinion is "wrong" and we're not adult enough to want what he wants. It comes off as kinda snobby 😂
Same concept as not everyone wants a brand new top of the line Porsche. Some want an old Chevy that gets them from a to b
@@kshepthedrummer It is a mindset and choice. Just like because others choose to put a priority on certain things, doesn't make me feel bad. Matt isn't doing what he does to make you feel bad about how you live. That is just silly. I know plenty of people that somehow get offended when someone else has something nicer than them. Never understood that.
As someone sitting in a room with graded Pokémon cards on the walls I also feel attacked
@ksheggepthedrummer
So glad you guys got the cabinet up off the counter top in the master bath. Just looked so off to me. plus the water damage that would build up over time unless your perfect about drying everything anytime you splash.
those cute little baby speakers are adorable looool. i personally preferred the big ones, but still looks good.
Me too especially with the grill off.
I hear ya, but video probably can't quite capture it the way they see it...
I jokingly said the new TCL 115" TV's are out now, but I don't have an extra $17K ($17K - $5K 88"LG OLED = $12K) sitting around doing nothing. LOL
@sickjohnson didn't Linus get one of those?
Yep...then CES came out with like 3 or 4 others that are about to be released I believe? @@ddevil4980
31:01 !! Make sure to make other series with all those installs this series is amazing and would definitely watch more !!!🎉
If i want a engine block hanging from my ceiling im gonna have a engine block hanging from my ceiling
Mike and Matt giving a rundown and explaining what’s going on is undefeated. Makes we want to try and build something, then call them to fix it.
Why did you reinstall the old antiquated JANDY all button pool control when you could have switched it out for total iPhone to control on the same system for not that much and eliminated the ugly old pool control panel?
We ended up doing that.
Pretty awesome light controls.
Looking good.
Thank you for the videos
Listening to A Perfect Circle, hell yeah!
Those DMFs dim real nice! I know that’s a testament to Lutron, but even on camera that fade is great for LED.
I cannot wait for the railing upstairs and on the staircase!!
Neither can we!!!
Great Job OG Team!! And contractors!
What a freakin job you guys have done. Thanks for bringing us along.
I like Lutron automation. I did the week in Allentown, to get Homeworks Interactive certified installer/ programmer.
Lutron’s products are bulletproof. Love their stuff.
Rounding third and looking incredible guys 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Speaking as a professional nerd i totally geek out on the programming abilities of the lighting system. Great walkthrough Matt!
that's just dipping your toe into a whole new world of automation. going on 2 years now i haven't had to touch a light switch other than where i've specifically programmed scenes around them. home assistant is such a powerful tool for home automation, that just sticking to one brand or ecosystem is a bit limiting now. if you know python, you can do literally anything with the open source tools out there. if you don't, someone has probably already written a plugin for it.
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE 🤩
I’m looking at wall switches after wall switches with all the features and thinking who’s going to remember what turns on what.
Now that look perfect Matt, the other would have been louder but it was bigger than the TV, the one are the right one.
Finally! MY element! Audio engineering! Too bad I'm not there guys, I could totally hook y'all up. The high ceilings will definitely keep any standing waves from happening, but you're going to have a ton of high end information bouncing around until you get some soft materials in there to diffuse the reflections.
Not to mention compensating for the Schluter Effect.
Some A Perfect Circle for testing, hell yeah
why is there a light switch 12 feet in the air
They went over it in one of the prev episodes but basically that's the only spot that panel could go since there's tile and a window there. It's all connected to the fancy remote switches by the front door though so they can use them lol
I can already hear the keyboard clicking away as that tile company changes their entire platform now that they realize they're the only supplier in the world that sells by the TILE instead of by the SF 🤣
OMG those speakers sound so good!
