Jane has his jacket off in the next scene 5.. the other mafioso says "I should have shot you myself" 6. they appear to be on the green (end of golf course) near the road (witnesses) when Jane starts acting up in the end 7. lastly the main mafia dude says "you're lucky you help me beat Arnold Palmer here."
For those curious about the gunman, mostly bosses will have a code for their gunman. "Shoot him" probably just meant "scare him" to see if Patrick would reach for a gun or look for back up (hence affirming he's a cop). If he really wanted to have Patrick be shot, he would have said something else like "get him out of my sight" (drag him away to a place with no witnesses and shoot him) or something like that. :)
Or maybe the gunman was merely an actor and didn't shoot because it wasn't in the script. You make big mistakes if you believe television mirrors reality.

I saw the first TV show he did as a lawyer but not all of them. I like it and I noticed that he does not have the connection like he does with this one on the Mentalist. Talking about the women folk. And all of his movies are good also except I havent seen the newest one but I am sure its good.

The end would never happened in real life. There is no reason to burn a bridge that was built. You never know when he might need to talk to the guy again. Insulting him might feel good, but completely counter productive in the grand scheme of things. But then again, this is a movie, and Jane is more likable that way.
Why did Jane piss this guy off to be honest? He could've saved himself an entire murder trial just calling this guy up to get a hit out on the Red John impersonator. Bet it would've been free or heavily discounted!
