you prolly dont care at all but does any of you know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost the account password. I would love any help you can give me.
I have mine in a northwest facing window with 65% humidity and she loves it. I live in the northeastern US so the light is pretty medium where she is. Beautiful plant, one of my favorites 💕. Great video!
This melano tho 🥺 love mine, it’s putting out new leaves as well, even in winter!! And the idea of specialized care vids is bomb! I’ll be here for them all!
So excited, picking one up tomorrow. Found on Facebook market for $20! Trying to get as much info as I can before then. Thanks for sharing your experience!
My philedendron melanochrysum was a rooted cutting with nice elongated leaves. It just put out a small leaf (1/3 size of the other leaf). It might be a humidity issue. It has a grow light and a bright window. Thanks for your video!
omg i'm so early! i just got my first melano, she has 2 leaves and one on the way :) i heard they need mad high humidity and i wouldn't doubt it, it's 60-70% all year where i live and i'm still a helicopter parent with the spray bottle after my p. glorious's last leaf tore in 50% humidity overnight. so annoying, considering a cabinet setup tbh
I like seeing these individual plant care videos. It’s more focused and you have more free time to share your experience and opinions with caring for them. Tours are nice too. 💚💚💚
I keep mine in front of my east facing patio. It gets direct morning light and bright indirect late the remainder of the day. It loves growing there. Humidity is the biggest issue with it as you said, and it calls all the spidermites in town when it's not happy about the humidity. I do keep the moss pole moist by spraying it down every other day (since the pandemic began and I've been indoors) the roots have clung to the pole and the leaves are getting progressively larger
Ahh I really need to be better about spraying my poles. I wish we could share photos in the comments section, because I'd really love to see everyones set ups - sounds so nice!
Put it in a decorative pot, watch the Sydney plant guy, he uses clear pots and moss poles and used pots that look small compared to his plants but he put them into heavy duty pots because with the moss pole especially as they get big that will tip. So that’s all you have to do. Even a terra-cotta pot that the clear one would fit into. Whatever look you like, but it will help a lot while still have the option to see how much your roots are growing.
I love this style of video Fern, the melanochrysum has truly become one of my favorite plants, and yours is so beautiful! I would love to see this style of video for the hoya krimson queen, yours is so beautiful and now I want one and would love some care tips :)
A lot of my plants grow in the winter bc that's when the trees have no leaves and the sun shines in. My tiny mican cutting trails in the south facing window and gets 10am-4pm sun.
I am just gonna watch this & cry because I don’t have one & want one so bad 🥰🥰🥰hahaha it’s gorgeous fern! Hope that I’ll have one by the end of summer myself, gotta get some trades happenin!
thanks for an great and easy to understand video. Great tip about misting, my melanocrysum have trouble with leafs getting stuck and deformed. I will try to mist it regulary-
Beautiful melano, I wish mine was that big, I just cut mine up so I can have a whole house full of them. The electric misters are the best, I have 4 of them, 2 for soapy water and 2 for regular water.
Fern please please please make a crystal video. Like a haul or how you use them. I would love that. Also I am very much obsessed with how many videos you have been uploading lately YEEES!
I'm picking up my first Philodendron Melanochrysum today! It's gonna be my first ever rarer plant and I'm doing a ton of research before getting it so I can provide it with the best care that I can! let's hope it's not gonna be a melanocrisis for me, like Crazy Plant Guy's was for him XDD
I got a continuous spray bottle from a hair salon shop but you can get one (not electric) for $10 usd online. Made misting super easy for me. Have I noticed a difference? A bit but not enough to do it for something like my pothos, only ones i care about individual leaves. it's easy to do if I feel like pottering around with my plants otherwise its not on my important task list if I'm pressed for time.
😍😍 I love this plant! But sadly I can't have high humidity in my room due to electrical equipment, Is philodendron silver sword alright in lower humidity? I have a birkin and Imperial Red they seem to be doing alright, Although my monstera is getting brown edging because low humidity but it's still growing so it don't bother me about the edges
I’m struggling with this plant🥲 but as watching your video, my problem was that i didn’t giving them water or the moist enough. Thank you for share:)! One more question, What lipstick are you wearing on this video?🥰🥰
I have a question about moss poles, what happens if you want to change the poles or take remove the pole? do you have to pull the roots out or how does that work?
What is the black part of your moss pole called? I bought the plastic ones and haven't built it yet. Would like to make smaller ones like you have for my baby cuttings.
Hi! I've got 2 new Melanochrysum and both of them just throw new leaves but it has been 2 weeks now and the leaves got stock and not unfurling/ half unfurl for ..the other one got new leaf unfurling with the old leaf never unfurl😪
Your Melano is beautiful! My leaves just started yellowing after being just fine for months. I've since chopped it and am hoping for the best. Hopefully one day, mine will look like yours! BTW I like to use clear pots too. To weigh it down, I set the clear pot in a ceramic or terracotta pot. 🙂
Do the leaves darken up with age? I recently got a cutting and it's dark! But then got one on a pole for like 25 in a purge and the leaves are green....I still love it but I'm a hoya person .
I grow my (tiny) melanochrysum under artificial light but've got a verrucosum and gigas that grow fine with mostly natural light. They are close to an eastern and southeastern window. I guess I wouldn't give those velvety leaves too much direct sun light buta bit of dappled morning light seems to be ok. They did slow down in winter of course because the days are much shorter. So depending on how far north ( or south you're living in the southern hemisphere) you live, they'd sure appreciate some artificial light in winter,
You make rare plants seem so easy and chill to care for. You inspired me to get more rare plants!
Well I was going to sleep but I think I’ll stay up to watch this masterpiece 💛
🥰🥰🥰
you prolly dont care at all but does any of you know of a way to log back into an Instagram account??