I've got a neon sign in my office as well as some led backlighting and such as well as items from games or toys from when i was a kid, but it has meaning to me its not just generic stuff for the neon sign and the leds are more ambience lighting, people tend to go WAY overboard, but yes it could be considered tacky bu its my office/game room and its really a me only space. i would never put things like this literally anywhere else in the house, its the place where i keep all the impactful stuff for my life for sure, but idk why anyone would do that kind of stuff in a living room or bedroom at all.
It’s ok, you don’t need to rationalize your life to random internet people.
Hard no on that floating cabinet in the bathroom. Should have just been 1 large mirror imo
At least make it white or something. The black giant cabinet up high is overpowering in that bathroom.
Nothing is permanent.
What about an engine block coffee table? I'm definitley going to make my own engine block table with a glass top
That would be sweet. Doesn’t Adam have the block from the gt350?
@@smcox1991 that would be awesome... I'd make one for him in a heartbeat
Watching this series to get the same calming effect as watching Bob Vila's This Old House.
Mike needs a weeks vacation after this to do his outdoor kitchen!! 😂
I love a good pico schluter sconce. Can they be found in highlighter yellow? I’m looking for something that makes a statement.
Leave our Man Caves alone Matt. The wife gets control of the rest of the house so let our neon die cast super model poster rooms alone lol.
🔥🔥Notification squad 🔥🔥
You guys should look into low iron "starphire" glass for shower dividers or glass walls. A great detail for future projects. Keep up the great work!
By and Down the River is an AMAZING song....good choice! In the master bath for towel bars...can you drill holes in the glass shower wall and bolt the existing towel bars through that?
14:45 cannot relate to either example. Never change Matt 😂
I’m here for the honesty rants.
Getting all Lutron controls in my architecture office as I type this including the central hub, pico remotes, powpacks and everything else. Nice to have some tips here in this video on programming because the electricians installing the stuff don’t know squat about it!
Good stuff!
I didn't think the PWM1's would look that much different, but it looks way better. Being a stereo geek, it hurts to see the 2's go, but I'm sure the quality is still insane.
I think going with the smaller speakers was a very smart move, they look much better! Personally I think the PWM2’s would have been worth the wait though
Mike thanks for the lessons on contracting and electrical work you did a great job on this one .I hope that everyone appreciates what your knowledge is and means without you no remodel I have watched everyone and almost switched to Milwaukee but then I came to my senses and kept all my FESTOOL Gear remembering that there is a difference, like Harley Davidson vs Suzuki they both work but there is that feeling of pride when you roll up . I know that you understand Mike have a great day and tell Matt WHATUP
Field trip to the LZ compound for the whole OG team.
Genuine question on the speakers, isn't the bigger speakers you had that were slightly larger better sound wise? why care that much to the size of them vs how much better the speaker would be. I suppose as I type this I am asking how [little] difference is there between the two? Thanks yall, as a die hard car guy I am beginning to understand how I can improve my life outside the garage.
I have a 6.2 v8 block coffee table with a glass top in my office…
I preferred the bigger speakers in the living room , who cares if they are bigger than the tv.
Hey Matt can you go over the kitchen accessories you buy and think work best? Really interested in all off the different stuff you buy for the kitchen and what brands and such you use.
He has done so in several videos. Watch the Helen House series or his current house series. It'll change as he discovers different brands and new stuff comes out.
Definitely. Ordering them all now.
The new NAD Master series M66 pre amp looks fantastic! Matt if OG Canada takes off please do a NAD giveaway. Great content thanks! The house is looking dialed!
Yeah M66 is pretty sweet. I run the M17 in my home theater and M33 in my office.
Your videos are solid, keep up the good work
Need a dream build for a hi fi listening room or home theater!
Every one of Matt's houses are.
Given the towel rack conundrum have you considered a glass mounted option? Seems like the only other reasonable option without resorting to a free standing alternative. Something to think about.
I can’t express how happy I was to see By And Down playing on the controller.
What does "everyone" want now 😂
I believe it is a running joke.
0:00 - The circuit breaker broke, (hot-side connection - hopefully). (Have seen AC breakers to be unpredictable). Saw an electric heater cord start trying to arc-weld. (Looked more like a 50 amp arc, not 15-20). Did not trip. Be very careful.
