I had an older m50 gifted to me, but I learned quickly my lens options were limited, so I went out and bought the r50 so now I keep both with me and use them both all the time. I do portrait, landscape, nature and even learning astrophotography. Love these cameras. I’ll be getting the 1.8 prime lens now. Thanks.
Please how do I switch between manual focus and auto focus? I've just bought the same camera and lens but the button on the lens does not affect the focus. I know I'm supposed to do it from the camera but I don't know how. Please help.
Thank you, this video helps me. I have R50 and now I am also trying to make my room studio set on movie review and thinking on changing my kit lens to RF 50mm f1.8 and now I’m confident to do so
There are square and circular ND filters. We teach students how to use square ND filters with a filter holder on a r50, and the whole process can be learned in our Intermediate II Photography Workshop. Each student is provided with a r50 camera and a set of ND filters and a filter holder; they will learn how to attach the accessories to the camera and make sense of the ND filter naming system. In short, the answer to your question is yes. Be sure that the filter holder’s dimensions match with the diameter of the lens. It depends on your needs; if you travel or are a content creator or a beginner who wants to practice on nailing the exposure, composition and focal length then also get the kit lens.
hi, when i'm in manual mode but turn of the flash, setting f/640 f11 iso 200 same as you but the screen turns dark? Please help me figure out. Thanks so much.
Your surrounding is dark or even when it’s normal daylight, shutter speed 1/640s is too fast to light up the scene, plus the aperture is too narrow to let in the light. Widen up the aperture, say f1.8. Also, it is important to note that my settings may not be applicable to your situation, given that the lighting and the time of the day is different. You should build a solid foundation in photography by understanding what iso aperture and shutter speed are and how they work together.
No need, the lens that I’m using is a RF (not EF) 50mm F1.8. Check out Canon lens mounts naming here: ua-cam.com/video/ZTWFHl-AmDo/v-deo.htmlsi=x0RHcR6SmJrd7G2Z
I buy new canon r10 with rf 50mm f1.8 lens few days ago But when i tried to take picture on 1.8 , iso - 100 , shutter speed - 4000 in sunlight there is purple colour (chromic abrasion) edges on the image this is happening in night photography also with flash At night purple colour is showing where any white colour find in image I dont know hor to solve this problem if anyone knows hor solve this problem please help me
This is because the 50mm lens is a prime lens which means it has a fixed focal length and cannot be zoomed in or out. Also, it has a tight field of view (50mm x1.6 = 80mm) on a crop sensor camera; 80mm is the “true” focal length and gives you a tighter view. Therefore you need to step back from the subject in order to get more context in the frame, including the legs (full body). Just bear in mind that the longer the focal length, the tighter the field of view, the more you need to step back to capture more stuff.
Wait... The R50 is an APS-C sensor, so this lens is actually 80mm and not a true 50mm. You would need a 28-30mm to get to a true 50mm, normal angle of view. Maybe do a video with a true 50mm angle of view. :)
Thank you for your comments! Yes, the r50 is a crop sensor and I have explained in the video and the description that it is 80mm rather than 50mm:) I love the FOV of 80mm. Since a lot of beginners start photography with a crop sensor lens, the FOV of 80mm is what most of them will get. Next time perhaps I make another video on the true 50mm with a full frame camera, or ~30mm lens on crop sensor🙏

Thanks for your sharing! The r50 is awesome isn’t it? Happy photographing ❤️🙏
This is an excellent video displaying live use of M mode in natural light. Keep up the great work.
Thanks, will do!

Please help.
The AF/MF focus is on the selector of the camera body, not on the lens:)

If you can afford go for rf 35 f1.8, or sigma rf 24-50, 70-200 f4 l

I plan to buy the r50. Is it better buy body only or with the kit lens?