@Noah Carl Instablaster ;)
i just bought my first philodendon melanochrysum (i pick it up this weekend!!) & i was so happy to see you'd made this video
NO WAY. Every time I get a new plant you always come out with a care video. Thank you so much for this video.
I have mine in a northwest facing window with 65% humidity and she loves it. I live in the northeastern US so the light is pretty medium where she is. Beautiful plant, one of my favorites 💕. Great video!
Amazing, good to know! Yes, they are just so lovely 😊
This melano tho 🥺 love mine, it’s putting out new leaves as well, even in winter!! And the idea of specialized care vids is bomb! I’ll be here for them all!
Thank you so much!! And that’s amazing, they are such awesome plants 👏
I too have damage from when I came out 4:08
So excited, picking one up tomorrow. Found on Facebook market for $20! Trying to get as much info as I can before then. Thanks for sharing your experience!
That is awesome! I hope it grows well for you 😊
Girl i just finished hopelessly staring at my melanocrysum. help me!
Awe hahah!
Yes! I can’t wait for your stingray video! I have one and love it but I would love to see how you get yours to grow so big and happy! 🌱

You're so welcome, good luck!
Soo gorgeous! I did a double take when I saw your crystals at the bottom and thought they were ice cubes 🤣
Me too..I thought aahhhhhh😲
Hahahah omg
omg!!
i have never been online when u uploaded a video before cuz i live on the other side of the world! this is so exciting!!!
Awe!! Yay! I am uploading late today but it works out ;)

Ahhh yes, give her that humidity! 👏
Who else thought these crystals were ice 😅
Such a beautiful plant and it's on my wishlist for sure. Thanks for sharing.

That’s a healthy and beautiful plant. I love the light green veining 💚🌱
Thank youuuu 💚
I am just gonna watch this & cry because I don’t have one & want one so bad 🥰🥰🥰hahaha it’s gorgeous fern! Hope that I’ll have one by the end of summer myself, gotta get some trades happenin!
Awe yes you need one!
I’m so happy you posted this!! I’m getting my melanochrysum in the next few weeks and was searching your account for a care video yesterday!!!
Also if anyone is wondering where I got my cutting I got it from Botanicaz. An excellent rare shop Etsy store. :)
Oh amazing timing!!
Gorgeous plant, I think because it looks so much like a Micans is definitely a plus.
That's why I only have a micans. It's way cheaper and as beautiful :)
Just reserved one melano from a local shop and this is the first care vid I watched. Your melano is soooo pretty. Hope mine turns out like that 🥰
Love how tall is yours! And a tip to lubricate leaves - I might try it out on my Philodendron Subhastatum :) Thank you for sharing!
This is a beautiful plant! I bet the moss poll is helping you growing easy. I need to make those poll too.
Fern you're such a beauty just like your rare plants 💚
Dude, that’s just a creepy comment to make.
thanks for an great and easy to understand video. Great tip about misting, my melanocrysum have trouble with leafs getting stuck and deformed. I will try to mist it regulary-
She's so pretty!! If you're doing plant highlight videos, I would love to see your Hoyas in the spotlight!! :)
Noted!
Always love to watch your videos.... ❤❤❤
And please do a video on your marble queen pothos, she is really queen 😍
Beautiful melano, I wish mine was that big, I just cut mine up so I can have a whole house full of them. The electric misters are the best, I have 4 of them, 2 for soapy water and 2 for regular water.
Oh awesome! I will probably chop mine once it outgrows this pole. I would definitely be happy to have multiple of them :)
I’m a bit afraid to put them in my collection since i think i cant give enough humidity to them 😩
Finally ordered a baby ❤ TFS the tips
Can we have a video dedicated to silver sword philo care!? Yours is gorgeous and I’d love to see how you take care of it!
Yes it will be coming :))
Fern please please please make a crystal video. Like a haul or how you use them. I would love that. Also I am very much obsessed with how many videos you have been uploading lately YEEES!
maybe it's just humid enough next to your humidifier for the ariel roots to thrive without moss being wet!
What a beauty!😍
Thanks!! 🪴
It’s so beautiful! I definitely don’t have good enough humidity for one. Micans it is for me ☺️
Awe! Well micans is beautiful too! I just have a small one, but I look forward to the day when I have a large hanging basket
Use a big cute cover pot until you repot it. If the cover pot is big enough, the plant will be OK. :) It will hold the moss pole in place.
Thank you so much for this vid!! I’ve been hoping to get a Melanochrysm this year 🤞🏽
Also, I was wondering...when it outgrows the second pole, are you planning to elongate the pole more? Or chop and pop for a fuller pot?
I think I may chop and prop at that point... we shall see lol
I love seeing crystals on your plants, I do the same! Pls do a small crystal display in one of your vlogs!!!!!!
Ahh I hope it does super well for you! I just recently chopped mine all up and can't wait to share the vid x
@@wildfern Oooo I'm excited to see that video!!

