  • An hours session spent at Paddock Wood on the South Eastern Mainline where we see plenty of services from South Eastern.
Paddock Wood station was opened in 1842 under the name of Maidstone Road, it was built in a rural location at first but was soon built on by the local village called Paddock Wood. The station was officially named Paddock Wood in 1844 when the branch line running from the station to Maidstone West was opened by the South Eastern Railway.
The station was also home to another branch line; The Hawkhurst Branch. This line was in operation from 1892 to 1961, it was 11 miles in length and was opened and operated by the Cranbrook and Paddock Wood Railway. By 1900 the company was taken over by the South Eastern and Chatham Railway. It eventually came under the running of British Railways in 1948 and then closed in June 1961 before the Beeching report was published. You can still see evidence of the lines existence to this day with some of the embankment still visible before reaching one of the tunnels.
My next station will be Tonbridge.

Oh it's a complete waste of time, but sadly I have to get every station covered to give them a fair chance
