Hey Kevin, I absolutely love your videos! I have a Canon R50 and photography started out as a hobby. I want to make photography into a side hustle. I'm in high school and want to make some extra cash, and possible save some up for college. Is this possible to do with a Canon R50? What set up should I have? What lenses should I use? How much should I charge starting out? Thank you.
The R50 is a solid choice to start out with. It's more than capable to make you money as a side hustle. The autofocus in it is incredible. The lenses you should buy depend entirely on the genres you want to shoot. Since you're commenting on a video where I talk about setting it up for portraits, I'm going to assume you want to shoot portraits. Lenses I would get for the R50. RF50mm f/1.8 RF28mm f/2.8 RF16mm f/1.8 I think those three will get you covered for all your ranges and the lenses will let in a lot of light and give you great subject isolation. As far as what to charge, that's hard to say without knowing your market. But since you're starting from.scratch and are in high school, I would practice with some friends to build your portfolio so you can show prospective clients. After you get that done, I would charge as much as you can get away with. At least charge $100 starting out. You're shooting AND editing. You should get paid for all the time you work, not just the time you're shooting.
Great video! I am very much torn between Canon R50 and Sony a6400& I want to do UA-cam videos AND do some side hustle portrait and food photography. I was worried that the R50 might not be pro enough to actually do some work for clients on it and I was considering the Sony but now that I'm thinking, it looks really great and professional as you say, for a beginner at least. The only thing Im worried about is the lack of weather sealing of this camera in contrast to Sony but I guess, I'll figure out and there will not be many cases when I want to do photography under rain
hello, I just bought a canon R50 and im trying to take photos of myself, but I want to flip the camera to match with lcd screen that’s showing me mirrored, is it possible to turn on a setting that automatically flips the photos and videos to be mirrored?
@ yes, basically I’m asking if there’s a setting that will automatically flip my image in post, or if there’s a way to reverse the image in post before exporting. im trying to get mirrored images
@@KevinDeal like when you look in the mirror, your face comes out reversed, that’s how I’m used to seeing myself, but when trying to take selfies with the r50, obviously the image isn’t flipped when it’s taken, but is there any way to have it flipped?
@@TheSpectr The R50 has some basic in camera editing features, but I am unaware of a feature that would allow you to flip an image before export. You'd have to do that in post in a program like your RAW editor or Photoshop.
@@FullofCrapp I don't see anything in camera that would make it look that way but if you shoot in RAW, you can achieve that look in post production using a program like Lightroom.

I'm not following what you're saying. When I take pictures of myself, I just flip the screen around and turn it toward myself.
