Good work lads. Ive been roofing for 35 years and use t and g floor boards strapped together to bed hips. You use the tongue of the board to bed the ridge to which guarantees that the hip ridges have a mortar joint between them and the tile or slate.. Theres more than one way to skin a cat. As long as the jobs done right is what matters. Stay safe.
