For sure. Keeping the lid on helps stretch the steam/water. When you're mobile, you can run out of water a lot quicker than you've anticipated if the lid is off

I read that some vendors mix liquids and spices into the water to prevent darkness and give flavors but I have learn not the precise substances.

I use a wet clean rag and double layer on the bottom and insert two foil sheets on top and i never waist buns.