Can’t wait to see Matty drifting ! Lol
I’m not sure if it would be visually pleasing. But is there a way you can label what each of those picos and light switches are for? Like is there a nice way to make it look good.
they shouldve used lutron keypads for the entrance, 2 x 4 gang boxes for lights looks sub-optimal
@@fxtfusionthey are used RA2 select which doesn’t have the option for the keypads unfortunately. I do agree it would look better though.
Are all the switches labelled in your house? When you live in a house you know what the switches do.
The finished product is going to be Epic!!!! 💥
Matt, how did you get the black eye?
Lets Gooooo 🤘🤘
While I personally do not agree that showing off small touches to my hobbies in a room, be it matchbox cars from my grandfather, to books etc, I "think" i get what Matt is trying to explain. Adam and Colette both wanted a house that looked modern with the touches we see, they wanted something that separates their job's and hobbies from their home lives. IE if guests who were visiting or a business sent people, the house is inviting, and adult, but also very functional. It can be argued that anyone NOT into racing or neon signs, or collectables etc, might not feel OK in a space that is dominated by a hobby.
The important thing is that Adam and Colette both requested Matt and Laurel's help in "growing up/adulting" their home design, and OG is known for the hyper clean, but functional environments as they said. So they chose to find the specific people to bring this home style together. it isn't our home, so we shouldn't push back too hard on Matt's thoughts at least yet.
Also it should be clear that Matt has as far as I've seen, always preferred this sort of style where everything is sort of hidden, but always in arms reach, it is Obsessive Garage.
26:30 I'm sure that NAD does automatic room calibration and as someone fairly knowledgeable in audio (I've done it professionally), I don't truly understand the need of this manual EQ.
Regarding Flat vs this more base heavy audio signature, funny enough I'm someone that kinda always strived for flat, but later on I've learned that it depends in the location.
Indoors, what Matt is doing (well, not 5 dB, max 2 or 3) will sound more pleasant and usual, specially because bellow 250Hz, the room commands the frequency response + standing waves, etc, you tend to always have a slight boom effect, however outdoors, usually flat works fairly well.
Matt convince Adam to throw the steak/car parties he does and bring the OG crew for cleaning convict them they'll get food and a ride in a drift car.
Man.. no one's ever reaching that top shelf in the master bathroom cabinet 😅
Looking at the outside of the house, it was originally a commercial property if I recall so you could technically get rid of those railings all the way around and maybe place a few concrete planters around and it would really give it a more residential feel.
Also, paint that green trim.
You’ve completely transformed the inside and it looks really cool. I don’t think everyone really understands the amount of work you guys put into this.
Better not push out Mike F’s outdoor kitchen! That’s a must as soon as possible. 😊
Looking good u two, And im with u on the towel racks in that one bathroom not in good places to use yet
Neon in that room for sure
Upload faster please! Craving for the next renovation episode lol.
Can we please get the new garage design shirts back in the store and maybe in black ?
I thought you said the house was upgraded to fiber? Couldn't you use your cell internet as a Hotspot to update the things as a temp fix?
all these projects, sounds like you guys need a draftsman!!
Matt contact Lutron for paint color get spray can made to paint stuff like the pool panel.
Do you think you would ever look at setting up automations for things like lights using motion sensors etc?
Something like what Smart Home Solver has set up around his house
I do use some motion sensors for my kids rooms at my house.
Side Speakers should be placed a bit further so they are on the dark panel.
If you are going to pull the entire OG crew for cleaning, would Adam and Collete be willing to get the LZ crew together and help out with some wild drifting and BBQ after as a small thanks?
Just thinking how cool it could be to get some in car of office staff first time drifting and chilling out as a bit of a sendoff to the series after putting so much effort to make it all happen.
A little bit of the work hard, play hard life balance!
You could have pulled the old stair out and dropped in a really nice sculptural spiral stair.