Ohhh smart! Yes, that’s what I want to try out! I have a feeling I would be the same though. Misting is forever on the back burner lol.
Beautiful plant!🤗
😍😍 I love this plant! But sadly I can't have high humidity in my room due to electrical equipment,

Although my monstera is getting brown edging because low humidity but it's still growing so it don't bother me about the edges
My silver sword seems to be quite resilient when it comes to lower humidity, so it would be a good option :)
I’m struggling with this plant🥲 but as watching your video, my problem was that i didn’t giving them water or the moist enough. Thank you for share:)!
One more question,
What lipstick are you wearing on this video?🥰🥰
Why don't you put the plastic pot into a cache-pot or terra cota pot? That will help with the weight problem ;)
your melano is gorgeous 🤩
Thank you!!
I have a question about moss poles, what happens if you want to change the poles or take remove the pole? do you have to pull the roots out or how does that work?
I’ve been wondering about this, too!
Honestly I'm not sure. I haven't changed or removed poles yet, I'm relatively new to them. I have the same questions lol.
What is the black part of your moss pole called? I bought the plastic ones and haven't built it yet. Would like to make smaller ones like you have for my baby cuttings.
It's called hardware mesh :)
Hi! I've got 2 new Melanochrysum and both of them just throw new leaves but it has been 2 weeks now and the leaves got stock and not unfurling/ half unfurl for ..the other one got new leaf unfurling with the old leaf never unfurl😪
Heyy Fern
They are doing well! I will post an update soon.
Ahh yes I need to do that! And awe! I hate when everything is going well and then out of nowhere trouble starts... good luck!!
Why don't you put it in a cash pot to allow for more base weight and stability?
I just don't have one on hand that fits right, but I should do so!
Do the leaves darken up with age? I recently got a cutting and it's dark! But then got one on a pole for like 25 in a purge and the leaves are green....I still love it but I'm a hoya person .
Light can change the colour of the leaves. I would experiment with putting it in slightly lower light. Good luck!
Nice looking plant 👌 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Off to the side of a south window by a humidifier
thank you! can you include link to your humidifier :-)

i dont get mosspoles isnt that basically air layering all over your plant
I woke up this morning and my Melo is starting to get a hellow/ brown tip.. why is this??

I love pothos! Enjoy the journey ☺️
“Moss pole keeper.” Lmaooo
Hahahaaa
Wow I've never been this early
same!
you mess up the outro because internally you know we don't want the video to end
Trueeee :')
You could pop that plastic pot into a heavier cover pot maybe?
Yes I should haha!
Do you mist your plant?
Nope
Only if the leaves are stuck
@@wildfern ok
@@wildfern I misted my alocsia black velvet cause the leaf was stuck and it ended up rotting that new leaf
🖤🖤🖤
💚🌿
🤘
i like it
Thank you :)
👁️ One day my baby will be as big as yours. 😍🌱💋
Yes it will 😍
I’m so jealous, your bb is gorgeous!!!! I have a mid cutting of a melano in moss and it refuses to make any progress 😭
Awww!! Hopefully soon 🤞
