@@Jevans47403 playing poker is relatively easy, winning at cards is about the cards you hold, when you are just playing for fun there is no emotion involved, when you are playing for money it is about playing the person, not the cards, i.e. if there is no money involved you can't bluff, when it costs money to "call" you could throw in a winning hand, by being bluffed out, reading the other player, that is where the real card playing skill resides, winning money long term has nothing to do with the cards you get, (well it ain't the most important thing) I have actually seen someone throw in 4 Kings and I thought they were mad, the winning hand was 4 Aces! that man was my Dad....and he always won, not every hand, but every session, He Knew "When to hold 'em and he knew when to fold 'em" I wish I had inherited his knack for reading people, knowing what it is and actually doing it, are not the same
I think it's because he's "normal", whereas Jane is the savant, the "superhero" perse-- but Cho isn't normal. His integrity and code of honor are beyond measure. His work ethic and tenacity for justice. He's like a regular human who jumps into a fight alongside Superman-- far more at risk, but still willing to do what is necessary.
One thing about the mentalist, Simon Baker kept tweaking the show when he became executive producer so it evolved. I remember that “Psych” claimed the mentalist was a ripoff, but “Psych” kept the same tired gimmick and people quit watching. The mentalist had the romance angle and then they all went to,work for the FBI.
Psych an the mentalist are 2 entirely different shows. Can't really compare them imo. Psych was great fun, good characters and lot of funny bits. Mentalist could be fun but more clever fun, and at times more thriller like.
The other thing I would be wary of.....if I was in a high stakes card game with strangers is the pics on the walls, they are behind glass and glass reflects images, I would not want one hanging on the wall behind me

The poker thing is where the Jane mindtricks were especially ridiculous to me…I play poker all the time you can’t make sure someone else wins no matter how good you are.. I mean ya you can help them by throwing hands and giving them money but that just means you’ll be out soon and even if you can help someone do better you can’t control the other players hands and how they react and bet. #impossible
I'd say it depends. It would be REALLY difficult, but if you could read people in this magical kind of way then you could either push other people out and then fold into the person you're trying to prop up or push that person out when they're beat. I'd say it wouldn't be 100%, but you could definitely stack things heavily in one person's favor if you don't care about your own result at all. But again, this assumes you can read EVERYONE to an insane degree. It would also help a lot for you to be in the right position at the table. Much harder if you're seated right after the person you're trying to help.
Jane is not only a mentalist, he is a magician. Good magicians can manipulate the Deck so that they always get the aces, etc. Of course that only works when they are dealing.
Jane's probably stacking the deck when he deals. Assuming everyone is playing roughly at the same level, giving one player an advantage consistently adds up over time.
Having the character of Vega was a completely pointless part, I never understood what the reasoning was behind her, she brought absolutely nothing to the series