You have the room there and it would really work well in that space.
They put their dogs upstairs so that probably wouldn't work out.
@@RAZGR1Z I'm talking about a larger spiral which two people can pass each other on with regular tread dimensions, not a little space saver spiral stair. They have a large enough space off to the side there.
Why not use better wall anchors like Dottie self drilling wall anchors?
I typically trash the wall anchors that come with things like this, wall mounts, etc…. Just the way I have always done it to make it better
I do all home intergration in London. Have used many brands such as Lutron, Control4, Centralite, Rako and others. When it comes to Lutron i do not know why you guys went with the Lutron Pico and RA2 system. Lutron is bullet proof but the RA2 and Pico system i will say in terms of user interface is a bit jankey. You have too have many switches to do that big living/ dining room, having all the switches on one wall just seems a bit of a gastly sight. This is where i would probably look at other brands or still lutron where the RA2 is still intergratable simplifying the users life a bit more. For eg you can have the lutron homeworks running off with any other control system i.e Control4, Crestron, Lockzone and others...
And then it breaks, and we need someone like you to come out and fix it. That is why I don't ever do full automation. Every system I've ever sold, designed, or owned has always been ripped out in favor of simple and working. I really like the look of an organized set of switches.
I wish you guys had gotten rid of the outside door in the bathroom and put the tale racks there.
and also extended the upstairs balcony overtop of the kitchen cabinets . Otherwise perfect house 👌👍
Definitely would've stuck with the big speaker's.
People who want all the racing Knick knacks in their house usually don’t have an office or a shop to put that stuff in. Unless you have a trophy or arcade room
Can the glass door for the shower still be modified to have a towel bar?😅
Happy Friday OG team. I’m gonna toss this out there and see where it lands. How about a built shed giveaway like Mike built for OG HQ. Hear me out. Some of us need someplace to put the crap we keep in the garage (need it, can’t toss it) and then we can do the custom garage! Giveaway one to make profit on the other. Win-Win!
I like it!
- 👍 👍 🔧 Happy Valentine's Day 👀❤🤍💙
Too much tile that’s a pain to clean .. the walls in the kitchen that is a bit much.. but I do love these videos
After OG is gone none of this stuff is getting cleaned lol.
Lutron is rock solid. It's the centerpiece of my Home Assistant home automation.
Did I catch Matt testing the speakers to A Perfect Circle? Nice!
Boom! Easily my favorite band. Maynard is my all-time favorite.
@@ObsessedGarage and after all this time- I never knew! Maynard’s the man!
Would be a cool podcast - hearing your perspective on music.
A towel above the toilet can be helpful after a late night Taco Bell run..ouch never ends well..😅
Tiler should wear a mask or be vacuuming up the dust while cutting tile
Thanks mom.
@@timkinley1779 silica dust from stone like the tile will mess up your lungs
Love everything but the switches above the window are too much for my OCD. Can’t they be moved to the drywall to the left of the window and to the right of the tile?
LeBron switch
Please remind me again, what were your plans for the top floor area? Has it been decided?
39:51, carpet :)
No I mean the actual function of the room. Guest room? Racing Sim? Office?@@GKB210
Whats the brand of the false wood wall?
the 80-90's logo of the people/person on the couch with their wig blown back and glasses because of the sound.
Awesome designs Matt
Let me know if you need to offload one of the bigger speakers....
Are they passive, single channel?
Sorry, I tried looking back at older videos to find out what they are....
I have a ML SLM XL but am starting to re-think my setups....
Who would have thought that finding a passive, single channel soundbar(for center channel), is more/less unheard of...
The big speakers with the screen off looks way better.
100% i would not use the small speeker i would not care if the speeker is bigger then the tv. but its lucks good whit the small great job
Any outlets mounted in the floor where the couch and lamps will go? I thought Laurel mentioned lamps.
No lamps near the couch.
Should have lowered the larger ones flush with top TV. The smaller ones look great
